Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Sorry, I tried to go back and re-read but didn't see any HP postings since my last action. I must have missed something. As far as the rest goes, I thought I remembered that we did, but I was in a hurry to get a post down, so I erred on the side of caution and assumed I had fewer spells left to spend. That'll make it 3 1st level spells left, then, not 1. My best intentions are to stick with this better, but honestly, I doubt I'll be participating in a PbP again soon after this is over. I have a hard time making it a priority and staying interested. I think the pacing just doesn't work for me. I'm better in person. Anyhow, sorry to everyone for being a miserably useless player for the most part. I will endeavor to be better.

Well, with the Bard out of action, Irijaya does what she does best. She heals the Paladin.

Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Have some healz, Zedril!

And that leaves me with 1 out of 4 1st level spells remaining, guys.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya continues to focus fire on her initial target.

1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3

Or not...

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya keeps to the rear of the group and opens fire on one of the minion kobolds (Let's say #2) with her crossbow.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Presuming that hits...

1d8 ⇒ 4

And the kobold sprouts an arrow!

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya readies her crossbow.

Looks like we may have to fight again...

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Sorry, we traveled last weekend, didn't get back til Monday, and I've spent the rest of the week sick/playing catch-up from being gone. I'm back...

That said I'm largely useless in this situation, short of...

Irijaya ponders the phrase "Fire Speaker," trying to come up with anything similar that she may have studied in the past.

Knowledge: Religion - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24... it would seem that if there is anything to know, I likely know it.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya is fluent in Kelish and has no problem reading the trade agreements.

Infodump plz?

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya now turns her attention to the fallen Paladin.

Lophisel Irori, pict ril fuoctl!

Translation:
Sublime Irori, bind his wounds!

Another Cure Light. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4... sigh. Only 4 HP back, Zedril. Sorry I couldn't do more, but at least you're still with us. 2/4 1st Level Spells per Day remain.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

...and the Rogue moves. Oh goody.

Scarab Sages

Multiplier should be everything, including strength mod.

Pathfinder PRD wrote:
Multiplying Damage: Sometimes you multiply damage by some factor, such as on a critical hit. Roll the damage (with all modifiers) multiple times and total the results.

Guys, we are standing in the fire here. This fight is going to seriously head south if we don't change tactics.

A couple of important notes:

1. No one who is blinded should move AT ALL. Stand where you are. You can't take a withdraw action, so movement a) provokes, and b) risks you taking an epic faceplant and being prone the rest of this fight. It's not a worthwhile use of your time.

2. On that note, Quintus, get in the damn room, man. You can heal blind, and realistically, that's all we need you to do right now. Cowering in the hallway is asking the rest of us to take attacks of opportunity and/or faceplant to get to you. Neither of those are good options. Most of the people in the room will die from one attack of opportunity at the moment.

3. Staggering backwards and screaming is not an effective use of anyone's action. I don't care if it's in character. If we don't raise DPS on this guy, we're phuct. He's getting full-round attacks on us right now. We need to get our collective heads in the game and retaliate.

4. I am going to full-heal mode for the rest of the fight. I'm blowing through my spells per day and then dropping back to the wand for any further heal needs. We're outgunned and I would prefer not to see a TPK. Between Quintus and I we should be able to provide sufficient healing. Any of the rest of you using actions to try to heal yourselves is going to provoke and probably result in your deaths, so concentrate on pounding the snot out of Mr. Froggy.

If we can collect ourselves and act appropriately to our situation, I think we can make it out of this with everyone alive and relatively healthy. If we keep dinking around, this thing stands a real chance of heading in a direction that results in the blindheim getting a five-course meal - us. Please let's not allow that to happen.

Thanks guys, we can do this!

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

OK, guys, we are officially DOIN THIS RONG. I am going to attempt to remedy some stuffs. Please see post in Discussion.

Irijaya, blind, but not helpless, is becoming acutely aware of the terrible state of her allies. If something isn't done soon, she realizes, all may be lost.

Quintus, wely ic relnel! Fel vaccuy lelel zuo yu vusel yu zuo, act I vaccuy xelelq yrellel qeluqhel ahijel uc sz ufc!

Translation:
<Quintus>, get in here! We cannot see you to come to you, and I cannot keep these people alive on my own!

Irijaya lays her hands on Dasiji and chants a new incantation.

Pz yrel hiwry ub Irori, pel relahelt!

Translation:
By the light of Irori, be healed!

Casting Cure Light on the Ranger. No additional rolls needed since it's by touch and he's not resisting so 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 and you can haz 5 HP. 3/4 1st Level Spells per Day remain.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya gropes around until she finds Zedril's pauldrons,

Salyeln ub Salyelnl, wijel ris ynoel ais.

Translation:
Master of Masters, give him true aim.

Assuming an MA is not needed since we're all bunched up, cast Guidance on the Pally. Being blind sucks.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Oh, goody, a blindheim. I used these once...

Irijaya, wisely, had kept her crossbow ready. She takes aim against the frog-thing and fires.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 for a crit - attempt to confirm
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 So assuming that confirms...
2d8 ⇒ (7, 4) = 11

Suck it, froggy.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Gah! Sorry, I was in a hurry. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Crap, I am sorry you guys, I have been almost insanely busy. Gratz on that ooze fight, by the way, two hit kill ftw. I'm back now, at any rate.

Earlier...
Irijaya has been following the party, mulling over the strange carving she was observing earlier. She was ready for the fight with the ooze, until the ranger and the paladin turned it into goose-grease in two swings. Noticing that the ruins have been getting progressively darker, she has picked up a roughly baseball-sized rock or chunk of paving stone and is refreshing Light on it in periodic increments, making sure that she and those around her have some illumination. When Dasiji was charged by the beetles, Irijaya was only a few steps away and moved quickly to assist.

Now...
Thinking quickly, Irijaya pulls her crossbow. Wordlessly, she snaps off a bolt at the beetle directly engaged with Dasiji.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 to CRITICAL hit.
2d8 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 damage.
MA: Draw Light Crossbow. SA: Makes with the schusting.

Fair enough.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

The skill check is not Spellcraft for Detect Magic in this case, it's Knowledge: Arcana, which I can't use because it's untrained. Hence my attempt to use a different skill. That's OK, I don't figure it out.

Hmmm. Actually, I guess that's sort of a fine line. If you would consider this to be "determining the properties of a magic item," then the check is Spellcraft. If, on the other hand, you would first expect me to "determine the school of magic involved," that's a Knowledge: Arcana check. It's kind of complicated. I'll go with your ruling.

Also, technically, I shouldn't know that this is an evocation aura in the first place, since I only concentrated for two rounds and did not make a skill check the first time I cast the spell. I'll fix that in my character post. Ye gods, this spell is messy.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya looks over the bas relief on the wall.

Hmm. This appears to be the source of a magical aura I sensed earlier. I wonder what it does?

She searches the relief for any indication of its use or purpose.

Perception at +0, but hey, it's in character of her to look. 1d20 ⇒ 5

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya purses her lips as Dasiji freezes in place. She mutters something imprecatory under her breath with regards to the monstrous ex-Pathfinder, then approaches the creature and lays hands on her, showering her with positive energy. This looks like it would feel wonderful... if used on the living.

Natiacy hiwry yu vhelaclel isqoniyz, lricel bunyr! Vonel Hiwry Fuoctl!

Radiant light to cleanse impurity, shine forth! Cure Light Wounds!

Cure Light Wounds on Maurit, DC 15... she's not gonna like this. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

MA: Move to Ghoul SA: Cast

Ah, it's been brought to my attention that I need to cast defensively to make this work out. I will do so, making the requisite DC 17 Concentration check. CHA mod +4, level 1:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya makes a rapid mental note about the possible trap on the door before turning to the problem at hand. Assessing the situation, and trying to keep her words to a minimum, she determines that Zedril could use the aid of the Master of Masters.

Hiwry ub Irori, woitel Zedril's ans!

Translation:
Light of Irori, guide Zedril's arm!

Casting Guidance on our Pally. Make with the smashy-smashy, good sir.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Ah, the entrance. Well, better safe than sorry, I suppose.

Irijaya mutters the following in Celestial and gestures, tracing a line from her eyes to the door, then making some sort of runic mark in the air:

Anvacel qufeln, neljelah zuonlelhb yu sz liwry. Telyelvy Sawiv!

Translation:
Arcane power, reveal yourself to my sight. Detect Magic!

Casting Detect Magic, concentrating for two rounds since I don't have Knowledge: Arcana trained. :/

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya watches, slightly open-mouthed, as Dasiji astutely handles the Qadiran Venture Captain. After shaking the Keleshite's hand and bidding him good even, she turns back to Dasiji.

You certainly do have a way with words, my friend. You would do well in the Grand Chronicler's Circle of Niswan. I sense that we have much in common.

She turns to the group as a whole.

Feuding factions, a ruined keep, a mysterious artifact, undead, and trade agreements? I believe the Tian Xia would say that this promises to be a most interesting adventure. Unfortunately, among the Tian, "may you live in interesting times" is, in fact, a curse.

We all seem capable enough, however. I'm almost looking forward to this.

She waits until the others have finished mingling, then follows them back to the Pathfinder Society sleeping quarters. She seems to continue to take an interest in Dasiji, sticking closer to him throughout the remainder of the party than the others.

I think I might actually fit in with this unusual group. Master Irori certainly has a plan for me. Who would've thought it would involve raiding ruins and battling the undead?

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya has been quietly following behind her companions, taking further notes on her sheet of parchment as Venture Captain Amara Li instructs them on the upcoming mission. She appears quietly amused at Quintus and Kehl's banter, and intrigued by the far-from-home Mwangi, but says little. At the mention of the undead, her ears perk up slightly.

Undead, you say? Foul creatures. They have failed in the struggle for perfection and purity that the Master of Masters calls each of us to endure. I can assure you that they will not outlast an encounter with me.

As the Eagle Knight begins to expound on his life philosophy, Irijaya stays silent for a bit. She's not terribly philosophically minded, preferring fact and history to relatively esoteric notions like "freedom." Eventually, though, as it becomes clear that the man will not be silent, she turns to Dasiji.

Irijaya Suchitra, scholar of ancient mysteries. It's a pleasure to meet you, and to get to some adventuring that doesn't involve rats and collapsing cargo holds. Do I detect an Ijo fisher's accent in your voice? It is always so interesting to meet someone else from... well, from not around here.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya listens carefully to Lady Amara's instructions. She removes a piece of parchment - one of her most valued possessions - from her backpack and makes a few notes in a tiny, precise hand at the top with a quill pen that, it becomes apparent, she was already holding in one hand.

As a historian, I am interested in anything else you would be willing to share about this jade katana, Lady Amara. Does it have any legendary properties we should be aware of? I am also curious about the condition of the ruins reported to you by the Pathfinders. Are we to expect some sort of resistance in this mission, or do the ruins appear vacant?

Having asked her questions, Irijaya waits patiently for the answers, pen and parchment ready.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

Irijaya rushes into the palace a bit late. She is dressed well, but clearly a bit rumpled, and ink-stains mar her sleeves. She identifies Quintus and Kehl from their Society badges and rushes over.

Ah, you must be my compatriots for this mission. Greetings, I am Irijaya Suchitra, scholar of ancient mysteries. I am deeply sorry for my tardy arrival and general appearance. I intended to arrive early, but the directions I received were sadly lacking. And then, on the way here, was a beautiful library dedicated to the histories of ancient Tian Xia. A library! Well, of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Her mouth twists.

And that was yesterday.

Scarab Sages

Female Human (Vudrani) Oracle 1

I'm here as well. Sorry everyone for the delay... It's been an interesting week, in the sense of the ancient Chinese curse.

Irijaya Suchitra, scholar of ancient mysteries, at your service!
