Thinking back on it a bit, and considering Alexandre's retort, Gbagbe continues his musings, "And to be fair, I guess I was the first one to actually hurt either of them in this fight..."

Not meaning to annoy anyone (and hoping the annoyance is just in character), it just occurred to me after the fight started that the Shoanti might get upset with us if we destroy their guardian. We've already finished off one, and I'm not sure we can undo the damage done - though I suppose we could try to zip past the thing and out the door, assuming it doesn't have Combat Reflexes. Or we carry on.

As the guardian dog falls, Gbagbe steps next to it, and can’t help but wonder aloud, ”I just remembered something, why we are here! Does it seem strange to anyone else that we’re here to restore this tomb to its undamaged state, yet we’re trying to destroy the guardians of the tomb?“

Gbagbe, still unsure how to hurt the bone golem, focuses his attention - and a bit of alarm - on the lightning dog that has suddenly arrived at his side. He squeezes himself against the wall away from the golem's reach as much as he can, then flings two more bolts of force at the tricksy dog!

Cast magic missile defensively at dog. 4/7 level 1 spells used today.

Concentration to cast defensively, DC 17: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Magic missile damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8

If that takes the dog out, Gbagbe will 5-foot step into the dog's space.

DM - did we learn anything about the lightning dog from Eddard’s knowledge check above? He got a 23. As always, I’m curious to know if it’s affected by mind-affecting spells.

Fascinated by the bizarre way that the lightning dog gets upright, Gbagbe says, ”Wow, that was cool! Let’s see that again!“ He sends another brace of force bolts at the creature!

But the lightning dog hasn’t acted yet, so it’s flat-footed regardless of whether it is prone or not, right? Unless it has other abilities, like being as fast as lightning, that keep it from being flat-footed (or flat-pawed, I guess)

Questions about the bone golem: defenses/resistances and special attacks. Since I kind of know what I'll get there, I'll take a chance on the other target.

Gbagbe shakes his head in mild irritation, realizing he won't be able to do much to the big, bony creature. Turning his attention to the lightning dog, he sends a trio of force bolts at it!

Cast toppling magic missile at doggo.

When the lightning dog and the bone creature appear, Gbagbe rolls his eyes, muttering, ”I don’t usually say I told you so, because I rarely remember what I’ve told anyone, but in this case...“ He scrambles away from the new foes, trying to recall if he knows anything about such creatures.

Will take a move action to move one square up and two squares right on the map (can’t move token right now), and make Knowledge checks on both creatures (all Knowledge skills have same bonus). My standard action will depend on what I learn. I’m especially interested to know if either creature is affected by mind-affecting spells.

"Hmmm," Gbagbe says, wondering if they've missed something as his big eyes scan the newly-repaired maze chamber. "There's stuff in here we didn't see, right?" he asks his companions, waving Simset's notes. "The lightning dogs in this room, the bone creature he mentions? Did we find those things and I just don't remember? I'm not saying I want us to fight lightning dogs, that doesn't sound good at all - but there might still be surprises waiting for us, is all."

In spite of his misgivings, he follows the others back towards the entrance.

Magic stone in hand, Gbagbe consults with Eddard and Bulgulp about where it's safe to be and where the ceiling is unstable. Using his natural climbing ability, the trippy little grippli scales the wall and touches the stone gently to the ceiling, repairing the damaged portions. When this work is done, he calls down to his companions and says, "I think it's safe for us to pass now - and maybe for the Shoanti to eventually forgive the Society for the damage here."

Take 10 on Climb to skimble about with the Scavenger's Stone.

Edit: should have looked at the map first - Gbagbe is happy to do the repair work with the stone, but will probably not go chasing into the maze by himself. So my actions above presume we're going in together, as we usually would.

Sorry to not keep up with the flurry of posting, I've been on the road.

Once the sarcophagus and skeleton are repaired, Gbagbe sits and savors the feeling of peace and harmony for a long moment. When he opens his eyes, he sees his companions have all moved on! He hurries to catch up with his companions, only to find them returning to the round room - confused, he joins them as they prepare to venture through the next door.

Gbagbe follows his Pathfinder buddies down the hall, consulting Simset's notes as he walks and telling the others what they say, "The notes for this next room say 'Big round room - almost fell into the pit. Took ring from skeleton but knocked everything into the pit." He considers a moment, then adds, "So look out for skeletons. And a pit."

Gbagbe nods along as Alexandre studies the reckless Pathfinder's notes and their companions silently gaze about the room. "Sounds good to me," he says in reply to the swashbuckling kitsune's analysis, turning to join the others as they head back the way they've come.

When they reach the room with the pool in it, Gbagbe again refers to the notes, which say something about 'water gone', then checks to see if there is still water in the pool.

As Eddard puzzles out the order of the sarcophagi, Gbagbe moves up as if to help sort the logic of it. He's immediately distracted by observing the ratfolk's careful cogitations and, rather than helping solve the puzzle, Gbagbe just stares at Eddard as he thinks. The grippli's gaze is surprisingly intense, as if he's peering into Eddard's mind as it works and finds it truly fascinating.

"Wow, that was amazing..." Gbagbe says quietly to himself, absently helping out with the Scavenger's Stone when asked to do so. When the feeling of unease fades from the room, he looks around as if startled and says, "Oh, we did it! Guess I was busy watching Eddard's brain work. Really fascinating stuff."

I lined us all up on the map by the door that Victor had in mind, with our two trap-spotting types closest to the door.

Gbagbe hops into the room beside his fellow grippli, thinking aloud as he moves, "Okay, if we need to put the smashed lids back together, how do we figure out which pieces go with which sarcophagus? Simset's notes don't say enough about this, just that he broke some coffins and found no treasure." He sets to studying the shards with care for any indication of which ones go together.

Any checks we can do here? Or are there more clues to come to solve this puzzle? I'm guessing there's some relationship between statues and sarcophagi, but we don't have much info on the broken lids at this point.

DM - I didn’t account for the difficult terrain in my actions last round, so I’ll need to use a move action this round to make it all the way to the stela, and then my second move action to place the bow on it.

Also, is there more than one bow to be placed? Gbagbe grabbed what I thought was “the bow” in the bag, but in your last post you say there’s one remaining in the bag. Do we need to place another one?

Gbagbe continues his slow way across the chamber, reaching the stela and carefully setting the bow in its proper place! He turns to see if his actions have had any effect on the supernatural battle raging around the room!

Gbagbe's wide mouth drops open in astonishment as the frightful scene appears before him! He stands dumbfounded for a moment - though his companions have certainly seem him dumbfounded for longer on other occasions - before saying, "Whoa! It looks so real...well, except they don't have faces." Pondering it a moment, and thinking of what he knows of haunts, he calls out to his companions, "This is is a haunt, but not a normal one! Positive energy won't work to stop it, we need to undo the harm done by Marmoset, um, I mean the other Pathfinder, Slipshod. No, Simset! We need to put back the weapons to settle the haunt down!"

Gesturing to Victor to bend down a little, Gbagbe reaches into the magic sack the man carries and pulls out the Shoanti bow. He hurries to the corner where the bow once rested, and lays it on the stela there.

Move action to retrieve bow from Bag of Holding (since Victor is adjacent), move action to get to stela, free action to drop it - if it's a more elaborate action than dropping it, I'll just get next to the stela this round.

Aagh, wasn’t getting notifications on this thread - thanks Paizo site! And thanks for the reminder about fixing stuff with the stone, slipped right out of Gbagbe’s forgetful little mind.

Gbagbe gives his green forehead a smack, hard enough to rattle the strings of beads hanging around his neck, as he exclaims, ”Right! Right! The magic egg-stone that fixes stuff...what’s it called again? Avenger’s Stone...no. Scrivener’s Stone! No, that’s not quite it...um, oh - Scavenger’s Stone!“

As he pulls the stone from a small pouch at his belt, the strange, translucent figure materializes! ”Whoah! DM S - I assume this is not just a straight Diplomacy test, since we've got the detailed slides on each of the Council? Can you give us a sense of the mechanics here, even generally? Usually there are some broadly applicable skill checks to suss out what will work best with invidivual targets, like Perception or Sense Motive - does that apply here? I'm going to make a generic post about how we can repair damage to the site, and will throw down a Sense Motive check for the heck of it.

Gbagbe, knowing he is no diplomat, chooses to address one particular point that has been raised by more than one councilor. Holding up the Scavenger's Stone, he says, "We know much damage was done by the thoughtless intruder to your sacred place." He pauses, staring at the Stone for a long moment as if he's forgotten what it is, or why he's here, or even who he is, but eventually gets back on track, "This stone can repair damaged things, mundane or magic. The Society is prepared to expend all the magical power within this stone in order to undo the physical harm that has been done. So that's something."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 I'll have this be on Memory Tender, if you need a specific target.

Gbagbe is still standing in slack-jawed appreciation of Bulgulp’s vanishing trick when Jia begins casting his spell. ”That was amazing, with no movements or sound, you managed to…” he says as the spell takes effect. The brief, gut-wrenching journey distracts Gbagbe a moment, but he manages to get back on track, ”take a dose meant for much larger creature…er, I mean, disappear!” He glances around and says, ”Oh, look, we’re here!”

Joining his companions in following the taciturn Shoanti, Gbagbe spends as much time climbing along the walls and ceiling of the passage as walking on its floor, glad to be able to move comfortably again. He’s squatting on the floor when Rollicks in Waves approaches, however, and once again his eyes open wide and his jaw drops. ”Wait! Wait! I know you from somewhere! Have we met? I know we’ve met, right?” He rapidly taps his forehead with two fingers, as if trying to knock the contents of his little head into the right configuration, muttering, ”It was a place, where we went, and did a thing. Are you Frolics in Babes? No, that can’t be right. Bullocks of…no, not that.” Just as the Shoanti fisher sweeps him up in a hearty embrace and gives a brief description of the mission in question, it comes to him, ”Rollicks in Waves! Of course! So good to see you again!”

Once he’s been set down again by the much larger Shoanti, Gbagbe turns his somewhat scattered attention to Cousin to All, listening to her explanation of the situation and the task at hand. ”So, we’re to convince as many as possible that the Society meant no harm, in the interest of an alliance with us. Do you have reason to think any of them will be particularly supportive or…what’s the word? Not supportive? Anti-supportive…opposed! Will any of them be particularly opposed to joining with the Society?”

Gbagbe played in Fleshwarped Queen, that was a fun one!

Gbagbe studies Bulgulp as he moves in silence along the table, intrigued by the other grippli's secretive nature. When Bulgulp speaks in his quiet, whispering voice, Gbagbe can't help but jut his face forward and bulge his eyes a bit with interest. "Ooh, so mysterious, he is! I wonder if he can disappear before our eyes? Or if I could make a cool illoooosion to distract our foes while he sneaks into position to strike?" A couple of the other Pathfinders glance at him, and he says quietly, "Oops, said that out loud, didn't I?"

"Plus, what are the chances we'd run into the guy on this mission, if he hasn't been heard from in a year?" Gbagbe asks Alexandre. "That's so unlikely, it'll never happen!"

As Gbagbe studies the egg-shaped rock, he absent-mindedly extends his long, narrow tongue and licks at his shoulder and upper arm. As the psychotropic compounds in his skin react with his saliva, his eyes seem to swirl with a rainbow of colors for a moment. He takes a deep breath and says in a distant voice, "Oh, wooooow. This is a Scavenger's Stone! It'll let us fix all kinds of broken stuff." He pauses again, for a brief eternity, then adds, "That's cool."

As Zyneste speaks, a grin spreads wide across Gbagbe’s face, and he speaks almost before she can finish, ”Oh, good, you forget things too! I think we’ll do fine together!“ Turning to Eddard, says, ”Nice to meet you, Eddard. I used to know a lot about the Shoanti, I think, but I forgot most of it, but they sound...interesting. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure I know what this rock is.“

Hopping down from his chair, he says to Valsin, ”I’m ready to go!“

As Ambrus Valsin speaks, a small, peculiar figure tracks the venture-captain’s pacing with bulbous yellow eyes. He is a tiny, green and yellow-skinned frog, with orange feet and hands and spots of reds and blues scattered across his skin. Several strands of cheap, colorful glass beads hang from his scrawny neck and a riotously colored headband is tied around his head. He is unarmored, and unarmed but for a small crossbow hung on his back, and a bundle of bolts that appear to still have the original string around them from the fletcher's shop.

”Pathfinders!” he says excitedly when Valsin’s speech is complete. ”We’re to work with the Pathfinders? How exciting! I recently…oh, wait.” His speech tails off, and he continues in a quieter tone, as if speaking to himself, We are Pathfinders, all of us, you and them and him! You should get one of those things that they wear, that shows that they’re Pathfinders, to help you remember…what are they called again?” His protruding eyes flick upward at Valsin, then around the room as he recalls the others are still present, and can probably hear him quite clearly.

”Um, right. Did I introduce myself? I am…” he says, pausing a moment. The pause is long enough at first that it seems as if he might have somehow forgotten his own name, then the pause grows longer still, suggesting perhaps he's forgotten he's in a conversation or perhaps that such a thing as speech ever existed. His large, yellow eyes drift distantly for a long moment before he snaps back as if nothing has happened. "Gbagbe!" he finally continues, the name sounding as if he's swallowing a large bug as he speaks. ”That’s it, Gbagbe! I’m a Pathfinder!”

He settles back in his seat, wearing a look of contentment, as if he’s completed his business here and is quite pleased with how smoothly it’s gone. He nods a greeting at Zyneste and Eddard, smiles broadly at Alexandre and then looks quite startled when he spots Bulgulp. ”Well, hello! Again, I get to work with another grippli! That hasn’t happened since…well, when I did that thing for that other venture-whoozit in…I forget where we were…”

With a shrug, he lets his eyes wander a bit, and they eventually settle on the various documents and items that the venture-captain has placed on the table. ”Oh, right, a mission! What was it again? We’re to find a Thassilonian ruin?” He quickly scans the documents, scratches his head with a long, slender finger tipped with a suction-cup like pad, and says, ”Oh, no, that’s not it. We need to…apologize? That’s an interesting assignment, never had to do that before, at least not for the whole Society.”

Finally directing his rambling speech at Ambrus Valsin, Gbagbe clears his throat and says, ”Questions, yes! How do we show the quahs we are worthy of their trust? Use the stone to fix things that Lumpkitten…er, Limekettle…Lumketul, broke? Do you know what any of the creatures in his notes are? They sound fearsome indeed!”

Any knowledge checks we might apply to identify the vaguely-described monsters in Lumketul’s notes? Or in general to suss things about what lies ahead?

Will also do a quick detect magic scan of the items in the bag, to see if the notes are correct about what might be magical.

A fine point, Alexandre! Glad you pointed out our lack of compliance with DM S's request.

Hello all - I've got a couple of other options of characters I could play, but it seems like we're light on arcane casters, so I may end up with Gbagbe after all. He is an amnesiac psychic, and often can't even remember his own name - it can make for some entertaining RP, but let me know if it gets to be too over the top at all. He also has the psychedelia discipline, and is a grippli, so he tends to lick the psychoactive compounds off his skin to induce hallucinations - which means he has a bit of a druggy feel to him in play - if this makes anyone uncomfortable, I can dial it back.

In short, he's a hippy dippy trippy Grippli. He's not the most devastatingly effective character, but he's reasonably good with his illusions and I find him entertaining. He also casts a lot of Toppling Magic Missiles, which can be helpful in a fight when they work. I'll post the specific character info our esteemed DM has asked for once I'm sure I'll be playing Gbagbe.

I am planning on running through the whole of Season 6&7 for PBP if anyone here is interested. I'd love to return the favor and GM for you Cari!

I'll be starting with 6-01, for levels 1-5. The seasons kind of jumps around in the levels so it might be better to use pregens if you want to build up a new character, but that's just my thoughts on it.

I'm in a similar campaign, a core run built around season 5, with a few gems from other seasons thrown in. It was a bit tricky, but the guy who planned it out was able to order the scenarios so we could play them all the way through with the same characters, if you're feeling ambitious with your 6 & 7 run. It takes a pretty serious commitment, since it will take years to play out, but we're on our fourth scenario and rolling along nicely.
