Aw, sucks that's how this all shook out. And I haven't stuck with this game just to bow out when my character died! Let's see what we have now... Cleric/Fighter
Looks like we need a skill monkey. I'm already playing a rogue in another game. Bard sounds rather attractive. Let me see what I can come up with for that.

"CHEZ!!!", cries the half-orc as he sees his friend fall limply to the floor. Unrestrained fury breaks through Kowaru's usual calm demeanor, and he fixes his gaze on Rowyna. "No more. This ends now!" He reaches to grab her, but he telegraphs his moves to the woman, who ducks away. He doesn't even see Guts coming up behind him, only hears the beast's approach, turning at the last moment to see the creature's fists pounding onto his chest, shattering bone with the force of the impact. And then, everything was blackness. Good luck!

Sorry about my lack of posting - work's been very busy, so I've not had much time to post from there, and nights haven't been much better. Kowaru's action would have been to attempt to grapple again, and it looks like he's just cursed to be the worst monk ever! It does suck for Chez that the dice turned against us like this. While Lavinia might not be able to spring for his raising, maybe she can spring for us to speak with his departed spirit, and find out if he wants us to return him to life or not. If he doesn't, we can fulfill any loose ends he'd want us to tie up for him in his wake. Of course, that assumes we survive the next minute!

Seeing Chez so easily taken down, Kowaru acts swiftly. He races towards Rowyna and attempts to grab her, holding her fast to prevent her from harming Chez any further. "You wish to kill us, sister? You will only succeed in your own demise. Call off your pet, and tell us where to find Vanthus." Mechanics: Move to -O57. I believe that gives me flank with Chez, since he still threatens. I'll attempt to grapple her - hopefully, I'll roll higher than a five! Grapple: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 No such luck. The dice, they hate me still.

Kowaru suddenly has a flash of insight as Aeronniel mentions that the woman inside the room has protected herself. "Yes, we wait out here for her. She can do nothing to us within the room." He glances at his allies, and lays a single finger to his lips. He then begins to tread into the room, recalling the times Master Ping had made him tread upon the rice paper, stepping lightly. [i]If I can't see you, can you see me?[/b], he wondered. He moved past Ialda and hugged the left wall, trying to listen to hear where the woman is at within the mist. Mechanics: Move: Stealthing into the room, so I'll move 15'. I'll end up in the square directly northeast of where Ialda is right now. Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3
Kowaru takes a moment after the last rhagodessa falls to return to Crusher's still form. "I mourn your loss, my lost brother. May you return to this world soon to work off the poor karma you have built during this life." He passes a hand over the wolf's eyes, closing them, and saying a short prayer to speed the judgement of his soul. He freezes as the spears shoot out and strike at both Chez and Ialda. "Yes," he says shakily in response to Chez. "We probably should be a bit more careful, brother."

Kowaru leaps to Cruncher's side, striking at the beast's flank. "Enough, Cruncher. Be at peace." Mechanics: Attack, nonlethal. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 If that drops him, then I'll move to -P38, taking a route that avoids base-to-base contact with the rhagodessa.

"I do not," Kowaru grimaces as he anticipates Cruncher's charge, sidestepping the beast's snapping jaws. "Besides, though the wolf might not agree, we are both brothers in this world. To end him would end myself." He then raises his knee as though to strike, but this is a feint - he pivots, and attempts to grab the wolf by his scruff. Mechanics: Attempt a grapple. Who knows, it might even work this time! Grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Sorry, I've been royally busy with life. Taking a moment to catch up on everything again, but it looks like I don't roll much better when I'm away than when I'm here! "More of these beasts," Kowaru said quietly. "Let's see if we can fare better against them than we did aboard the Nixie. KIAI!" Kowaru lashes out at the rhagodessa with a avalanche of blows, striking at the monster's joints. Mechanics: Flurry of blows, nonlethal. Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The half-orc gasps as life flows back into him, finding his feet slowly. "Thank you, friend Baolo. In my haste, I overextended myself. This will not happen again. My apologies." He begins to give a bow, winces, and stops before his wounds reopen. "Now, where did that wolf get off to..."

Expecting the attack to come from the flank, Kowaru is surprised to find out the Lotus Dragons were waiting ahead of them. His eyes widen as Chez takes a pair of arrows, and the half-orc is on the move. He spins around the man, rushing headlong into battle alongside Ialda. Finally, he comes face to face with one of the Lotus Dragons. Despite his training and divine intervention aiding him, Kowaru telegraphs his moves to the Lotus Dragon, and the other man easily sidesteps his punch. Mechanics: Move: Move in a straight line from where I'm at to -R24. Standard: Attack the Lotus Dragon with nonlethal damage. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3
Kowaru looks at the man that remains. "Kneel down and allow me to restrain you. If you do, then no further harm will come to you from us." He removes a length of rope from his pack and begins to tie up the man. By the way, did I get healed? I think that might have gotten overlooked during the slight pause in the action.

Kowaru's calm demeanor is momentarily shattered as Cruncher finishes savaging Ialda. "Damn you, beast!", the monk cries. "Leave the woman alone!" He ceases trying to grab the beast, and launches a barrage of elbow smashes and knee strikes at the wolf. Mechanics: Flurry of blows on Cruncher, nonlethal, of course! Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 The dice, they hate me.

Assuming that drops the Lotus Dragon... Kowaru steps to Cruncher's side, trying to grab the beast by its scruff. "Chew on something else, beast," he says calmly, reaching out with his powerful hands. Mechanics: Take a 5' step to -L9 and try to grapple the worg. Grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Round 1 "Lotus Dragons," Kowaru says as he approaches behind Aeronniell. "Thank you for giving a name to those who threaten us. But nobody else need die today. Put down your arms, and I will not harm you." He knows that they will not do so - not without a powerful reason, at least - and so he gives them one. He reaches for the man, putting him into a painful arm lock. Mechanics: Move to E5. Grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3
"I believe I shall pass, sister," Kowaru says to Aeronneill quietly. "Even if ate meat, I suspect I would have issues with eating something that tried to eat me." Kowaru follows along, and notes Ialda straining to hear through the wooden door. He tries as well, pressing his ear to the door and closing his eyes to ward off other distractions. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Bah. I guess reefclaw poison makes you deaf.

Fort save:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Kowaru winces as the beast tears away more of his flesh. "Whatever this thing is, it refuses to submit!" He continues to press his attack, though he's really just guessing at the lobstrosity's pressure points. Mechanics: For a change of pace, how about a nonlethal flurry! Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2, Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10, Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Fort save:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Round 2 Kowaru winces as the monster tears away some of the skin on his forearm, but slips away before it can slither around him as it did to Ialda. He lets loose a flurry of strikes at the monster, seeking pressure points to knock it senseless. Mechanics: Non-lethal flurry of blows on the remaining reefclaw. Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Current Spell Effects: Mage Armor (AC 20)

Sorry, hadn't realized that we were moving again - the gameplay thread didn't tell me there was new activity. [ooc]Round 1 Kowaru steps back a moment in alarm as the reefclaws begin to tear into Ialda. His indecision quickly fades as he dashes towards the fight, striking at the monster that holds the green-skinned woman fast! Mechanics: Move to H10, and attack the reefclaw that's got Ialda. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

The path was developed for six 3.5 PCs...that's approximately equivalent to five PF PCs, using my patented WAG method of judging things. Four would be pushing it, and we'd probably need to be powergaming to have a good chance of success. Should we get moving on the story for now, but recruit for a fifth?

Yep, unprepared GMs are the bane of every Living event. I ran into that during one of the games I played in - nothing breaks the mood like a GM with a lack of confidence. I don't really do much with PFS, though I've got a few friends who are big in it - I spent most of my Con below you in the Heroes of Rokugan room. Maybe we can work out some sort of exchange program...hrm...

Finding little of interest in the main room, Kowaru heads towards the back offices, checking the doors to see if they're locked, and then searching the room for...well, anything out of the ordinary, really. Mechanics: Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3
Kowaru sighs in defeat as Baolo pronounces Nemien dead, and shakes his head. He stares at his hands for a moment, bright red with the man's lifeblood. "Another life snuffed out from our passing, like a candle's flame in a storm. I am sorry for this end, brother - may your next life be less profitable and more rewarding than this one was." He bows his head in meditation for a few moments, silently praying for Nemien's soul. He then stands, and begins searching the back room for clues as well. Mechanics: Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

"Damn," Kowaru curses, displeasure evident on his face. "Another assault upon our heads. Is it too late to save him, Baolo?" Kowaru assists the holy warrior in patching up the fallen arcanist. Mechanics: Aid Another on a Heal test. I suspect Baolo's going to do that - if someone else does, then I help them. If nobody else does, then I guess I'm actually trying the First Aid myself. Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Sorry, work has been INSANE since Monday. Playing catchup now. I should be back to posting regularly now. Round 3 Kowaru is slow to react to the screams from the front room, and races back to the front, only to find Nemien surrounded. He stands over Chez, and grabs at Nemien's clothes. Mechanics: Move to D8, attempt to grapple Nemien. CMB: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
