Jin looks around and quickly casts Prestidigitation on himself, cleaning himself from the sand and seaweed, till he is content with his pristine appearance. He then proceeds to methodically grab the rest of his belongings from the pile. He looks to the other warriors. "I am as fine as can be expected. Well met. I am Jindariel, elven scholar, en route to the Mwangi ruins. Last thing I remember I was in the ship imbibing some rum and food. And now I awaken on a beach?! I ask as well, where is the ship?" He looks to the 5 strangers as well for answers, noticing the beauty of the elven female. Jindariel looks around, trying to find ship or perhaps some historical landmark.
Does Jindariel recall his spells? If so.. Round 1: Jin's eyes light up, as he sees the danger and his hands light up with electricity, as he attempts to touch the scorpion moving up his leg! Shocking grasp touch attack: 1d20 ⇒ 19
If he does not have his spells, then Jin grabs his rapier from the pile and stabs at the creature with it (apply attack roll).
Hello, this is Lucendar. I am a frequent poster and GM a couple of PbPs. I would like to submit Jindariel, elven Mwangi scholar and mage (diviner) (sheet in profile). I loved playing him in another Serpent Skull PbP that died way too early (a little past the beach). He's tough (hence Toughness feat) but very brainy (18 Int) and superior, so it's nice to play him that way and see him get cut down to size in game. I really missed playing him so thanks for the opportunity to apply. 1. Why is he aboard the ship?
"I've never been here before, but those line could be roads or more likely, trails. As for freshwater, I doubt it, since they all seem to connect to the sea, but perhaps, we could find a waterfall or something on this tropic isle. Only way to know for sure is to explore and to start with the coast, so we have a reference point to not get lost." Jin asks Pyrra to fill up his waterskin. "We have a couple of hours now, if you're willing, at least to get some clue as to what we face."
Once we give Jask back his equipment, Jin speaks to the party. "Looks like we'll leave the castaways in the camp to protect it, if they're willing. It's going to fall on us five to explore the island and find help. The lighthouse may be our best option but that's pretty far away. We may have to start with exploring the coastline south. Any ideas?"
Jin takes a drink of the brandy and chats a little with Aerys, if she is willing to divulge her elven parentage and reason for traveling. If not, he wishes her good drinking and moves to Jask. "I recommend we give Jask his gear back. He was convicted fairly or unfairly it appears of corruption, a non-violent crime. If we want his participation in the defense of the camp, he needs to be fully outfitted so he can serve as its medic." If no one stops him, Jin gives him his gear back.
Jin looks up from his reading. "Looks like the Captain went mad, paranoid, and obsessive on us! He was crazy in love with Ieana and thought that First Mate Devers should be killed in an "accident". It seems it was Ieana's idea to come to Smuggler's Shiv and it was the Captain's idea to drug us to get rid of the crew and keep Ieana to himself. So we have part of the why and how we're here on this isle." Jin then lays out the maps and shows the party/castaways where we are.
Jin helps moving supplies as best he can until he can go no more. Though not used to getting his hands dirty, he was also not used to being stranded on an island, so he could not complain. Drenched in sweat, he takes a dip in the ocean and afterwards, he casts Prestidigitation on himself. He then finds a cool spot in the shade, opens his satchel and starts reading the Captain's log to see if it can provide a clue as to what happened. Next, he studies the nautical charts and tries to find the Shiv on them. While doing so, he looks up at Anika, "We many have the food problem under control, but what are we going to do about getting some fresh water? Other than this bottled brandy I found, there's nothing else to drink."
Jin grabs the model, the brandy, and the coffer and puts them in his satchel. Then he will lift as much food as his 10 Strength allows him and take 10 to climb up Timor's rope. When he reaches the cliffs, he will look for a safe place for to leave the food for it not to be blown into the sea, if there is one. If not, he will leave it on the beach, return, climb down and repeat until the tide changes.
"Hey people, found some stuff, including a sharkskin backpack." Jin puts away, rather obviously, the sea charts and maps and the captain's log in his leather satchel to keep them dry. He then tries the keys on the locked third drawer and the footlocker. If they work, great. If not, he waits for Brehna to come up from her dive and then calls to her loudly, "Brehna, we got some locked drawers over here. Need your skills." Meanwhile, he yells to the rest of the group, "Anyone seen some scroll tubes?"
GM Idyll wrote: I should know this, but is the range on Acid splash's range 25'? If that's the case, would the penalty be -3 for the extra distance? Also, what's the penalty for shooting through your teammates? Correct, range is 25'. However, from the map, I could not tell if Jin has line of sight to it or if it's on a deck below. That's why I posted as soon as it appears, presumably at J8. I stepped to K13 so I should have a clear shot to it since no one is engaging it, but your call.
"Sorry to make you uncomfortable, Anika. I'm sure you're right." Jin smiles politely and continues walking. Bah! Revealed my hand too soon. I'll find out who you really are, Anika, in time, if that is even your true name. For now, there are more pressing matters, and as long as you don't put a knife in my back, I could hardly care.
Jin speaks, as they walk along the beach, "As I said before, I am a mage. Pyrra, healer, I presume? Ishirou, katana warrior? Anika, no idea as to your skillset. Timor, pompous swordsman, Brehna, your lockpick comment makes me thing a roguish sort with wilderness skills, Gelik, a bard and a quite good one. Jask and Aerys, I have no idea. It would help if we knew each other's skillsets to form a more cohesive unit. History tells us the best fronts in war have always been united." |
