![]() Gentlemen, Uninvited, I know, but here is what I liked and disliked about your last three adventures With some empirical data behind it, I submit my rationale for voting Pett: Logue (Dragonslake): Excellent NPCs and innovative adventure design. The whole "theatre" angle isn't quite my cup of tea though, I must admit. Pett (Sea Wyvern): Great NPCs, nicely laid-out timeline for event occuances. I wanted more Tamochan, though.... ADVANTAGE: PETT Logue (Bullywug): Great "vibe" and good pacing. When I ran this, my players really felt the time crunch you worked into the adventure. Pett (Weavers): Everybody loves Kenku. Plus, you deserve many props for the great "Styes" setting. My only gripe: if I had to count every adventure that prominently featured spiders over the last year.... (::mind boggles::) And I hate spiders! ADVANTAGE: LOGUE (SLIGHT) Logue (Blackmaw): Nice design and well-conceived...but I'm noticing that we see too many of the same "intrigue-type" Ebberon adventures. For that, I must dock points. Pett (Prince of Redhand): Masterpiece. One of the best adventures I've had the pleasure of reading in Dungeon. Ever. Can't say enough good things about this one! ADVANTAGE: PETT So you see, when you break it down, it really does make sense! JD oot. (Seriously guys, I like *both* of your work--I'm just having fun. I'm hardly a good "adventure critic" and my "votes" are all just based on my own personal preference. Plus, if it makes you feel any better, Nick, I felt the same way about "Library of Last Resort" as I did "Prince of Redhand". Awesome, awesome stuff.... JD oot again) ![]()

In the UK ordering is only through their website, a valid e-mail address is required. I assume the same in the USA?? So, I'm guessing, an order from Amazon couldn't come from a prisoner? Could it? I would suspect that a prisoner might be able to obtain an e-mail address, depending on the facility they're incarcerated in. Most libraries have access to computers (and the internet) for educational purposes; since the understated goal of prisons is, ostensibly, rehabilitation--I would guess they're no different. That said, a Yahoo or Hotmail address would be just as easy for them to get as anyone else. From there, an Amazon.Com order wouldn't be much of a problem. I admit that that's a theory based on more than a few suppositions, but I would think they're reasonable leaps of logic. I would think it could be done. JD oot. ![]()
![]() Heathansson wrote: I don't know what the heck it all means. Ironically enough, this week I *also* scored Heroes of Horror and Heroes of Battle at my local Half Price Books (Mentor, Ohio). The exact same stuff as you, Heathansson!! They also had a 3.5 DMG and a slew of 2e stuff. What does it mean? I'm usually cynical enough that I guess theft when I see brand new stuff at Half Price, but I noticed remainder marks on most of these ones in particular. Derive from that what you will. Uncle, I understand your point, but I personally equate the whole "fluff"/"crunch" thing to two halves of a whole. What meaning, to wit, does "crunch" have without a world setting "fluff" to give it basis? True, also, the inverse. Not trying to debunk your opinion, just trying to understand it; for me, pure "crunch" just doesn't work. That's why I, personally, would like a new Greyhawk supp. JD oot. ![]()

Hey, FH...do you go to the Great Lakes renfair? It's in NE (North East...though I guess you could say Neutral Evil, too) Ohio, just over the border. And F2K, I hope everything continues to be well with your son. We need a future generation of gamers!!! :) JD oot. ![]()

I agree with Moff about Wish for sorcerers. Ask yourself this: "do I really need to cast a spell that could be named "Lose 5,000XP" three times a day"? JD ![]()

Fleetfang, It's a pretty common tactic, but my favorite non-summoning spell to follow up Time Stop with is Delayed Blast Fireball. Pull the string as soon as the world unfreezes around our favorite Kobold Sorcerer... :) I would also remind you that Gate is a Conjuration spell with the "Calling" subtype--not Summoning. It may pervert the "spirit of the law" in your DM's eyes, but technically, you could make a very sound argument that it doesn't break the letter of his rules. If he allows it, that's the spell to go for. It's a must-have spell, IMHO. Reverse Gravity (area) or anything that affects the terrain of your enemy rather than targeting him is fun, too, depending on your situation. Lastly, I recommend using Time Stop to cast Project Image, then hiding (perhaps Greater Invisibility?). Casting your spells from the projection while you're safely away is a nice move that's worked for me in the past, too. You can really screw with an enemy's perception in that way. Hope those help! JD

One for Greyhawk...my favorite of all settings to DM/play; One for Eberron, because I enjoy it conceptually, even if I have yet to play it;One for Al-Qadim, as I have fond memories of a short-lived campaign I ran set there; and lastly, One for Mystara, which I also enjoy...and I suspect will one day be "absorbed" into the greater map of Oerth.
