Similarly, Janeesa's bum was starting to feel like she'd been sitting on it for the length of a cross-country train trip, rather than just a few seconds. What an odd set of physics this cavern has.

Hearkening back to her conversation with Aterro, Janeesa will hold her action until later in the round, allowing those more powerful in combat to deal with the threats while she prepares to heal as needed. There is little she can do to stop Weasel and friends from escaping at this range.

Janeesa, satisfied that she'll have ample strength in numbers, brings up the rear in her (comfortable) support role. She truly valued freeing slaves, but sacrificing her life to die needlessly and without friends was not high on her list. Her morningstar was ready to do what she might.

If you click my character link the text has my used spells crossed out; I can Spontaneously cast any Cure spell, so essentially any spells I have left COULD be converted to heal in a pinch. Currently I have two more 3rd, three 2nd, and one 1st. One of my 2nd is Lesser Restoration. I also have 2 Channels left. And of course I'm sitting on two CLW wands.

On her action, assuming minions are still up, charge with Morningstar. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
As soon as all combatants are dealt with (ie when combat is over) I'll gather everyone and throw a couple Channels to get us back up to spec.

Janeesa's AC is 18; if that 17 is the total of his bonuses, or it's a touch attack, that's a miss. Additionally, forgot to add Divine Favor to my hit and damage above; hit should be 25, damage should be 8.

Janeesa tries to move to a position where she can catch Grinceroy, Morvius and Attero all with Channel. If she gets Callinda as well, all the better. She excludes the boss, overseer, and any goons from healing. I know it's a little overkill at this point, but Grince is hurting and it's my only ranged heal. Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6) = 13

I had closed to within 20' of Boss/Overseer before they turned on Grince and Attero, so even with their moves, I'm thinking I should be able to reach (selective) channel range of Attero and Grince in one move action. If not, I'd probably charge with the morningstar instead.

With melee combat now imminent, Janeesa has to fight the urge to charge the overseer, so strong is the hate she feels welling up inside her. She realizes, though, that this would complicate the archers' efforts for one final volley, so she simply moves a single move closer the Overseer and readies her morningstar.

DM_DM wrote: I believe Total Defense is a standard action. It is, I was just pondering if there would be any use to it at all in a surprise round. If you're taking any action in the surprise round, your opponents must be surprised. So taking total defense as a Standard Action in the surprise round was kind of a stupid choice, since the surprised opponents can't attack me. That said, I missed the fact we were in a surprise round when I used that action the first time. I posted that before you declared round 1, and then other people were taking a second set of actions, so if people are getting a set of actions before round 1, there was a surprise round, and I basically wasted it.

If my Total Defense happened prior to Round One (can you even Total Defense in a surprise round? Is there a reason to?)... Janeesa's Round 1 Action: step out of cloud of bats in a different direction than Morvius did, to a distance of 30', then do Total Defense again, the idea being to make them move toward just one of us, or somewhere else. If this exposes me to more weapon fire, so be it; at least the AC boost will do something for me.

Morvius Zaan wrote: Think the d4 was a random die roll, not damage - the swarm hasn't attacked yet. Thanks. In that case, since I took Total Defense as my standard action, can I use a move to get out of the bat's radius, or am I stuck there until next round? An AC bonus will do jack against a swarm.
