I think I'm just going to call it guys since that drops us below a legal table. I'm tired of replacing people. There are some exceptionally challenging fights in this one, and this particular team has just struggled with it. I'd rather call it to let everyone move on with their characters. Let me know if anyone would prefer to do something else.

Aside:
To be honest, I've been trying very hard to not just murder the PCs. The scenario basically assumes the phoenix hits hard with AoEs, as do the casters. Having Cale still up in this encounter has definitely been a problem.

@Aquana The mechanic that binds the creature here, and allows it to be 'summmoned' isn't extraplanar in nature, nor is the creature. So that spell wouldn't apply.

Indeed made of fireballs

Felver raises the obscuring mists again and moves up to his foe.

With The Doormouse's speed, I think you'd need to use the greater invisibility, or use both move actions, but I think you'd prefer to be invis

The Doormouse vanishes from view and moves up. Aquana sends a series of magic missiles into Teko.

Boron makes a few mighty swings against Teko, who begins to look gravely wounded.

Cale, unable to see once more, fights the mists with fire once more.
As a sorcerer, he is indeed made for slinging lots and lots of spells.

concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 20
fireball: 10d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 3) = 32
After the mists burn away and he can clearly see his foe, He chooses to move away, clearly not wishing to remain adjacent to a clearly menacing foe.

The great fiery bird coalesces from the chasm and flies directly to Teko; with a kind nod, you see the wounds on Teko vanish. It remains nearby, clearly threatening Boron.

spellcraft DC 21:
Heal SLA

Remind me, did anyone make the knowledge check last time?

Round 15, bold up
Felver {24/40 damage} reflex save AoO on Cale
Geppa {35 damage}
Bird!
Teko
Cale {8 damage}
The Doormouse
Boron {49 damage, sickened}
Aquana {14 damage}

indeed, great website fun!

Minor Retcon

Teko still stands at the ready, waiting for a foe to taste his blade. The Combination of magic missiles and flaming axes brings the last bugbear down.

Cale tosses another fireball, this time at the obscuring mists, burning them and Felver. Geppa fidgets with her ring, and you once again hear wingbeats. Both mages step back 5 more feet

fireball damage: 10d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 1, 6, 3, 1, 2, 1, 6) = 29
Teko's ready didn't go off, so back to his original place in initiative

Teko moves forward, seeing someone breeched his bridge anyways, and slices at Boron

attack, power attack: 1d20 + 26 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 26 - 4 = 32 damage: 1d8 + 11 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 8 = 20

Round 15, bold up
Felver reflex save, remind me if you have evasion
Geppa {35 damage}
Teko {25 damage}
Cale {8 damage}
The Doormouse
Boron {49 damage, sickened}
Aquana {14 damage}

She successfully cast defensively, no AoO. On another note, if anyone has any active special abilities/spells please list them on your taglines (e.g. Active Conditions: heroism). I did some searching but its hard :)

The mages were beyond The Doormouse's range for telekinesis. The Doormouse stated the (injured) purple bugbear.

I'd assumed you wanted the opportunity to full-round Teko before he got to full-round you. Let me know what you two decide.

Felver lands a solid blow against Geppa. She responds by casting a spell
defensively.
concentration check: 1d20 ⇒ 17

D21 spellcraft +1 for every 10' from felver:
mislead

She then proceeds to carefully step 5' from Felver.

Teko readies a stance, which proves prescient as Boron goes flying into him.

attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (20) + 26 = 46damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (5) + 26 = 31crit damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

If confirmed, Boron is sickened for 1 minute. What did you do to the dice gods?!!??!

Round 15, bold up
Cale {8 damage}
Felver
Geppa {35 damage}
Archer
purple Bugbear {35 damage}
The Doormouse
Teko {25 damage}
Boron {58 damage, sickened}
Aquana {14 damage}

Activating boots of speed will get you there this round. Which mage, Geppa or Cale?

GM Dice:

You need to remain stealthed (e.g. move at half speed or take a -5 penalty to stealth) to get the benefits from stealth on the attack that round? So a stealth roll of 30 becomes 25 (with -5 from moving quickly)

Cale perception: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Geppa Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Teko guards his post, ready for a foe to come. Cale tosses a fireball at the pathfinders.
That counts as sounds of combat, so Felver is up if he chooses to act

fireball: 10d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 3, 2, 1, 3, 3, 5, 4) = 29 DC 16 reflex for half for The Doormouse, Aquana, and Boron

Round 15ish, bold up
The Doormouse {readied}
Cale {8 damage}
Felver {delaying for sounds of combat}
Teko {25 damage}
Geppa
Archer
purple Bugbear {35 damage}
Aquana
Boron

Going to have that throw go off when Boron is up as a readied action so he doesn't get full rounded first, if that is ok with The Doormouse. That will delay your turn, so let me know.

Geppa does a slight deadpan upon seeing the pathfinders return You're back... some people don't learn.... Before she acts, The Doormouse has a chance to act.

Round 15ish, bold up
Felver {delaying for sounds of combat}
The Doormouse
Teko {25 damage}
Geppa
Cale {8 damage}
Archer
purple Bugbear {35 damage}
Aquana
Boron

Happy new year! Still need Boron and Aquana on map to start back up, you can also post what you do on your first turn back. Felver has stated delaying for sounds of combat.

Sounds like you buff up as the ice storm dies down and head back into the tunnel? If so position yourself at the entryway and we'll resume at that point.

Felver:
I moved you back to the chasm, assuming you didn't climb up and out, because that would start things sooner. Where you were is actually a wall. After 7 rounds your invisibility would fade, leaving you in plain view of the guy on the bridge. You still have concealment and can rest on your current stealth (sans invisibility bonus), or you can re-up it to keep the bonus. Let me know your preference

GM rolls:
d20: 1d20 ⇒ 7

After roughly a minute, the ice storm ceases.
Party is up, 30' back in the tunnel

Felver climbs invisibly, when he reaches the top, the two mages appear to see him as he is pulling over the edge of the cliff on the far side.

Ruling you can get a surprise round as you leave cover from there, then they'll be up since they've been delayed the whole time. It looks like the remaining party members are waiting out the ice storm.

Are you both waiting out the ice storm ? Aquana?

I ruled that the tunnel turns and begins to widen 10' back, so if you can act in a meaningful fashion, you'll have to be there to do so.

It will take 2+ rounds for the climbing to happen. Does anyone do anything concrete in those two rounds or continue waiting for the ice storm to abate.

There are no obvious threats, and no one can see them anyways. so baddies aren’t taking any actions that you’re aware of. Hence everyone is up again

Party can act, nothing has changed

need a climb check DC 20

Are you climbing down the ravine or something else?

Technically the ‘tunnel’ isn’t fleshed out except to say it widens into this cavern. I’m going to assume that you can’t see more than 10’ back (note this also limits the ice storm radius as well). So presently only Felver can see anything.

@Felver, you don't have any cover there, so just invisibility allowing stealth

Teko cocks his head to the side Have it your way. As he prepares for the pathfinders to return. The bugbear likewise waits for people to get closer, unable to see Felver.

Geppa casts a spell.

spellcraft DC 34 from edge of map where The Doormouse is:
Globe of Invulnerability

Cale casts a spell.

spellcraft DC 31 from edge of map where The Doormouse is:

A hail storm begins above The Doormouses head, with Boron and Aquana back far enough it doesn't hit them.

20' radius of difficult terrain at the edge of the map, starting at The Doormouse
cold damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) = 9
bludgeoning damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

Felver
The Doormouse {12 damage}
Teko {25 damage}
Geppa
Cale {8 damage}
Archer
purple Bugbear {35 damage}
Aquana
Boron

There are some readied actions that may go off depending on what people do. If we need to retcon because one goes off and it'd change what others do, we can do that

That would be my preference.

Need someone to move Felver’s token before the baddies go.

Waiting on Felver to take his presumably stealthy turn. Make sure to move your PC and roll stealth.

@Felver, yes, you could start in stealth and remain in stealth per the rules, as long as you can find appropriate cover or concealment. Note this also depends on where each enemy is. Breaking Stealth When you start your turn using Stealth, you can leave cover or concealment and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment. Your Stealth immediately ends after you make an attack roll, whether or not the attack is successful (except when sniping as noted below).

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

The pathfinders return to the cavern, where Teko and the others still remain and look clearly poised to resume hostilities, despite their attempts to talk it through.

Did the Doormouse heal up earlier when Felver and Boron did? I'd assume so but it wasn't rolled.

GM roll:
stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 20

DC 36 perception:
You see the Scallywag from earlier, taking clear aim at the group, from the cover up ahead. (see the orange outline).

The Doormouse asked that people be back a distance, did people listen to that or not? please indicate if you were back or not, and if so, at what distance.
Round 1, bold up
Felver
The Doormouse
Teko {25 damage}
Geppa
Cale {8 damage}
Archer
purple Bugbear {35 damage}
Aquana
Boron

waiting for Boron's and Aquana's intiative

Teko calls back Blood for blood, now leave or taste steel
Do you turn and leave after his answer, he clearly looks poised to resume combat

Knowledge local dc 15:
This is a Galtan revolutionary principle, that an attack on the peoples of Galt be returned in kind

Teko calls out loudly Turn back around and leave or face our wrath!

If you don't turn around, go ahead and roll initiative.

GM stuff:

Teko: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Geppa: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Cale: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Bugbear: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Archer: 1d20 ⇒ 20

If you go into the cave, we'll roll initiative and start doing things in rounds. let me know everyone else's plan to follow

The fiery bird is immune to fire. It is an imposing magical beast few would want as enemy, with dominion over both healing and fire magics.

arcana, there was a spoiler up above

Enjoying the role playing. Replacement mid combat definitely denies those opportunities.

Whenever everyone is ready with the plan, you can place yourself at the mouth of the cave and we'll roll initiative at that point.

I'd continue talking and make sure you're happy with your plan. Not trying to rush anyone.

The pathfinders get back to the tunnels and continue to flee back to the maze. After a minute it seems their foes did not give chase.

Let me know what you guys do now

The bird flies over to Teko, and his wounds begin to magically close.
CCW: 4d8 + 18 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 6) + 18 = 32
Cale and Geppa both appears to ready actions.

Teko is quite confident that he has indeed held the bridge back from his now retreating foes and does not pursue.

Round 7
Felver {56 damage}
doormouse {11 damage}
Geppa
Big Red Bird {top of gargantuan is 10' above bridge on left side, flying}
Teko {25 damage}
Cale {8 damage)
Aquana {33 damage}
Boron {85 damage, flying}
orange archer
red bugbear {35 damage, 110 feet down}

Round 7
Felver {56 damage}
doormouse {11 damage}
Geppa
Big Red Bird {top of gargantuan is 10' above bridge on left side, flying}
Teko {57 damage}
Cale {8 damage)
Aquana {33 damage}
Boron {85 damage, flying}
orange archer
red bugbear {35 damage, 110 feet down}

The archer with an orange vest takes a few shots at the now visible Felver, a single one landing.

many: 1d20 ⇒ 1damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8
rapid: 1d20 ⇒ 19damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
iti: 1d20 ⇒ 1damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

I’ll adjust hp on next post, always awesome when an item pays off! Teko is the armored human male, Geppa is the female human and Cale is the elf near her

@Felver, you also have +8 damage, and your crit is confirmed. Goz Mask removes concealment
crit damage: 2d4 + 16 + 25 ⇒ (4, 2) + 16 + 25 = 47

Felver stabs the bugbear, and he falls, bleeding.

Cale sends five magic missiles into Aquana.

magic missile: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 3, 4) + 5 = 19

Geppa calls out to the bird, Get rid of the fog!!!

The bird flies over the bridge, lets go of Teko in front of it, proceeds to invoke its innate magical abilities.

greater dispel magic: 1d20 + 18 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 18 + 4 = 37

The fog, as quickly as it had rolled in, disappears.

Teko himself advances and slashes once at Boron, missing.
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Round 7
Felver {41 damage, invisible}
doormouse {11 damage}
Geppa
Big Red Bird {top of gargantuan is 10' above bridge on left side, flying}
Teko {57 damage}
Cale {8 damage)
Aquana {52 damage}
Boron {85 damage, flying}
orange archer
red bugbear {35 damage, 110 feet down}

Although Teko weighs little relative to the bird's capacity, holding him does distract him slightly.

Ruling the bird and Teko as having the grappled condition, and thus unable to AoO Boron as he moves away.

I put a 20' radius on Boron's current position to represent fog cloud.

perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Aquana can see:
The archer seems uninterested in attacking into the fog. He seems, thus far, oblivious to Aquana's use of magic to get behind the line.

Boron can see, and any anyone else who can see through the fog:
The archer seems uninterested in attacking into the fog. He seems, thus far, oblivious to Aquana's use of magic to get behind the line. The bugbear with purple leather armor begins slowly moving back towards his allies, unable to see anything, but he stops when he gets within distance of Boron, swinging and missing with his morningstar.

attack: 1d20 ⇒ 10concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 45

Can The Doormouse see through Boron's fog cloud? If so, I'll take your above action, otherwise will need something else on your turn. Keep in mind that Teko is 30' down, in addition to any horizontal distance, incase that determines your ability to SA. Note, I will require you to beat the bird's CMD to knock Teko out of his hands, not just Teko's. So feel free to take a different action if that changes what you'd like to do.

Round 7
Felver {41 damage, invisible}
doormouse {11 damage}
Geppa
Big Red Bird {top of gargantuan is 30' below bridge on right side, flying}
Teko {57 damage, in Big Red Bird's claws}
Cale {8 damage)
Aquana {33 damage}
Boron {85 damage, flying}
orange archer
purple bugbear {57 damage}
red bugbear {35 damage, 110 feet down}

So there has been a lot of talk about actions and plans. I'm going to assume, that the Doormouse, seeing Felver's attack fail first (the dice gods have not been kind here), and with Tenzo barely damaged, attempts their original course of action.

GM screen:

reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 20 to anyone reading this, you shouldn't be, you should be respecting the GM screen. My first post got eaten somehow and I'd rolled two 5's here. I'm keeping that roll
reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 20
falling damage: 12d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 6, 2, 1, 3, 5, 1, 1, 6, 2) = 35
falling damage: 12d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 3, 5, 4, 2, 5, 1, 5, 1, 6) = 47

Teko grins when he narrowly dodge's Felver's strike. A new challenger, prepare to meet your end

The Doormouse quips about his treatment of defenseless animals and uses magic to cause Teko and the red bugbear to go careening into the pit.

Geppa continues to fiddle with the ring, and from the depths of the chasm, a brilliant red gargantuan bird appears. She calls out Destry the enemies of the red raven! It flys over to Teko, lifts him in its claws, and brings him closer to the bridge.

DC 25 Arcana:
This is a phoenix, for every 5 above you can ask one question

Cale casts a spell, a smug look on his face.

DC 17 Spellcraft, +1 for every 10’ from elf:
false life
hp: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

Round 6
Felver {41 damage, invisible}
doormouse {11 damage} Please specify elevation
Geppa
Big Red Bird {top of gargantuan is 30' below bridge on right side, flying}
Teko {57 damage, in Big Red Bird's claws}
Cale {8 damage)
Aquana {33 damage}
Boron {85 damage, flying} Please specify elevation
orange archer
purple bugbear {57 damage}
red bugbear {35 damage, 110 feet down}

rules stuff, if curious about Bird picking up Teko:
The bird used a flyby attack to pickup Teko, taking a standard action during its movement

Need Felver to roll his attack in gameplay (or here) for that.

I’ve seen one vote to press on and one to potentially retreat, along with two asking what to do. I’ll update tonight assuming Felver attacks (along with Doormouse), unless told otherwise.

I’ll wait until Saturday to update. It looks like we have a consensus but I want to make sure:)

I'll hold on for Doormouse and Felver to coordinate their actions.

I prefer another player to move Felver rather than me if he isn't going to do it.

Talking about plan sounds like a good idea generally.
