With his hand raised up and a grin on his face, Garidan speaks "I volunteer to throw the tomatoes."

Welcome back!

Inactive

Garidan spent most of his time writing and preparing his reports so it was not surprising that he missed some queues and forgot a few lines. He assumed he would get a visit from their expert, but he paid the man little attention and even less respect. He had more important things to worry about, or so he thought.

DM:

Attention Commander,

Very little information has been gleamed about this "Penumbra" so far. She is most likely a human, elf, or half-elf. Descriptions are varied and are not supported, but she appears to be of slight build of average female height. She appears to be protected by the common people. So far, no one is willing to identify her. Investigations continue.

Garidan approaches the others and quietly inquires "have any of you seen Tania?" Could she have been captured? This is all too coincidental...she knew of our plans. If the others get a hold of her... He tries to shake the thought from his head. He knew all too well what they would do to her. We must get word to Penumbra.

"I couldn't agree more madame. Please excuse me. I wish to introduce myself to the other performers. It has been a true pleasure." Garidan bowed again and walked away to socialize with the other actors.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Garidan approaches Delour Aulamaxa and introduces himself with a flourish and a bow. "Greetings Visbarronetess. You look ravishing tonight. I just wanted to introduce myself. I will be playing Dentris. I was wondering if you could offer some pointers. I would be most appreciative."

Inactive

Garidan is stoic throughout the fitting process, answering any questions with as few words as possible. The dour expression he wears is almost constant.

Knowledge (local) on Delour Aulamaxa: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

"I believe I can protect up to three people for a couple of hours from the whipping. It should be long enough to make it through the performance."

What races are Calseinica and Thesing?

DM Dickie wrote:

Robhal is beginning to wonder if Beorn should be directing :P

Is Garridan just going to ignore the other roles?

Anyone want to vote on best insults? Many of the roles are pretty clear from what I've seen, that's the only one that doesn't have a real dice roll associated with it.

Garidan would prefer not to be a performer on stage and rather work in the background.

Inactive

Garidan gives his best performance in hiding his true potential. When swinging his bill, he pulls his punch. He tries to dive out of the way, but stubs his toe and stumbles across the floor. In apparent disgust, he looks at the director and simply mutters "simpleton" before he stalks off stage.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

"Do not fret my good sir. Your Dentris has arrived. I am certain that the scores of peons who have come before have discouraged your faith in our fine city, but prepare to be amazed. Seat yourself, and enjoy the show." With a flourish and a bow, Garidan moves to position himself directly in front of the director. He closes his eyes for a moment, let out a deep breath and begins.

"HOLD YOUR TONGUE BOY, and we may yet escape the firebrand. Your father was the model of a devil’s squire, forked tongue and cloven feet included! Summon his wiles now, and keep shut that hellish Abyss you call mouth, before we all tumble down into its impenetrable darkness. Had you been born deaf and dumb, it would have been an improvement and this loyal servant would yet live to see another midnight." "End scene."

Perform (Acting): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Inactive

So let's do the play, but maybe we can try to spice it up and make it a little more interesting. Simply posting the pre-written lines may become tedious.

Inactive

Garidan sits quietly, nodding in greeting as the others entered. He continued to sit quietly as the plan was laid out, and as doubt was cast. "I would prefer to wrap my fingers around our mayor, particularly his neck, but I suppose this will have to do. How much time do we have to prepare and will we need any supplies?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We're using the unchained crafting rules. This is my first time crafting with the new rules though so I could have gotten something wrong. I'll double check.

"A VIP you say, intriguing. I can't wait. Any problems over the last few weeks? Or anything we should know?" Garidan took a seat and began to peruse his spellbook.

Garidan spends 6 days and 180 gps to retain 2 hit points.

He also spends 15 days and 202.5 gp to work on a dark leaf leather lamellar.

So after three weeks, Garidan gains 2 hit points and is about 75% done crafting his mw dark leaf leather lamellar.

Two Questions:

1.) Is retraining allowed?

2.) Do we have two weeks of downtime?

Garidan enjoyed the spiced sausage thoroughly. It had been several days since he had eaten anything cooked, and weeks since he had eaten anything this good. Despite the business of the night, it was nice to be out of the apartment again. Seeing the crowd bolstered his resolve. It meant that they were making a difference. It meant that they were being effective, but most of all, it meant that life for the people of the city was improving.

When Arael joined them, he raised his glass in affirmation and ordered another round. "We will be ready" he simply stated matter of factly. He continued his meal and slowly looked around at the patrons. He tried to burn their faces into his mind. These were the people who were better off. These were the people he was fighting for.

Inactive

Can we used the unchained crafting rules? Garidan would like to craft his own armor, but using the normal rules it would take several months.

Unchained Crafting Rules

Inactive

Sounds good.

Garidan moves about the town selling off excess supplies and makes a few purchases along the way. He picks up a set of masterwork artisan tools for armorsmithing, a scroll of crafter's fortune, and a scroll of magic weapon. Afterwards he heads home for lunch and to work on scribing the new spells into his spellbook.

Spellcraft (crafter's fortune), school bonus vs DC 16: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 2 = 30
Spellcraft (magic weapon), school bonus vs DC 16: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 2 = 18

Inactive

Well, we lost a bloodrager, ranger, and bard. Why not pick up all three? Ranger for monk but othwise it's almost a straight up trade. Besides, it gives us some padding in case someone else drops.

Inactive

I like Eidi and Beorn the Divine. I think the bard would be helpful since we all like to hit things and he could help with that.

Inactive

"Yes, please take the armor. May it serve you well." Garidan tosses one of the cure light wounds potions and the disguise self potion to Rurik. "Take these." He tosses Tanrov the cure moderate wounds potion. "Take this too, just in case." Garidan claims the last cure light wounds potion and slips it into his bandolier. "We should lay low for a day or two. I'm going to inquire about town on their leader, see if he has any known associates, and I'll get rid of any of this gear that we can't use. Maybe we can afford to equip ourselves a little better."

Cure Light Wounds Potion - Garidan
Cure Light Wounds Potion - Rurik
Cure Moderate Wounds Potion - Tanrov
Disguise Self Potion - Rurik
+1 Breastplate - Tanrov
Split: 1000 gp a piece, 437.5 in party fund

Loot:

mw studded leather (175 gp)
mw studded leather (175 gp)
mw breastplate (350 gp)
+1 morningstar (1154 gp)
iron unholy symbol (2.5 gp)
580 gp
studded leather x20 (250 gp)
rapier x10 (100 gp)
dagger x10 (10 gp)
light crossbows x10 (175 gp)
crossbow bolts x100 (5 gp)
mw dagger (151 gp)
mw rapier (160 gp)
jeweled short sword (150 gp)

Whatever loot is not claimed, Garidan will sell off over the next few days. He'll also take the time to gather information on Palaveen and spend time training Tavi. He's also going to try to locate a darkleaf cloth leather lamellar set of armor.(810 gp).

Diplomacy (Gather Information): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Garidan recites the words to the cantrip and begins scanning his surroundings, looking for any signs of magical auras. He also gives the high quality weapons a once over.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 on the cleric's wand.

Inactive

The fool!. "Thank you, that was the opening I was looking for" Garidan says as he runs the tiefling through.

AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Inactive

Garidan continues to attempt to knock away the wand. "Surrender, and you may yet see tomorrow."

Disarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Inactive

Garidan once again moves forward and tries to slap the wand out of the cleric's hand.

Disarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Inactive

Garidan steps forward and attempts to disarm the wand wielding tiefling.

Disarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Inactive

With Tanrov blocking the northern passage, Garidan hustles past the tiefling cleric and moves to surround the priest. Taking up a position near the western door to prevent retreat or encroachment, Garidan wields his bill menacingly. "Go ahead, call for more help. They won't save you in time."

Double Move. Garidan has reach.
AC: 19

Inactive

"I have more tricks than you have thugs thief." Garidan's hand slips into his spell component pouch and comes out with a small piece of butter. Holding up his hand and chanting the ancient words, he summons a slick pile of grease at the tiefling's mace.

DC 15 Reflex save or drop his mace.

Inactive

Garidan grabs his bill tightly and slams it into the ground as hard as he can sending a ripple of power through the ground. The rumbling earth trembles and quakes as it streaks toward the enemy.

Thunderstomp trip attempt vs. opponent's CMD: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Inactive

As consciousness comes flooding back, Garidan grabs his fallen bill and begins to pull himself to his feet. It was all coming back so fast. The tieflings, the Mage, the immaterial mace that walloped him from behind. He tried to shake the cobwebs out and focus, but the pain lingered and made concentrating difficult.

Inactive

Garidan pulls out his healing potion and quaffs it.

Cure Light Wounds potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Inactive

Reflex Save vs. DC 14: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The unexpected arrival and sudden eruption of fire was enough to catch Garidan completely off guard as he took the full force of the fire. The floating mace was enough to finish him off. With a thud, Garidan collapsed to the floor as his bill clattered to the ground.

Stabilize: 1d20 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (5) + 1 - 3 = 3

Inactive

Garidan lashed out at the legs of one of the rogues hoping to trip him up.

Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

AC: 19 (+1 Dex, +4 Mage Armor, +4 Shield)

Inactive

Garidan stepped forward to bring the tieflings within reach and stabbed forward with his bill, hoping to knock one of them off balance.

Aid Another to Tanrov's AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Success! +2 AC to Tanrov

Inactive

Garidan falls in behind Tanrov and Rurik and heads into the building.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Inactive

Garidan readies his spear to stab through the door once it falls to Tanrov's attack.

Aid Another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Inactive

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Garidan moves closer to the door and prepares to impale anything that comes out of the building.

Move Action: Circle around the building looking for the door.
Standard Action: Ready Action to attack anyone leaving the building.

I hate to say it but maybe we should call it quits. We've lost Cato and Martino it seems, and Mimazaran hasn't posted anything in a month. I realize people get busy, but people also commit time to games. Being down three players is tough. There are hundreds of people always looking to get in games, but finding three that mesh well will be a challenge. I don't think we can handle the current encounter at half strength, and it would be awkward at least to introduce people midway through. Having said all that, I'm willing to push ahead, but it is a lot to over come,

Inactive

I'm here.

Inactive

Garidan heads south towards the next building and takes cover.

Move Action: 30 feet
Standard Action: Total Defense
AC: 23

Inactive

Garidan charges across the street with his bill at the forefront, trying to skewer the tiefling attacking Tanrov.

Bill, Charge: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15

Inactive

"And I thought the underground passages were supposed to be collapsed. Alright, everyone out. Catch up to Tanrov. Let's see if we can use the buildings as cover. Mimazaran, can your shadow puppets get to the upper levels? Garidan heads out of the building and using his bonded bill, casts shield upon himself.

Inactive

Garidan turns around to see that Tanrov has engaged others outside of the building. "Rurik, cover his back from range, stay in cover if you can." He then turns back to the table and tries to move it far enough so that Mimazaran can take a quick look. Only trying to move the table a few inches to see underneath it.

Inactive

That seems highly unlikely the mage thought to himself. Tanrov, give me a hand with this table. I think it's concealing something." Garidan moved over to grab one side of the table, leaning his bill against the nearest wall. "Mimazaran, when we move this, peak beneath it, and keep that crossbow handy.
