Half-Orc Barbarian 1

FWIW - mikeawmids has been active on the forums on both Sunday and Tuesday (making seven posts) without making a post here, so I think it's fair to call this dead.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Generally I would have thought it poor form to launch into attacks before the DM actually telling us we're in combat?

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Stretching the cricks out of his neck, Krathok growls "Less talk, more fight... break men, then little ones flee." and shaping to barrel into the knot of purple cloaked.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Remaining unseen is not exactly in Krathok's wheelhouse, but he makes an attempt...
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Grunting and nodding Krathok keeps his weapons at the ready, and looks to take point beside the townsperson leading them keep-ward.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Snorting as he stands Krathok asks "How far keep? We see more kobold on way?"

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

As the last of the kobolds hits the dirt, Krathok feels the black rage rush from his flesh. A wave of fatigue flows over him, and the brute takes a knee by a kobold corpse and wipes the worst of the gore from his axe blade. He leaves the talking to the others, but listens to what is being said.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Keeping up his assault Krathok sweeps forward to see if his axe can taste more reptillian blood. He forgoes any sense of form and hacks like a wildman...
Battleax: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9 - against the one with the sling
...and he is not disappointed as crimson fluid sprays with pressure once more.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Deeply sunk into the thrill of the melee, Krathok uses his shield as leverage to push the kobold before him away before raising his axe high. The heavy and cruel blade is then brought down in a cross slash aimed at the kobold's head...
Battleax: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 for 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

You mistake my meaning - every single one of us is attacking using an ability score that we have a +3 attribute bonus as well as proficiency.

Eg Krathok with a battleax = Strength = +3 from Strength +2 proficiency = +5
Rission with a bow = Dexterity = +3 from Dex +2 proficiency = +5

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Hmmm... I think I may have figured out 5th edition... every single one of us attacks with a +5 ;)

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Round 1: AC 15, HP 15/15

Krathok sweeps forward, calling upon the well of black rage within him as he does, before exploding when he reaches the nearest kobold. Stepping right before spinning left he roars as his battleax is swung in a wide and low arc...
Bonus action: begin Rage (lasts until Round 11)
Move: move into contact with a kobold
Action: Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 for 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12

...his swing ponderous, but unable to be checked by the reptilian creature and instead biting into the beast's soft flesh.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Taking the lead in the approach to the town as his brutish eyes are less impeded by the growing dark, Krathok's right hand is a heavy axe and his left a round wooden shield. At the sight of the kobolds and coming affray his muscles tense as though to charge...

Unless told otherwise Krathok will be bundling right in.... he's a simple half-orc.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Addressing the caravan master "Krathok said - get caravan under cover, then go save customers. More people here more likely dragon come."

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

From his position at the front of the caravan Krathok's eyes rise from the earth where they are generally fixated to take in the smoke and winged terror unfolding. Turning and holding up a hand to halt to ensure that all others have also seen it he growls "Best get caravan under cover... not want dragon come and burn it. Then go see if we can save people?"

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Seems you've got enough interest so I'm happy to step back and let another take my spot. I'll be checking in on the game though to see how it goes.

Cheers and good luck.

I am a Strong Glaive who Explores Dark Places... Though profile pic will change.

How much backgroundy stuff would you like?

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

After some deliberation I'm going to respectfully withdraw from this PbP. It's been fun along the way and many thanks to Caleth for running it.

Wish you all the best in future gaming.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

To be honest I still don't have a clear picture of exactly what's happening still. May be that I'm just being dense.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Raising an eyebrow momentarily in confusion Krathok turns to the shaggy one

Orcish:
"Stop cousin, he and we are not your enemies"

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Brow furrowed in confusion Krathok does nothing, but take a step back from the fray and translate the words of the orcish speaker through the collective.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

So shaggy with the iron bar doesn't like Quodak.
Orcish speaking axe-man has attacked Orion.
Dragon soldier thinks Orion is a a commander.
But how do these creatures react to each other?

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

So do we wait on them... or do we get a round in before shaggy swings a second time?

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

I'm not sure what Krathok would actually do... as he's still not sure of the politics and what not involved.

Caleth - although I know that you feel obligated to keep this game going... but your post above seems to imply that you've mostly resigned it to 'plodding along' after your new game gets going.

I've a potential suggestion - why not take Quodak and Orion into the new game and then recruit up the rest of the party from the recruitment thread? I wouldn't shed too many tears retiring Krathok, as I've been keeping him going more for the sake of them.

Would that be a possibility? - perhaps the nature spirit revenges by freezing them in purgatory and they miss the war - only waking up when the fight is already over.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Krathok stands still, crouching slightly on his haunches.

Order would probably be Orion - Krathok - Quodak

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

I'm still floating around. Last few posts haven't really given Krathok much to react to / do, hence the quiescence.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok pauses where he stands, warily eyeing the fog.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Survivals: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 and 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 and 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 and 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Krathok trudges ever on.

No roleplay reqs of the journey.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok still floating around as well...

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Krathok watches the spirit go warily, before turning to his companions to ensure that they are all hale - before waiting to press on.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok is not trying any diplomacy at present.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok does not speak, and retains his belligerent expression... but does take a knee as a show of respect to a manifestation of his ancestral spirits.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Would like to know what effect / non-effect of the SLA before reacting...

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

A nascent growl stirring in Krathok's throat he replies "Ek is gestuur deur niemand, is niemand se slaaf en my eie pad te loop ...en julle het nie antwoord op my vraag gees ....watter huis is jy?" chin jutted forward and belligerent despite the cold. He is careful though to not take any further steps towards, instead holding his ground.

Orcish:
"I was sent by none, am no-one's slave and walk my own path... and you did not answer my question spirit.... of what house are you?"

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Blue lipped and pensive, Krathok's brow furrows before speaking at the figure in orcish "Hael gees, ek uitgestrek op die voet van die winter.Watter huis is jy?"

Orcish:
"Hail spirit, I am prostrate at the foot of winter. Which house are you?"

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Krathok stumps along in the freezing cold, relying on his natural toughness and ability to draw on internal mental reserves to carry him forward.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok is still here.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

I'm guessing with no game posts and Caleth active elsewhere on the boards the PbP is officially dead?

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Onward ho!

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok follows second last, taking his time with the climb (take 10 for 12).

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Survival: take 10 for 14

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Having no ability to discern what is wise from folly in this instance, Krathok leaves the decision making to the others.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Fort vs Cold: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 - fail
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 - pass
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 - pass
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 - fail

2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 3 non-lethal after DR.

Krathok feels the cold, though it bothers him less than it would others.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok looks at the torc... confused at how it arrived next to him before remembering his dream. Brow furrowed, he puts the torc on under his clothes. Apart from this he does not proffer any thoughts on his dream without prompting or suggestions from another.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok ok to move forward

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Dream:
Brow furrowing "War of Dragons? or men?... what path you put us on?" gesturing pointedly at the dwarf's torc.
