Honestly guys... sorry to admit.. I'm not really feeling Fenn right now. I've had some real disappointments in the Paizo Site games of late.. among other things in my life as it stands. One campaign~ Curse of the Crimson Throne; I'd been playing for almost 7 years the DM just lost interest in running and I'm really bummed... Asherick Whiteplume... I wrote a titanic amount for that character and it all been for nothing as the game ended before we finished the AP... I'm tired.

The same DM was also running a Legacy of Fire Game; that I was thoroughly enjoying and did a large amount of characterization in my writing in playing my Silena Dulare... and she stopped running that too... so I'm really feeling burned out and burned with all the high quality writing I've done for both games for nothing...

I just don't have the energy to put into my writing like I used to when I'm not thoroughly invested int eh character's story AND inspired! Don't get me wrong I love playing Fenn.. but right now.. I'm just not in the mood to invest in his story as I'm not really feeling inspired.

I was also in another pbp game at a site called Rpol {role-play Online } , and another two games I was really invested in just ended as well and all my writing again wasted... so I'm feeling a real burnout here.

Add to the fact in no small part that Fenn is only 1st level... and I'm tired of low-level when I've been playing mid to high level capable characters... I've simply lost my interest muggling-on through low-level crap with a mostly incompetent character. Not anything against you... its on me.. MY character just does not interest me enough with the story as it stands. Just lost my interest.. and suffering from serious writer burnout.

So for now.. I'm just going to withdraw from this game... sorry to do this to you.. but I'm just not motivated to be invested in the game ...

...And then give the 'forest' Troll's{?}... body a once-over, looking for any valuables or weapons ...perhaps even clues on the corpse before dragging it away from the party so as to not attract nocturnal scavengers to the party while they wait for him to find a suitable campsite...

The moment is brief but clearly the young half-elf dearly cares for the safety of his battle companions... his emotions held near the surface..

Then casting a grateful gaze at Gird, "..An Thank ya Gird.. your healing is savin' us! If ya' require a donation ta' your Faith.. I'll ante up!"

Oh.. THAT... yes.. Fenn sees it healing itself... so he figures blades are not enough.. something else must be used.. he has no acid.. but he has used fire to kill undead his favored enemy when his blades did not work.

{sheepish grin}... yeah drawing a item from a belt pouch does provoke... I had meant to buy a bandoleer in town just for such a purpose so I could pull potions without provoking THAT and a lot more gear but it seemed as if the town was not really a trading post and with the end of year time issues in real life I didn't get back to it and it slipped my mind... until I realized I'd missed it. Honestly I was hoping on being out of reach... as my LOCAL DM pushes that two diagonals is 15'ft so HARD up our backsides I just thought I was safe more or less. 'shrug'.

...and honestly.. pitting the party against a creature that can one shot any of us in one blow is a little unfair for only the second combat encounter and STILL at first level~ particularly when its a 'random encounter' and not a sub-boss fight of any real note {the monster is just that.. not even having a 'name'}. Especially when its a known fact we have no healers... but I guess our DM wants some fatalities. What can we do but endure it?!?

No. Your first and Only 5'ft square of Movement does not count... you can always move a 5'ft step without provoking.. and Fenn only moved one square! If Fenn had move two squares that would have been 10'ft of movement and provoked.

Its not player vs character knowledge EVERY warrior knows this stuff, its basic tactics. The Question was weather Fenn was still within reach of the large creature.

Technically it should not provoke as moving two diagonals is 15'ft in movement ~ not 10'ft.. therefore I'm out of reach.

Fenn did not throw alchemist fire at the creature because alchemist fire inflicts splash damage at all targets within 5'ft of the target creature... ALL OF YOU.. and the already negative and stabilized Darra... large creatures are a b~+&#.. but they are easier to flank!

Fenn frowns seeing Darra fall grievously wounded... and his heart feels relief seeing Gird's swift thinking and innate magic stop her wounds from bleeding... but also his keen half-elven eyes notice the wounds on the beast healing...

...and a fiery light of flickering emerald flames of his determination flash in his pretty eyes for the briefest of moments and he makes a choice.

Fenn steps back to a diagonal from the beast's claws and maw.. and tosses his alchemical silver shortsword into the ground point down and pulls from his belt pouch one of the flasks of alchemist fire he... 'claimed' from the apprehended bandits ... popping the stopper with his thumb.. he anoints his cold iron longsword with the flaming liquid with a flourish of the blade... the flames igniting the sword and his hand with splash of the liquid But Fenn does not seem to notice his burning hand as gripping the blade in both hands he prepares to strike the beast again... his eyes blazing with emerald fires of unyielding determination...!

This is part cinematic part combat shrewdness and foreshadowing Fenn's future.. he is going to be elementalist Fire specialist Wizard next level and flames are not his enemy.. the references I've made on occasion when he is in extreme emotional duress of emerald flames in his eyes have NOT been just 'flowery' descriptions.. but Literal.. HE is magical.. and just does not realize it, yet. He did not want to throw the flask into melee and risk hitting his allies especially Darra who is helpless until Gird can pull her back from risk {-4 shot into melee.. bad idea at this level}. Technically a diagonal square two away is actually 15'ft.. out of the creature's 10'ft reach... but I'll leave that to the DM to adjudicate. If the GM is willing I'd like to inflict an additional 1d4 {fire} damage for the next two rounds with the flaming longsword {aheh..also foreshadowing.. Fenn is eventually going to enchant a flamtoungue longsword of his own crafting}.. with Fenn suffering 1 point of fire damage like splash damage for both rounds [2hps damage]. Normally, Alchemist fire does 1d6 {fire} damage for two rounds and does 1point of damage on splash... and since its only on his sword and not on the beast drop it by a dice catagory and no chance of setting the best on fire as most of the liquid is being wasted by Fenn to keep from hurting his friends but suffering damage himself?}

Check your position on the map.. your like behind Andreas... waay far away from Derra. you'd have to move a minimum of 45'ft... and take an AoO, AND wait for Derra to move close enough to threaten the creature.. she is within reach of HIM..but he is not in reach of her so she does not threaten him..and thus cannot provide flank to anyone as yet.

In either case you'd still be moving more than 5'ft and could only make a single standard action - attack not a full round attack action... which IS required to make a two weapon attack as well.

Fenn looks at the job board ... and does something unexpected. Pausing he reaches into his belt pouch pulling out a scroll tubes and some parchment.. with a pieces of colored chalk makes a note of all the jobs... then rolling up the list returns it to the scroll tube and stows the scroll tube back in his belt pouch.

Without further word Fenn spurs his horse on going back to the tracks he had been following .. Ranging ahead of the party to occasionally look for the tracks again as a double-check.. but mostly following the coarse known to all to get to the Thorncamp lair of the Bandits. Fenn is seeking to cut as much time as possible off their traveling duration!

At some point along the way.. as they travel... Fenn is cutting a few branches here and there to wrap with his peasants leg wrapping {he's never worn} around the haft of his shiny mithril bow so it does not glint in the light for better stealth in the forest...

Fenn gets an expression of mixed emotions on his face and sighs...

Fenn makes his way back to Jengo's grave... and there resting on the loam is the Holly King's Mithril Bow and a fresh bundle of wild flowers.

Fenn kneels beside the grave and does not speak to Sir Andreas but begins a spoken prayer...

"Mah Dearest goodess DESNA.. Ah ask you hear mah prayer and see to it tha' Jengo.. wherever his spirit resides gets may heartfelt thoughts. Ah real sorry ah took yur life mistah Jengo.. t'was not mah intent, especially against a man who was jus' runnin' away. Ah'm sure Ah'll carry tha' shame the rest o' mah days! Mah pap is tha' kinda man who would kill a person without regret... if'n he even is mah pap.. don' rightly know nowadays... but Ah've always tried to be..a bettah man than him...and it powerful grieves meh to think.. ah might be jus' like him... kill a man out o' hand ~ like Ah did you mistah Jengo. Ah fear that tha most o' anything! Fenn gently reins in his horse... and looking back over his shoulder shrugs and turns the horse back inside to amble back over to the party. He dismounts.. but does not meet anyone's gaze... and waits.

He respectfully listens to Sir Andreas... taking in his assessment of the situation, casting a gaze once at the leaving Adwoa.. as she takes custody of the prisoners and leads them away...

He is stirring the dirt of the courtyard with a toe when Sir Andreas asks if any have more to add...

He waits a few seconds then speaks up..still not meeting anyone's gaze, "Ah...seen tha' place on tha' map.. Mistah Happs said was their camp yesterday. But you also said, he was a hardened criminal and not ta' be trusted! It's part o' why Ah stopped listenin' ta' him... or tha other crooks... those left alive~ anyways..."

Shrugging, "...so how's we suppos' ta' know tha' ain't jus' anothah lie?"

Squinting, he looks up briefly and comments, "...Ah was gonna head out a little ahead and seek out tha' site checking for tracks ta' make sure their trail leads back to an actual camp. Happs said they was expected mayhap's two days from now... what if'n he was lying bout tha' too?"

"Ah figured it best ta' find tha' camp sooner than ta find out later... when ~ we thinks we got more time; tha' it was all lies and there's nothin' there at all!"

He shrugs again... "jus' seemed ...cautious ta' meh.. tha' longer Ah waits ta' track them back to where they really come from ..tha' less chance Ah have of actually finding' out if'n it's tha' truth... or more lies."

Looking down tha' road at the now distant Adwoa.. and her charges he shrugs again, "An with Adwoa takin' them all away.. we got no chance ta' make 'em fess up should it all be jus' lies... best get after their camp right now... even if not ta' do anythin' but scout it jus' ta' find it ~ so we know where ta' strike."

Fenn grimaces at Gird's Question... raising a hand his voice almost a whisper, "ah'm a fair shot with a bow... ", is all he says.. but ...

It is now quite obvious as a longbow is a large weapon... and the gift of the Holly King's bow that was given to Fenn made of Mithril and decorated with emeralds is not on his person or strapped to the saddle of his horse.

Fenn was already convinced the plan was to leave on the next day because the camp was far enough away that we'd need time to get there. So he's heading out its clear to everyone that's paying attention he seems to believe its time to get to doing it.. not dallying around town anymore. And I seriously doubt that with THAT tracking roll the party will beat him there, but he is young and eagar to get started. If no one stops him or asks him where he's going what he plans on doing.. he's going to leave and start scouting for the Thorn Campsite.

As the other focus on their interrogations with the un-recalcitrant Wulf, Fenn takes the opportunity to quietly slip out mounting his chosen horse to begin trying to follow the Bandit's tracks back to their lair.

All read up.. finally! :)

Fenn is a little lost in what he tries to make as hidden as possible... his personal grief over killing the man Jengo. Sure Fenn had been in a fight or two before.. sometimes even ones in which he killed a goblin or a undead wandering skeleton... or a rabid bear... always to protect other from harm the innocent peaceful folk living in his home town. He'd even beat the stuffens out of a few local toughs and bullies who were making sport of those weaker then them... but it had never come to a point where any had the willingness to fight to the death and he'd never had to use lethal force.

And that is what bothered him the most... the man he had struck down had been running trying to get over the wall not actually fighting... sure Fenn had not tried to kill him, it was not his intention to take the man's life... but Fenn could still see the death freshly he had caused.. his stab caught Jengo off guard and he was reaching up for the next rung on the ladder and Fenn's blade pierced him under the arm and his grip slipped causing him to fall Fully onto the sword piercing much deeper than Fenn had EVER intended! He was dead before his even hit the ground...

Fenn was not crying... it was a fight and Jengo would have potentially hurt others... but Fenn was still ashamed to show his face to his fellow adventures... of all the others HE was the only one to actually take a life int he fight...

And all his words of 'mercy' and 'redemption' all seemed to ring hollow in his ears ...with fresh blood of a man's life upon them. The mithril bow across his knees a gift from the 'Holly King' seems even more shamful in his hands... and twice he ponders throwing it away... but refrains from doing so... out of respect for the the Spirit of giving's intention...how was he to know Fenn was likely unworthy of such a gift?

He knows he could not have known the man would slip or that he intended to kill... but it still made him sad and feel ashamed. But that was not the dark truth of it in entirety...

Deep in his heart he feared... to his VERY core that maybe he WAS like his Father~ Fenn 'The Sr'.. his pap was a cruel and brutal man... used to beating Fenn whenever he got into his cups and Fenn was within reach.

"Am Ah.. jus' like pap? Ah spent all mah life tryin' ta' be a bettah man than him... am Ah jus' foolin' mahself? An what does all tha' mean if'n pap is human and mom whoever she was was clearly elven? Was pap even mah dad.. or was someone even worse mah mom? I jus' don' know.. who am Ah.. anymore?"

The stress of it is too much for the young half-breed... to face the others with his heart in so much turmoil.

But he does visit Jengo's grave and places fresh flowers on the marker uttering a prayer to DESNA and offering an heartfelt teary apology to the dead man's spirit with hopes he rests in peace and Fenn promises to pay whatever he deserves for killin' Jengo at the feet of PHARASMA someday when his time comes! Fenn ... leaves the mithril bow at Jengo's grave.

Downtime:
Still feeling ashamed at his killing Fenn spends his time alone his inner guilt bothering him.. he knows he needs something to do with his hands... so Fenn begins work on gathering materials to forge himself a Elven Curve Blade.

Fenn begins saddling a horse for travel... one way or another he is leaving today to track the bandits lair down.. he dare not wait another day for the tracks to get too old. He knows nothing of the interrogations going on.

When the Troop of Brevoy soldiers arrive Fenn is just leading his horse outside ready to mount up.. 'caught' as it were "redhanded" by the rest of the party as he clearly was intending to slip out unnoticed...

The handsome young half-elf youth watches as Sir Andreas speaks to the armored and battle scarred woman warrior Adwoa Idowu and cocks his head clearly curious ... probably more why he is delayed leaving. Surprised to find a woman in charge of the fighting men clearly having their respect and trust... Fenn has met never met a warrior woman in his home town.. he pauses to listen to the conversation.. which is when it is clearly evident to all Fenn was planning on leaving...

Fenn had been collecting components to craft his own bow and looking over the recovered shortswords as a possible means to melt them down and craft his own elven curve blade. Not satisfied with the performance of the 'over-the-counter' bow he used earlier that day... and always wanting to own his very own curve blade but never having had the resources to make one! But he only had crude tools to fashion the bow he wanted and no forge to do the smelting for the curve blade... it would have taken a VERY long time in either case...

All he can do is stare agog at the wondrous gift he'd received... "...golly, t-thanks!"

When Andreas speaks up Fenn listens but cocks a head regarding Annurian's comments... then shrugs, "Ah'm kinda in the same mind as Annur' here.. a man has ta' follow his own morale compass... Ah also don't mind playing with a team effort.. but not sure as we need someone perse in charge.. we are all mostly responsible adults, meh being on the young side o' it.
