I posted in gameplay, though I'm still working through the awesome and very thorough murder articles, while comparing them against what the GM said my character knew about the mentioned individuals in her gameplay post. I can see the theatre map, but I can't move my character, probably because I'm on an iPad. I don't mind saying stuff like, "I move five squares to the right, and one square up," and having someone else move me, though. FYI I will be out of town for a week starting Monday and probably won't be able to post much during that time, but please do consider me part of the game. :)

Murder! Murder! So far...
Reminders for all about Izzy:
Izzy Carbuncle is a tall, blonde, elven woman wearing leather armor. Her cerulean orb eyes gaze sharply about. Those of you who have met her or heard of her before know she's a local knowledge-seeker, treasure-hunter, and all-around do-gooder known for her uncanny intelligence and spell-binding oratory. Some words she recently spoke, at the Mended Drum: "If you're curious what I can bring to the party, for now, let's just say that, although I'm no actress, I know when to keep quiet, and can, in fact, do a good job of not being seen or heard ... until being heard becomes advantageous, which it generally does. I have a few tricks up my sleeves, not to mention various magic arrows for different difficult situations, and the skill to use them well. I've lived in or near London for over a century, and know it pretty darn well by now. I can cure my allies' wounds and help with just about anything. And, most importantly, I'm determined to see this thing through and get your friend's murderer off the streets and into jail, hell, or the abyss, whichever comes first." "I would suggest that we all stick together for the next few days, until we catch the killer, so that, just in case one of us is the killer, that person isn't ever left alone to kill, and no other one of us is left alone with the killer. If someone else joins our hunting party, then we should stay in groups of at least three at all times. Standard procedure, nothing personal. Trust needs to be built before it can be given. Fair enough?" "Now, the biggest question is our approach. Do we interview those who knew the victims, yourself included, Lady Qat, in order to determine a possible motive? Do we stage a musical drama about the murders in hopes of attracting the killer's patronage and detecting his thoughts during the show? Or do we simply stalk the shadows of the streets at night, hoping to be in the right place at the right time? What suggestions have you all?" -------------- Qat invited us to meet at the City Pantheon Theatre the following morning to plan.
Qat tells us a bit about her murdered friend, and asks,
Norman shares some version of the following thoughts:
Copied from Discussion:
- People to Investigate: the various unnamed folks who discovered some of the bodies, the daughter of the Bishop, the news reporter(s) (each article, if different; as well as the "it's only mundane" newspaper), the two watchmen with Master Ludwig, the Biggleswade office (and the accuracy of their reports), the "Sugarloaf" prostitute (Malinda O'Neele), Ms. Boatwright's neighbors (noted surprise: nothing was stolen from her home...). - Errors in reporting: if the High Priest's wife witnessed the murder, why did someone else discover the body? ------------ Izzy murmurs in response, still scanning the various articles. "Hmmm. I don't know. But, who to interview first...?"

Aw, shoot. I just now read the request to re-template the characters. (I somehow missed that before. It's been a crazy month.) GM, if I recall correctly, the previous GM asked us to use Rae's template because she liked it so much. I am currently on an iPad, and I usually do all of my PbP and everything on an iPad, but that request, to format Izzy in that way, required me to use a regular computer and took hours to do. The thought of getting back on a regular computer to undo and redo it all is headache-inducing. Is there any chance my profile is alright as-is?

LOL ... I can imagine Vir, Einar, and Norman reading with interest as our discussion takes this turn. (C'mon, you guys know you're lurking!) As for my character, Izzy will probably rebuff any romantic advances, but I have no problem with others RPing such relationships. (I would be uncomfortable if anything sexual was actually forced on Izzy directly, though.) In terms of gore, I don't mind grizzly crime scene descriptions, although, again, I suppose I'd rather it not be Izzy's intestines getting described in great detail. :)

As Einar begins tapping, it's clear from Izzy's expression that she finds the music odd ... and it's like she's trying to place the origin, but can't quite do it. However, by the second song, she's into it, her head nodding in rhythm. She smiles and nods her approval at Einar when he finishes. Izzy quirks an eyebrow at Vir's antics, then listens to Qat's second performance and nods in agreement at her suggestions. She opens her mouth to respond to Kelendia question, then looks annoyed when the overly-accented and falsely-inebriated Norman interrupts. Can't the guy just drop the act? She looks back at Kelendia to offer a response. "Nets, no. But if we want to take him alive, I've got just the arrows to do it. Do we want to take him alive?" Hey, GM, how would the London law look upon vigilante justice? Do we need to capture the killer alive to avoid getting in major trouble ourselves?

After adding her own oratory to Qat's inspiring song, Izzy looks around to see if anyone else is interested in joining their hunting party ... but no one else steps forward. "I suppose it's the seven of us, then. That'll do." Her eyes move to Einar's quirky possession. "Is there a story about the jar?"

Izzy gestures at the empty chair the armored woman has touched, inviting her to have a seat. Although Einar and I never specified that we stood up from sitting on the floor, several posts now have presumed that we have and that we've settled around an otherwise empty table, so I'll go with the assumption that we're gathered around a big round table now. "Greetings, Kelendia. Yes, we're gathering here to form a hunting party or two, with London's recently infamous mass murderer as our target. If you'd like to channel your destructive capabilities in such a beneficial manner, you'll be welcome." Izzy is obviously somewhat skeptical, but genuine, nonetheless.

I, too, laughed out loud at Vir's assumption/solution. Izzy raises both eyebrows in incredulity at Vir giving an autograph to the overly generic guy who shows up everywhere. She smiles slightly when he finally approaches their group, and even more so when he drops his affected accent. She asks him carefully and softly.". "So, what name should we be calling you, then?" When the noble soldier criminal lady makes her entrance, Izzy frowns, a hint of recognition in her eyes. However, when the question is asked, Izzy reluctantly raises a finger to catch the new arrival's attention. "Yes." When the armored blonde human approaches, Izzy asks quietly... "Kelendia, is it? Or Honey?"

Izzy nods at Qat, then quirks a half smile at Einar's comment. "Ah, yes, him. He is an interesting one, isn't he? Perhaps if we all stare at him long enough, he'll either introduce himself or go away." Izzy stares straight at the generic guy and raises a single eyebrow in a high arch.
Ooooh ... Congrats! What play? Director? SM? Or what role? I know that craziness and the bittersweet relief when it's over! :) Okay, no problem, so for MP, if I get 8 MP, I can cast four more second level spells per day, OR eight more first level spells per day, or some combination thereof, yes? As for action point numbers ... I'm still missing something somewhere ... But I start with three? I'll take it. Thanks.

For the purposes of this post, I am assuming Einar, Qat, Vir, Rae, and Izzy are the five presently sharing the mental link, since Ruskov and Norman have yet to introduce themselves and join us in the corner. Izzy notices Qat noticing Norman, and something like an amused expression crosses her face, but she mentals to the group of five... "As far as displaying our abilities, it seems like such a thing might be wiser in private. Lady Qat, you suggested that you have access to a theatre for such practice?" "If you're curious what I can bring to the party, for now, let's just say that, although I'm no actress, I know when to keep quiet, and can, in fact, do a good job of not being seen or heard ... until being heard becomes advantageous, which it generally does. Or do we simply stalk the shadows of the streets at night, hoping to be in the right place at the right time? What suggestions have you all?" The slender elf finally pauses in her mental monologue long enough for others to respond. Her cerulean orb eyes move to each of yours in turn, awaiting a response.
... Here I am! It's been fun playing with Izzy's crunch and getting to know more about her character. I like how Rae and Norman have already characterized her as a meddlesome goody-goody. I like how I refluffed her sonic burst spell as righteous indignation ... shouting "HOW DARE YOU?!" at a gang of ruffians and stunning them into briefly rethinking their lives. :) I like experimenting with a (comparatively) low charisma bard. ... I have Izzy's Archaeologist Bard abilities/spells and her equipment all set, so the main part of her crunch I'm still working out is the Final Fantasy Bard lesser gestalt suggested by the GM. I'm a bit confused on what precisely "MP is used to fuel your bard spells known" means ... If I get 8 MP on the chart at 5th level, does that mean I know 8 more bard spells? Finally, I'm hoping for clarity on action points: If my WIS mod is +2 and I'm level 5, then it sounds like I have a pool of 3 action points. So, do I start with 3? Or is three my maximum possible, and I start with 1? Thanks, GM! --- EDIT: @Lessah re. Richard: But, does he sparkle in the sunlight? -- EDIT2: @Everyone re. my Lady Firedove post above: What if our murderer actually is Shia LaBeouf???

Sticking with previous rolls for this scene, in general:
When Vir approaches, Izzy, recognizing him as a man of more certain words than deeds, responds, "Vir, if you get your sword into London's killer, you'll finally have a story worth telling." Specific Perception vs. Qat: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
When Qat does her transformative and then vanishing act, Izzy nods, mildly impressed. However, when her dagger is handed back to her, it takes her a confused moment to realize it had been taken from her in the first place. She shoots Qat a look of annoyance and suspicion. When Einar asks for volunteers, Izzy nods, looking curious.

Izzy nods at Einar's explanation. Makes sense to her. By way of introduction, she offers a hand to shake. "Izzy Carbuncle. Welcome to London." At Qat's explanation, she turns grim. "Sorry to hear it. Horrible thing, these murders. Do you know if there was any connection between your deceased friend and the other victims?" When Rae heads over and joins the conversation, and Qat responds by showing her blade and soliciting aid, Izzy replies... "I'm in. I'd like to get that psycho off the streets." The blonde elf looks up at the recent arrival leaning against the pillar nearby, her elven eyes scanning the woman carefully. "I remember you. Rae, right? I think you're supposed to be good at this kind of thing. So, how should we set the trap?" Finally, Izzy notices the madly gesticulating Stella still clinging to an oblivious Vir and calls over to her in Sylvan... Sylvan: "Would you like to join us, Little One? Leave your big pet to play and c'mon over here."

The blonde elf saunters over toward the whistler sitting on the floor in the corner and her unusual companion with the jar. She gives them both a nod. "Problem with the chairs here?" Without waiting for an answer, she slips gracefully into a cross-legged position nearby, moving her rapier, shortbow, and leather bag easily and silently into an alternate position to accommodate floor-sitting. She looks closely at the woman in the colorful outfit and speaks up, blunt as ever. "I've seen you perform before. You weren't bad. Today you look awful. What happened?"

The wind howling outside can be suddenly heard in the tavern as the door slams open.
