The adventure, and possible following campaign, is going to focus around battling a cult worshipping/revering/brainwashed by a Kraken whom in the initial adventure are picking off struggling villagers to enslave for said Kraken. The villagers are getting picked off as they venture into the wilds for food and such as they've not been able to to take boats out for fish or trade for months because of vicious storms caused by Kraken's far in the ocean engaging in their "hateful compulsion" (they're making babies) and for a spooky omen the bay will be black with Kraken blood in the adventure and nobody is going to know what's happening. The adventurers will initially simply be tasked with protecting and aiding the villagers in their foraging/hunting etc because of the amount that have not been returning.
I hope that's enough detail to give folks an idea of what I'll be doing. I'm just not familiar enough with Golarion to know a good choice for this. Ideally I'd want it to be more of a village than a city.
Ok the only stipulation I have for this character is that he has to be a pure swashbuckler. Absolutely no multi classing. The character will be tenth level with 750,000 gold to spend. I need advice on everything, race, traits, feats, and gear. The only thing I know about my opponent is that he is centered around the aldori sword lord PrC, and is pure martial. Also all advice must be PFS legal.
My character has 18 DEX and 14 STR. Given that, I'm struggling to decide whether dex to attack and damage with a scimitar, or simply using an elven curve blade for the boost to power attack and 1.5 Str (which would only be one less than dex to damage) would be more efficient. I'm leaning towards the elven curve blade but it is one more feat I'd have to spend on melee and not archery which seems slightly more demanding. I'm aiming to go straight slayer if I can, may dip fighter if I'm in dire need of feats, if that would be in any way relevant to the question.
EDIT: Race is half elf btw, I know I can take a racial for proficiency with the elven curve blade which is tempting, however I was really digging dual minded for the help with will saves since they are my only weak save and I only managed a plus 1 in Wis. Opinions on this would be welcome as well.
Just curious if maybe I'm missing something here.
Before any of this gets started I would like to clarify that the Brawler's option for SA, snakebite striker, has a very weak progression as it should. I am also aware that flurry of blows and sneak attack is a really powerful sounding idea. The brawler's Brawler's flurry class skill would provide extra attacks and it can get SA, but it is off set by the very slow progression of the class' SA and that fighting with your fists kinda sucks. I don't think a monk archetype with SA would be game breaking at all and may provide the class with a helpful, if a little situational boon. I'm sure someone has wanted to make some form of martial artist assassin, I think it would be a nice option for the class that would at the very least help fulfill certain character concepts. Any thoughts?
One of my favorite classes from 3.5, the warlock, was remade for pathfinder in a 3rd party product, since it will never be pfs legal I was wondering if there was any chance they would come out with their own version of it, or if they have done something similar to this in the past.
So I was asking for advice on a character concept and have now been convinced to make radical changes to it, now the topic doesn't fit what I need help doing and wanted to basically start a new thread with different details. In an effort to not clog up the board I wanted to remove the first topic if that is possible.
Basically a dueling sword allows you to use dex to attack with the appropriate proficiency, it is also a one handed slashing weapon, thus falling under the purview of slashing grace. The dex to damage from slashing grace does not say it is reliant on you benefitting from the whole treat it as a one handed piercing weapon. So is it safe to say that this would allow me to have dex to attack and damage without being a swashbuckler or even having a dip in it?

Ok, so I've been wanting to make a Ninja like this for a long time. While I will obviously be capable of stealth and such I didn't want it to be my main focus for a number of reasons. The main two are that PFS play rarely gives good opportunities for stealth to be rewarded, either because the scenario doesn't have a lot of opportunities or because no one I play with is ever a stealth character by any means so no one can join in on my exploits. I also have conceptual ideas as to why I want to do this. As opposed to the super stealth assassin concept of ninjas I was hoping to make my ninja be a mix of Joe Mushashi (Shinobi series mainly looking at Shinobi 3), Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden) and while it is a subpar anime Naruto. The first two ninjas are powerful combatants who have a small amount of magic at their disposal and at least in the games I've played were not all that stealthy. The main thing I'm wanting to pull from Naruto other than combat prowess is the Ki element of these ninjas and the use of scrolls to perform certain powerful magics.
Plz make all suggestions PFS legal.
That said my goals for this character are:
-Effective melee combatant
-large focus on ki pool and ki abilities
-able to easily use Scrolls, I know they are harder to use than wands but using scrolls allows me to choose what spells I want to bring to a scenario as opposed to having a few wands that are expensive and thus having a more limited selection. I will have wands of spells I will use routinely such as dark vision as I don't like any of the races with dark vision for this concept.
- other than scrolls have as many useful "magical" options as possible
-Achieve all this without Multiclassing
I'm pretty clueless on what traits to take, feat and trick suggestions as well as suggestions for spells and scrolls would be most helpful. I like the idea of the major magic trick and was thinking shocking grasp would be nice, but I don't know what catnip would be useful for minor magic or if that is just gonna be a waste. If there are any ways to get more uses of these spell like abilities that would be awesome!
Thx in advance
Honestly I doubt this works but it's a thought I suppose.
Like two handing a one handed weapon and kicking sounds the most mechanically possible as I am still using a one handed weapon and the kicks would be the light weapon.

So the pitch for the character came from the concept of Voidkin in the Kitsune Compendium. Basically they expanded on the text in I believe the advanced race guide that was talking about what color their fur could be, saying that white kitsune were possible and they often became oracles. Well their were what were called Voidkin Kitsune who were born with oddly colored fur, white fur showed a blessing or divine favor or something, and shadowy gray or black which showed a sort of spiritual uncleanliness in their blood. Well this fella (no name yet) has grey fur and was marked by his society as spiritually unclean. He was treated in a similar fashion as to what someone of low rank in a caste system was. Now he has set out to cleanse himself of this taint through Irori's teachings of how to attain enlightenment.
PLz make all suggestions PFS legal plz.
First off Iroran paladins can ad their Cha up to their level to armor class so I was thinking of having crazy dex and good cha to make the most of this. I might have to do this as I would only be able to use light armor.
First feat would go to weapon finesse.
When I get my holy bond ability it applies to my fists so there is no real way of getting around the need to be effective with them. I was thinking of either TWF or maybe agile maneuvers and making use of one or more combat maneuver. I've never used any combat maneuvers so I don't know which would be the most useful. Also some thoughts maybe on a style path? I'm very limited on feats here so I need some bang for my buck.
Even if I do have crazy dex and weapon finesse and two light weapons, how accurate would I be?
I was thinking of trying one of two things that would use twf and average BAB.
1st: insert stereotypical TWF ninja here. Ninjas are sweet, nuff said.
2nd: Master of many styles monk who uses his first perquisites free style feat to get jabbing style and TWF with his fists. I've wanted to find a way to make a sort of untouchable high dex high wis monk a viable option for a long time and think I may have found a decent avenue for doing this here.
Only thing I'm feeling is questionable is, how accurate would either of these be? If accuracy is going to be an issue are there any low feat cost ways of fixing this as they will be rather feat starved I think.
I've looked at a few Ninja guides and some are suggesting an archetype. Is this possible to do? If it is mechanically possible is it PFS legal?
So I was kind of digging the idea of an Inquisitor but couldn't really find a deity that matched the alignment I was aiming for (neutral good), gave access to inquisitions/domains that provided fun benefits and stood for something I could have fun really standing for. Now I have heard somewhere that Divine classes can instead of a deity have some sort of ideal they champion instead. Is there a list of acceptable ideas or can I just come up with one? How does this affect my domain/Inquisition choices? Do I lose the weapon proficiency of my deity class ability since I don't have one?
ALSO if not having a deity with a divine class is not PFS legal plz let me know. K THX
So far I'm thinking that replacing this with studied target that I can use all I want seems to be a better option as I also get a small amount of sneak attack and a slayer talent at 8th level. This is a PFS character so I'm not looking at the stuff after 12.
Or I could get a swank animal companion who shares my teamwork feats instead of judgement which also sounds cool.
Am I being shortsighted with these two options?
How often do you receive boons? More specifically racial boons. I'm pretty up to snuff on the mechanics and such of the game and am thinking of doing a small amount of GMing in order to get some racial boons to play with. The only thing that worries me is that I'm not real familiar with lore and have never ran any sort of Dungeons and Dragons game before, nor am I necessarily enthused by the idea, kind of indifferent. I mean who knows I may find that I really enjoy it and I'd certainly do my best to make it enjoyable for the players but I'd rather be a player. Is dabbling in GMing worth getting into just for the boons? (Ever since the banning of Tieflings I'm struggling to find races I like that have dark vision, plus I'm a big fan of the quirkier fantasy races)
I would like to enhance my race's vision to Darkvision and get claws. Does this work?

While this is not a problem with pfs it is an issue that has always bothered me and it finally came up on the first stealth character I've played in ages. I am sneaky, sneaky people should excel in the dark, well it is to dark for me to see. :/ Other than being a race that has dark vision what are some early fixes this outside of giving myself away with a light source? (Fun fact this adventure the light didn't even permeate out more than five feat from each of us through the entire dungeon so this was an exceptional pain)
Next, to my experience no one will even indulge me to let me set up an ambush. That said there is virtually no openings to be stealthy that or my party ruins them so fast I can't even see them.
Lastly, my party will never let me scout ahead even in the smallest degree. This is when I assume I could coordinate most of my ambushes as this prevents my party from just stomping up. They all just start screaming MEAUAURGH DON'T SPLIT THE PARTY!!! Also I understand that yes splitting the party is bad, but I don't think like a 40ft gap is technically splitting the party since you are like right behind me. Plus I'm SNEAKING the whole point is to not be seen.
How can I address this. Even this character, on this run (slayer), and after he has been redone as he is still lvl 1 (probably a Sactified slayer), Neither are even full on stealth classes in fact calling the Santified Slayer even a slightly stealth based class is pushing it. If I am pure stealth all I am ever permitted to do is just be a really lousy back up fighter. I want to pull off swank as heck ambushes but my party without a doubt throws a hissy fit. Any ideas?
First off the alignment I am aiming for is neutral good, and would like to make use of either the travel or the trade domain. I'm not sure what Deities have this domain other than Apsu and the drunk god. I'm hoping to just sort of revel in seeing new places and doing what I can to make seeing the world easier for people, whether that be incapacitating highwaymen or helping the Pathfinders learn more about the world. I'd like to be decent at my spell casting and need help figuring out how to make up for the str minus and be a decent melee combatant, I mean I know I'm a decent buffer and studied target helps but I'm worried that won't be enough.
ANY ideas you have that you think would be smart changes to this I definitely want to hear them as well asides to make this idea work. PLZ N THX
Seriously, all the core races have so many alternate traits and racial feats and crap!! I mean come on, it's bad enough that we have to buy the books to use anything from them but then a good chunk of it is illegal anyway! If I can't pick the majority of the races at least give the few that you are gonna let me pick some tlc. Shoot if your to lazy I know some third party publisher expanded on the Kitsune just allow some stuff like that to give them some options. PLZ the core races being master races here is getting lame for me. I like being the weird stuff and I want the weird races to have that much stuff or allow me to be more weird races. Simple as that.
I didn't see it on the additional resources so I'm assuming not?

First off, all advice needs to use PFS legal stuff as this is a society character.
A list of things I want him to be capable of:
- Capable at sneaking/scouting this should be easy due to race and a trait to make it a class skill if it isn't already
-Some sneak attack
- A capable melee combatant once rounds have started as in can do damage outside of sneak attack and not be to flimsy
Now optional stuff that would obviously be nice:
-Making effective use of the INT plus
-Full BAB
-evasion
-getting a small boost to land speed (super optional)
Now the only two things that have really come to mind are:
Slayer: has full bab, stealth as a class skill, and sneak attack and evasion at lvl 10, and D10 hp
BUT, there is no use for having a good INT score as it has lots of ranks
All around this sounds pretty solid but I'm kinda wanting to optimize this guy and feel like not cashing in on that INT plus is a bit of a waste so any advice is welcomed.
Secondly (while I'm not sure if it is legal so if someone could answer that that'd be great) Greensting Slayer Magus: Has a limited form of sneak attack, evasion at 7th, obvious use of INT, Has spells to make up for being less inclined to melee combat. Plus sneak attack stab while shocking grasp is going through my weapon sounds super deadly and awesome.
BUT, This has average bab, limited sneak attacks, I need a trait for sneak to be a class skill and only has d8 hp.
If you guys can help with either of these ideas or have something that you think fits the bill better I'd love to hear it. Thx in advance.
I always just search for a topic that was redirected there and am kinda tired of doing this.
Do I need to take the feat fiendish heritage to make use of a different heritage? I seem to remember not having to but wanted to check.

I understand that most players have had a character who was a drunk, their are even archetypes that pertain to being a drunk. What I'm asking is, what if I had a character who used another substance?
My idea is kind of me just being silly but it's the only druid backstory I've come up with I find entertaining.
"I was studying to become a botanist. On one of my excursions I encountered a grove full of a plant I had never seen. I take it back to camp and began inspecting it. After I had determined it wasn't poisonous I began searching for any practical applications. After several fruitless tests I decided to ingest some. Nothing happened for a while and it was late so I retired for the night. I began to have a strange, good feeling as I was readying for bed, and was given a vision by Gozreh. I am now a druid and commune with Gozreh by smoking or eating this plant."
The only way this will affect gameplay is if I ever perform the augury, I will simply roll and smoke this plant, like a joint or something.
Would this be an acceptable character to bring to a society table, a certain amount of discretion can be involved if there are children at the table btw.
First off the only divine classes I like are the oracle and maybe the druid, I've never tried one but they seem cool, the general consensus of my oracle was that he was evil so I thought I'd try coming up with a pitch for a druid. The problem is that I have never played a society adventure that seemed like anything a druid would remotely care about. Am I looking at the druid wrong? They seem to only be concerned with matters that don't directly deal with society. The pathfinders don't seem to be very like minded when it comes to druids.

So I recently had a topic, "want to remake a weird Character idea that was pretty fun but everyone called evil but I disagree"... I was stoned when I made the title don't judge lol. The general consensus of this topic was that I would be lawful evil because I went through appropriate channels to kill. I was an oracle of Urgothoa who was cursed with an insatiable bloodlust, so in order to get his fix along with doing good and making a living, he decided to join the pathfinders. Seriously, any pathfinder who says their character didn't getting into this and not expect to hurt anyone is lying. Other than his thirst for blood he is an entirely pleasant guy. No players at my table said anything about my character being disruptive at all so that isn't the problem. The GM just looked at me and warned me I was heading toward an alignment switch.
So basically, if struggling to contain an inborn penchant with violence, something our society has gotten us highly desensitized to and violence is something you came to the table expecting, what sort of darker quality would be acceptable as a glaring flaw in my character's thinking could their be that isn't game hindering, is a fun quirk, and doesn't automatically make me evil?

Ok, so original character pitch was for a chaotic neutral aasimar of tengu descent, but since they"re illegal now he will just be a tengu in this rendition, he was an oracle of Urgothoa (can't spell) the goddess of death. Oracles do not need to match their deity's alignment so this totally works. But along with his curse that all oracle's have he was cursed with a twisted urge to kill. So basically he joined the pathfinder's just to morally justify killing people, and if a little good comes of it well yippie.
He's not running around like a crazed lunatic or anything, he's friendly and generally a good guy, and is not devoid of being reasoned with. For instance I ran this character on an adventure once and I think I openly mentioned my deity telling someone i killed in combat "Urgothoa take you," and I coup de graced the main boss who was an obviously evil gnoll slave trader we were told to deal with and that's the most drastic I got, but people are calling me evil? Plz we all killed that gnoll slave trader, I just finished him off with no objections from the group.
Am I in the wrong here that this can be done in a non-evil way? I think I did it pretty tastefully honestly.

First off the idea I'm going for is a kitsune ninja that has as much access to magic he can get without multi classing as well as a lot of chi. So my means of acquiring these spells/ spell like abilities is as follows:
2nd level: minor magic- need help choosing a pfs legal cantrip
3rd level feat - skill focus- I need help on what would be the best bloodline to choose thus I don't know what the focus should be on.
4th level: Major magic- shocking grasp- chidori, nuff said,
6th level feat: Eldritch heritage- I'm thinking whatever bloodline that gives thunder stomp but am open to suggestions.
6th level: shadow clone- It's kinda like a spell plus I can shout "believe it!" all the effing time <.<
8th level: Ki charge- kinda magic and it's a splash attack for them pesky swarms
Plus a maxed out use magic device to use scrolls mainly for support spells.- ninjas need scrolls
Btw the while I'm not totally going for optimization here, while he needs to be somewhat functional, I'm looking for interesting play. I get bored with classes with no variety in offensive situations I'll be a capable social character, as I tend to be as I routinely enjoy social encounters, thx to the massive amount of skills and good cha.
So, thoughts?
Ok, the ability "eldritch pool", is basically identical to Arcane Pool, and it replaces it. BUT in the description of the skill it says any ability that modifies Arcane Pool modifies Eldritch Pool. So can I be a green sting slayer that has an ability that modifies arcane pool. So wouldn't that mean I can be both archetypes at the same time? Because if I could this would be my dream class.
An eldritch scion gains an eldritch pool of personal magical energy, equal to 1/2 his magus level (minimum 1) + his Charisma modifier. As a swift action, he can spend a point of eldritch energy to enter a state of mystical focus for 2 rounds. This allows him to use abilities from his bloodrager bloodline as though he were in a bloodrage, though he gains none of the other benefits or drawbacks of bloodraging. At 4th level, an eldritch scion can also use his eldritch pool as an arcane pool, gaining all the benefits listed with the magus's arcane pool class feature.
I've looked at bloodrager and tried to figure out what abilities this is saying I have to go into mystical focus to use but I find it to be unclear. Can anyone help me understand what abilities I have to be in trance to use?

It says at level 2 he loses evasion in place of insightful strike, but is it safe to assume that when the regular monk would get improved evasion would he get evasion? It doesn't say if i recall.
Topic basically... I'm being a homemade race that recreates the poison dusk lizard folk from 3.5 using the race maker for pathfinder . and I want him to be a chaotic neutral worshiper of tiamat and either be a dragoon cleric or dragoon draconic sorcerer. Any thoughts on more character development I'm working on is appreciated cuz thats all i got at the moment o and uh topic repeatin that in case you forgot
