My level 8 ravener rolls 2x for init at +14 and attacks for +18(+manyshot)/+18/+18/+13 for 1d8+11+2d6. If they are flat-footed he adds an additional 10d6 sneak attack. Crit on 19-20.

He also has enough magic and skills to help both in and out of combat.

Break that down Ragoz

Silver Crusade

^ You are correct.

Silver Crusade

You guys are aware that a simple intimidation can shut down all spells casting on psychic magic right? They can't even benefit from heroism.

Silver Crusade

Jon is pretty ballin.

Congrats Carl.

Silver Crusade

Wow, no race boons this year.

Shaun,

That is a fantastic idea.

Glorious, I look forward to the challenge. I have only had one PC die in 3 years.

Before I start this discussion I would like to say that I am with Mike Brock, I am against replay in most situations.

However, I think this could be an excellent compromise. Since season zero is getting a makeover, they will be fully updated and refurbished, using new feats and tactics then what they were originally given, better CRs, access to fancier spells and combat abilities. So with the coming of season 7 they will release 2 updated scenarios of season 0 and 2 new season 7 scenarios. Season 0 scenarios will be repayable once if you have already played it before season 7 came out. This would continue with season 8 and season 1 would be repayable once. Monsters and combats and traps would be the only thing needed to be updated.

This would allow organizers to draw in oldtimers who have played through everything but also add excitement because the combats are different. It would also encourage new and old players too see where we have been.

Thoughts?

Majuba, I was the level 11 Paladin, That game was fantastic!

I think we've all had a few games like that. I know there have been a couple sessions that made me feel like I didn't want to GM anymore.

Oh I have been there, I had an existential crisis when I played EoTT Part 1.

EotT:
After we had saved the Red Raven, he asked where his wife and friends where, which we totally murder (I was a Paladin), because they were the bad guys, I had a mental break down and realized I was a horrible person. I knew I was getting an atonement after that.. but just the utter shock that we had been bamboozled....ugh, I will never forget it and it always makes me a little sick thinking about it.

Unless a GM has full control of a game and abilities to modify on a whim, Goz mask+eversmoking bottle, makes 95% of games easy, even ones with hardmode.

Hey all,

Our Scenario pool is getting low with some of our people. I think 3 nights is a stretch for a module, so does anyone know of modules that can be ran in under 8 hours?

+1 to Trollbill. Walter is correct that the winds of change are moving towards more good aligned missions or meta narratives. PFS should incentives playing good, or at least some loyalty to the society. So far as shown in season 4, not so much.

Season 4 Spoilers abound:
I personally thought that at the end of season 4 if you had all those boons your soul should of been sucked out at the end and your character should of been retired from play because of their treachery against the society. Multiple people WILLFULLY compromised the entire society for their own personal gain. What negative effects do they have? Oh in the finale fight he can spend his precious action economy to make a minor negative effect. Please, the second you fight Krune all your bonuses should of just turned into auto penalties.

Except as you noted, GMing isn't free. Unless your store has a lending library*, you need maps, you need minis, you need scenarios, etc. $8 isn't likely to break someone, but given the choice between spending $8 to come to game, and staying home and having an extra $8 dollars for food, some of our players really are that close some weeks.

Also, you just said poor players should GM's to get scenarios for free, then you turned around and said GM's have to pay for scenarios? Players also have to buy books. (GM's get to just use the free prd, but players need to have whatever books have the things they use.)

This isn't really a thing about producers vs consumers. This is an issue of how can we make game fun for everyone, and keep the store happy to have us.

*I'm actually in the process of building a new store lending library.

Flite. I am not going to tell you how to run your area, I am saying that your area will be healthier in the long run if you can establish a community that has actually invested capital in it. As someone who has GMed in an area where they do not do this, they are consistently scrambling for GMs and you have a large part that are purely consumers. You will burn out your GMs if they are not getting more then the players. There is a reason why at conventions like Paizo Con or Gen Con, they Shower Gms with gifts.

I think you might have skipped over a post earlier where I explained that the GM would buy the scenario, and the store would reimburse them. Gming doesn't just start in a vacuum, but if you want to play PFS you have to have a GM and thus someone is going to have to suck up the bill to buy all that stuff. Usually that is the person who is already committed and is setting up the event.

Send me your address and I will send you 15-20 minis to help start your Lending Library if you buy 2 plain Flipmats for poor judges to use.

Yes, players need books if they want to use things in them, you can make a pretty good character out of CRB, you don't have to buy every book and if you can spend 10 dollars on a book for an awesome feat, you can spend 8 dollars to use that feat for 16 to 20 hours.

Flite, you do what you think is best.

FLite wrote:
It also means that if some of our players can afford it, and some can't, we don't shut people out.

Oh no. This person who can't "afford" it can GM twice a month and then spend the credit he has to play twice a month and still have a 6 dollar bonus in credit, and 2 scenarios for free. Seriously if a person plays 4 times a month (once a week), then he is spending 8 dollars for 16-20 hours of game play. The person who can't afford this are straight up lying. If some one told me 8 dollars would break them a month I would be hard pressed to believe them.

If you don't do this, your GMs carry a huge load versus playing. They have to do the following
*Spend 4 dollars on the scenario
*Spend 2-3 Hours of Prep
*Spend money on Materials
*

Player
Just show up and consume.

Silver Crusade

I seriously wish I lived where Dragon's store is. I don't understand why more stores don't do this. Two dollars is seriously nothing. When I move to Michigan, I will hunt down a store that has this policy, and if not I will find a game shop that will do this and install it.

Use 4 dollars to reimburse the scenario and then give 5 dollars of store Credit to the GM.
The Store keeps whatever is left over.
The store gains loyalty with product.
The players are invested in the community.
People will want to GM.
People that don't want to GM don't have to because they are actually helping the community by funding it.
No one is a leech in this system.

And the negatives are?

Silver Crusade

Dungeonginger, know that you have the ability to do that but don't do it often and spare it for under level 5.

Silver Crusade

So I am moving to Ann Arbor Michigan in May 2014 and I will gladly apply for the position when the time comes.

Yeah, I understand that, I just would like to know if they spell out what a free captain is and can you be a captain and not a free captain in the shackles.

Silver Crusade

Where is the subject of free captains discussed in the AP? If you have a fleet, are your captains not free captains?

Silver Crusade

Yeah, there is not much done for 1-3. I will probably clean it up too. I have a ton of different things that I am doing for 4-6. If anyone thinks these changes are too much please let me know.

Why are people so afraid of dominate person? I mean sure it has the possibility to wreck havoc on the entire party but it also makes for a fantastic and memorable game. (This is also coming from a guy who had his friend's 10 level magus dominated, which killed half the party).

Not inherently, no. Otherwise every formal execution in the world ever would be evil – every hanging, beheading, everything – and I'm pretty sure that some good-aligned nations execute certain criminals on a regular basis.

If the target doesn't deserve it, then yeah, it's evil. But not because they're helpless.

We are pathfinders not a country with established laws. They have gone through a process and are deemed guilty of committing crimes that are evil. Context is king.

Silver Crusade

Agree with Jiggy and that the actions does not depend on the perpetrator, I also agree that the GM should have warned him about it but I think we have to look at the spell in general.

It kills a helpless opponent (which is wrong towards most mortal beings but Evil outsiders are different, they are irredeemable) and gives you a bonus for sucking the life out of them. That is pretty evil, to say the least. Good is about being Altruistic in Pathfinder, that is not altruistic in anyway shape or form. It is actually extremely selfish and thus not a gray area but in fact an evil act. Casting a spell that has
an evil descriptor is not inherently evil...but what this spell does is quite evil.

You cannot compare this spell to infernal healing.

I think it should be removed, along with animate dead.

I just want to make a confirmation here as I received a Boon today which while it was labelled a Player boon, only seems to apply if you are a GM. Is this correct?

The Boon is 'Extra Hours' which basically allows you to make a Day Job check for one of your own characters *IF* you GMed and are applying a GM Chronicle sheet to that character. ie allowing you to make a day job check because you GMed.

Im not repeating the exact wording because Im not sure of the legality of that.

Can someone official please confirm if this is correct?

Thanks in advance.

(PS Already spoken to our VC Sydney Australia and he is the one who told me to query it here)

Better start Gming to take advantage of the boon.

Silver Crusade

Checking in. Like I said in the message, will not be posting till late on the 6th. I will update my character in a few. BTW, we have like a billion Arcane Casters in this group right?

Silver Crusade

Hands down season 4. Season 0 has some of the best roleplaying in it but the combats are a joke due to the 3.5 rules.

A table that lists the subtier by the total party level instead of the APL might be useful, and easier for GMs to use "in the trenches". For example, I have the following two tables for Tier 1-5 scenarios.

The numbers in the tables are the total number of levels in the party.
The columns are:
# = number of players in the party
Low = subtier 1-2
Low4 = subtier 1-2 with the 4-player adjustments
High = subtier 4-5
High4 = subtier 4-5 with the 4-player adjustments

Tier 1-5, Seasons 0-3
#__Low___High_

6 | 06-14 | 15-30
7 | 07-17 | 18-35

Tier 1-5, Seasons 4-5

6 | _N/A_ | 06-14 | 15-20 | 21-30
7 | _N/A_ | 07-17 | 18-24 | 25-35

I can create the tables for other Tiers if there is interest and you feel it will be useful.

Hey could you do this on xcel or google doc for all the tiers and upload it to the shared drive. Many GMs, myself included, will praise you for this.
