Hey folks, sorry for the extended absence. It's been a combination of work stress and in-person GM'ing commitments, but I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything going on in my life. I'd thought - I'd hoped - that things would blow over in a week and I'd fall back into the swing of things, but it's just not happening and it's not fair to everyone else in this game to have me "here-but-not-here". I need to withdraw.

I wish you all the best of luck with the game, and it has been wonderful playing with you even for the little time I had. May the fates (and the dice) be ever in your favor!

"Felix, most recently of Khar Maga." The old man bows to the gnome and smiles gently. "The Lady of Fates led me here, and it is my path to follow this to its end. It looks like that end might be this way." He gestures after Izumi. "Shall we?"

Felix takes a step back and slides another bolt into his crossbow. Carefully he takes aim, and fires!

Just a reminder that the Will save doesn’t halve the damage from Felix’s channel (it’s already halved) - it only negates the penalty to d20 rolls.

Felix steps back and raises his carved spiral in the air once more. “Fate has decreed your time is past!”

Felix raises his crossbow hurriedly and lets the bolt fly at the goblin before retreating into the room. “They’re here,” he says unnecessarily.

Felix steps to the doorway and holds out the carved wooden spiral. "Those who dared attack Sandpoint, know that fate has decreed your time is up!" A wind, chill as a grave, whirls around him and through the room.

"Goblin attack? It's unusual for them to be so bold as to attack a city in the middle of a festival, isn't it?" Felix frowns, rubbing the wooden spiral around his neck absentmindedly. "Did anyone find out why they did it? It cannot be coincidence for those events both to happen together."

Not sure where the name came from to be honest. XD

Felix nods and smiles as he sets his bowl on the table. "Rooke and Dart, and I didn't catch that last name." He glances at the seated woman across the table. "Or is there some other title you wish to be addressed as? Pharasma may judge us, but I will not." He chuckles softly at the joke, inviting the others to join in.

"I sought to attend the dedication of the cathedral during the festival, but it seems fate had other plans for me. Were you there? I would love to hear about the ceremony."

The man smiles warmly at the proprietor as she places the steaming bowl on the table. "Many thanks." His rich voice is soft and pleasing to the ear. "For your trouble - and if I might ask, do you know if the cathedral is open to the public? It seems I was not meant to arrive for its dedication." A silver coin passes from his hand to Bethana's before she takes her leave.

Slowly the man's gentle gaze drifts around the room between spoonfuls of stew. Mutton - and fine mutton at that, he thinks to himself, eyes crinkling in merriment. I would have thought more clergy would still be here from this Swallowtail Festival... Hmm? His gaze pauses for a moment on trio sitting near the window. His eyes squint. Is that... too colorful to be anything else. And the mug... yes.

Slowly the man rises, bowl held in both hands as he approaches the group. "A pleasant evening to you." He bows slightly, and the polished wooden spiral hanging around his neck twists freely for a moment before falling back against his shirt. "Is there room at your table for another of the gods' faithful? I am Felix, follower of the Lady of Mysteries."

Apologies for the delay everyone - we're still trying to emerge from the sea of boxes that has taken over the new apartment. XD

Felix is a buff/debuff channeler build with some summoning built into his Herald Caller archetype. Profile should be up to date, but feel free to say something if there are any questions or concerns. I've played through most of the first book of the adventure, but it was many moons ago and I'm uncertain how much of the book we accomplished.

And many thanks to GM Anthorg for the invitation!

Alright, backstory written up! Let me know if you want more details on the mechanics of Felix's build, though some details are dependent on feedback (see end of post). I have played through most of the first book, but our GM had to back out for health reasons and the game folded shortly thereafter.

Background:
Few in the small town of Ilsurian were surprised when the son of a shepherd and a weaver took the name Wollson. “It’s because he’s always helping his mother with the flocks,” the old ladies would say as they gathered near the well and slowly winched up the bucket from the depths. “He spends so much time out there he might as well be a sheep himself.”

“Probably a ram, from how stubborn he is!”

“No! He’s soft as a lamb - remember how Gertle slipped and broke her arm last spring and the boy walked her home and she was out in her garden the next day as if nothing had happened?”

“You’re conveniently leaving out how the store where she fell was closed for a week after that little accident. They went out of business, they did, and I just know that he had something to do with it!”

“Or when he helped deliver the Maulkin girl’s twins! Midwife thought all three were goners, but it was the good-for-nothing father that didn’t survive the night instead. Not that I miss the bastard, mind you - not after what he did to my poor cats.”

“Probably just some cheap trick the boy picked up from that travelling priest. Wasn’t she some kind of devil-binder or hex-crafter? Honestly, he can’t learn to leave well enough alone.”

“You’ve got that right!”

The old men would laugh and take another puff from their pipes, the smoke curling around their faces in lazy spirals. “It’s because he takes after his father, you know. Not everyone has what it takes to be a master weaver.”

“You don’t think...”

“No, I don’t think so. It’s downright generous of him to give the widows those black veils after he gives their husbands their last rites. You know as well as I do that he doesn’t make a copper from them. You’re just mad Gertle thinks he’s better looking than you are.”

“Am not!”

---------------------------------

Felix hasn’t heard the gossip in many years, having been caught in the wanderlust that eluded his parents. It led him first to Kaer Maga, where he learned ways to put the dead at ease and tend to the newly-born from the acolytes of the Godsmouth Ossuary. But the City of Strangers is home to more faiths than just Pharasma - he learned drinking songs of Cayden Caelian, how to make solid investments like Abadar, how to see both sides of an issue simultaneously as Nethys does. And yet through each lesson from another faith he learned to see the threads of fate, the tangled skein that weaves not only history, but destiny.

But even the Asylum Stone’s wonders could not hold him forever. After a dispute with a priestess of Urgathoa turned violent, Felix voluntarily left Kaer Maga. He wandered without a destination for a time, trading healing hands and warm blankets for food and a place by a hearth each night. Perhaps this too was destiny. Or perhaps it was merely a coincidence when a fisherman mentioned a new cathedral in the village of Sandpoint, and a festival to celebrate its consecration. Either way, Felix felt himself drawn to the town by a need to return the balance of… something. Trusting the Mistress of Fate, he took the leap of faith and set off the next morning for the western coast.

Appearance and Personality:
An older man with white streaks in his hair and beard leans on a walking stick watches those around him with keen eyes unclouded by age. A spiral symbol hangs from his neck, seeming to spin and swirl as the man shifts from foot to foot.

Mechanics:
Felix is focused on channeling energy and summoning planar allies. He’d like to use the Variant Channel abilities to debuff enemies and strengthen allies, as well as potentially move creatures with Forceful Channel. He’ll also start to summon extraplanar creatures to aid him as he grows in power, showing a preference for Pharasma’s psychopomp attendants and servitors. Outside of combat, Felix is a charismatic and well-spoken individual who is as comfortable speaking with a monarch as an assassin.

Questions for the GM:
- Pharasma is the goddess of Fate, yet when she was introduced in the CRB there was no Fate subdomain. Would you be willing to let Felix take the Fate subdomain, or perhaps combine the Herald Caller and Separatist archetypes for one domain at an effective -2 level?
- Are you planning (or at least open) to pass out PFS Chronicle Sheets to players who ask for them at the conclusion of each AP volume?

Dotting in! Felix is a channel-focused Herald Caller of Pharasma seeking to restore balance to... something. He's uncertain what exactly that might be, but he knows the Lady of Mysteries reveals all as fate as decreed.

Well, I have a PFS-legal evangelist cleric I could swap in for Felix. More support, more damage, less debuff. Zelphar and Torrak look like they're PFS-legal already, so we'd just have to adjust Merritt's race and then could probably carry on as if nothing had happened.

What say you?

Felix carefully makes his way inside to stand next to Torrak. "How do they live in this mess," he grumbles as he shifts and slides on the disaster-strewn ground.

Double move

Is this a fresh eagle or the same one from before? I thought they could only Smite one target a day.

Felix steps closer and touches Torrak. "The fates are watching out for you," he says with a smile, and Torrak feels a little bit luckier!

5 ft step and guidance.

Felix strides forward, placing a hand on Merritt's shoulder as he passes. "Fate watches out for you," he says, and Merritt feels more confident.

Casting guidance.

GM, would you prefer each roll on its own line? I know I sometimes mistake a damage roll for an attack roll if they're on the same line. Or maybe you'd like us to add something like so:

Example wrote:
Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 -> Damage roll: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

...to make a visual difference between the two rolls?

Felix moves closer, but the entrance is too crowded for him to get close enough to heal Torrak or provide guidance to Merrit.

Just a move action - this goblin doesn't seem worth a bird and a channel

Looks like there might have been a typo in that damage roll - if the goblin dog does a d26 of damage on its bite, we might want to leave while we can.

Also, did Torrak's readied action and AoO happen? Would that have changed anything?

GM, if you're ready to move forward Merritt has given permission to bot aggressively rather than wait (see above post).

"Just take care not to get too far ahead - even the mightiest warrior can find themselves overwhelmed if they become surrounded," Felix counsels.

Felix will follow as per the Marching Order in the slides.

Granted, if we think there's goblins around it could honestly be either. Or both.

Felix is fine to be in the middle of the party. He's not very heavily armed, but it's the easiest place to channel or buff people.

Also, I added a slide to the handouts so we can put our icons in ideal marching order.

"An excellent plan," Felix agrees. "Fate willing, we may evade their notice." He keeps his eyes peeled for goblins as well.

Biggest concern is to not slow down things too much with random encounters - PbP can take a long time just from the nature of the medium.

Felix nods approvingly at Torrak, then addresses the elf. "Indeed, it certainly looks that way," he replies. "Do you hail from the north?"

"I am here to restore the Weave to its natural flow here," he says to Torrak. "If I cannot reach the root of the problem, I cannot fix it - therefore, if need be I can tip the scales back in our favor from time to time that I might best support everyone."

Mechanically, he's here to buff through spells and debuff through channels.

"The weaver of fate informed me she wanted me her and she wanted me to right the wrongs contained within," Felix calmly answers Torrack. "If that is to be my fate, all I can do is make the most of it."

"And what of you, Merritt?" he says to the tiefling. "What brings you to the spire?"

An older man with white streaks in his hair and beard leans on a walking stick watches those around him with keen eyes unclouded by age. A spiral symbol hangs from his neck, seeming to spin and swirl as the man shifts from foot to foot.

He greets the dwarf pleasantly. "Are you bound for the Spire as well?"

So it'll be the difference between fast summons from the occultist and easy communication with summons from the cleric. Good to have options!

Felix has to be true neutral and will be fine with most things as long as we destroy any undead we find and don't create any ourselves. Thought about worshiping Rhombodazzle for domains and portfolio, but Fateful Channel is too good to give up. So Pharasma it is! GM, any word on the Fate subdomain and Luck variant channel?
