If a person has acted in a surprise round (i.e. no longer flat footed), do they get a reaction? The situation is, the PC has moved right up to an enemy, and the enemy is about to cast a spell. If the PC has a reaction, the spell would trigger an AoO.

The rule says, "combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents can each take either a standard or move action during the surprise round. Characters can also take swift actions during the surprise round."

A reaction is described as a "special action."

I read together, I read the surprise rule as being exhaustive of all possible actions that may be taken, and the reaction rule classifying a reaction as a "special" action, but an "action" nonetheless.

It just seems excessive to me for someone to be able to be able to take two actions in a surprise round in the normal course.

This is an appreciation post for SFS 4-12 "A Festive Operation", and a request that there be more holiday-themed repeatable scenarios for both Pathfinder and Starfinder.

Hi, sorry for the proliferation of threads, but I could not find this answer despite having looked.

Can the racial admittance boons still be used, with the ACP races being introduced? My concern is I have a

Spoiler:
stellifera
boon that I don't want to go to waste, and it is a race not offered through ACP that I can see.

Question about something that happens:

Quote:

On a success, tendrils shoot from the dragon into

the PC and impart them with a fraction of the dragon’s power,
which functions identically to a mk 2 personal upgrade (or mk 3
personal upgrade for Levels 13–14). The dragon can give this gift
to each PC only once.

Presumably this means (at e.g. high tier) that the bonus is permanent, that it would not affect someone who already had a mk 3 personal upgrade, and you couldn't then get a mk 3 personal upgrade later?

I'm not even at 2nd Nova yet, but I want to be able to plan for achieving the 5th Nova. I have some questions re. the requirements:

Quote:

A GM must accomplish the following baseline achievements to qualify for their fifth nova:

Report 150 sessions as GM.
Run 50 different adventures.
Run 10 or more scenarios featuring the Exclusive tag.
Complete 3 observation games in the presence of a venture-captain, a regional venture-coordinator, or a member of the Paizo Organized Play staff (see below for rubric).

Is there a distinction between "reporting 150 sessions as GM" and "run(ning) 50 different adventures"? Also what is the meaning of an "adventure," as opposed to say a module from an AP, or a scenario?

What are scenarios with the Exclusive tag? I've seen this expressed as a special before. Seems to me it would be a challenge to GM more than 2 specials a year if that's the case, and I've yet to GM one.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, I found no other similar threads!

Sorry, this question has probably been asked before but I went and looked and didn't find it. Would really love to keep playing my high-level characters.

When you play APs for Society, how do you handle that each module only levels up one level, but the modules go up two levels? (I hope I’m making that clear, I can’t think of a better way of expressing that). We tried playing 2 APs at once, or doing 3 scenarios in between. It’s kind of unsatisfactory.

Good day, for a number of months I've had it in my mind that I would like to organize a con. I've discussed this a bit with my VC and the core members of my SFS group. I've attended a few cons before (in person and online) but have never organized something like this. Wondering if I could get some pointers from some veterans.

These are the kinds of things I am considering:

- Timing: Kind of don't know how much time these things take to organize, and how much notice the gaming world likes to have. Depending on how long and how much effort it will take, and considering my own schedule, thinking probably November or January

- In person or online: Probably online, even if everything returns back to normal. Frankly probably not enough interest locally (Edmonton, Alberta)

- Whether to run a special or not: I have no experience and this and may not be a thing that someone without experience should try

- What to run: I play SFS almost exclusively. Have played/GM'd PFS in the past. Not super sure what my PFS comrades are doing for the most part in this city, I think they are only doing PF1E right now.

- Getting a sufficient number of GMs: From what I've observed, it seems like tapping into the world-wide pool of GMs makes this not as big of a concern. Locally we have 4-8 people who can GM and may be willing to help.

What are some considerations I am missing? Thanks everyone.

Just curious if you've ever experienced or even witnessed a character death in SFS? I have never seen one. If you have, I'm curious as to what level the character was.

Went to go buy some t-shirts, there were only two to choose from in L. I'm guessing they aren't big sellers maybe. Anyway, would've bought more, would like to see more in the future.

So, for my first character I took a feat (skill synergy) which through level advancement became useless (as a Mystic I got insight bonuses to the skills I had chosen that obviously do not stack with skill synergy). I knew twigged to this early on but kept putting off getting a mnemonic editor. Now the character is level 9. Retraining is clearly out, as it not allowed in society. Mnemonic editor as I understand it is also out, as you can only re-do the advancements from the last two levels. I think I understand this but want to confirm I'm SOL.

Given that Earth is canon in Pathfinder, is it canon in Starfinder?

If so, my real question is, are we in The Gap presently?

I was surprised to see Weydan as the deity of socialists. What other ideologies do you associate with which gods? I think of Abadar being the god of neoliberalism.

Hi, I take it that the present year in game is 320 AG? Or does it only change to 320 when Season 3 begins?

Are there any SFS scenarios that take place on or around Liavra or Bretheda?

Hi, I know that we are still waiting to hear how Gencon Online is going to work, I was just wondering if there was any update as to Paizo's plans?

I have a question: Is there an SFS legal way to make an android that resembles a human child? I was thinking that the size would be the hangup but I note that Xenometric Android is legal and allows for small sizes. I wonder if this could also be accomplished by just having their size remain medium, but for flavour purposes making them 3-4' tall. Thank you.

I am making a 1st level Tengu with 18 intelligence, and with one rank in Linguistics. By my count, I should be able to get 8 languages (Common, Tengu, 4 from my Int modifier, and 2 from the rank in Linguistics). Hero Lab disagrees, thinks I should have 6.

Who's right?

Trying to report a home game that I had. Tried entering the player information, it immediately said (something to the effect of)"Prestige doesn't count, player number not entered" ... I thought this was just a first-timer fluke, so (I thought that) I deleted the event as some of the other threads indicate should be done and tried entering it again as another event. Same error.

(as an aside, I'm assuming that if I want the Chronicle Sheet to apply to another character later, I enter myself as GM but also as a player? that's what the other threads on this subject seem to have said, unless I misread them. that would make 2 big errors today. :b)
