Gritz does his best to try and clean himself up, but his idea is more to replace the dead flowers on his armor with new, fresh ones. Much as he wanted to see the theater, it sounded like a very fancy and pretty place... and not the kind for a lowly little goblin like himself. He'd be better served looking out for any remaining trouble in town. Other goblins might still be up to their tricks. Seeing Matt limp the way he did, Gritz plucked a particularly fresh flower from his armor, before crushing it and scattering the petals over him, positive energy flowing through him. "Gritz help! Fuzzy Books Matt feel better now?" he asked. "Shiny Trinkets Jess look very pretty! You have good time at show! Gritz wish Gritz could go! But Gritz must look out for trouble!"

I am sooooooooo sorry for going dark like that, everyone. I did not mean to, but the circumstances were... extenuating.
Baby sis just falls out of nowhere and clonks he head, but good. Baby sis has coumadin (blood thinner), so we take her immediately to the ER because, you know, thin blood +head trauma = bad sh*t. We suspect it might have been a seizure. Doctors at the ER go "Naaaaaah, it's probably fine, just send her back home for some bed rest!" and discharge her. Her doctors in Philly catch wind of this, call up her local doctors, and rightly go "WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL DID YOU DO!? GET HER IN A HOSPITAL NOW!!!" Baby sis is hospitalized for a few days, while they scramble to figure out what's wrong with her without admitting they royally screwed up. And denying any and all possibility that it could've been a seizure like we suspected. And then, two of my coworkers just kinda up and vanished for half the week, leaving me to handle a good deal of work that would normally be covered by three people all by myself... So... that's the whole affair in a very brief nutshell. And I sincerely apologize for going dark like that. I really hate to do that, especially without any kind of warning, but, as you can no doubt guess... that was just a little terrifying. I should be back in action.

Gritz's ears flattened sideways when Drax denies his request. To be fair, he wasn't sure how well he could make a rainbow. Keeping quiet a bit longer as Drax helped Matt up to his feet, Gritz tried to think of a way to pass the time a bit, as well as help achieve his goal between Shae and Lord Foxglove. He was soooooo close! He could finally do something to really make Lady Shelly proud! After a moment so silence, he started humming a bit, a catchy little tune he'd been working on. He liked the rhythm... and Lady Shelly liked music! His humming grew a bit louder, before finally actually breaking into lyrics. Scratchy, high pitched, and more than a few bad notes, but he's definitely trying. "Power of love is a very odd thing.
No need money!
Is the power of love!" I'm ready to go! I just couldn't resist.

Ride: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Gritz will likely keep his distance slightly so he can try to coax Aldern to talk with Shae as much as possible. Though he'll do his best to keep within earshot. Likely never mind then 10-15 feet away. Gritz does an adequete job of at least trying to indicate his intent to his "stead", though Drax is doubtlessly pleased with the arrangement. For the most part, knowing the dragon was clearly tied to Hollie, he lets the beast lead, with Gubby trailing alongside, sniffing at the ground. The fact the noble isn't starting a conversation with him doesn't bother Gritz. In fact, he prefer he focus his attention elsewhere. Like Shae. His buggy eyes dart up through the trees in particular, eyeing trees that look like they have flowers in bloom, or where rays of light shine through the branches. He recalled a page in his picture book that rainbows followed showers with sunlight. Shiny colors... Gritz liked those. Leaning forward, he patted Drax on the neck and lowered his voice. "Scary Drax help Gritz? Scary Drax move ahead, Gritz have idea!" Gritz blinked as he looked back and saw Matt fall off his pony! Wincing, Gritz patted Drax again. "But first help Fuzzy Matt?"

Gritz continued to hide behind the barrel, eyes darting around and catching sight of a sign up top showing him getting squashed by a dreaded horse! The more of this he saw, the worse it got. Perhaps he should just find a nice place in town and... stay there. However, when the big dragon ambles over and orders him on, he wasn't entirely convinced this was a much better idea. Being stepped on, or being eaten... this whole "agent of love and romance" business was a lot harder than it sounded! Cautiously approaching Drax, Gritz slowly put a leg up and scrambled to the top, quietly wishing Gubby was bigger. Then he could just ride him! Looking over to see Matthias was equally uncomfortable on his own ride put him slightly at ease... at least he wasn't alone in his discomfort. Calling for Gubby to follow alongside, Gritz nodded, just waiting to move... and trying to figure out what he was going to hold onto at higher speeds.

Gritz notices the increase in men along the checkpoint. He couldn't blame them... but to be fair, these men here wouldn't really help. If goblins were going to come back to town, they wouldn't be using these roads. They'd just sneak in from somewhere.. like the cliff. Heck, they obviously used a ladder at the cemetery! "Longshanks look at cliffs too! Near junk. That's where goblins climb up!" he offered. The Scary Chains Guy probably gave them orders, but he thought he'd help, if he could. As they passed one of the houses, Gritz heard the dog bark, which immediately made him jump, and set Gubby on edge, both turning towards the house with the dog and tensing up. Gritz was okay with humans... but dogs and horses still freaked the hell out of him. After a moment of panic, Gritz pets Gubby to calm him down and usher him along after the others. Not that it was any better when they got to the stable. More dogs! And *GASP* NOT HORSES!!! If there was one thing Gritz feared more than dogs, it was the dreaded horses! Rightfully so, as those creatures had a tendency to step on goblins! While the others carouse with the noble and caretakers, Gritz rightly hid beside a nearby barrel, terrified to come out. Maybe... maybe he should sit this one out...

Gritz nods as the others opt to call off the hunt, before Shaedeen mentions hunting the boars. RIGHT! He had to try and make romance and stuff happen! "Gritz trust Gubby! He best goblin dog! Who is good boy? Gubby is!" Gubby continues to sniff along, though at some point, he seems to just stop, unsure of how to proceed. Gritz kneels down, trying to assess if there is anything to actually find. Sadly, he's at a bit of a loss, but after a moment, Gubby seems to pick something up again, growling and following after the scent he's got...

Gritz's ears droop a little as the halfling orders him to take Gubby outside. But, not wanting to cause any ruckus, he does so, ordering Gubby to follow him along outside and ordering him to sit underneath the window. "Gritz be back. Gubby be good until then!" Returning back inside, the goblin came in just at the tail end of the conversation, hearing about the tracks. His buggy eyes swing back and forth a bit, his little mind trying to rack up a way to make this happen. He had a duty to do so! "...do the tracks lead to the boars? We not even find anything yesterday, and she scared... what happen if we do?" A genuine concern to his tone, to be sure. Weak links were not desirable... and Hollie was pretty, and Gritz's mission was to protect the pretty things of the world.

Gritz is a little slow to rouse in the morning. Truth be told, he'd never expended so much energy channeling the divine might of his patron, so it took quite a bit out of him. By the time Jess returns, Gritz is finally up and ready to go, polishing his glaive meticulously with a dirty rag (the cleanliness doesn't seem to be taking, despite his best efforts). One day, he'd get it looking like the treasured weapon it deserved to be! When Gritz heads outside, he bundles up his bulbous head with the cloak, nodding graciously to Jess for her concern, before whistled. Through the nearby bushes and thickets, Gubby emerges, having obviously caught his breakfast himself, judging by the small rat in his maw. Wolfing the meal down, Gubby follows along obediently, with Gritz in turn following Jess obediently. She knew the routes around the longshank town better than he did... best to follow her example. Entering the store, the sight is an oddity for Gritz. It reminded him of Gugmert's horde... except he didn't like sharing. But this was a fascinating concept. You take your shinies and exchange them for... other shinies? So, perhaps, he should collect shinies he has no need of and use them to trade for other things? That made some practical sense, he guessed. While Jess did her shopping, Gritz simply browsed through the other items on display, curious as to what was available.

Gritz nods and bows politely to the human, before ushering Gubby along to the back yard. Finding a nice place by a pile of wood, Gritz grabbed some sticks and made a simple thatch covering for the goblin dog, issuing a few gruff goblin words as the little rat dog curls up underneath the construction and settles in. Judging from how fast he closes his eyes, Gubby seems utterly unfazed by his homely conditions. Following Jes upstairs, he listens, tilting his head in utter confusion at the implications. Clearly, it's flying right over his head. But given the state of his armor (and himself) and not wanting to ruin her current set up, Gritz instead takes the pillow, the blanket, and stuffs them under the bedding, before squeezing himself underneath and talking from it as he settles in himself. Goblin: "If it is all the same to you, Shinies Lady Jess, I will gladly stay under the bed. It's darker, and safer. I will try to stay quiet. Thank you again for sticking up for me today. The Endless Sky asks us to see within, not without, for someone's true worth... I am grateful she has blessed you and the others with such sight, and me for having something of value to see. Depending on the outcome of this roll, might be using that Inspired trait for the day... not a bad use for it though! Gritz remains silent, Gubby at his side and scratching at his head as Jess tries to explain things. But, clearly, she's having a bit of trouble. This was her... chief? No, what was the word... teacher? Close enough. It would be like challenging the chief on a matter. HE had the final say. His little brain flashed back to a picture he recalled seeing in his book. A brave knight standing resolutely, but reverently before a fairy queen, bowing gracefully. 'Resolution and grace must go hand in hand.' That's what he got from that image, anyways. Stamping his glaive into the ground, Gritz stepped forward, bowing with a bit less enthusiasm than his earlier bows. He had to mimic that knight... or at least fake it. "Please not be upset with Shinies Lady Jes. Gritz is Gritz of Treestrider tribe. Shinies Lady Jes say that Gritz and Gubby may stay in old place. It nice for Gritz, Gritz sleep anywhere! Except in water... too wet. But Gritz not want Shinies Lady Jes to get in trouble. Gritz go elsewhere, if it helps. Gritz just stared between the exchange between Hollie and the others, tilting his head as he was utterly lost on the significance of any of this. Then again, goblins grow up veeeeeeeeery differently from longshanks. Or even Matt's kind. But this shaking from Hollie had him concerned... they didn't even find anything! What was going to happen to her if they DID find something? Perhaps she would be better served not going with them... When Jes mentions that she had a place for him and Gubby to stay, he smiled and bowed his usual nearly-smacking-the-floor-with-his-head bow. Goblin: "I am most grateful. I imagine that my fellow goblins have not instilled much confidence in the humans about my intent. Any help you can offer would be appreciated, and I will do my best to return the effort. "Gritz can follow... and Gubby good sniffer! He follow too!" Gritz exclaimed, pointing at Gubby, who yawned and laid down on the ground next to the goblin, clearly not too thrilled at the prospect. However, Hollie's state seemed... unfit for travel at the moment. She was clearly in something of a stupor about this whole affair... goblins didn't know too much about teamwork, but the concept of a weak link was not lost on them. "But... erm... Gritz not think we should. Dragon Hollie not very good. Gritz think she need rest. If Gritz follow... Dragon Hollie not come." As Jess spoke, Gritz nodded. Gritz jumped up and down, clearly excited that his vague theory was correct! "Gritz knew it! See big foots here? It belong to longshank! Which mean... 'leader' is longshank!" He paused in his celebration, tilting his head slowly to one side, utterly confused now. "...why?" As he focused on the cloth, Gritz could see magic coming off of it... but he wasn't sure what the magic was. He'd never had any kind of training for it, so... he just didn't know. "It magic clothes!" he proclaimed, at least proud that he could say that much. "Little magic... but it magic! Maybe it why the scary bones were here?"

Gritz followed the various tracks around the cemetary, trying to get a sense of where they went when, letting Gubby lead the way as it snorted the ground around him. He was curious about the sarcophagus itself... why take a bunch of old bones? He wracked his brain for a bit, thinking on why they would want them... and after a moment of being stumped, a thought occurred to him. "Goblins not want old bones... 'leaders' want. Goblins only want bones for two things: food or weapons to get food. Old bones not have meat, and bones easy to get from animals and junk. If goblins not want bones... 'leaders' do." It seemed reasonable! If he could think of a reason to take the remains, why would other goblins need it? Unless... whoever took it wasn't a goblin! Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Gritz chases up after Hollie, panting as he catches up with her before looking at the ajar door, then up at Hollie as she stares at the tomb, considering Matthias' words. Parents mean very little to goblins, as the tribe usually raises them as a bunch (in cages), so individual caretakers don't mean much to him. But he grasped that this fellow, whatever a father was, was important to her. And it was his fellow goblins who caused her this grief. Turning and bowing, Gritz looked back up at Hollie. "Pretty Lady Hall-ee, Gritz is sorry other goblins do this. Let Gritz go first. Gritz is goblin too, he should be first to clean up messes of other goblins." Although Gritz didn't grasp the connection, he knew it was important to her, and he felt it only polite to ask first before just stalking inside. Gritz followed along, puzzling the interactions between the others. As the resident... non-resident of this group, he felt it prudent to remain quiet until an area of his expertise came up... which mostly pertained to swamps, trees, pretty things, goblins, or goblin dogs. Gubby just trailed lazily behind, clearly not bothered by the whole affair. But when they got to the tomb, Gritz had to admit... he was stumped! Why would goblins want a bunch of old bones and things? It's not even good for food... and that's coming from a goblin! The wheels in his head turned, trying to riddle out why his fellow goblins would want a bunch of bones... and the truth was, they wouldn't! Not to his knowledge, anyways! But an idea suddenly clicked in his mind... these enigmatic "leaders" the goblins spoke of... they were the only other factor that could change things! ...so what did THEY want with the crypt? Until the next one, and that will be the bestest words ever too!" he exclaims, clearly happy for Hollie's efforts on Shelyn's behalf. Even if his standard for producing a great speech is simply that you spoke it... but at least he means well. "Treestriders were Toadlick tribe goblins... but we not like water. We find trees to sleep in! Much dryer, and less snakes!" Evidently, Gritz's standards for livable conditions are... low. "Treestriders might not have been in attack... Chief Gutwad laugh at us for not liking water, so we not talk to him much. He stupid anyway!"

"Gritz didn't know. Gritz just know goblins like to break parties. And when the longshanks finished the Pretty House, Gritz heard longshanks talk about a big party! Gritz isn't sure if other Treestrider goblins were involved... Gritz hasn't been back in a while." The goblin's ears fold down in concern as he grips his weapon to his shoulder. "Gritz is... worried, though. Other goblin say 'leaders' said to attack... but should only be one leader. Chiefs not work well together. Too much sharing. But Gritz doesn't know who 'leaders' are... that worry Gritz."

Gritz follows quietly along, patting his leg for Gubby to tag along closely. Once inside, he remains silent, listening to the longshanks speak before being addressed. OH! He remembered seeing this one before too, while he was getting food out of the Fatman's Feedbag's trash! He recalled him pulling another longshank along in chains around his hands... and he was scary! "Hello again, Mr. Scary Big Chains Guy!" Gritz said, bowing his usual overly deep bow before speaking again. "Gritz is Gritz, of Treestrider goblins! We like Licktoad tribe, but we hate water, so we go find trees to live in! Gritz saw longshanks were building the Pretty House for the Pretty Lady in the Sky. And then longshanks have party... Gritz know goblins like to break parties. But this party was for the Pretty House, and Gritz had to protect it!" He reached down to pat Gubby on the head, who seemed utterly indifferent to the whole affair. "And this Gubby. Prettiest goblin dog in the world. The Pretty Lady in the Sky gave Gritz the Pretty Picture Book he found in the junk by the water, and it have Gritz and Gubby on it! She rule over all things pretty and nice and love. She told Gritz to make pretty things! ...but Gritz not very good at it... he not good at anything other than fighting... but then, Pretty Lady Shelly showed Gritz that he can fight to protect the pretty shinies!" He held up his rusty little glaive proudly, showing it off. It WAS well made, if a little dirty. Certainly nothing a goblin could've made by himself. "The Pretty Lady has one like this, but it has souls in it! It ate them! But Gritz is on Great Quest of Goodness to free one from it! But Gritz can't leave now... evil coming..."

Gritz' ears folded down in a bit of defeat at the goblin's reply. He knew that was probably going to be the response he got... but he was still hoping it would help a bit, being a fellow goblin. The longshanks would not trust him, and his fellow goblins would hate him... the road he walked would be long and lonely... but not as lonely as he feared. The others seemed willing to vouch for him, and that gave him hope. About willing to give up his questioning, Gritz paused, before turning back to the captured goblin and giving him a firm expression. Goblin:
"I have one more question: have you seen any other goblins with a book of pictures? It is full of the most beautiful images ever... have any other goblins found it?" He held very little hope that he'd get an answer to this, much less an affirmative one. Goblins hated books... and perhaps the one he'd found was only meant to be seen by him. But maybe if he had that book, showing the other goblins what he was talking about would be much easier. He'd let the others speak with the guards... Hollie in particular seemed very persuasive, though he was grateful for Jess and Matt for also sticking up for him. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Hey.... where did Shaedeen go? Wasn't she here just a moment ago?

As the other goblin struggles and hisses out curses and swears, Gritz does his best to shush him every so often. He was really not helping his case... As Gritz listens to the others speak, Gubby growls lightly, clearly nervous at having so many large creatures looking none-to-friendly at them. It's not until Gritz reaches down to pat his head that he calms down and sits quietly next to his master. "It okay. Gritz know he makes the other longshanks nervous, and other goblins not like him after he try to protect the Pretty House... if it make other longshanks feel safe, Gritz go in cage. Gritz has nowhere to stay anyways. Gritz only ask he keep his pretty weapon. Pretty Lady Shelly ask him to protect it. It very special! And Gubby. Gubby get scared without Gritz." Even so, he had a few questions for the other goblin with them. Turning, he planted his glaive into the ground and looked at him sternly. He wanted a few answers, if he could get them... perhaps, now that they had him captivity, he'd be more willing to answer. Goblin: "Listen... you need to tell me what you know. Who are the leaders for this attack? It can't be the chiefs... they don't like working together. But one of the goblins said that the 'leaders' told you to attack. Who are they?"
"...look, it's important. Something evil is coming. I can feel it. I saw it from one of the hills by the town. A dark mist... even in the bright sun, it looked black as night. It swallowed the town whole... and if it's not stopped, I fear it will spread to everything. Including the other goblin tribes. You have to tell me what you know."

Matt beat me by literal seconds! Gritz just follows along, ordering Gubby to stay close... though to anybody who threatens him or Gubby, he just plucks one of the fresher flowers off his armor and offers it as a sign of peace, along with a big smile. Matthias' offered cloak is taken gratefully, though as he puts the hood on his head and fails to set his arms in any sort of sleeves, it's very clear he doesn't grasp what the point of it is.

"Gritz has the magic from the Pretty Lady! Not need the drinks." Gritz said proudly, thumping his chest, but taking a good look at the polearm, heaving it up and investigating it. "...yes! Gritz shall take the pretty weapon! Gritz shall collect them!" he declared, clearly happy with his new acquisition and professed new hobby. It seemed appropriate to him, at least... he'd already rescued one weapon, so why not another? And seeing that the shortbow was his size two, he opted to grab it for himself as well! Not as pretty, in his opinion... but who was he to judge? Gritz will go ahead and take the polearm and the bow and arrows if nobody else claims them... though I'll hold off on the bow definitively in case Jess might like it.

Fritz kept looking around, as if expecting something to show up any moment... and a couple of times, he stood on his tip toes to get a better look over the wall and out of town. He was on a hill... maybe he could see it from here! But when the others mentioned they wanted to inspect what was left of the goblin leader, Gritz pounded his pole into the ground a couple times, catching Gubby's attention. "Gub Gub! Come! The little goblin dog seemed reluctant at first to abandon his prize, but a couple more thumps from his master made him tear a hunk off and trot to the goblin's side to finish his meal in peace.

Gritz sucked in some much needed air, almost regretting it as his sides hurt... but not as bad as when he was knocked out! Was he... out? Asleep? It was hard to tell, precisely... his bug eyes dart about as if expecting to see something horrible, only to find... nothing? Reaching for his polearm and planting the handle to pull himself to his feet, he seems almost... dazed. Or ponderous. It's hard to say. He keeps twisting his head as if expecting to see something, but nothing comes... aside from a greeting from Evil Books Fuzzy Guy. "Math-y-iss... Math-yass... Ma...thigh...is... Matthias" Obviously, he's having a bit of trouble actually speaking it, but he gets it after a couple attempts of sounding it out. "Gritz... Gritz is Gritz, was from Licktoad goblins, but not like water, so Gritz and others make Treestrider goblin tribe." Gubby's chewing caught his attention, realizing it was the goblin leader from before. He bowed his head, shaking it. "Gritz try to stop fight... but other goblins not listen... Gritz try..." He turned to Father Zantus, guessing he must've used magic like he did to bring him back. He bowed, nearly hitting his head on the ground, before straightening back up. "Gritz is thankful. The Pretty House for Lady Shelly is safe now, yes?" he asked, before his eyes glazed over, recalling his... dream? It still stood... but for how long? As Father Zantus thanked them, Gritz stamped his glaive into the ground, nodding back. "And may the Pretty Lady Shelly bring you to shiny treasures." he replied, evidently attempting to mimic Zantus' blessing. After a moment, he glances around again, before bowing to the others. "Thank you for helping Gritz. Gritz knows longshanks not like goblins much... but Gritz had to protect the Pretty House. He not let the shinies break!"

Gritz doesn't put up much of a struggle. He can't, honestly. And Gubby doesn't seem too concerned, still chewing on the leg of the goblin leader from earlier. He does seem to pause once in a while and tilt his snout in his master's direction... but goes right back to his meal.

Gritz is still knocked out. Hopefully he's having a nice dream about delicious scraps, singing songs, and helping to plant trees that don't need to be sunk into the water to survive. Gubby is very clearly holding onto his prize, digging his claws into the dirt and making scrap marks as Drax tries to move his meal. He just has his teeth sunk into them, and he is not letting no stupid dragon take his rightfully earned prize away!

Shaedeen pulls off another feat of common medical acumen and good sense. Gritz's breathing stabilizes as she finishes. Also luckily for her, Gubby seems much more content to chew on his newest meal of goblin leader than care too much about what some tall woman is doing to his master. Whether this is a good or bad thing is up for debate.

Fritz doesn't offer much resistance as he gets dragged away... though he does leave a pretty long puddle of blood in his wake. Stabilize: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Hubby, however, seems more occupied with continuing his assault on the now dead goblin... more as a rewarding meal for his hard work than any other reason.

Gritz snarled at the retaliation... but not for long, as the slash goes right across his little chest, piercing his armor and sending him sprawling to the ground. All he can wheeze out is "For the... Pretty Lady... in the Sky..." before falling unconscious. Gubby, however, snarls and yaps angrily at the mounted goblin for harming his master, pouncing forward and picking a fight with the goblin dog mount. Gritz is out and dying at -3... he'll try to stabilize, but I think at this point, Gubby will just start fighting with the other goblin dog on instinct.
