Johanna readies to attack as they come in range. She will plan on parrying and riposting their attack as well. Effectively blocking and attacking one of them twice.

I'm actually running the kingdom building in 2 other games. I haven't looked at where this one is. The former king was taking care of it. He at one time was running a Kingmaker variant where each player started a kingdom as regents with one ruler at the Stag fort. That was a fun game while it lasted.

I'm pretty well versed in the kingdom building so if the group needs or wants me too I can take it over. I certainly don't mind if someone else does it. I don't want to take on too much :)

there are rules in Kingmaker for lyre of building. It reduces the cost of any building by 2BP. Doesn't sound like much but if you think of it in BP it is 13000gp so that is 7BP if you have the kingdom by it. It pays for itself in 4 months. When you can build more than one building a month it really pays off.

I'm fine as is. The nature of Play by Post is we always lose some. I'm surprised there aren't more post with the pandemic and all. Whatever everyone else wants I'm fine with.

Yes highest charisma should be the ruler. A couple would be best. It's better for the kingdom :)

Heading back to the settlement. Now that we have new members. We took out the Troll stronghold did we have anything else besides bounties right now? I don't remember.

I put myself next to it as I was entering the lair to lure it out. Everyone but me and the Hodag should get a surprise round on it.

You can't ready outside of combat. The system kind of breaks down if you do. Everyone else could have a surprise round though as I lure it out.

I was using guilt by association and grouping him in. That clears things up.

Our Governor opened up the beaches for walking/running. Still not supposed to gather more than 10 people. Talks of sending kids back to school on May 1st. We will see. I fear we will end up like New York here in Florida.

Doh, we should have talked. I know a lot of DM's will make the perception checks when a player has trapfinding assuming they are always looking out especially while actively adventuring. Please assume Johanna is always checking things like this in the future. I just don't say it as I don't have to in most games but that's on me :) She has a +16 for trapfinding ;)

I don't remember as I joined late was there rumor or mention of the ruins being on the island to the south? Just didn't want to meta game and make a beeline on tile exploration if there were no rumors about it.

Alright let's play this out a bit then.

Johanna calls a town meeting upon return. SHe allows Isabel to address the populace on what has happened. The remaining council is to rule but will be looking and interviewing new members. Any interested can come meet at the tavern/inn for a sit down.

Later that night at the tavern/inn.

"Greetings adventurers. I am Johanna Atsuko kingdom spymaster. Please introduce yourselves."

Following Genrimul's intro.

"THat is well and good but do you not have a name. It is not polite to not introduce yourself properly. And what of you two? Go on speak what interest do you have in joining our council."

Yeah, the best way to move forward would be like in other Kingmaker games I have been in is that we rule as a council. The ruler/rulers are just the figureheads that make speeches and relay info to the populace. Sort of like a roman republic that still has an emperor. So a new person becoming the ruler is a bit awkward either way but it will work out. Probably best not to overthink it and just put people in the best-suited roles and move on.

Johanna hugs Isabel and cries with her as she prepares to leave. She knows too well the feeling of losing family. After goodbyes are said. She looks to the others.

"Who will rule? Shall we go out and look for members of the populace to help govern?"

I have a cha 14 so certainly not the best for being a ruler. Maybe the new bard has a high charisma.
