"We weren't trying to!" Josef reminds the man.

He hadn't realized Ka'elen could heal himself. That simplified matters a bit. And Ma'elo is so close to him now, Josef can bandage his wound without using magic. He does that as he casts another bolt of electricity at the Ninth Army attacker.

On the one hand, Ka'elen is clearly worse off than he is. On the other hand, the others will hopefully be able to finish off the lion, and if he goes down he won't be able to heal anyone else, either.

Josef sees Ma'elo's injury, but thinks for the moment it's probably still better to focus on offense, a decision that he hopes he won't come to regret. He moves towards the middle, bringing everyone in range of his spells, then sends a surge of electricity into both lions.

"I can't say I understand how that plan is supposed to work," says Josef, "Can you explain it a little more? My father and step-mother were formidable adventurers when they were younger. They've helped a lot of people, but I can't imagine them trying to help by making those people fight each other."

"What was that about a contract?"

Josef still hasn't cast any actual healing spells. He's probably being unnecessarily conservative with them, but if they have time... he tends Maelo's injury the hard way.

Josef sees that a few of the Pathfinders are hurt, but it doesn't look like healing is the best thing to do quite yet. He falls back and aims lightning at the two most injured thugs.

It's not a spell a village priest usually learns, but his step-mother is a wizard, and he did pick up a little growing up around her.

Josef can be diplomatic, but some of the other Pathfinders seem better at it. He stays mostly quiet and observes. He's better at that.

While he wants to preserve his better spells in case he needs them later (besides, he doesn't want them to get up and start attacking them again), Josef offers enough healing magic to the fallen thugs that at least they won't die.

Noting that he's the only Pathfinder even slightly injured, he leaves it at that for now.

He touches the trickle of blood under where the rock struck his head. "I think we're fine, though a few minutes to tend this cut wouldn't be unwelcome."

Josef is a half-human dromaar. He wears rugged clothing and a pendant with the symbol of Erastil. He has a bow slung over his shoulder and medic's tools at his belt.

Given the message, he tucks his wayfinder into a pocket.
"I'm Josef," he says, "healer and medic. This sounds like a very strange assignment."

Josef is about to heal Clebsch, but Granny beats him to it.
More healing magic wouldn't hurt, and might double as an effective offense, but he doesn't want to hurt Niccolo...

So instead he continues focusing on offensive magic to try to hinder their ability to inflict more damage. And also arrows.
