HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Little by little, the bard is looking less haggard and more like his old self. Still the dark circles under his eyes and generally muted joie de vivre are signs that the affliction lingers. "Ah, nothing that an open road and fresh breeze can't cure," he mumbles. "Hey- you ever hear the one about Cayden Cailean's third quest for a night in Calistria's bed?" The bard pulls out a wine skin and sips a little just to wind up for the journey ahead. "It all started when he woke up in a barn on the outskirts of a little village like Sandpoint here, with a half remembered dream, a quarter of a plan and a wide open road calling his name..."
Illes will have healed 2 of 5 by now.
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Illes munches the pear and nods, "Yeah, you got me on both of those questions. Not sure if he was sleeping away the centuries and something woke him or if he has been on another plane doing who knows what. Either way, he's active but can't get here yet."
"Hey, you remember all that business with the Skinsaw Men a while back and how they were marking people with sihedron runes before killing them? Souls collected. Same with this giant wizard we just killed up in the mountains."
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
"Well nothing formal, you know. Just that the ruins of their empire spread across Varisia, the Runelords weren't exactly friends but not quite enemies either. This area borders Alaznist and Karzoug's realms, oh and that Karzoug is still alive somewhere and has minions marking people with the sihedron rune to collect their souls which will power his return to Avistan," Illes rattles off nonchalantly. The bard grabs a pear from the scholar's kitchen and holds it up, "You mind?"
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Illes thinks back through all of the stories he's heard on the road over the years trying to come up with something that sounds like a match.
Illes can take 32 on Geography, then that ability will be tapped for the rest of the day
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Illes takes another swig of his beer, "We're gonna have to go back down there before they go to bury the ruins. See if we can find the foundation stones Mokmurian was looking for. Then that might lead us to Xaliasa's runekey to the Runeforge so we can lock it down or destroy it before Karzoug rounds up someone else to find it."
Aubrey I was away during the research period before we headed back to Sandpoint and missed the research rolls. If you are okay I might have done these to round it out had I been available at the time:
Kn History (Who was Xaliasa?) Loremaster Take 20 = 31
Kn Arcana (What is a Foundation Stone?) Loremaster Take 20 = 35
I'm assuming the foundation stone is a thing and not just the cornerstone of the structure. Otherwise why would it point to an individual?
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Illes downs half his tankard and wipes the foam away. He sighs, "But where does that leave the rest of us? One runelord out there collecting souls with his sihedrons. I'm gonna say we just looked Karzoug in the face back there in the runewell, right? We just locked eyes with Lamashtu for gods' sake! The other... Alaznist? The runelord who used to rule this area? But is we saw her and she saw us... she is out there somewhere too.
Desna weeps, we are in over our heads."
Lack of characteristic optimism = 5 points of charisma damage by the way.
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Illes arrives about that point shuffling across the tavern lost in his own world. He's looking more haggard than wry, ruffling days worth of stubble that is closer to beard than unshaven at this point. He nods to Ameiko as he sinks into a chair at the table and interjects, "Huh. Could be that muscled up knuckle head was the smartest out of the lot of us. Settling down, starting a family... never crossed my mind before, but it is starting to sound nice about now." He grabs one of the tankards and raises it in a toast, "To that beautiful bald bastard. Probably knee deep in sweet Shoanti lasses trying to lock that down by now. "
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
"Listen Cam, I'm gonna have to get some supplies for his place. Figure there's nothing much edible as long as he's been down there. Let's get him over there and could you sit with him for a while til I get some fresh water and some groceries? Then you can head over to The Rusty Dragon." Illes looks more haggard and just bone tired than he has in weeks after the ordeal with Vethran. There is no sly smile or wink. He just looks too serious to be the same person right now.
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
"Vethran has a home. I'd rather take him there, but we usually meet up at The Rusty Dragon when we are here."
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
"Holy... Sweet Desna!" Illes looks around in amazement, "Did you all see that? I think it worked, but we shouldn't talk here after seeing that! Hey muscles," he nods to Tikrok, "Help me get Vethran out of here." Illes reaches in with some help and hauls his cousin's drenched body out of the runewell.
We need to get Vethran back regardless and I imagine Alwyn will split at that point, but are there still unexplored areas down here?
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
With a little help from Alwyn, Illes carefully lowers the bound Vethran into the runewell and looks down on him deep in sorrow.
"Alwyn, just hold him by the rope so he doesn't drown while we try to save him."
"Vethran, I know you are in there. You are gonna have to help me here ksadelphos. Fight! You can do this!" Illes begins softly singing over the struggling form in the runewell in an attempt to cast out the spiritual parasite from a forgotten past.
Break Enchantment: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
If that doesn't work he can try one more time.
Break Enchantment: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Unless the runewell grants a bonus both of those probably failed. The first one will break only up to CL 10.

Need to find the runewell first.
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
"It is." Illes feels his way through the fog and kneels over his cousin's fallen form, "Ehh Vethran! Why'd you have to go and get yourself possessed? I don't know how we are going to fix this, but I promise you we will. But until then, we have to keep your friend under control." Turning back to Elisile he says, "We are going to have to bind his hands down to the fingers, gag him and either use a blind fold or a bag over his head. You really think we can fix this with the runewell?"
HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5
Illes snaps out of his daze and comes to his senses with a streak of anger rarely seen in the bard. He begins spitting Varisian curses at the hound so foul that one language is not enough to contain them and they wind through Varisian, Taldane, Goblin and the ancient Thassilonian granted by his tongues spell.

I had to be close enough to ID Vethran based on posts. With G&W that means within 10'. So that means I have to start next to that creepy ass man-dog. Q22
We all have this issue. You can't target him with a spell if you can't see him, and can't see him unless you are within 10 feet.
Arthur,
Ability damage changed in PF. You don't lose spells. Every 2 points of damage will lower your Cha skills, Cha based spell DCs and channel energy DC.
1 point of Cha damage does nothing until you hit 2, 4, 6 and so on.

His spell enables Illes to follow along, but at this point he is still reeling listening to this alien parasite puppeteering his cousin's body. Elisile seems so much more calm and controlled than anything he is feeling right now that the bard keeps his mouth shut for the moment and lets her keep this thing talking.
Was the Kn Arcana 35 above worth anything toward knowing how to restore Vethran and/or the others?

From within the necrotic mass, Illes muffled voice starts singing again becoming clearer as he inexplicably slips through its grasping and hungry limbs, vaulting out of the mass in full Varisian verse, shield in hand with a wild eyed grin. The bard whirls on the horror and holds his sheild out as he backs away.
She said it's hard for me to see
How one little boy got so ugly
Yes my little girly that might be
But there ain't nobody that can sing like me

Amid the shrieks and wails Illes voice cuts through loud and clear,
"I lived in a place called Okfuskee
And I had a little girl in a holler tree
I said, little girl, it's plain to see
Ain't nobody that can sing like me
Ain't nobody that can sing like me"
and somehow it brings things back into focus, driving away the madness rolling off of this abomination. As he sings the bard begins working magic into the song to speed his allies in battle.

Figures. We're gonna have to climb all the way down there to remind the jerk to eat a meal and get back in the sun once in a while." Despite his confidence, Illes' smile is a little tight and his decision to get a move on uncharacteristic, "All right, let's do it then. But I can't help you out with the light situation. I could accompany your heroic climb with a heroic ballad though." Illes winks at the halfling, "What do you say?"

"I miss Hudak already. Damn. It looks like I'll have to carry out this investigation on my own, but one way or another I'll get to the bottom of it. I promise you that."
When the gate guard meets them with an emergency, Illes throws his hands up and shakes them at the sky. "Desna! Why have you forsaken me!?"
