See the great thing about being a paladin is i have the HP to burn and the saves to eat traps for breakfast.

Heh.
Jen winces on seeing the creature and slides out of the way so others can examine the pit if they desire. " I do hope that the escaped mongrelman went a different way. That is not a fate I would wish on anyone." The warrior then looking over at the rope ladder listening down the hole

Sounds right to me. Don't suppose that table has little carved figures and sheafs of paper with strange symbols on them?

Jen eyes the room warily for the warrior who had ran this way glancing between the rope ladder and door.
" Unless any of you disagree I am going to attempt to open the door next. I lack the skills to open a locked door silently so if any of you possess such skills they would be good to reveal now."

If none reveal such a skill.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Jen scrutinized the door before giving it a hopeful wiggle to check if it was locked.

I'm going to hedge my bets and guess the door is locked. If so, unless something prevents it assume Jen does repeated STR checks until the door gives in.
STR: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Jen presses forward into the new room.

I actually enjoy having PC personalities clash in a setting like PbP. It makes for more interesting story if not everyone gets along and is much easeir to pull off without slowing the table down in this setting. So don't apologize it makes the game more interesting.

That is some good news Corerue.

Jen catches the lizards deadweight to prevent any further damage from its jaws before putting the beast on the ground. The woman inspecting the damage dealt to her with a frown as she releases another burst of healing magic to knit some of the damage.
LOH: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Don't suppose there is anything of obvious value in the kitchen? Not that Jen would be interested in taking it most likely but these things are good to know."

" Well looking in here this appears to be a kitchen of some kind. Perhaps specifically for curing meats? Regardless I am going to try one of the other doors unless we wish to brave the noxious cloud." Jen informs as she glances in the direction the fleeing mongrelman had taken.
" That way I think."

Unless we want to try the smoke Jen will be heading in the direction of the door in H4, the top left corner.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen's disapproval is obvious on her face as Lasciel complete her act, the paladin having obviously not expected it. "I.. I guess that will work." the woman says with some small twinge of regret.
It was just an animal but still. I guess i'll have to be more careful what I ask.
With that done Jen sets about freeing herself again.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen gingerly experiments with the solidly attached lizard to see how best to remove the beast without losing more of her skin. Completing this act one handed is difficult to say the least
" Would one of you give me a hand with this?"

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Anyone else feel like punching the lizard as it does its best to eat Jen? I somehow get the feeling that my attack roll isn't going to cut it what with the penalty for being grappled and attacking from a grapple equaling each other out.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

behold the lizard with jaw pressure enough to cause nuclear fission. I'm assuming that was a mistake and Jen hasn't instantly exploded.

Jen rears back with a choked cry of pain before attempting in to punch the lizard in the face.

Jaeger, you want to smack this lizard?
He doesn't seem friendly and your wife is in snacking range.

I am amused by this attempt at animal friendship.

Worst case we beat it unconscious and make friends with it later.

As Jen needed to 5ft step back to attack with her glaive I believe so. Though both you and Jaeger may end up both needing the same spot to attack from.

I'm still amused by the mental image of a lizard the size of a large dog leaping out of a barrel of smoked fish and trying to eat Jen.

Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Jen was most certainly not expecting a lizard to come leaping out of a room filled with smoked meat.
Very much to the lizards fortune.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

So I take no one has objections to the closest door then?

As no one had an opinion to Jen's suggestions. Cuz stagnation is bad, M'kay?

Jen shrugs and tries the middle of the three doors she had seen.
Perhaps this path will let us get around the fog."

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

So are we going for the guarded well or one of the three other doors?

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen frowns and nods " Well there goes that idea. A shame your magic is unable to levitate a rock or something else hefty we could anchor rope to. Then we'd have something that could defend us from attacks from above and something to hang onto were they to sever the rope. though I imagine there are a dozen reasons that wouldn't work, i'll be the first to admit the mechanics of magic are hazy at best for me."

Amusingly that magic item has a CL of 19 and is capable of levitating an object/person weighing 1900 pounds or less. The spell doesn't directly address creatures hanging onto a levitating one but I assume the spell would still be viable until you hit that weight cap.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Taking a full defensive would give you an additional +4AC.

I'd been considering how hard it would be to just grab one or two from the bottom of the hole with an improvised lasso but it seemed too complex to work in actuality.
However with the levitation effect you could hover up and drag them by the ankles into the shaft, drop them into their own fog and split the battle so not just one person has to take the entirety of them.

crunch wise if my guess is right and this actually is a stinking cloud we just have to wait a little bit for it to dissipate. Stinking cloud is 1 round/CL.
Jen doesn't have the knowledge arcana check or spellcraft check to get a positive ID on that though.

As to being a bleeding heart, well I imagine Jen will make the right choice when it will be needed. Doubtless Jen will have plenty of cultist and demon blood on her hands by the end of this all.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

hey it isn't like Jen would have seen that door before now anyway so you had no reason to state its presence. I've got no concerns so far. Also I really dislike stinking cloud.

Jen frowns as she looks into the fog " Even with you providing a distraction all they would need to do is sever the rope to cut you off from the rest of us. Do you still have more magic like you used to stun the deathguard warriors earlier? Were we to begin climbing they'd likely all be looking down for a target. That is if we avoid the fogs sickening effects. I doubt anyone will be in the right condition to do much if you can't shrug it off. Does anyone know if it is magic? It might help to know how long the effect might last if so?"
Color spray, I vaguely recall you using it in the fight with the deathguards. It would be really amusing if they were all looking over the hole and just tumbled right in after getting blasted.
" With the number of barriers in the way it might be best to try another path, much as it is obvious of this being a direct route to a place they do not want us to enter." The half orc suggests as she glances to the doors not blocked by the fog.

Huh.. would the fog could Lasciel generates push the stinking cloud away from the column? as a player I am amused by the direct approach and fully endorse giving it a shot but there does seem to be a good number of barriers we are going to need to overcome for that to work. Sounds like more fun to punch through that way though.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

For shadowdancer, the real issue is the feats required to access the class, feats being one of the few things you don't get more of as a Gestalt* unless you've built with it in mind those requirements are going to hurt. The biggest draw the prestige class hass in my opinion.
That being said the dancers shadow companion is a brutal pet to have.
STR damage touch attacks add up quickly and the advantages of an incorporeal scout are significant.

*aside from class/race based bonus feats

Primalist bloodrager would be able to trade in one of the powers of your bloodline for two barbarian rage powers.
Which would then let you blood rage while you bloodrage
Hrmm... strange that they didn't write an exclusion for bloodragers on that somewhere.
Would mean you could get the bloodrage of your choice and then add flavoring of another lineage through the rage powers.
The 3rd party shadow bloodline looks pretty cool.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen considers the hold before shrugging Even if I were to go up there it would be a lopsided fight, were they to see they were losing they could just cut the rope I was using. A shame I don't have powers of flight or levitation.
The warrior makes a loop of the room seeking any other exits to the room before returning to the group.

I'm assuming the white marker on the right side of the north room is a door. Presumably Jen is at the north wall of that room and looking at that dip with white marks which I presume to be your rope with bad guys at the top.

Assuming thats all right-ish.

Jen returns to the group and waves away some of the clinging smoke before speaking. " There is a rope leading to an upper level guarded by at least four warriors. Trying to fight that many dangling from a rope is going to be next to impossible at best. I have no means of levitation or flight so our best options would likely be trying one of the other paths. There also looks to be another door through the fog if you all feel able to hold your breath." the green one informs as she gestures to the two doorways in the room and then to the fog.
" I'd say the door past the fog would likely lead somewhere as that is where the demon worshipers came from."

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Shrug. Once more into the breach?

Jen prods the ceiling with her glaive to determine the dimensions of the entrace to the area above, waving a hand to see if she couldn't determine if the hole with a rope was where the smoke was originating from.
The warrior listened closely to see if she couldn't hear more foes approaching under cover of the smoke as well.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen nods to Lasciel and after wiping her bloodied hands on her pants grabs her glaive as Jaeger drags the cleric away from the fog. The half-orc giving the man a pleased quirk of her lip as she walked.
" You are correct, this is my fault. I shall see if I cannot blunt their teeth. Keep an eye on the other two doors I would not be surprised if other warriors arrived from such paths." Sucking in a breath the woman moves quickly as she can through the fog walking in the direction the retreating mongrelfolk had ran.
Fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

My bet is on a wizard with stinking cloud. Don't suppose there is anything near us that we could use to blow it away? An improvised fan out of some big flat object perhaps.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

So we've got 3 rooms to potentially explore from here.
The door to the north that leads to H10, where the clerics came from.
the door to the east that leads to H4, where the mongrelman that was feared ran and a third door that nothing has come out of yet.

Any thoughts on the order? I'd kind of like to open the unopened door just to see more of the shape of this place.
Following the path the clerics took to get here will likely get us to the more important bits sooner though.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen seems to hold back words as Lasciel walks away but she returns to her task Much as I wish my world could be so black and white I will not dishonor my oaths by breaking them over such as these.

Jen gives Ethyra a small smile as she helps the half orc and nods. " Duty shared is duty halved. I don't ask you to understand my reasons but thank you for helping me regardless."

Assuming Ethyra pitches in then unless any of the bleeding mongrel folk were close to death at the start of the battle they will all be stabilized quickly. Ethyra doesn't need to make any checks like I would.

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

I vaugely recall Ethyra having picked the trait that lets her stabilize people as a standard action without any rolls. I don't much enjoy slowing down the party but Jen's paladin vows are kinda forcing me to push this particular issue. Pallys of Sheylen are all about the mercy and forgiveness. She will abandon this to defend allies if we enter combat again.
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Jen continues in her efforts to staunch the warriors wound looking up at Jaeger for a moment " Blood for blood, eye for an eye. I don't doubt you know how that adage goes."
The half orc again sighing as her attempts to staunch the wound fails. Jen laying a hand on the warriors chest and channeling power.
LOH: 1d6 ⇒ 1
As healing magic stabilizes Jen will move onto one of the other bleeding mongrelfolk.
" I am not asking you to feel the way I do about those that we battle. Just understand that I can't in good conscience leave these people to bleed. If you wish to continue without me I'll catch up once I'm finished here."

Massed heal checks to speed this along.:

Jen looks up from her work and gives Lasciel a brittle, sad expression. " Lady Lasciel, between the Deathguard nearly tearing themselves apart and their captain being the puppet of some demon? What makes you believe they are not misled? We don't know their reasons and have no way of communicating. Leaving them to bleed to death with doubt about their reasons is not something i'm willing to be party to." The woman replies as she sighs at the useless mess her impromtu attempt at first aid was becoming.
" Fixing someone is so much harder than hurting them after all."

Female Half-Orc Sacred servant/OoV paladin 3 HP39/39 AC15/12/13 CMD:20 CMB+8 Init:+2 Perception:+4, Fort:+11 Ref+12Will+10 Smite:1/1 LOH2/5:1d6+2

Jen mutters something dark at the unconscious cleric before leaning her glaive upagainst a nearby wall and immediately setting to work on the nearest unconscious and bleeding mongrel folk.
" As I am unable to speak with them so I can't be sure but with the way the last battle we had went I am willing to believe that these warrior were mislead by those vipers. It seems to be a theme for them of making forces that could have very well been allies fight each other. Misleading and manipluating to leave even greater harms in the ones who had to do the killing than in even the ones who were killed." The half orc removing some layers of cloth and ripping a bandage out of a shirt sleeve
heal check(stabilize DC15): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Welp, this isn't going to go well.
It seems rather obvious that the holy warrior was far out of her depth on how to treat injuries as severe as the ones that had been inflicted on those mongrelfolk still alive.

I'd imagine most everyone deep into this hobby has some sort of gaming 'wild west' stories to tell.
Several of my early groups were like the one your describe, so I totally get the vibe on that one.

As to succubi I actually just recently encountered one, there is a rather amusing encounter in ROTRL involving them. Suffice to say my GM was not excited when I informed him my bard was burning a scroll of lesser wish in order to give into that fever dream of lust and survive.

I feel you on the windows thing, my signals rather spastic at night and I can never trust my windows to actually load unless I'm staring at them.

The underdark is never boring though.
The last time I got into the underdark we rolled a purple worm random encounter first thing.
Kill it, turn it into a bus with animate dead, bypass 90% of the things that the GM intended for us to encounter.
Our GM was rather chagrined at this turn of events.
On the plus side we don't encounter purple worms anymore.

You'll need to move the cleric to a different spot if you want to CDG with the glaive. you can't hit adjacent creatures with a reach weapon. The image you provided does show she has a dagger on her belt though.

"Mercy is the gift of the strong, have you never heard that adage? Instead of trusting your ally would not break under our 'weakness' you killed her. Perhaps because you feel in the same position you might break yourself? I pity you for your ignorance on how a demon lord rewards failure. I'd not worry if my words are straining your mind though, your body will soon match."
the cold eyed paladin responds, as she twirls her weapon while advancing. Lips curled into a grimace of disgust.

More so for Jen once she learns undercommon and can "Love and peace" people to blessed unconsciousness.

Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Jen was still looking at the recently downed mongrelfolk when the women entered and made their command. The mental command finding no purchase as Jen's face twists into rage while she turns to face the pair. The haft of her glaive groaning as her knuckles went white.
"You." the paladin spat, as though it were the vilest curse she knew. Teeth bared as animal wrath surged. eyes locked on the symbol of their god.
Fire. Death. The horned sigil on weapons and lips as life drained. rage
Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Then, like a candle in the breeze the surging wrath evaporated. Replaced by a calm expression and a sigh"No. That won't bring them back." The half orc mutters as her hands relax their grasp.
"Much as it would feel good to rip your arms out of their sockets and choke you to death on your own bloodsoaked hands" The paladin threatens quietly as she stares the pair of warriors down. Striding forward to the pair as she spoke.
"You are not worth that to me. So I am going to tell you now that if you throw down your weapons I will advocate mercy when you are judged. It is your folly if you mistake this offer for weakness though." The womans glaive whistling through the air as she reached the extent of her weapons reach. I'll hit Left cleric as well.

Mah, sucks when that happens.

and thank you for the update on the mission. Escape to the surface seems like a worthy goal.
Jen can't enact vengeance on her traitorous sisters otherwise.

The urban bloodragers adopted magic ability can grant you extra spells from the bard or magus list. As it is thematic to the character perhaps Corerue would be willing to let you select Detect Demons as your first option from that ability?

A second option would be to have an item that generates detect demons.

That works. It should be mentioned that unless I'm fighting monsters where it obviously won't work that Jen will be using non-lethal damage. Which I'm fine with being flavored as flesh wounds, just stuff that won't kill them without additional help.
As to undercommon, much as it would be quite useful for Jen to know it even though we leveled I can't see Jen picking up a language within an hour of showing up. Mechanically I could do it but it hurts my little gamer soul when I do that. It will be something I contemplate in the future though.
Additionally It is only with the crit that I realize Jen's AC on the tag-bar is still off. Whoops. That crit is going to land. though it doesn't look like any of the other attacks you made at me fall into that category.

LOH: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 Jen grunts in pain giving the spears owner a glare of annoyance as she she wheels and moves to aid lasciel whos position was at least partly the paladins fault. Her strides not even slowing as the damage the recently thrown javelin had inflicted healed, the weapon clattering to the ground as fresh flesh pushed it away from the paladins body.
I'll deal with where that came from in a minute. Other events call my attention.
Glaive: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 2 = 221d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Moving to flank with Lasciel on the mongrel man to the 'south' of her. I'm assuming up is north on your map. The other one doesn't give me enough space to attack with a glaive and flank.

Jen seems concerned for a moment and then obviously impressed as Jaeger makes the packed battlefield look like some manner of waltz.
"Well, that also works." The half orc states blankly Had that been me there woul have been quite a few more blades of my foes involved. A good skill to have.

Note to self, get better armor 15AC is pitiful.

Jen gives a faint rasp of pain as she looked into the general melee and saw the archer in the back ranks I will need to do something about that one soon With a savage wrench the green skinned warrior pushed the arrow the scant remaining distance out of her shoulder. Significant portions of the damage the arrow had wrought healing in front of everyones eyes, though the bloodstains remained.
Lay on hands.: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The half orc scanned the room before propping her glaive against the near wall and in a flash her spike studded morningstar was in its place ready to do violence. I'm going to need to clear a path first though. The woman grimacing as she swung with both hands.
Whack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 281d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Confirm??: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 171d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
With a mighty thump Jen' drove her mace into the nearest warrior.
"I'm not inclinde to let that one in the back idly shoot me. I'm going to try and clear a path, help me if you can."
The warriors directly to the left of each of you. I'm cool with Jen eating one AOO but I'd prefer not to get hit twice before I even get a chance to hit back.

Right I vaguely recall the group getting given a general mission relatng to that before getting drawn into the trap of Tawn'garth/Shadow demon.
Jen'Dalash teleported into the middle of that mess so her confusion relating to the quest we have is mostly in character.

I know we got given a request to deal with stragglers but I guess I missed the part where we were asked to clear the fort. Are the Deathguard not mustering to head back to Neathholm and deal with whatever demon force has besieged the place while the defenders are away?

Sorry thought we were waiting on something. Actions now.

Jen sighs as she looks at the mongrelmen ahead and to the battle about to start. " We came to rescue the deathguard warriors behind us didn't we? If we push the barricade up into the door we can block these ones in here. Then we can leave with what we came for. Killing these mongrelmen won't bring any of the deathguard already slain back".

I really don't recall the reason we were here outside from rescuing the deathguards we found them about to get dragged in here. two of them fled, we found those two. Are there supposed to be more? If there are no more to find Jen would like to jam the door so we can leave.

If I missed something and we have a decent reason to beat the crap out of these guys.
Jen nods and steps through the doorway into the room itself, glaive in one hand and chakram in the opposite. The woman hurling her circular blade and readying her polearm with a flourish.
Chakram: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 221d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Throw chakram, place hand back on glaive. Make an Aoo if they move in to attack. perferably the same one she just hit with the Chakram.
Aoo: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 201d10 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Pretty cool, certainly something to aspire to at least.

Looks like Julians AC is actually 21. So that first strike looks to miss barring circumstance

Jen gasps at seeing he ally wounded and bears down on the warrior who did it. Another chakram appearing in the womans hand like magic as she hurls it at her target.

Throw: 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 4 = 181d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
max damage. and the same hit mod as last. Very nice.

The sharpened circle whistles dangerously as it follows the same arc as he first shot near perfectly .

Did we ever establish if the deathguards we found here were dead or unconscious? We did come here for them so if they were alive Jen would have been in the process of fixing them up best she could.

" Yes it seems you are correct. Let us end this quickly then."
Jen frowns at the warrior rushing to fight them, feeling a tug on her heart as she hurls her chakram.
They are fighting to defend their home after all.
throw-nonlethal: 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 4 = 181d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Penalty for cover added as I assume the door is of normal dimensions. Either the door or Julian is likely to get in the way.
