Completely fair! I missed that post in my haste to dot! Enjoy and let me know if a spot opens up! Thanks anyway :)
Hmmm.... After discussing it with my players, I think I'm going to go with a 20 pt build and a pared down Mythic tier (bestowed by the mantle of the Black Rider). They don't know that part yet but I think it will work better for all involved than a DMPC or followers. The tier will consist of +2 to one ability score, Hard to Kill, Mythic Power 5/day, Surge and a Mythic Feat, as a bonus fest, from a short hand-picked list. No other Mythic tiers will be awarded and I won't be using or allowing anything else from Mythic Adventures. I think I'll leave it at Medium XP, and reassess if we add another player down the road. Thanks for the suggestions! Gave me lots to think about!
I'm prepping to run this and it looks pretty likely that my group will only be 3 players, at least for a while. Just how deadly would this AP be for 3 players (2 newbies and a veteran)? Could I run it as is? Would a DMPC be a good idea? Maybe mythic tiers? (Sorry if this is covered elsewhere. My search-fu is weak. If so, please point me in the right direction.) Thanks!
I just got my copy of Ultimate Campaign and am loving it! In particular, I love how the majority of the illustrations feature the iconics in a variety of states. That being said, there is one face I see over and over again that I don't recognize. There is a female elf or half-elf with long red hair on pgs. 19, 68, 105, and, possibly, 242. The fact that she shows up 3 or 4 times and that there is enough resemblance amongst these appearances leads me to believe they are intended to be the same person and that she is intended to be one of our iconics. No other non-iconic character appears more than once. The problem is that I have no idea who she is! My best guess is that she is either Reiko, the iconic ninja, or Lirianne, the iconic gunslinger, unmasked or unhatted, respectively. Am I missing someone? This is driving me nuts! :)
OVERWHELMING FORCE!!
I got the hex maps laminated and coloured over them in black dry-erase marker. I hung them on the wall behind our table and as the party explores I uncover the hexes. I've also laid out the borders of Brevoy, Numeria and the party's own kingdom with other colours. I've added post-it flags to mark important locations as well. It's been a great visual representation. We're about to start vol 4 and my players are just itching to start uncovering the Slough.
Quote: Just looking for some notes on the difficulty/work required to get this to look that good. Im thinking of delving into the cardstock terrain fun. I built the Undercrypt when it first came out. They are pretty easy to build, just time-consuming. The Undercrypt took me 4 seasons of Buffy to finish, but it was nothing more complicated than cut here glue there, follow the instructions. Hope that helps!
My group is fast approaching RRR and will be beginning to build their kingdom soon. I'm wondering if anyone has put together a player safe handout of the kingdom building rules? I looked through the forum but didn't see anything quite like this. I hesitate to just hand them the chapter because of sections like "Kingdom Events." I like to keep the random stuff a mystery! As a relatively new GM, having my players' help to keep most of these additional rules straight would be helpful. I would really rather not have to type the whole section out and edit it myself. Thanks!
My first long term character is still one of my favourites. Gnoll monk/rogue/shadowdancer (3.5, homebrew shared campaign), orphaned, raised by human carrot farmers, member of an all gnoll squad of a mercenary organization. Obsessed with two things:carrots and keeping her "human" heritage secret from the other gnolls. SHe did this by trying to out-"gnoll" the gnolls. She attempted to smell as bad as possible at all times, matted her mane into a mohawk, and adorned herself with pieces of her fallen enemies. This eventually backfired in two ways. First, a wizard she met (human, electrical specialist) took offence to her aroma and kept casting prestidigitation on her as she slept, making her wake up smelling like lemons or lilacs. She ended up really jumpy around spellcasters and always kept an eye out for a pile of filth to roll in! Second, and ultimately, in the last encounter of the the last campaign I played her in, she survived a bunch of acid damage but the GM (tbug) ruled that she was left nearly completely bald! I miss my stinky gnoll!
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Unfortunately my group has already played through Hollow's Last Hope, Crown of the Kobold King and Crypt of the Everflame.(We love Paizo and do a lot of short term stuff over the summer) I like the look of Flight of the Red Raven, any thoughts? I know it's a bit higher level, but the style really appeals to me. |
