With her eyes magically opened to the reality of things--thanks to the Lord of Light--Kjeta does her best to take in the beyond-belief spread around her. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 Ooof! BTW, does True Seeing reveal anything interesting to Kjeta (with this, or anything else around us)?

Insight: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Kjeta lifts her drink. "Forever your attendant!" she echoes, giving the queen a bit of a bow. She tries to catch her eye to wink directly at her. Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Then she leans over to the Thorsdottir and whispers, "Time to switch beverages. No offense but that one's clearly not the drink for you. The ale's quite nice, though I thought I caught the queen glaring at me a bit for choosing it. Still, you couldn't do worse than that Cordial..."

Yes yes, I was excited to get to use that ability, but I don't want to get in the way of some tripping RP!

Kjeta chuckles at Floppy Cottonwing's tale, "No way! What did the duck say to that?!?!" ...and then notices the odd look on Raseri's face. Medicine: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 Oh dear. You'd think a cleric of Thor could hold her liquor a bit better than that...but if there's one thing I learned as an acolyte, it was how to spot someone who's drink isn't sitting well. "Raseri, can you..." Kjeta notes Raseri's far off look. "Aw, you're not getting any of this, are you?" The Alemaiden looks around, hoping for a busier moment where she won't make such a scene, and then raises her tankard as she says, "Mother of Ales, give the lass a break, will ya?" A radiant blast of boozy light washes over Raseri. Deception (w/advantage, to avoid causing a scene with her divine magic): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 Deception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Using my second Channel Divinity (the first would've been for Blessed Brew) for Boot & Rally. Raseri you get the benefit of: "you can use your Channel Divinity to aid and rally your allies. All friendly creatures within 30 feet of you who are frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, or stunned gain an immediate saving throw with advantage to remove the effect. Creatures that succeed on the saving throw also heal 2d6 hit points."

Seeing what others are doing, Kjeta chooses to stick to her guns and order the Prince's Ale.

I like the thought of a way to reward remembering clues we've received (and I certainly received that one). I'll note though that it wasn't clear to me that it was even an *option* to get all three. since the menu says, Menu wrote:
Now, it seems EMINENTLY reasonable that Kjeta would misunderstand the choice that was being given to her (given the many cultural differences)...but I wonder if Kolya, there beside her as her date, would have let her know that she could (and should) choose to accept all three. (If he *had* explained, she'd still have probably tried to find out if there was *actual* Goblin in there. She'd lose status in a heartbeat if the alternative was cannibalism.) Also totally happy to just move on as things are. You continue to impress me as a DM and I don't want to get snagged on a detail.

Goblin stew?! Kjeta blanches visibly, knowing by now not to discount any possibility in this horrid realm. She selects the Snowflake Soup and the Prince's Ale,

Puzzle Box Kjeta clenches her teeth in frustration, wishing she could figure out where this drama was unfolding. She tries once more to navigate the view out or around, in the hopes of finding a landmark. "Hrungnir, what do you make of this? Any idea how we could find them. If this is showing us something happening right now--something I admit we can't assume in this realm--then there are children who need our help, right at this very moment." Getting Ready The more Kjeta studies the ritual, the more she knows she's not suited to it. She recalls studying with the other acolytes of Ninkash...and how she was often the last to be able to memorize and recite even simple passages from Ales of Yore. Still, she struggled on for three days. As she reached the end, she again called on Ninkash's Guidance, and prayed for the Alemother to lend her the Cunning of a Fox as well. Finally--with a deep breath and a deeper swig--she attempted the ritual. Pilsner flashed her a bright smile from his perch on the shelf. Kjeta smiled, then closed her eyes and anointed them with ointment. Sweat dripped from her brow as she chanted the arcane words while concentrating on the glyphs she needed to visualize. Focus, Kjeta. Focus! Her heart beat faster--and then finally she had visualized the 23rd glyph, and she open her eyes. Guidance: 1d4 ⇒ 3
She blinked twice, uncertain, and then gasped. "Pilsner! It worked!! For the love of the Alemother, it really worked!!" The Festival She finished getting dressed for the event (wearing the same rich, silver dress she'd purchased to meet the Zobeck council) met Kolya at the door when he approached, and headed off to the Festival. She arrived unarmed and unarmored, but with her tankard hanging by her waist and Pilsner draped over her shoulders. She walks slowly, taking in as much as she's able with her divinely inspired True Sight. Insight: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 She smiled and turned to the flower-eater. With a curtsy she said, "M'lady. I am Kjeta Strongmalt, of Zobeck. Pleased to make your acquaintance. Pray, what is your name?" Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Hrungnir when you get a chance, there was a History check you might be able to make, and something you know (and can share) due to being trained in Arcana.
character sheet
I'll happily do the Locate & Speak mission Re scrying from the puzzle, did we determine there's nothing more we can do to locate them or intervene? Any useful rolls from Hrungnir for that encounter? K would love to try to find them! I'll also roll the LOL ritual, and Hrungnir certainly should too! (He's got a MUCH better shot at it.)
character sheet
History: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Having only studied the History of Beer, Kjeta gains no historical insight from their observations...but still she gasps when she sees the scenes unwinding. Shaking her head, she replied, "No, no idea what that thing is...but I bet those goblins are kidnapped children from Zobeck, and that woman is definitely the one who offered to take them home. "Let's zoom around, and see if we can figure out where they are. I wonder if we can get there in time!" Lemme know if there's something we should roll, to try to figure out where they are.
character sheet
Kjeta excitedly watches as Lexi figures out the controls. Looking over the assassin's shoulder, she says, "This is an amazing scrying device! What do you see?" She'll take turns 'driving' the device with Lexi and Hrungnir. When she gets her turn, she zooms first in toward the fastest moving object or person. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Lexi, fortunately it seems like we're done with the Survival challenge. Now we get to interact with the place we've arrived. I'm primary parent tonight so not sure I'll be able to post, but I will if I can. Intrigued!!

DM, do we know of a way to speak to Elegyn? She's here, right? If nothing else, I suppose we'll look for her at the Swan Festival.
character sheet
Kjeta nods. "And the person wearing the blindfold? They were a Zobecker?" Kjeta quickly describes Elegyn, to see if that's who they saw. If not, she asks for the best description Sara can give. Then she says, "Thank you both. Sara, you're going to be OK now. Don't talk about this with anyone except Johnny. We're doing everything in our power to rescue any of you who want it...but you'll need to stay tight for a bit longer. "You can do that, right?" Kjeta carefully folds up the blindfold and puts it into her purse. As they leave, the Alemaiden turns to Carnadine. "Now we need to find out who this was. I pray that it's an ally of ours in some way. Any ideas?"
character sheet
Kjeta offers Sara an understanding smile. "You can't be blamed for fearing tricks in this place. But tell me more, please. What exactly did she say? Did she say anything else about the trade?" After thinking a moment, she adds, "And can you tell me how many were taken? And--" she looks at Johnny as well, for this"--Has a group of stolen children disappeared like this before?" To Carnadine, she adds quietly, "I heard a rumor that Elegyn, the Zobecker elite, has made condition on her pledge to marry the Black Prince that these stolen wards of Zobeck be returned. At the time I heard that half of what was promised, 10 in number, have already been secreted out of court...I wonder if this was more of the same?"

I hope Raseri finally gets some good rolls in her solo encounter! As they start to get ribbony, Kjeta gives a somewhat shakey "Wooooah..." As she finds that she's unharmed, her curiosity comes back, and she finds herself trying to peer into Lexi and Hrungnir's ribbon heads. While she's doing so, she notices an odd pattern to the globes she sees through Lexi. "Hmmmm, do you two notice that?" Survival+guidance: 1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (10) + 5 + (4) = 19

She looks for small variations among the fish, and continues to pray to Ninkash to show her the way. survival+guidance: 1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (10) + 5 + (2) = 17 Dunno if Guidance is possible for each of these checks. If not, just lemme know and ignore that part of my roll. Tower of LOLs Kjeta nods her thanks to Wenceslaus. When back in her chamber, she again reads the instructions they'd been given. She meditates on the prism, and breathes deeply the scent of the ointment. She feels some fear rise in her, and she prays to the Ninkash. "Sweet, Malty Mother of Ales, please help me. Studying things like this ritual...It was never my strength. Please, if it be your will that I see through these illusions, guide me in mastering this!" She hopes for some Divine Words of inspiration. When they don't arrive, she seeks to draw closer to the Alemother through drink...and in the morning wakes with a her head pounding and eyes red.

To be clear:
Can Hrungnir work together on it (perhaps having me Aid him) when we actually cast it? Or is there anything other than Arcana that I can use for it?

Kennelibrary Kjeta whistles with appreciation at Kolya’s declaration of love for Maraya. ”Truly, the Sapphire Courtesan sounds like a beauty beyond compare--even in this fey realm. I know of the ritual, which I’ve started to practice...though, in honesty, such Arcana is not my strength. In the meantime, is there more I should be attempting? Or that you can teach me?” In the Kitchens Kjeta’s ruddy skin goes white at Johnny’s story. ”They disappeared yesterday? All at once? Do you know anything of what might’ve happened--or might know? I can poke about--pretending to just be down here working on my ale--if you can point me in the right direction.” She frowns, thoughtfully, "And if what we find is that you're in more immediate danger than I'd feared--which sounds suddenly likely--well then by Ninkash's golden flagon, I'll take you with me today." Puzzlebox, while Vale, Raseri, and Carnadine dance As her friends dance, Kjeta feels a rush of inspiration. There's SO MUCH MORE to this puzzle box! As long as Hrungnir and/or Lexi want to come along...: Kjeta again looks around and starts to follow her intuition.

Kennelibrary Kjeta stops by, scratches one of the hounds behind it's ear, and holds Pilsner up to meet it. "Well hewwo there doggo! This is Pilsner the liddle dwagon. Pilsner, this is doggo." Pilsner blows a little puff of candlelight at the big hounds nose. Then Kjeta looks up to the rafters for Koyra. "Hey! Wouldn't you know it, I'm invited to the Swan Festival. If you're still game, I'd be happy to have you as my companion." "By the way, you mentioned seeing the dance of the Sapphire Courtesan? Does that mean you've been there before? Any advice for a Midgardian on her first foray at the festival? People to try to meet? Things to enjoy? Mistakes to avoid?" "Oh! And any word on the Prince's hunt, and whether you can get us on the list?" The Tower of LOLs "Greetings, Deacon Wenceslaus! How go the Lords of Light? I've received an invitation to the Swan Festival, and suspect it might be an opportunity to further our cause. Are there particular people you recommend I try to get to know? I would be quite grateful if Revich could shed any light on what happened, and who the foul actors were." The Kitchens Kjeta goes below to check how the beer production goes. Even though she has nothing but disdain for Moggo...still, Beer Well Made is one of Ninkash's central tenants. She'll help the brewing be at its best, even if it helps someone she despises. While down there, she seeks an opportunity to bump into Johnny. If she does so, she calls him to help her carry some barley...and once she gets him alone, she whispers: "Brave brave Johnny, are you still staying strong? I want you to know that I haven't forgotten you, but the time isn't right yet. Do you understand? As soon as we're able, we will do our utmost to rescue you and any child who wants to come. For now though, you need to stay quiet and safe. Can you do that?" When he nods, she smiles. "Good lad! Here, would you like to meet my new dragonette? His name's Pilsner. It's OK, he won't bite you."

Re Locate & Speak, I'm down! Re clothes, Kjeta will wear the same fancy outfit she bought to talk to the council. Re Ted Chiang, he's the best living writer of fantastic short stories that I know. His "Story Of Your Life" was adapted as the film Arrival (which was almost as good as the story). I highly recommend anything he's written. Re next steps,

Last night When she returned to their lodgings, Kjeta calls her companions together. "Hark! As you can see, Hrungnir and I've made common cause with the Lords of Light...and we've learned valuable information! The King is indeed mad, and his madness -- his fall from grace -- is Akyishigal the Demon Lord of Roaches. It was one of the demon lord's many festering plagues that shattered the king's already unstable mind into splinters. The Most Foul Roach Lord seeks to transcend the powers of King and Queen, his ambition hinges on the destruction of the King and his taking a royal noble as wife. "My hope is that if we can help the King regain his sanity--such as it was, I can't say for certain, given these fey--that perhaps we can win favor for Zobeck at the same time...and surely letting a Demon Lord take control of this court could only do ill, eh?" In the morning When she hears of Deimus' demise, Kjeta rushes to the site of his destroyed metal body. She picks up a broken spring and stares at it. "We already knew there was much Evil here...but still, this is a shock." Wiping a tear, she looks over at Scutarius. ”Carnadine. I’m so sorry. I didn’t know your squire well, but he seemed a fine boy. Certainly he didn’t deserve to be murdered like this.” Infinity, when you get a chance, Carnadine rolled Investigation to try to learn more of what happened here (and got a Nat 20). At the puzzle box I'll get there next...

Is it clear whether the invitation allows us to bring along a +1? If so, I'll let Kolya know. ---EDIT--- So, assuming I chose an Expert Dragonette, they'll have 11 HP total, yes? If they take 11+ damage, do they die? Or do they get death saves like a PC does?

Kjeta feels the light fill her. She feels a trickle of warm blood come from her ears, but foggily: almost as if noticing the pleasant warmth of holding mug of Deimus's coffee in her hands. She looks down with amazement at the tiny Lantern Dragon that has curled itself around her leg. When she does, she sees that her knees are trembling, and realizes she can barely stand. She takes a deep breath--followed by a deep swig of Good Brew--and bows her head to Revich. ”I am honored to walk this path with you, as Ninkash works beside Khors. So much here is not as it appears. How do I learn to see what is hidden? What should I know about the Roachlord’s plans, and followers in the court? Who else in the court is a proven ally to the Lord of Light, that I might count them as my ally as well? “Additionally, I suspect you know that the Goblin King is kidnapping children from Zobeck, changing them into goblins, and forcing them into servitude. While my primary aim here is to protect the people of Zobeck--and now, to thwart the Roachlord’s plots--I couldn’t sleep if I let those children stay in bondage. When the time comes, after the Demon is defeated, would you aid me in getting those children out of slavery?”
