Jock washes out on the bumper bridge, leading to an embarassing situation with a pond, a shallow area of mud and some unfortunate facial expressions caught on camera. Luckily, ceiling cat Technological Constant is available to bail Jock out without too much delay. By the time the replays finish, the team is ready to continue.

Dorini has summon robot spell, which seems appropriate since we are facing summoned creatures. But when I look at the available creatures at level -1 with the tech trait, their sources are adventure modules, so I'm not sure if their PFS legal. If they are, I'd suggest summoning a mechanizer sabotuer. If these are not an option, then I'd have her stride twice up onto that platform just north of the PC starting area and interact to draw her laser pistol. I placed her icon on the map and moved her as described above. If she summons instead, she would be next to Jock in the starting area.

If the party option includes dancing, I suspect acrobatics will be a useful skill, which several of us have as trained skills. Performance and music related skills will probably also be an option.

Jock contemplates how successful he would have been had he attempted this task using his idea to play his sax and when people give him tips, he'd give them one of the items as a special reward. He plays his sax anyway, but off to the side so he doesn't distract potential marks .... er customers.

Jock does not volunteer for this task. He watches to see if any of the more socially savvy members of the team volunteer. His life as a soldier has not given him much practice making friends and influencing people. He's willing to give the old Starfinder try, but remains silent, glancing at the others to see who might step forward.

Feel free to look at Jock's profile for the skills he is trained in and any other abilities that might prove useful. In general, he is better at physical tasks then tasks that require knowledge or social skills. He is good at performance (plays the sax and acts) and knows a bit about religion.

Jock Burtan arrives using a holoskin to create his Spookyween costume. He appears as a stereotypical pirate of romantic holovids, with a three-cornered hat, complete with a big curving feather, an ornate coat (modifying his freebooter armor appearance), a colorful sash and bandana, an earing, eyepatch (non-functional), and a peg-leg. His stellar canon looks like a blunderbuss, his plasma sword, a flintlock pistol, and his fangblade, a greatsword. Looking out of place, he also has a synth-sax at the ready.

Okay. I was confused because the weapon has an area trait which normally doesn't require a strike roll.
I'm still not clear on how the saves apply. If the Primary Target strike hits, does that damage apply entirely, just like any attack vs. AC? Or does the target get a reflex save and if so, do they have to make two reflex saves, one for each rolled damage amount, or just one save for the combined amounts?

I made the primary target roll and got an 18. Then I rolled damage. It is my understanding you don't make a strike roll for an area attack. Enemies just roll saves.

Since this is my first time running this character and using this attack mode, I want to make sure I understand it.
Jock's previous post, the one that included the extra action of a stride, did make a 1d10 roll for damage and got a 9. Was the 1d10 roll made by the GM replacing that roll or was that for something else?
Damage was 9. Was that from Jock's damage roll or was it the 1d10 roll for 7 + 2 for something else?
