Round 1
HP 47/49
AC 17

"No surrender!"

Grutsnick also charges, striking at the other mudman.

Move to 10' away, strike.

Lucerne Hammer Charge PA AS: 1d20 + 10 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 - 2 = 241d12 + 7 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 6 + 1 = 20

Made a mistake on my HD when I created character, corrected now, I'm at 47/49.

Round 2
HP 53/55

Seeing the weapons of his enemies miss him or bounce off, Grutsnick steps away and swings at the insect that is harrying him.

5' to F18.

Magic Lucerne Hammer PA: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 141d12 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

Round 1
HP 53/55

Grutsnick attempts to hit one of the creatures as they move to attack him.

AoO against first insect. Thought I had a greatsword, my mistake.

Magic Lucerne Hammer PA: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 271d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 91d12 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

How I hate these gremlins.

Having completely missed the first, he steps over to hit one of the dog-face gremlins.

5' F17

Magic Lucerne Hammer PA: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 221d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d12 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23

"Pretty. Everybody watch your hands."

The hulking half-orc carries his greatsword at the ready.

Think I have this guy ready enough for a smashface session.

Sorry to hear that but thanks for the heads up. Could I ask that you mark the campaign inactive for my tracking purposes? I'll keep my eyes open if you decide to run anything else, I had a lot of fun in this campaign and with this group.

No problem man, I'm having a great time and hopefully everybody else is as well. Any particular areas that are giving you trouble?

hp 66/84

"I agree with Barker."

Grutsnick wipes the blood and offal let by the boggards and hydra off himself before sneaking into the compound behind Barker.

Stealth +8 -1 for Fatigue 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

hp 55/84

"Bah, lop the heads off me sweaty green..."

Should've just hit it instead of playing around with the heads.

Man 3.5 hydras were way beefier I guess.

"Alex you got any healing left? Thing had some bite."

No more surprise for us.

Thank you. We had a great wedding (BBQ and dancing, hard to go wrong there), and we're looking forward to a long live together.

Probably longer than Grutsnick in fact. AC 15, I may need to swap that torc back out for the amulet of natural armor. Or find a way to combine them. :D

DM Jonasty wrote:

You're post seems correct, sub the CMB numbers for your normal attack bonus but the damage would be the same. Also the Sunder Attempts will provoke as you don't have the feat, but somehow I'm guessing you're fine with that. ;-)

Yessir! Bring on the crits. :D

DM Jonasty wrote:

Is this flavor text or an actual attempt? Actual mechanics to do this is a Sunder attempt against a head rather than a normal attack. And doing this without the feat will provoke. Let me know.

Huh, I was not aware of the changed mechanic. I'll switch my attacks to Sunder attempts. It looks like a Sunder replaces a regular attack, so that would mean my 28 and 14 become a 25 and 17 (CMB is +11 which I assume replaces the +14 and +9?) for 18 and 22 damage respectively?

I will be getting married on Saturday, and as such my posting rate will drop slightly until Sunday evening. Feel free to DMPC me along if necessary. I know it's a bad time right in the middle of a fight but I think I posted out my round 1 already and Grutsnick isn't the most complicated soul in combat.

Crit confirm 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 282d12 + 37 ⇒ (12, 4) + 37 = 53
So assuming a 28 hits a flat-footed Boggard that's 81 total damage. Due to the Killer trait I do +3 on the crit damage, thus +37 instead of +34.

"Well Alexander's spell changes everything. I'll sneak as close as I can, then charge while you shoot the others down."

Stealth 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Grutsnick crouches next to Barker, whispering to relay his idea on "strategy".

"What do you think Barker? Charge and kill them, or shoot them from range?"

"I like the torc, I'll use it if nobody minds. Soon as Barker is ready we should continue. Do we have any traps we can set here for the next boggards that come this way?"

Hey, I could get a cramp or something, you never know! :P

Nope, line 2 of the swimming notes.

Bah, reading comprehension fail!

Grutsnick will shuck his pack and greataxe, drawing his kukri before preparing to dive into the water.

"I'll take a look."

Swim Checks:

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 131d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 261d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 141d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 231d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 271d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 251d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 231d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Waiting until I'm not fatigued, I will dive to the bottom and search for anything I can find. With Darkvision I should be able to see, but if I find that I cannot I will immediately swim to the surface and prepare for an attack.

"I'm tired of all this water, dry land will be a nice change."

"Bah, you did fine Lorelei, that spell yesterday was quick thinkin', probably saved us all. Always speak your mind with me, you've earned my trust."

HP 72/84 by my count yeah?

"Everybody rested? Good. Barker, we gonna take out more patrols or go right to the nest? They'll be alert now."

Kill patrols while we scout the area?

"I say we scout the area some more and take out whatever patrols we find."

"Thanks Alex. One more of those and I'm good. I think Barker is hurt pretty bad, don't let his stories fool you."

Grutsnick scans for any other lurkers as well as a likely building to camp.

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

"More boggards in the ruins, maybe a patrol or two during the night, do we have any traps to guard the camp? Keep the fire low and concealed. "

We'll need healing before going farther. Maybe scout?

"Hah!" *huff* *huff* "That was bracing!"

After taking a few moments to catch his breath, Grutsnick will check over his injuries before turning to the others.

Should be 50/84 for my HP now right?

"Any idea what they were protecting? Or were they just hunting?"

The issue is not the reloading of the crossbow but the fact that he's firing a ranged weapon in melee. There's no mention in the post of him moving away and if he is, because of the difficult terrain he can't 5-foot step which means he couldn't full attack. That's my confusion, is there something he has that prevents AoO's for firing a ranged weapon in melee?

Oooh good point, didn't read it correctly.

Crossbow Mastery:

Benefit: The time required for you to reload any type of crossbow is reduced to a free action, regardless of the type of crossbow used. You can fire a crossbow as many times in a full attack action as you could attack if you were using a bow. Reloading a crossbow for the type of crossbow you chose when you took Rapid Reload no longer provokes attacks of opportunity.

Grutsnick prepares to catch Lorelei before she begins floating to the ground.

"Well that wouldn't my first choice for going down the cliff, but I suppose it saves time eh?"

Neat trick, I should learn that one.

"Anybody got another 50 feet of rope? I have 50 and can make the climb easily, then hold the bottom steady for the rest of you. Lorelei can you fly down?"

Climb skill is +11, take 10 isn't enough for me to climb it without a rope and I don't have climbing gear that grants any bonus.

Grutsnick peers over the edge carefully and looks for likely handholds, willing to freeform it if necessary but clearly not relishing the idea.

I can heal myself once a day for 1d8+2, but I have to be raging, which seems silly in a non-combat situation but I could get angry enough to feel better I suppose. I will rely on the goodwill of our divine casters for any additional healing I require rather than that.

Grutsnick nods the next day as the researchers reveal their results.

"See, road signs."

Not sure what took them so long, just needed an arrow pointing the way.

"I can't make out these writings. I'll help set up camp and check the area while the rest of you puzzle it out. I assume we're heading on towards the temple in the morning. Maybe this is some ancient road sign."

Grutsnick nods as his wounds close.

"Thank you Alexander."

This was a fine test, and we did well. I am surprised.

"I assume we'll need to leave the canoes here now."

Will save 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Grutsnick ends his rage when he sees no more opponents on the field. His breathe comes in heaving gasps for a short while and then he leans heavily on his axe. His skin is peppered with small wounds but he looks amazingly healthy for the amount of damage you saw thrown his way.

"Why were you all beating on that tree anyway? Did anybody see where that last stick man went, I want to talk to it."

Failed the will save again, although I assume with it dead it can be pointed out to me that it's actually a semi-sentient tree.
