I'm fine with storytelling. I didn't expect to pick more than a few off anyway. Getting them to expend some of their resources is a bonus. We'll collect those caltrops and bear traps and make it tougher for them next time.

Sounds like a plan. In that case, I will post the Ubagub action that would have transpired at the same time Gorruum was getting his halberd and kicked for it.

Ubagub lumbers past Fharn and tramples his way into the woods to the south, pushing past the shrubbery and trees until he spots the kobold that Fharn and Luminia pointed out. Entering bloodrage at the sight of the ambusher, the slurk heads straight toward the kobold intending to knock it down.
Overrun: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23
If successful...
AoO for knocking kobold prone: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Damage: 3d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) + 8 = 21
If overrun was successful, the kobold is also entangled by Ubagub's slime.
Note that this action will provoke from the second kobold (due to movement), but not the first (due to Improved Overrun). Even if some squares are considered difficult terrain, Ubagub should be able to complete the maneuver, but if all squares are difficult (or if he fails on the overrun), he will stop right in front of the first kobold. Location on the map right now is based on where he'll be if he fails the overrun. He'll be on the opposite side if successful.

Gorruum tries to get his halberd and crawl away from the kicking horse while avoiding any hooves. Unfortunately, he catches two kicks to his shoulder and hip while getting away with the weapon.

Gorruum is in favor of continuing combat. Mostly because this is two times now that the kobolds have hit us and it appears there will be more to come. That said, its going to be tough for us to pick off more than one or two and maybe not even that. And, its not without risk. But, I'd vote yes as long as Fharn can help us find them.

Woken by the horses screaming and then one trampling right over him, Gorruum gets to his feet. He looks around for any sign of the ambushers, but doesn't see any. He does however see Fharn and points at him. "Ubagub! Help Fharn!" The slurk lumbers to its feet and rumbles across the forest over to Fharn. Gorruum grabs his halberd.
Move and a move for both Gorruum and Ubagub.

I think defensively, it might make sense to bring Ubagub in a little tighter. Basically between him and the horses, it forces someone to shoot or go through them to get to where the sleeping folks are. If you did want more space, you can move him back.

Once Gorruum has found a suitable campsite, he sets about looking for herb, leaves, moss and other materials to help care for Anastacia further. "If want to save magic tomorrow, Gorruum care for Ana...Anasta...cia tonight. Maybe not watch though, but Ubagub watch."
If you guys want to count on the lesser restos that's fine, but if we can hit a DC 15 for long term care, Gorruum can help her recover 3 ability score points in 8 hours or 6 in a full day. However, while I think the rules are silent on the topic, keeping watch and performing long term care may be incompatible. I can also probably provide a +2 to Perception checks while awake due to Terrain bond.

If we can find a safe place to hole up and Gorruum can get some assistance, he can help Anastacia recover 3 ability score points in 8 hours of rest or 6 ability score points in a full day of rest.

Should probably get a feel for the local terrain. I'm guessing not swamps and that it is either plains for forested. The latter is a favored terrain so Gorruum can grant a +2 to allies within sight on Stealth and Survival and we leave no trail ourselves. OOTO if its plains, we're out of luck.

Gorruum seriously weighs disobeying orders and riding around the ridge to the north to fall upon the kobolds from behind, but obeys Wilhelm's order to turn back. He casts a wistful look at a gap to the north before wheeling Ubagub in the direction of the rest of the retreat.

Gorruum gives Ubagub a squeeze of his legs that directs the slurk to the west.
I think Ubagub can take the long way around the ridge to the west, assuming he can move through the vegetation or trees. Let me know if it is possible and/or if I should treat as difficult terrain and I guess the same question about the ridge itself which he may be able to go up with his climb speed.

Gorruum makes an odd burbling sound that might be some sort of the laugh, "Frogman. Like frogman. Wilhelm right. Frogman Gorruum. Not sure how Gorruum chopped hoom's egg, but Gorruum steer." Gorruum goes hopping into the water once again to help steer the wagon. Showing off, he nearly gets caught by an unexpected eddy, but recovers to make it to the wagon once again.
