I'm still here. Net access is a bit choppy though; my laptop's screen bricked.

Tulsino has the right of it to me; no claims on my part.

'ppreciate it, mate. Jeremiah replies before heading back to round up the rest of the party's mounts. Once the horses are brought back to the group and tied up, he assists Tulsino in straightening out the bodies. "Oh, by the way, keep an eye out for a wedding ring. Oleg told me Svetlana's got snatched by this lot and asked for us to try 'n' track it down."

Seeing that hostilities have ended, and that Cato appears to be seeing to Thaleles, Jeremiah moves up to where Gar'rak is and offers to take the reins of his mount. "Looks like your partner there needs your attention at the moment, an between you 'n' Tulsino here, kept more than a fair bit of the heat off the rest 'o us. I'll take care of this, need to go get the rest of them rounded up as it is." He looks about and nods. "Hell of a fight, both of ya. Here's hoping I'll be a bit more use next time around."

Just realized that I didn't specify my target with that last shot. I was intending to fire on the ogre.

As the bandits begin to retreat, Jeremiah switches back to his crossbow, firing off a shot as he moves over toward wherever Thaleles lands. "You might want to make your way over here Brennyn! Thales looks like he took a rough one here!"

Attack roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Jeremiah takes a hearty swing back at the bandit that struck him.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

"Hah! Looks like mine's bigger mate!"

Assuming that the bandit Jeremiah hits is down, I will work to run interference against any bandits trying to close with Cato. Brennyn's already got a battle-buddy, and Gar'rak and Tulsino are big boys now!

Male Human Inquisitor/3 | HP: 18/18 | AC: 20/13/17 | CMB/D: +3/16 | F/R/W: 5/4/7 | Init: +7 | Perc: +11

"Well. So much for that. Let the good times roll." As the bandits rush forward, he mutters, "Gods protect us from outlaws and fools." as a shield briefly glimmers into existence about him. He then swings his crossbow over a shoulder and draw a morningstar, the red light shifting to the new weapon.

"Let's just hope they ain't asking for favors too."

"Hey, take it easy Tulsino! Keep going through them like that, and I'll be outta work!" Glancing at the bandit charging at Brennyn, he grins and calls out, "Take it easier mate, or you'll be dead before you're forty!" The bandit staggers slightly, his grip on his weapon going slack. Jeremiah then flips another bolt into his crossbow and fires at another nearby bandit. "Unrepentant banditry is a key cause of an untimely death. Four out of five lawmen agree."

Spell cast was Litany of Sloth, DC 15 will. Failure causes fatigue and inability to make attacks of opportunity for one round.

Jeremiah whips the end of his armored jacket up, hoping to weather the worst of the storm of arrows. When the rattle of projectiles starts to dim, he rises back up from beneath his coat, crossbow at the ready.

"Oye! Didn't you lads ever hear about quality against quantity?" He sights the nearest bandit and his crossbow begins to glow a with a rich red hue. "No? Let us demonstrate then!"

Hadn't thought about the monk levels, at it wouldn't be too awful a dip, considering my stats, but alignment says no, unfortunately. I think I'll take a look at the unarmed and cad fighter archetypes though. Improved trip and dirty trick, other such sundries.

Sudden realization upon looking at my character on herolab: One of my traits is not only Abadar dependant, but quite opposite to what a worshiper or Cayden Caliean would hold to (Lover of Law? Nonsense!) At a glance, there appears to be a Cayden trait that roughly equals it mechanically, should I swap up?

Still trying to figure Jeremiah's voice now; I'd previously placed him as a more lawful version of Zaeed Massani. Maybe I should dig up some Cowboy Beebop and give him a touch of Spike Spiegal.

"That there would be Brennyn. I believe her partner is Vanaria? Dinner was trail rations and a fair amount of it was splattered across people's faces." Jermmiah idly twists a crossbow bolt between his fingers while talking, occasionally using it as a pointer. "So, once we've got this Kressle taken care of, we going to continue south or cut back and clear out the route we've traveled?"

"I'm sorry mate, just finally got a story to beat the time with that halfling pyromaniac!" Jeremiah leans against the nearest surface and bites back a smile as the two clerics snipe back and forth. "Ah, the joys of civilization; the freedom to loathe each other without the loss of vitals." he muses, before walking over to to Brennyn and and nudging him slightly. "Let it go, friend. The Wander's own are always going to walk a different path than ours, same as most. Our jobs just to keep the road clear for 'em as we can."

Toritaka's sudden appearance seems to catch him off-guard, and he smiles faintly at his words. "Wish that type were more than the exception to the rule lad. Coulda' gone back to book-keeping. Cleaner line o' work."

*Rereads bandit posts* Ah yes, they did say that, didn't they. Good times!
I can agree that we need to get exploration done, I'd just push for exploration in the direction of the camp to begin with.

As far as the bandit discussion goes, Jeremiah would mark is as the first priority to have the camp we've been told of cleared out, and done as soon as possible. That's largely based on not liking the idea of leaving such a large force out and ready to push north; while using the walls of Oleg's might be strategically viable, he'd rather face the bandits on their terms than risk civilians. With the arrival of the Restov reinforcments, it's even more important that we push ahead soon; depending on how far the trip back would be, there is still potentially a window for surprise. It's not likely a scout's been sent out after a day; it's not like they're taking the freeway to get up here, and could be expected to be slowed down with ill-gotten gains.

"As far as being 'in charge', that title would go largely to the Swordlords. They're the ones who have sponsored this little venture, and are largely the ones we'd answer to if there were any issues. But outside of the charge to explore, survey the area and clear out any bandit groups while we're at it, we've got a fair bit of autonomy as far as how that is accomplished. Frankly, I doubt they'd care much as to how we get things done, so long as we don't look to be actively stepping on anyone's toes. Namely theirs."

Jeremiah scowls slightly as the interrogation continues. 'Wonder how many died while they stood by and waited for their cut. How often did they offer pity to those they stole from?' With a sigh, he slings his crossbow back over his shoulder and idles away. "Make sure they stay on the level." he calls out to Cato and Thaleles before he heads off to find Oleg.

"Looks like the group consensus is to keep the survivors for intel. I'd like to send word to the Church up in Restov, try to get you some trustworthy support in here. How often do you have a tradesman or message-carrier come through here?" Glancing back at where the bandits were being untied for supper, he adds, "Sorry to add these kind of complications for you. I'm fine with you just telling us when we level up; it does keep things simpler on our end. I'm currently trying to figure out an effective way to keep track of the map on our end. I've got a list of the hexes broken down in spoilers on my profile for the moment, and it should work well enough in the beginning, but once we start getting further east and west it could get hairy.

Jeremiah walks up behind Tulsino, idly fiddling with the workings of his crossbow. "Seems the way I remember it, we've got the options of blade and rope when dealin' with bandits. Sounds like rope is more appealing to the like of you. Slower, too, from what I hear." He pauses slightly, before glancing over to the front of the fort. "Oleg mentioned something 'bout a deterrent, didn't he? I'm sure he's not likely to be against sparing us some of the latter option."

Looking over to Thaleles, he shrugs. "No reason to bother asking where they came from. Eleven men on horseback? They'll leave a trail you can follow blind. Cut any of this lot loose, and they'll just be catching a bolt from someone later down the road for more of the same crimes. Only question is how many other Olegs and Svetlanas they leave behind them, and likely not as kindly as the current ones have been treated."

His eyes grow cold as he turns back to the bandits. "So, really, this all ends the same way, irregardless of how helpful you make yourselves. But if you are, between me and Tulsino, I imagine we can make your judgement quick. Or you can keep up the unrepentant act, and we make it less effort on us. Rope around your neck, toss you over the wall and let your weight kill you. Also give you more to be discussed when the Lady puts her eyes on you. But maybe you can lessen that stain you've put on yourself, just a bit. Your choice."

Jeremiah shakes his head as the bandits begin their disorganized retreat. 'All the same, these lot. Bold in numbers against the helpless and unprepared, but show even a hint of actual reprisal for their actions, and they go fleeing into the wilds.' Leading a bandit and taking his shot, he idly wonders just what their plan was for getting past the gate; perhaps they hadn't even registered it's closing in the wake of the ambush.

I agree with the time limit before a delay is considered; an alternative might be to have an aid another action me taken on the lowest attack roll that round or something. A preferred action, posted in our profile would potentially be the best, but could also put a lot more work on Tobaris' shoulders.

As far as the initiative method, I'm admittedly ambivalent, but that is largely due to how absurd inquisitor initiatives can get. When modifiers can hit 10+ with fairly little effort, it's not really a concern when I roll a four. But for someone who's likely to stay at single digits for the majority of the game, getting a chance at a higher roll can be pretty useful. All in all, I think we would benefit more as a party from rolling individually, but if the group init makes for easier book keeping on your end, I'm all for it.
