Silver Crusade

They're red, they're white, they're brown
They get that way underground
There can't be much to do
So now they have blue ones too.

We don't care what they look like, we'll eat them
Any way they can fit on our plate
Any way we can conjure to heat them
We're delighted to think they're just great.

PotaTo potaTo potaTo!
Potato Potato Potato Potato!
PoTato poTato poTato!
PotaTo potaTo potaTo!

Sometimes you ditch the skin
To eat what it's holding in
Sometimes you'd rather, please,
Have just the outside with cheese.

They have eyes but they do not have faces
I don't know if their feeling get hurt
By just hanging around in dark places
Where they only can stare at the dirt.

PotaTo potaTo potaTo!
Potato Potato Potato Potato!
PoTato poTato poTato!
PotaTo potaTo potaTo!

I guess the use is scant
For other parts of the plant
But that which grows in view
Is eating potato too.

I imagine them under their acres
Out in Idaho or up in Maine
They'll be wondering if they'll be bakers
Or new, deep-fried, boiled or plain.

PotaTo potaTo potaTo!
Potato Potato Potato Potato!
PoTato poTato poTato!

I STILL want to play this in that.

@Salvius: Don't forget, retraining is an option, too (as is, perhaps, a sympathetic DM allowing a still-low-level character to alter a decision made based on incomplete/flawed knowledge of the pertinent rules - I have seen it done before).

Pulg is actually a smaller-than-is-typical, unorthodoxly-decorated Wicker Man. You could easily fit 2 Gnomes, 3 Halflings, or 4 Goblins inside of him before...initiating festivities.

Actually, never mind - I don't see any Archetypes I'd want (well, Primalist appeals to me because I've always wanted to play a "wild mage," but it might not entirely fit this character.).

For everyone who earlier stated that they too grapple with depression/anxiety/etc: Have you heard of the Fisher-Wallace device? I just got mine and started trying it 3 days ago or so - it's not super-cheap, and the process is not particularly comfortable, but even though I've only used it twice so far, it may already be helping me majorly with my insomnia.

You're probably right, given that there was a Hong Kong-made kung fu movie several years back called Kung Fu Hustle that prominently features a cartel of thugs known and armed appropriately as the "Axe Gang."

My inclination, especially since Unchained Rogues get Weapon Finesse as part of the package, might be to give Rogues proficiency with all light martial weapons, or all weapons in the "Light Blades" and "Close" weapon categories, and maybe take away proficiency with 2-handed simple weapons.

I'd actually like it if more class proficiencies were quirkier than "the basic standards:" Proficiency with all simple weapons stamped everywhere is kind of lame (not to mention all the classes who get proficiency with spears that way that...really don't seem right wielding spears).

Odd as it sounds, handaxes are one weapon Dwarven Rogues aren't proficient with, but if it's an improvised weapon, that doesn't matter anyway.

I'm reminded of a character concept I played around with briefly before scrapping it: "Fiddler Crab" MacHeath, a Dwarf Rogue with the Swashbuckler Archetype (which gets a bonus martial weapon proficiency) who wielded a battleaxe or heavy pick in one hand, and a handaxe or light pick in the other.

Silver Crusade

Sticks and stones
Battle zones
A single light bulb
On a single thread for the black
Sirens wail
History fails
Rose-colored glass
Begins to age and crack
While the politicians shadowbox
The power ring
In an endless split decision
Never solve anything
From a neighbor's distant land
I heard the strain of the common man

Let it be me
(this is not a fighting song)
Let it be me
(not a wrong for a wrong)
Let it be me
If the world is night
Shine my life like a light

Well the world seems spent
And the president
Has no good idea
Of who the masses are
Well I'm one of them
And I'm among friends
We're trying to see beyond
The fences in our own backyards
I've seen the kingdoms blow
Like ashes in the winds of change
But the power of truth
Is the fuel for the flame
So the darker the ages get
There's a stronger beacon yet

Let it be me
(this is not a fighting song)
Let it be me
(not a wrong for a wrong)
Let it be me
If the world is night
Shine my life like a light

In the kind word you speak
In the turn of the cheek
When your vision stays clear
In the face of your fear
Then you see turning out a light switch
Is their only power
When we stand like spotlights
In a mighty tower
All for one and one for all
Then we sing the common call

Let it be me
(this is not a fighting song)
Let it be me
(not a wrong for a wrong)
Let it be me
If the world is night
Shine my life like a light

I feel your pain, Mikal. For what it's worth, here's a few things that might help:

A wise man's observations

some non-linear optimism

And in a similar vein

Instructions from a man who knew this could happen

Finally, a personal story: The day after Election Day 2004, I suffered a psychotic break that I STILL haven't recovered from. It was like everything I thought I knew about the country I believed in was wrong, and that I was trapped in a hostile environment and a doomed world. But something weird happened next, remember? The shock woke people up, made them rally, and the tables started turning. George W. Bush went from "Our Lord and Savior who shall not be questioned or challenged" to "the W stands for 'worst.'"

I'm still suffering.

I'm still scared - as a matter of fact, my family and I may well be moving to another country soon.

But WE are in the majority, and Trump can do nothing but make that more true.

If you wanted to remake yourself as a Bard, I for one would fully support that - were the DM to permit it. It's still so early in the game that I'd call it quite reasonable. If I'm not mistaken, you've barely even used your magic so far.

Maybe you could be of the Magician Archetype so you still had access to a few Sorcerer spells.

Just reflecting a bit, but: Cleric, Sorcerer, Magus, Rogue, Fighter, and Wizard. A little basic, but we've got a pretty solid party.

Having both a Sorcerer and a Wizard in one party is a little unusual, though. Gyorgy (and to a lesser extent Mikal), just a suggestion, but as Metal is my opposition element, any of the spells on this list would be good choices for you to pick up for that reason. I honestly don't know anything about what awaits us in this Adventure Path (aside from one infamous moral dilemma), but given what I know about Varisia and Runelords, some of those spells that screw around with Constructs might be wise selections.

By the way, what happened to the original Recruitment thread? I wouldn't mind being able to look it over for memory's sake.

Even the feeblest coup de grace attempt still demands they make a Fortitude save equal to 10+damage dealt, or they die. Surviving a coup de grace is not something to be expected, which is why the formalities of damage rolls and Fortitude saves are often forgone (at least in the case of most enemy NPCs).

I actually edited the original post but it made a double-post instead. I'm guessing that's what happens if you try to edit a die roll on the boards, never tried before.

No, actually, that isn't what happens. Once you order a die roll, it remembers the result(s) - and the sequence in which the results were rolled - and they stick there, even if you change the static modifier.

For example: 1d20 + 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + (2) + 5 = 9

If I change that 5 to a 9, the result will be a '13.' If I remove the 1d6, it will be a '7.' If I put the 1d6 back, that will still be a '2.' If I put a 1d20+1d4 roll above the above roll, then the now-below d20 roll will become a newly-rolled number, the roll above will be the '2,' and the 1d6 roll will be the same.
