Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector picks up a spear and moves quietly into position; pointing the spear ahead of him.

In game mechanics terms; readying an attack against the first boar to charge me.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

My god, the huge oaf ended up being quieter than me... ;)

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"I'll spear," Hector says.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Small town just north of Manchester, England.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector climbs onto the horse a little uncertainly, and notices the noble's attraction to the young barmaid. He doesn't say anything, but makes a mental note; something to bear in mind should it come in useful. His crossbow is in his hands as the group travels; best to be prepared for surprises these days...

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Replacing the vanished dot; harder to tell when there's new posts when the dots and (x new posts) disappear...

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"I'm ready whenever you are," Hector replies, mounting the horse. "I'll probably stand with a spear; I'm not much good on horseback for anything other than standard travelling."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Spears on foot, I'm guessing; with horses for transport. Otherwise I doubt our new friend would have brought spears with him," Hector points out.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Mornin' Mi'lord," Hector greets the noble with a nod of respect. "Pleasant journey, I hope?"

He is dressed in his studded leather, has a dagger sheathed at his hip and a crossbow slung over his back, and has a case of bolts in easy reach. "What are we hunting?"

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"It'd be a shame to disappoint her then," Hector says with a smile. "I'd have come around last night, except I was helping to put the fires out. I'm no hero though; don't go putting me on any pedestals, or you'll find yourself very disappointed..."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"That's certainly my intention; we need to know why they grouped together, if nothing else," Hector answers the blind priest.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector nods. "Aye; if nothing else I could do with a drink," he says drily. "Still, at some point I'd like to do something about those tribes that attacked us; while we sent the attackers running, if we let them think they got away with it they'll only come back with more friends."

Noticed that Hector has not posted in a while, is everything ok? He kinda missed the going to auntie's train, but he was in the area and could have easily joined us to get in on this conversation.

Sorry; had some trouble getting my internet working the past couple of days. Should be fine now. Hector might as well tag along with those headed to the auntie.

Hector has been fairly quiet since his encounter with the ageing owner of the bakery; more so than usual. He met up with the others who went to Niska's house, and while he greeted them politely enough, he's barely said two words since except when spoken to directly.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Thank you Alma," Hector replies with a smile as he accepts the loaf. "Don't worry, they feed me well enough - they just make sure I work it all off in the fields," he adds as his smile broadens.

He breaks off some of the bread and eats it. "This isn't bad. You know, if I didn't know better I'd say you did this for a living," he adds, his tone suggesting that he's simply joking.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector walks into town not long after dawn and heads towards the inn that the others have been staying at. It's a rare sight for him to be wearing armour and carrying a weapon, but this morning he's doing both.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector spends the evening helping where he can, and then heads to the small farm that he's been living in.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Three tribes? There's more to this than just goblins then; two tribes of goblins are as likely to kill each other as team up to attack a village like this one..." Hector says with a frown. "What's been damaged?"

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Thank you, Father," Hector says to Lejes before turning to the others. "Thank the gods they're dealt with. Still, it might be an idea to keep our eyes open in case it happens again - and for that matter, it might even be an idea to search the rest of the streets; just in case one of them decided he wasn't finished yet..."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector swears loudly as he takes a nasty cut across the chest that, if left to heal by itself, will probably leave an impressive scar. He then attempts a punch to the goblin's throat to finish it off.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector drops his looted bow, takes a step forward and tries to punch his attacker in the face. "You're all going to die for this," he says to the goblins in a tone far calmer than the expression on his face. "I won't stop there either: I'll kill your brothers, your sisters, your parents, your women and your children. I'll see your whole tribe exterminated, because I'm far more vicious than you could ever be, and you made the mistake of attacking my home."

Let's see if I can scare a few more of them away. It may be worth noting that by this point I'm probably covered in goblin blood from cutting that first goblin's throat...
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector stands close to Thanadros, and starts loosing his looted arrows at the mounted goblin.

Standing at D12. Not sure which type of bow it is, so I'll just roll to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector frowns and looks for a concealed place from which to loose some arrows.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector winces slightly as the bleeding from his arm slows, but doesn't stop completely.

"Thank you. We shouldn't linger: there's more to the north," he says to the near blind priest. He goes to one of the fallen goblins and picks up a bow and a quiver of arrows. He then sets off towards the north at a run.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector drops the goblin to the ground, and stamps on its head for good measure - just to be sure. He then keeps an eye out for more goblins, and an ear for more screams.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector attempts to keep his grip on the struggling goblin, tightening his hold until he hears something snap.

Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

edit: Forgot to add +5 for the last round, so that's 11 total.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector growls, tightening his grip in an attempt to squeeze the life out of the goblin he's holding.

Maintaining the grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector curses loudly as the arrow hits him in the arm carrying the dogslicer, causing him to drop it. He quickly moves around one of the tables and attempts to grab one of the goblins (I7) by the throat.

Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Edit: Also, I have improved grapple, so no Attack of Opportunity

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

I'm starting on G4. By the way, which ones are archers, and which are carrying dogslicers?

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

I'm fine either way.

Once the goblins are close enough, Hector stops and throws the severed head, trying to get it into their midst. "GUESS WHAT HAPPENS TO THE REST OF YOU!" he snarls.

Intimidate to try and scare the goblins into fleeing - and telling their friends that a second attempt may be a bad idea: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector nods, severs the head of the goblin he killed, then sets off in that direction at a run - carrying the head. Goblin blood is still dripping from his looted dog slicer, and the expression on his face is one of fury.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector curses under his breath.

"If they made it this far into the town, there's bound to be more causing trouble elsewhere. Let's see if we can't make this town a place the goblins fear..." he says to those no longer fighting. He then turns to the children. "Did you see which way they came from?"

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

I take it that means I didn't just take four damage? Unarmoured, because while I expected an attack OOCly, I reckoned my character wouldn't. Also, as it happens, I hadn't noticed the dice tags...

Hector takes advantage of the situation and picks up the dog slicer before trying to slice the throat of the goblin that attacked him.

I'm fairly sure it's just a move action to pick something up, so the attack rolls are as follows:

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Sneak Attack (again, if applicable): 1d6 ⇒ 4

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Unfortunately, Hector didn't expect to need armour today. On the other hand, his training in unarmed combat allows him to take advantage of openings that other's might not even notice, as he stamps on a goblin that's trying to crawl out from under the wagon.

"GET THE **** OUT OF MY TOWN!" he snarls at the rest, revealing a fairly violent side of his personality which has thus far remained hidden.

I thought that IC, my character wouldn't be wearing armour. Ah well. On the other hand, with my Improved Unarmed Combat, I can make Attacks of Opportunity while unarmed, and that is as follows:

Attack: 1d20+2=20
Damage: 1d3+2=5
Sneak Attack (if applicable): 1d6=2

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector's head whips around at the sound of screams, and spots the goblins almost immediately. He growls something unintelligible, gives off a cry of "GOBLINS!" and starts to walk over to the attackers, a look of fury on his face.

22 Perception (18 on the dice) and 4 Initiative (1 on the dice). I intend to walk over to the nearest goblin and grab it by the throat. I'm standing at F7

Hector looks to the stage, awaiting whatever the priest has to say. He takes a slow sip of his mead, and wonders to himself whether this has gone at least part way toward atoning for his many, many misdeeds.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"As much as he knows how to? That's not very reassuring," Hector replies with a slight chuckle.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"He's from out of town," Hector answers Lejes, before heading over to the mead stand with the blind priest. "I'll have a mead too, if you please," he requests of Aylmora.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"I'm Hector; a recent convert to Sarenrae," Hector replies. "I haven't frequented many shrines, I'm afraid, but I have helped with rebuilding the cathedral; I'm somewhat stronger than a look, and it's the least I can do to repay the welcome I've received."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

No worries; the filter automatically censors it ;)

"I certainly hope so," Hector says as he wanders over to where Lejes is stood. "It's a nice town; better than some I've lived in."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector has another flagon of mead, meanwhile conversing with the local priest of Sarenrae about various aspects of the faith.

I suspect you meant to type cants rather than something ruder...

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector finishes his food fairly quickly, but takes his time with the mead; taking the occasional sip as he listens to the speech.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Thanks, Aylmora," Hector replies, taking a sip of his mead. "Looks like it'll be a busy festival; I didn't realise you got crowds this big outside of the cities."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Fair enough; Hector would probably consider that a sign that you're wiser than most ;).

"I wasn't exactly a regular temple-goer before my arrival here, but even I used to attend on feast days or on special occasions," Hector says with a shrug, though those who have gotten to know him since his arrival will have noticed that he's actually been attending quite regularly. "You don't have to be the most devout man to show up for something like this."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"Hector; Hector Malson," Hector introduces himself. "Yourself?"

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Hector shakes the man's hand. "Ought to be an interesting festival; looks like there's a lot of visitors come to join in the party."

Noticing Quar's studying look, Hector simply gives Quar a nod of acknowledgement.

Incidentally, in case there was any confusion, I'm currently unarmed and unarmoured.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

"It's quite all right, Gornak; I'm sure you meant no offence," Hector says with a chuckle, walking up quietly to the small gathering. Hector is relatively new to the town, having lived here only six months, and has been earning his keep as a hand at one of the local farms, while helping to rebuild the cathedral during what time he's had spare. "Mornin' all," he adds belatedly.

He then turns to Thanadros. "Aye; apparently it burned down a few years back, and they've been rebuilding ever since."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

How recently was the rebuilt cathedral finished? If it was less than six months ago, Hector may have helped as well (14 strength is quite considerably above average, after all, and he is trying to become a better man).

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1

Pretty much done; just got to copy over my skills and feats and suchlike.

EDIT: Done. Also, ignore the Andoran symbol; for some reason, I couldn't create the character without assigning a faction.
