thanks - couldn't remember if Venture Agents got the star adjustment to run scenarios - I've run True Dragons (at Gencon when it launched - so I think that counts even though I can't rerun it currently?) - if it does count i think I'm at my 10 specials!
Siege of Diamond City 2x
Seige of Serpents (3x)
The Sky Key Solution (3x)
True Dragons of Absalom (1x - at GenCon)
Race for the Runecarved Key 1x
now for 50 different scenarios and my last 32 tables.... and the observed run as I get close to 150....
I am pleased to announce that Ravenwolf Silvermoon is now the Venture Agent for Ft Smith, AR. He has been instrumental in the organization of conventions in Ft Smith and supporting Pathfinder Society. Ft. Smith is located in Northwest Arkansas meaning that he will report directly to Andrew Tillis, Northwest Arkansas Venture Lieutenant. We look forward to seeing many new and great things from Ravenwolf as he grows and expands his area.
I am pleased to announce that Jonathan Westmoreland is now the Venture Agent for Game Planet, located in Hot Springs, AR. He has been instrumental in the creation of Spa Con that ended last weekend and promoting PFS. Hot Springs is located in Central Arkansas meaning that he will report directly to Justin Coleman, Central Arkansas Venture Lieutenant. We look forward to seeing many new and great things from Jonathan as he grows and expands his area.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce Arkansas's newest Venture Lieutenant, supporting NWA, Andrew Tillis. He has been supporting Pathfinder for the past year as a GM and was promoted to Venture Agent (unofficially in November) and officially in January. He has assisted in organizing conventions and ensuring Game Days were being held.<br>
His most recent accomplishment is to have two locations in his area that have expanded to 2-3 full tables every other week.<br>
Please take a moment and welcome him to our great Society.
It does. (so new players who show up are given their own unique PFS player number)
Are we allowed to do that for home table games or just public sanctioned events we run? I am running the AP for a group of friends, not as a public event.
Every new player should have their own number if they are going to have a character that they will use in PFS, the event does not need to public.
If the player is not going to play PFS, then they do not have to have a number (you may want it for reporting purposes, but they do not have to have one).
If you think you will be giving chronicle sheets, you should either have them sign up or you can provide them their numbers at the table.
Martin gave you the steps for the latter, I have enclosed below.

Directions:
Go to My Account, log in.
Find the Pathfinder Society block, and click on the title or other embedded link, which will bring you to the My Pathfinder Society page.
Click on the GM/Coordinator tab.
If you haven't already, click on the Create New Event button, and fill out your event information.
Once you save that event, a new section will appear at the bottom of the page:
Pathfinder Society Cards
Below that will be two buttons:
- Reserve Ten More Pathfinder Society Cards
- Download Ten Most Recent Pathfinder Society Cards
I am not sure if you need to reserve first, or can just use the Download link right away, but when you can, it downloads a single page PDF containing ten ID cards.
Those cards will have a PFS number, around the middle of the card, and a confirmation code at the bottom.
I print out two copies, one I cut up, one I leave whole, and use the whole sheet to notate who I gave the individual cards to, for you I would just use a paper clip and the card as a piece with the chronicles, so they are all a bundle; and use the whole sheet just as a reminder as to whom you assigned each number. The ten numbers are typically sequential.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce Andrew Tillis as my Venture Agent, attached to Gear Gaming Store in Fayetteville, AR. He has been instrumental in organizing Gear Gaming Store in Fayetteville, AR for the last year. His experience organizing GlitchCon 2015 has also proven to the team that he can take on the role of acting Venture Lieutenant for Northwest Arkansas supporting me in growing the area. Please welcome him to the team.
Here are the questions I have on the FAQ that was created.
Spoiler:
Battle Host: What exactly does it mean that the battle host’s implement is immune to the broken condition? Can it never be destroyed? Can you use it over and over again with abilities that break your weapon for a benefit?
In this particular instance, what it does is slightly different than the usual meaning of “immune.” It means that the implement suffers no penalties, even if it becomes broken. It can still gain the broken condition, and, it still counts as having the broken condition for the purpose of effects that escalate if you have the broken condition (such as effects that give the broken condition, or destroy the target if it already has the broken condition). As usual, you can’t use an effect that breaks a weapon if it already has the broken condition. An explanation will be included in the next errata.
I need to have more clarification on this, because of the rest of the occultist information for this Bonded Item, this updated statement seems to 1. Nerf what was originally intended for the Battle Host, and I believe the class is already nerfed enough (by GMs).
"The bonded item is immune to the broken condition for as long as the battle host lives." - Why would we change this to allowing the panoply bonded item to be able to "gain" the broken condition.
It seems this is not the case based on the second line "If a battle host dies and is restored to life, the bonded item is also restored
if it was destroyed." So it seems that the only way to destroy the bonded item would be if the battle host dies, and it is restored when they are brought back to life.
These two statements obviously mean that these items cannot be broken or destroyed as long as the battle host is alive.
Second question, this specifically states "At 1st level, a battle host formsa supernatural bond with a specific weapon, suit of armor, or shield. This selection is permanent and can never be changed. The bonded item is masterwork quality and the battle host begins play with it at no cost."
a. What it does NOT say is that this can be limited to half plate and not allow the player to choose full plate as their implement when selecting Battle Host. This needs to be put in errata one way or another, if there are limits, please make sure we state them so that we don't have issues. I allow my players to select full plate because it is on the core rule book lists of always available items.
b.This needs to be clarified, because if there are limits, we need to have these addressed. Obviously it says masterwork, so they get the masterwork quality. Does this mean no special quality such as adamantine or mithril, technically those special properties and that is not really addressed in the description at all.
This brings me to the last point.
" Any magic powers associated with a battle host’s bonded item function only for the battle host; in the hands of anyone else it is only a masterwork item. "
This obviously means that there should be something magical added to this weapon, what is that and what are the limits. Because if they can "break" and "destroy" the weapon as the FAQ states now, then why would I give up almost all of my implements, magic cirles, and all to get this that really only gets a masterwork armor or weapon, that cannot have special properties, can be broken/destroyed, does not have any special abilities or powers attached to it?
I am playing one now and I am not finding the battle host fun with all the limits especially now that people can "break" my weapon... (I did not choose the armor, because I wanted to be able to update it later - and I was not sure about the special properties and whatnot)
I am pleased to announce that Christopher Collins is now the Venture Agent for Dragon's Keep, located in Fayetteville AR. He has been instrumental in running games as a GM, promoting PFS in the new location and helping me and my VL manage the day to day schedule of games and coming up with special events at this location. Obviously, he was one of the first choices I had when the new VA program came out. I know he will work well with the store owners and help expand PFS in the community.
Woo hoo, congrats to the new VCs. You all are joining a great team of people who will support you if you have questions, want to chat, or want to arrange rooms for GenCon lol.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce Jake Owens of Fayetteville, Arkansas as my Adventure Card Game Venture Lieutenant. He has been instrumental in organizing the card game in Arkansas. As ACG Venture-Lieutenant, Jake will be responsible for further organization of the card game in Arkansas.
Please take a moment and welcome him to our great Society.
Thank you for all you have given to help us and expand PFS! We will continue to work hard and continue promoting Pathfinder Society while you are "on break" we will see you again soon! :D
It gives me great pleasure to introduce Justin Coleman of Little Rock, Arkansas as my Venture Lieutenant. He has been instrumental in organizing Pathfinder Society in my area and he has shown me he is up to the task of growing our community in Central Arkansas.
Please take a moment and welcome him to our great Society.
I like to thank everyone who posted on my original post My first Pathfinder Society / Pathfinder game EVER n my character is Dead. I followed everyone who advised to play again and contacted the Venture Captain.
Overall I had a good experience, and will be returning next week. I have been in contact with the Venture Captain, and the Game Master has even contacted me to handle the issues I brought up.
Sebastian, thanks for your explanation. I will keep the September convention in mind.
How is GM credit handled with campaign mode? What counts as a "session"? Is there any more documentation about this then in the Guide to Organized Play? Is that the "RPG" checkbox on the module in the event creating form?
Sorry for the many questions.
HOPE THIS HELPS, IF IT DOESN'T PM ME / Email me jlgibe@att.net
How is GM credit handled with campaign mode? It is like running the Rise of the Runelords, when the group completes the first book, you can give them a chronicle sheet for part 1 and allow them to apply it to any PFS character within the level range. They will get 3xp, 4pp, and the gold listed on the chronicle sheet for completing the entire book, each book completed would earn 1 level for a PFS character the player chooses to apply it to. You record it and get 2 GM points as well.
What counts as a "session"? Slot 4-8 time period where a PFS Game or Module is scheduled. Table 3-6 people playing in a slot. Sessions are How many slots x tables.
For example My con runs 3 days. It has a total of 3 slots per day (9 total slots) and we anticipate 3 tables per slot (3x9 = 27).
That's 27 sessions.
Is there any more documentation about this then in the Guide to Organized Play? YES
Is that the "RPG" checkbox on the module in the event creating form? NO, that checkbox is to determine if you are playing Pathfinder Society or Core Campaign (Core Campaign can only use things from the Core Rulebook or Chronicle sheets, if the player has the appropriate reference materials.)
As far as rewarding 4 & 5 star GMs, they get a +4 or +5 respectively to their reroll in every game and they get to replay 4 or 5 scenarios (per recharge, which may be a seasonal thing), right? That said, I understand that some scenarios are complicated enough that they should probably only be run by experienced GMs and the star system helps build confidence in the experience of said GMs. Scenarios that fit that bill should probably be limited to 4/5 star GMs just to ensure they are run correctly each and every time (although there will probably still be a few cases where there are errors made).
How often do you think 4 and 5 star GMs play compared to the time they spend GMing? Do you think the bonus to one reroll a game and replay is sufficient reward for someone who has dedicated more than 500 volunteer hours to PFS to give at least 400-600 people entertainment? Or should we strive for providing additional rewards for those folks?
In my experience, most 4 and 5 star GMs run games because they take great pride and pleasure in doing so, often more than they like playing. Shouldn't we provide rewards that fuel into that passion?
I am going to say this to further Mike's statement on this, I am only a 3 star GM, I'm about to be 4 star and I will already have my 10 specials done by the time I get my 4th star, but I will say as I am developing a new area into PFS, I run EVERY week at least once, and if I get to play one time a month - I am lucky. I do not mind this, but I wanted to make it clear, I don't mind 4/5 exclusives... even if VOs do not have access to them until a year later.
Also, I started with PFS June 1, 2013 at A-kon 24.
2013 -> Played 35/ GM 9
2014 -> Played 22/ GM 39
2015 -> Played 2 / GM 11
I see this complaint a lot still and I do not really see it as a valid one anymore. There is a very strong online community with 4 and 5 star gms and online conventions for both VTT and PbP, they even give out boons. The games are there you just need to look a little harder. Try reaching out to one of the Online VOs (yes there are specific VOs just for online play) who would love to show you how to get started.
That's a fair statement to make. However, not every online convention gets Paizo support. To further complicate matters, those conventions are still held to a standard that's expected for RL conventions in order to qualify being able to run special events. Speaking from experience, that's rather extraordinary for it to occur.
That is false. every online convention that the online VOs have submitted a request for has received support, including PDFs for GMs and prize suppor in the form of product PDFs and boons.
Mike is correct, there was only one 1 Online Convention that I never received the boon from for GMing and Playing, but that was not because it was not supported, I found out that the organizer had some issues and email him myself and was able to get the boons I was missing... All conventions that SIGN UP ON TIME are supported.
I'm honnoured to congratulate Gérald Colliou, who has earned his 5th GM Star.
Gérald is involved in PSOP since the 1st season, and he is one of the most engaged GM in France. During the last 5 years, he has done a really good job to help the development of the campaign in France, Switzerland and also online.
It's always a pleasure to live an adventure with him, as a player or GM, online or arround a table.
Congratulations, Gérald, you deserve your 5th star !
I will only be able to run 1, I'm staff with the First Aid department this year, so my badge is taken care of. But I can't remember my login for this site, I would like to run the Blood Under Absolom (Tier 3-5 if possible.
Has anyone else noticed the shift in the nature of the posts by our VCs?
In the past the VCs where not afraid to show their emotions in their posts, to argue with others when they where in disagreement. It was not unusual to see emotions fly about from the VCs, to stick to their guns and vehemently argue their sides!
Now we see post like "Thank you for your input", "That is a valid argument, but...", "(Explain rule) and see Additional resources for similar questions", when in the past we would see posts to the equivalent of things like "Yeah that rule is not going to change so no there is no reason to ask", "Man, will you stop arguing the same point over and over again it is getting annoying!" and "Grrrrr for the last time look at Additional resources, Good day to you sir!"
I miss the days when I used to get death threats in my email from VCs, VCs telling me to shut-up!** VCs acting like real posters not just throwing around rote.
I wonder if they release their anger of us lowly PFS players in their super secret VC forums to vent what they used to say in the open?
Mark Garringer: "Argh Dragnmoon is complaining again!"***
Michael Griffin-Wade: "Yeah I know, I wish he would shut up!"
Dave Woodfin: "Hey at least you guys don't live near him!"
* Post mostly in jest, but I have noticed a change in attitude by the VCs in the forums.
** No email death threats where actually ever received by VCs, but I am sure I have been told to shut up ;)
*** Yeah I know you guys talk about me!
Did you eat your cookie yet Steven, Welcome to the TEAM :D
"On the new player table, a smart organizer will "stack the deck" by including a seasoned player at the table to help others learn. This helps the GM focus on the game and running the table while ensuring the player has questions answered in a timely manner. A smart GM uses the seasoned player to give the new player a little attention. A peer who knows the ropes in the game is helpful to everyone and keeps the table moving...
"
This is usually what I do and encourage the GMs to do as well, it allows them to focus on the storytelling.
A few chronicle sheets give you things for free. If so, GMs get them too. Otherwise, GMs have to pay for stuff on their chronicle sheets just like players do.
But GMSs definitely get access to everything on the chronicle sheet (that is appropriate to the character's tier and faction).
It is my great honor to announce the promotion of our newest VL, Zak Glade. Zak was one of many GM's who I looked up to when I first started in PFS in 2012. He is on my short list of GM's that anyone visiting Michigan should go out of their way to play under. Some of the greatest local memories were made at his tables.
But more than great game mastering, a VL needs some organizing chops as well, and Zak has really stepped up to the plate in that area as well. As our region is bursting with public organized games averaging 25 days a month, Zak is helping bring some stability to one of our busiest locals, as well as help man some of our conventions.
I wanted to take a minute to welcome aboard the new Venture-Captain assigned to Salem, OR. I will let Timothy Wallace introduce himself, advise about any websites he will utilize for coordinating, and any other information he wishes to share.
As for areas that fall within his region, he will cover the area around Salem and Keizer.
I wanted to take a minute to welcome aboard the new Venture-Captain assigned to West Virginia. I will let Andrew Shumate introduce himself, advise about any websites he will utilize for coordinating, and any other information he wishes to share.
As for areas that fall within his region, he will cover all of West Virginia with the help of the current VLs.
Welcome to the team!
Welcome to the team Andrew Shumate, have a great time.
I wanted to take a minute to welcome aboard the new Venture-Captain assigned to Topeka, KS. I will let Jake Prewitt introduce himself, advise about any websites he will utilize for coordinating, and any other information he wishes to share.
As for areas that fall within his region, he will cover the area around Topeka.
Welcome to the team!
Congrats to Jake Prewitt!!! We cannot wait to see what amazing things you will do! :D
FLGS owner perspective: I would be happy to charge people to play in my store, and in turn give my GMs that much store credit. This system, and others like it, ensure a constant sale of goods when I have game days. I'm tentative to start such an operation in my store, as we have a good stable of PFS participants and I wouldn't want an initiative like this to scare them off. The projected gains do not outweigh the possible losses.
When asked, we all voted on no fees. I think this is the most effective if it was not started at the beginning of the store set up. People randomly donate to the store and they in turn use the donated money to provide scenarios for the GMs, but we do not make it mandatory at all.
