Any groups in Victoria, BC?

Gamer Connection

I got into Pathfinder about a year and a half ago and have played in a couple of campaigns, but they were all GMed by my now-ex, so I am looking for a new group to join.

I really enjoy playing, and don't want to give it up, but I worry things will be a bit weird now as it was a really small group (some of them were solo campaigns).

Are there any groups in Victoria, BC that are looking for a new player?

I'm also looking for another group to play in.

Anyone in Victoria need more players?

Except for Fridays; I'm in my brother's campaign on Friday nights...

That makes two! And I can play on a non-Friday.

I thought it would be easier to find a Pathfinder group in Victoria! :(

How is it going so far in finding a group you two? I just moved here a month ago and found somewhat of a similar problem. Now have both of you looked a Facebook yet as there is the Victoria pathfinder society and a couple of other groups (one of which I run called the Jade Dragons). I also had an idea of trying to set up on Meet Up a D&D/Pathfinder group that could get the backing of Paizo, WotC and be at a neutral venue. My idea had been mixed with mixed reviews and in terms of getting others to help run it seems to be a exercise in futility. Any ways that is not why I am writing both of you. I am looking to find a few players and create a small Pathfinder group that wants to get together a few times a month that are like minded and passionate about pathfinder as I am and maybe run a few PFS scenarios. If you both are interested drop me a line, as I am looking create a small group of 4 to 6 players excluding the GM. I am looking mature mindset players who work well together and enjoy all three pillars of Pathfinder and that is Combat, exploration, and role playing. You can play any sort of character type or class as long as it balances out the party.(ie. a group of all fighters is interesting, but when you need a trap disarmed or some healing done that can be a little tricky). any ways I hope that you both have a pleasant day and i look forward to hearing from you.

Ooops! I haven't checked in here for a while. Distracted by that "work" stuff. I also thought this message thingy to email me about posts in forums like this. Oh well.

But, anyway; I'm still keen!

I'll drop you a line, for sure.

Victoria (as a resident for 15 years) is a bit of an odd fish for gaming, but it's picking up substantially in the last few years. Curious Comics and Interactivity Games have both opened public gaming areas, but they tend to focus on wargames and board games, respectively. Still, it's worth popping in to get a lay of the land, many of the gamers do a bit of everything, and there may be some looking for group posting.

Most of the public RPG groups were heavily populated by university students since UVIC was the central destination of The Victoria Gamers Society and The Victoria Gamers Meetup group (who meet at QVs now for boardgames) as well. This tended to drive the private groups ... to feel more private, since the population of the public groups rotates so frequently. You know how it is too, the whole bringing strangers into your home thing, and all.

Curious Comics, if you're in Victoria proper should be your first stop. They have a PFS schedule, but I'm not sure about its meeting location anymore. I believe it's still in the West Shore store.

If you're closer to the West Shore, then I suggest Everything Games. Alongside wargaming of all stripes, they too have a PFS event schedule (Last one ran June 15th).

Skyhaven Games tends to be more geared towards supporting CCGs, but the staff generally play a bit of everything, or know people who are. (One of their staff was a member of my group for a while).

Also, don't miss GottaCon when it comes up again next, they have a pretty robust RPG schedule, and a local Con is a great way to put a looking for group.

I'll keep this thread in mind as well, my group is going through something of reboot/hiatus while things like pregnancies, new jobs, summer, etc., sort themselves out and inevitably this means vacancies looking to be filled. We tend to focus on the APs and Modules, with palate cleanser games popping up every once in a while (L5R, Star Wars, 40K RPG, etc.). We're all professionals, mid-late-30's, clean living, mature adults with responsibilities who expect the same from everyone we game with.

Hi there!

Thanks for the advice and information. I'll probably have to give the Everything games a miss for their Pathfinder thing. I live out near Quadra and I'm usually busy with one thing or another every Sunday. I often pop by Curious Too on Sundays, but they're usually playing miniature games then.

I'll have to check out Skyhaven games one of these days. I depend on the bus to get about, though.

I'd be interested in your group if there's any vacancies. And it's not a Friday, when I'm partaking in my brother's campaign time. I'm definitely NOT a party animal either.

Thanks for the advice!

Hi, I am also in Victoria and have been wishing to get back into table top RPGs for awhile. I've been living here for 5 years and just haven't made any connections with folks that play. I'm still a bit of a noob but I'd love a group - especially something in a bit more of a classic sword and sorcery setting.

I'd be happy to host events at my place in cook street village if there was enough interest to start a game (I'd even be willing to DM if people could put up with a beginner)

I'm in my early 30s, professional, and very chill. I'd be happy to join an existing game as well, though I don't drive so something within somewhat easy biking distance would be preferable.

I'm still keen. I live near Quadra and Cloverdale and rely on the buses to get about.

I have 2 friends at Quadra and Finlayson (iirc) that also want to play - I think that's really near where you are! I'm going to check with them about whether they still want to play.... I don't really want to post my contact info on here cause... it's googleable

Anyway we will figure out how to exchange contacts shortly, gonna see what they think about starting something up and what days would be good for them.

So looks like my two friends in your neighbourhood are pretty keen to start up a game. We were thinking Sundays...

Anyway maybe it would be good for us all to meet and see if there is a good mesh...

VagrantWhisper, cycnet I am also looking to set up a couple of pathfinder games as well as I am also looking to play in a group of older gamers,(I am 41 myself.) I currently live near the downtown area and am quite familiar with cook street village, so if you are also looking for another player, drop me a line, Depending on the adventure I usually play a monk or Samurai, Unless it is a desert campaign then I break out my Dawnflower dervish fighter, or desert ranger.

Eric Flaig, VagrantWhisper, and cyent:

I've got you all beat in the older gamer department! My regular DM is my kid brother and he's 47! :D I'm 54 myself. We both started with Basic D&D back in the distant mists of time. Unfortunately, I had to take a prolonged hiatus from RPGs because of working nights for far too long.

But anyway… I'm rather partial to playing Pathfinder Bards or Sorcerers (the weirder the bloodline the better). Although there are some cool fighter and rogue archetypes I wouldn't mind trying sometime.

For races, I prefer playing Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, or Gnomes.

For alignment, I prefer Chaotic Neutral. Mostly because I'm fond of doing things MY way to try to get the party out of a fix.

Cynet:

Sundays, any time after 2:00 PM would be ideal for me, as luck would have it.

Quadra and Finnlayson isn't too far from me. I can usually walk there within 15 minutes from where I live.

What would be a good time/place to meet for a coffee sort of thing, then?

I should be free pretty much any time after 2:00 PM today. I usually have lunch out with my brother's family and friends every Sunday.

Xunal I sir give you 2 thumbs up for that comment, i love meeting Grognards (as Gary Gygax called them), who cut there teeth in 1e. My Dad gave me his original mid 70's white box to start out. I am partial to Pathfinder and 3.5 myself as well. I sent you a message if you are interested as me and a few guys are trying to set up a couple of games for are group.

Funny you should mention Gary Gygax. I met him the one time I went to Gen Con, back in 1981. Hard to believe it was that long ago! Mind you, I was one of many there who engaged him in small talk after he'd given a bit of a speech.

I remember the old boxed sets. That's going back a long ways! I still have my battered old (and cheap) dice from back then too.

I actually got around to checking out your websites. Looks interesting; I would be interested in that! Thanks!

Pardon the necromancy but is any one in Victoria looking for players?

This town is a bear for finding games. PFS seems to have dried up.

I just want to play :)
