Inspector Delft sits down in the chair and replies to the assembled group, "Yes, unfortunately, there have been a wee bit of problems pop up. Four of our officers in key positions have decided to lay off of work, today of all days! It's a damned disgrace to the RHC that we have such incompetent fools still in our employ!" He slams his cane against the floor to implement his point. "We are the hand of our king, the servants of our nation, and look how poorly those flaming blighters make us look! Make us look right incompetent, they do!" Delft sighs and takes the drink the barmaid offers him, but doesn't drink from it, instead waving it around as he speaks, "But I'm gabbing too much about this, aren't I? Well anyways, I need you lot to fill in for the slack-jawed bounders. Miss Englasias, I know ya don't have any idea what to do, but these two know what to do. Or rather, they will, once I tell them who abandoned their posts." Bringing this post to a halt so I can give you all a chance to respond!
Inspector Delft waves his hand and shakes his head, "No, no Miss Englasias, stay and have a seat. I have already talked with Smith earlier and he mentioned that ya might be able to help with the situation at hand. Ya may not be RHC, but if Smith vouches for ya, you're a good and capable sort. That chap has an eye for talent, he does!"
'It is spring of the year 500 A.O.V. (After Our Victory). Seven years after the end of the Fourth Yerasol War, the shipyards in Flint have completed the first Risuri warship powered solely by steam engine, not sail. Your monarch, King Aodhan, has come to Flint to witness the official launch of this mighty vessel. Woodenhulled but with a heart and skin of iron, the Royal Naval Ship Coaltongue will act as a deterrent against future aggression from Risur’s enemy across the sea, the nation of Danor. The Royal Homeland Constabulary has been called upon to provide security, and all branches of the Constabulary have spent the past several weeks working to make sure this event goes off without a hitch-canvassing the docks, performing background checks on the guest list, coordinating with the local police to set up a perimeter around the royal docks, and following various directives of those higher up the chain of command. Some have called you and your compatriots lucky to have been held back from performing any duties as of yet, that you all should be lucky to be on standby instead of performing the grueling tasks at hand. All you've done in the last few weeks is train for any basic job that may be required, in case you were needed for whatever reason. Such luck ends today, for your commander has come by the tavern you all frequent and has word for you all...' The door to the tavern swings open and a tall man dressed in a RHC uniform, with numerous adornments, steps through. You recognize the man as Assistant Chief Inspector Stover Delft, the man who more or less manages the local chapter of the RHC. He looks you over, sternfaced and chewing his tobacco, and walks over, using his silver-topped cane as a prop due to an injury he suffered regarding an incident with a smuggled Mimic a few years back. He is wearing his bowler hat over his balding black hair and tips it a bit as he begins to speak, a slight smile cracking his face as he does so, his Stoves accent shining through, "Ey there, chaps! How are you lot on this fine day? Enjoying yerselves? One of ya want to slide yer Chief a chair?" AND SO, AT LONG LAST, THE CAMPAIGN BEGINS!
The newer stuff is USUALLY not as OP as some of the older stuff, but in some cases it is. Some of the Commander cards are pretty powerful, however. And as far as better or worse, I would generally say better. From Mirrodin and Ravnica onward, the series has mostly improved, sans Kamigawa block, which was cool thematically, but crap in play. Of course, my definition of 'better' usually equates to 'powerful, but not so powerful as to be utterly ridiculous', which is pretty much what most legacy decks are built around. I'm not a spike, I just enjoy playing the game, so I don't like a 'using high tide, I mill you to death in one turn with Blue Sun Zenith' type crap lol. It seems odd for an Esper Mage such as myself, since those colors hold a LOT of broken combos, but I prefer a more intense battle with custom decks instead of one of the 'cookie cutter kill build' decks. Elves and Goblins are still pretty good. I much prefer Angel or Artifact creature decks, some for theme, others for power. Also, just wanted to check in and keep you all updated about why I didn't post, since I'm going to try to be relatively expedient letting you know about this kind of stuff.
Sorry, ran a bit behind, with all the Magic the Gathering Commander 2014 decktesting sprees my buddies and I do every year. The red deck is overrated, in my humble opinion. Black, blue, and white are where it's at. And green... well green is just green lol. Testing is now finished, so expect a post up soon. Also, found a replacement PC while playtesting the decks, so expect another PC soon!
Back! I will be looking through my massive backlog of posts that has been building since I left because of my health concerns. Just to give everyone perspective, my sugar is staying more stable and, since I don't have to eat as much, my insulin and blood pressure levels are regulating. Let's get a rolecall!
Jasper, what makes you think I care about combat optimization lol? I much prefer a well-thought-out character with a good backstory to cookie-cutter death machine #9,578, so you're fine. I'm about to go to bed, so remind me later about the arcaniss residuum (Yes, I changed the name lol!). FIREARMS AND FIREARM MODIFICATIONS FORTHCOMING TODAY! Mods like scopes, underbarrels, ect. will be available. ANYONE WHO HAS UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, PLEASE REPOST THEM!
I'm back everyone! This is a general announcement for everyone in one of my campaigns or recruitment. The screen on my phone was shattered, which has prevented me from posting in the past like week because I have not been able to scroll down a webpage with a cracked screen. I took a picture of my phone with a friends phone, so if anyone is interested in me verifying that it was a real problem, I can post it and provide a link. I know it's not necessary, but I don't like just telling people that there is a problem without offering some sort of proof. I feel it helps you all to trust that I tell the truth, since some people are compulsive GM-slackers. I SHOULD be good on posting until around September 2nd, when I go to the endocrinologist for my appointment. Obviously on Thursdays I will not be posting, but that had already been mentioned. I will be working through my discussions and recruitments todays, so I will not be posting until tomorrow! ZG PEOPLE! Answers for your questions below! Wealth: Max gold for the class that has the highest starting gold value! And obviously, I'm waiving weight for coinage and other forms of currency, though not items that ACT as currency. Example: 10,000 gold has no weight, but a painting worth the same weighs, say, 5 pounds. Make sense? Also, for those interested in crafting items, I have a system for breaking down existing magic items to create arcaanum residue, which is highly portable like coins and is used to waive much of the gold costs for magic items and substantially reduces crafting time! You will need Spellcraft to be able to create or use arcaanum residue, however! El Ronza, yes there is enough time! Likely leaving recruitment open for 3 days! Those selected will have additional time to finish characters before the campaign. CR500Cricket, those archetypes are fine! Be aware, however, that morality is a VERY grey area in games like this. I would suggest forming a code of 13 'firm' tenets for the paladin to uphold and run them by me. This way, only violating these will cause a loss of powers. There are many situations where being forced to choose the lesser of two evils in many campaigns causes paladins to fall otherwise. Why 13 tenets? It sounds like a good number to me, because I just got through with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, the remastered version for PS3! No, seriously, it is why, because I wanted a solid number and the number 13 is important anyway. Why is it important? That's for you to find out, isn't it? :P Also, Githzerai stats are forthcoming! WOLead, what, polluting a Fey forest come back to haunt the nation? I have no idea where you get that idea! :P
True Repentance, Leadership is allowed, but only ONE character in the party can have it, the cohort must be of an NPC class, and the spy network (Followers,) would function mostly to help advance the story if everyone is stuck. Doublegold, sorry I missed your post! Yes, that class is allowed. Ed, still comparing weapons to see what is comparable to those you described to me.
True Repentance, that was a durp on my part! I thought the Mindchemist was an archetype for a Spirit Medium class because it was in brackets next to it... I was like 'wait, TWO Mindchemist archetypes are out? That's confusing!'. I feel dumb lol. WOLead, feel free to take your time! Alder, Xentik is correct. Ed, I'm trying to pick weapons that are similar. Given that I was at a surprise party thrown for me yesterday, I haven't really had the chance to look it over in-depth.
Ok folks, back online! *REVISION 26 POINT BUY, USING THE SAME GUIDELINES!* ALSO, REMEMBER THE BASIC PARTS OF FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVES! THEY'RE BOTH LOUD, SO IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A STEALTHY APPROACH, BRING A BACKUP WEAPON! ALSO, BE AS CAUTIOUS WITH EXPLOSIVES AS YOU WOULD A FIREBALL SPELL, SINCE THESE ADVENTURES HAVE A GOOD BIT MORE URBAN ADVENTURING THAN OTHERS! BOTH ARE STILL VERY USEFUL AND HAVE A DEFINITE PLACE IN THE CAMPAIGN, BUT BEAR IN MIND THESE THINGS AS YOU PLAN YOUR CHARACTER! JUST USE BASIC COMMON SENSE WHEN THINKING THINGS THROUGH, JUST AS YOU WOULD WITH ANY CHARACTER! EDIT: You can buy silencers for a gun, but they decrease damage and range increments. Bombs, alas, have no silencer, unless a Silence spell is cast on it or something lol. Xentik, you may submit up to 3! And yes, the archetype is allowed. Did you design it yourself? It actually looks good! Sixteenbitcon, there's nothing wrong with the first idea at all! A true gentleman fights with his cane, yes? :P Bear in mind, tophats and monocles are a thing some of the wealthier members of these nations are fond of, as are bowler hats! Tsiron, heroes don't sit on the sidelines! *Shakes fist* :P True Repentence, I don't have the Spirit Medium. Can you link it so I can check it out? Also, I have a LOT of books with new Alchemist Discoveries regarding bombs, so if the Mind Chemist gives you those, you have a great deal of options! Otherwise I have a lot of item books, so you can find some interested grenade/bomb weapons there. I would be amenable to creating a new feat, if need be, so you can custom craft bombs/grenades with certain spell effects (If I do, it would require either Craft: Alchemy or Craft: Engineering, Knowledge: Arcana, and Spellcraft as prereqs,). Ed, nice! Love the calling card! Reminds me of one of a very cool character I played once who left midnight orchids clutched in victim's hand. My character was a Lawful Evil Ninja/Assassin, but still, calling cards are cool! Rednal, build what properly? |
