"I..." Freia mumbled and then quickly stopped again. This was what she had wanted, was it not? A chance to do good. A chance to belong. But... It didn't *feel* like what she wanted now. She carefully looked around at her companions as the thoughts churned around, almost painfully so, in her mind. With a deep breath she tried to speak again.

"I... *uh* I don't think I can." A bit deflated she sighed. But the admission had also emboldened her, so she spoke again. "No, I don't think I can. Would you write me a letter of recommendation to the City Watch?"

"I'm going to see if I can't help out from up there!" Freia quickly points to the ballista closest to them, for the benefit of both Noro and her father. She had spotted a ladder leading up to the catwalk so she hurried towards it without looking back - it would be hard to resist another time-consuming hug.

I will have to be careful to not get seen. They could probably shoot me off the walkway before I get a chance to strike first ... She worried and uttered a quick prayer that she wouldn't have to meet Pharasma just yet. There was not much to hide behind but maybe - just maybe - if she was quiet enough they wouldn't notice?

Double moving towards the stairs to the walkway. Not sure where they are on the map so it would be sweet if you could move Freia on the map Choon!

Stealth(Maybe?): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 <- I think moving at double-move speed carries some steep penalties, but it can't hurt (hopefully!) to try right?

She lingers in the hug for a short while, but knows that she has to help her comrades - and their friends/family. "We have to help Zayid! Quick, anyone see any way up to the walkway? "Can you walk?" Freia asked the girl quickly. She understood if that one would rather sit down and catch her breath for a while, Freia would love that too, but now wasn't the time. She turned the wand to herself and called out back to Noro.

It's done! For now at least! Freia sighed in relief. The temptation to simply drop her sword and rush over and hug her father were overpowering - she longed to be embraced in warmth and safety again. But it wouldn't be safe, no not yet. We have to get out first! The cure they were looking for were a distant second objective at the back of her mind, trusted entirely on Lazarus and forgotten.

Now that she had decided not to run or hide she took a moment to assess the reality of the situation. She had two unfamiliar faces infront of her. She guessed one was Noro's friend, the other maybe someone of Zayids? Or Halsanna, if they have picked up on her yet ... Freia rapidly unclipped her belt and handed it to the one still standing.

"Here. Some armaments." Dagger, Cold Iron Dagger, Silver Light Hammer and a Sap then knelled next to the fallen one and pulled out her wand. "This may sting a bit ..."

Hopefully they can walk ...

Just one more...! Freia thought to herself in relief and readied herself for another go. But instead she halted and turned around racing to the back of the room. Things weren't going so well back there, and although she didn't knew these prisoners, she could only assume they were precious to her comrades. Noro called for someone earlier? And she couldn't let them down!

With her sword over her head and a curse on her lips Freia slipped around the man harassing their backline and tried to flank him, but came up just short.

Freia cried out as the warmth flowed into her. It washed away the pain just for a short moment; all was fine. As it quickly subsided she was determined to make that moment into a permanent reality - first step was cutting down this foe! With intense concentration she stepped up again and struck; willing her blade to seek out the weakness of his defences and slice him open.

To hit; touch attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25

Ah! Freia gritted her teeth as to not scream in pain. No! Noro handles this fine ... She dared to steal a quick glance at her friend and pushed the pulsing wound out of her mind. ...I can't be worse. I CAN'T! Things weren't exactly going to plan and she oh so dearly wanted to sit down and just rest but they had to finish this first. Win this fight. She stepped away from Noro for a moment and ducked under the polearm-mans guard to deliver a series of cursed strikes!

Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 = 9 DC 13 (with a -2 penalty die to the aura) for that last point of damage!

Dammit I need to do better! Freia thought to herself. Her friends relied on her now. Her family relied on her now - she couldn't let them down! Whispering an arcane curse she lashed out towards the man with an axe. Noro struck him just moments ago and perhaps their combined efforts would bring him down?

Swift action to use Arcane Strike. Full-round action to use spell combat to try and cast defensively Brand (mainly for the extra attack). Since the attack missed Freia is holding the charge.

Biting down hard as to not cry out in pain Freia lashes out with her sword hoping to quickly finish off her weakened opponent. And with his movements slowed by the strength-sapping cold of her previous strike her blow easily collected and almost shattered the man. Freia recoiled a little as bits of frozen person rained down around her - but now was not the time to falter!

Seeing from the corner of her eye how the captives start to slip away Freia is greatly emboldened. Okay. Good. Now to get ourselves out of here ... Of course, she doesn't have time to notice that some of them seems to have other plans!

Swinging towards any thug that could AoO Noro as she gets up, if any. Otherwise target-at-will!

Hmm. Initially I assumed we were up again, but our foes didn't really do anything so perhaps not. So I put what I was typing in a spoiler bellow instead : )

Actions!:
"Go go GO!" Freia yelled at the meek prisoners. If they just bring father to safety everything would be great... She figured that the thugs might be more interested in fighting for their life then stopping any escapees. Besides - apparently it was her and her friends they wanted - and her own life for that of her family was a trade she was more then willing to do. But I sure do hope I get to keep both!

And for any shot of that she and Noro needed to be the two left standing right here right now! Channelling her arcane talent into her sword she swung at the thug still reeling from her last blow - he would be too weak to dodge. With a mighty crash the icy blade collided with the unfortunate thug sending shards of ice, frozen blood and glass? spraying everywhere.

To Hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Damage: 1d8 + 7 + 2 + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 + (5) + 4 = 22

Swift to use Arcane Strike, Standard to Initiate Broken Mirror Strike; Target must make a DC 17 Ref save (@-2 from Aura of Misfortune and -1 from the earlier fatigue)

Moving for the intermediate and most obvious treat Freia steps up next to Noro. With a quick spell her sword once more radiates freezing cold and jagged shards of ice form along the edge. An edge which she does her uttermost to connect with their foes in one savage sweep.

Damage?: 1d8 + 7 + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 7 + (2) + 4 = 19

Allright! Let's do this! Seeing that her trick of fire didn't seem to faze anyone but herself Freia gathered herself for another try. Stepping up behind Noro she cast an quick invocation and directed a handful of sparkling snowflakes towards the thugs. Once they struck, they glowed brightly and started to refract the light everywhere.

5-foot step then casting Glitterdust on the thugs in front of Noro. DC is 15 will with a -2 penalty for Aura of Misfortune. Area is 10' radii circle so should be able to nab the 4 central ones at least without twilighting Noro :P

@Off topic/golem:
Mkay I haven't actually done a proper build but I've thought a bit on it. And there are some issues with the Golem but also some nice tricks. Let's start at the sucky end shall we :P?

1) Saves. Golems have crappy saves as a base, mediocre wis/dex and no con to improve.

2) Spell immunity. Most buff spells are actually stopped by this - like Haste, Freedom of Movement or Fly.

Constructs have plenty of immunities that protect them, but given the versatility of a mythic foe (Arcane Surge!), but they can just pick one of the many spells that will screw them over. The extra golem immunities helps a little (but hinders even more!) but stuff like Create Pit is almost a 1 hit KO.

3) Low Hp. Since it doesn't have a Con score the hp is noticeably lower then other things around its CR. This is a bit dangerous especially with Mythic damage output laying about.

This is sorta fixed thanks to the Collective and the golems immortality but it is worth mentioning.

Now I have focused on something to help 1) and 2) - Monk levels! They give a Ki Pool to jump really high if needed, good saves (decent if you go Unchained).

I would recommend picking up the Pummelling Style chain as well as Feral Combat Training. These together will let you throw out 5-6 attacks (depending on Unchained or not) merged together into one devastating haymaker. Note: There is an errata out on the ability that was aimed at removing weapons from Pummelling Style that may interfere with this; ask your GM nicely if it works or not :P

Otherwise I would recommend Dragon Style as well as possible (Mythic!!!) Vital Strike for hilarious squish puny adventurer moments.

Now for 3) there is actually a little something you should look up - Diehard. Not falling inactive/unconscious below 0hp has really nice synergy with not being destroyed below 0hp ever : )

Lastly I would recommend picking up as many +saves feats as possible. The improved reroll versions are really nice for a minion. Also, consider giving it Wings of Flying or something despite how easy they are to dispel and how silly it might look :P

Looks very nice. Just remember that there are some spells that can screw you over without saves (mainly, Anti-Magic Zone and a dogpile :P)

Also think of all the other intangible stuff perfectly stealable in a Mythic game, if something else fits better!

Carting them off into the woods is a tested and tried method of evil. Biggest question is then what to do with them and why. Probing : )?

You could go for the long game. Say all the people return with all their ailments cured - mostly. They just happened to have gained/lost something extra.

Perhaps a carefully planted suggestion that will only be triggered in years to come - perhaps even one inherited by their family line?

Perhaps their very ambition is borrowed from them. None of the cured ever seem to grow into great thinkers or artists or whatever - not that they mind. And in the other end, someone sits with all that raw potential do to what they wish with ...

Perhaps the healing is only accessible to those whom taken an oath of fealty? Good to have pawns, even if they are not called upon to serve now ... or in this life for that matter (ooh what a delicious soul you have!)

Perhaps they carry some engineered plague or something that, like a scalpel, culls away people or perhaps even individuals that stand in the way.

Or maybe just clones that come back - or shape-shifters grooming the world for the eventual uprising?

Just some more random thoughts to make your plotting easier/harder :P

Hmm. Yeah, lore is always tough to figure out. The first thing that comes into mind is Simic/Project Kraj of Magic the Gathering (but they are of the more druid/bioengineer blend).

Quick recap if you don't care for MtG 'plot':
There is a plane called Ravnica which is effectively one gigantic city. In the city there are nine guilds which (try to) rule/control various parts and aspects of the city.

Simic is one of them and they are one of the two guilds in charge with caring for nature. Now, being one giant city and all, nature is pretty much gone. So their goal is instead to create a stronger, more adapt, nature that can coexist with civilization. To that end they play with bioengineering/magic.

Their most significant/known technology is something called cytoplast (sp?) which basically acts as fleshy magic superglue/substitute. Got your arm eaten by a deamon? Simic can hook you up with a new. Got your eyes gouged out by a street thug? They can fix that too.

Needless to say there is quite the demand for the stuff and most people would rather pick that then trying to live without a limb.

Now the fun stuff, Experiment Kraj, is a project to awaken all that cytoplasm and merge it into one singular entity to wipe out civilization and truly begin a reign of 'nature'.

So selling cytoplasm (being nice and healing people) is merely an means to an end (fund and distribute Project Kraj).

Or steal some inspiration from Ursula (little mermaid) and only 'help' people in exchange for something you need for your evil plot!

pssst Choon! I noticed that 'create a supervillain' thread and noticed you needed some damage. Made some back-of-the-envelope (notebook really!) damage calcs for Freia with the stuff the PCs are supposed to have : )

gives a total attack routine of +40/40/40/35/30/25 (the to-hit really starts to suffer for Magis apparently) plus one Vital Strike of +40

The damage per strike is typically just 1d6+43 but the first hit also delivers a 105d6 Disintegrate (+3d6 Con) as well as the vital strike at the end (with Arcane Surge'd Disintegrate) for an extra 4d6+172 as well as 420d6 (+4d6 Con).

Assuming no crits and that all hit (probably a bard lurking around hopefully :P) it works out to an average of ~2300 damage (+24.5 Con).

I'm fairly sure devious PCs can pile some extra bonuses to that (spell-storing certainly). A really mean person would probably just pick 6 levels of Magi for the Spellstrike /w other list Arcana and find a nicer touch to work with!

(or use the Myrmidarch/*newer magic archer* archetype and mix it up with the usual archery tricks [then you can use Augmented Disintegrate for that sweet sweet extra ray!)

Edit: above should include MPower Attack.

Bonus:
Magus (Myrmidarch) 18 / Eldritch Knight 10 / VMC Fighter (for an extra +2 damage/to hit, probably negligible really but the synergy is so nice!)

To recap the quick plan:

1) get Z under the veil of Invisibility to find the cure and with a bit of luck - steal some.

2) get 'hungry prisoners' to escort our prisoners out, hopefully without eating them or something. We will utilize Newt's home as a gathering point (poor guy).

3) create big great distraction to facilitate 2) and our own continued existence. Freia is thinking that lighting the place on fire will sufficiently alter the priorities of the nearby thugs (hopefully without burning down the city or mentally scaring Freia too much).

Thoughts?

(Also all that talking probably takes more then 6 sec, so Noro has plenty of time to interject something or simply beat up the thug a bit more for good measure :P)
