Understandable, GM! I agree that I'd rather keep one game going than lose both of them. Do you guys want me to scrap Fargrim in a blaze of glory and work on a Hex-base character or just keep Fargrim as is? I'm quite enjoying him, but I also like party cohesion and therefore do not mind switching things up if that is what we all decide.
Either way, GM, you have my support for sure! I would be okay with us taking a short hiatus if that is what you would like to do as well. I recently suffered a bit of GM burnout and needed to take a little bit of time from my own games to get refreshed and back into the swing! As far as retaining... I cannot really see Fargrim as any kind of caster or Hex-based character, especially with his mental stats the way they are lol. That said I could consider making a new PC that is a Hexblade Magus if we really would like to go that route.
I am in complete agreement with Johara. You did a phenomenal job with this game and keeping it very fun. As I mentioned in the other thread, I wish you the best, GM. I like this crew as well and would support the decision to seek a new GM if that is our decision.
I'm here as well, just trying to get caught up with everything at work during the last few days of being back. I like Sandman's plan, we need some plunder!
Hey all, I will be heading to Florida for a week starting tomorrow morning. Normally I would have my work computer with me, but I have to leave with our IT guys for some much needed tinkering. I'll have my phone with me, but I may not have much time for posting. If you need to GMPC my character during this time, that is okay.
Fargrim simply watches in silence as the captains formulate their plans.
Fargrim will spend the time on shore checking the crew's arms and armor to ensure they are up to snuff. If anyone is in need of better weapons or armor, he will approach the captains with a request for coinage to provide such items. He will make it clear that should they encounter the undead ship, they will need every advantage they can muster.
Okay, I think the boards are finally stable. Fargrim is still here and ready to continue!
Fargrim's keen sight spots the strange ship as it sails passed suddenly. "The Deathknell! I heard tales of that ghost ship and it's captain, Whalebone Pilk. Superstitious folk say he and his crew sail the seas in search of sailors to feast upon and fuel the ship. They also claim that the ship only attacks on its third sighting." Fargrim shakes his head and gathers the crew to give a little inspirational speech. "Now, I've seen enough in this world to know that there might be some truth to the crew being undead of some form or another. It's a good chance he uses these legends to his advantage to create fear in his enemies. So, we should be aware that she may be hunting us now. The fog and bells would be a distraction to make hardened men and women give into the chaos of fear. We, however, will not give in to such nonsense. We are the Covenant! We do not give into fear, we sow it among our enemies. Should this vessel attack, we will be prepared and ready! We are no meek prey, we are the predators!" Afterward he gathers the captains together. "It is likely that either the Deathknell creates this fog or simply utilizes it to their advantage. Should we encounter more fog while tethered, we should have all hands on deck and prepared for a fight."
Fargrim will spend some time with the new warriors they picked up from the island to get them outfitted with armor and weapons. "You boys did well, you listened and adapted. That is good, some folks let themselves get drawn into the taunts. You gave into the fury and the rage, but you still allowed it to help you and not hurt you. If you want to learn more, I can teach you. You have potential to be good warriors. I'm the fiercest bastard on the Covenant. Stick with me and I'll show you glory or vengeance if that is what you prefer."
Fargrim looks around with wary eyes for a moment, blood pouring freely from several knife wounds. Once he realizes that fight was over, he slips out of his bloodrage and falls to a knee, breathing heavily. He looks over the three unconscious warriors and stands as he turns to Sandman. "Heal these men, they fought well." He glances to Johara. "Bring some drinks, they will need it to drink away the headache that is about to come." He will shoo away any healing until the three warriors have been healed and are back on their feet.
Fargrim grunts with the impact of the blade, gritting his teeth against the pain of metal scraping against bone. Blood is now freely pouring from his numerous wounds, but the bloodfury has him now! Instead of trying to distance himself, Fargrim leans in around the young warrior's waist in a bear-hug and drives his knee up into the man's groin with fierce determination!
Fargrim continues to ignore the numerous wounds that are taking their toll upon his body. As the warriors recovers from his attack, Fargrim lunges forward and slams his forehead hard into his torso!
Whoops, I meant the NPCs shipmates, haha! I like the relationship we have as PCs; its tightknit in that we just each other in our vengeance against Harrigan and our want of freedom to make our own choices. That is something Fargrim values the most right now. I also like how none of us are really 'traditional' pirates.
Actually, Fargrim doesn't get any DR until 7th level, but he would turn down the offer of the Fortune. If they are able to best him, so much the better in his mind, because that means they are not completely incompetent! Either way, he will absolutely drink them into a stupor after wounds have been tended. *EDIT* In fact, OOC I kind of hope they are able to beat him. I'm hoping that Fargrim will be able to form a sort of bond with these three, because right now he doesn't have much of a bond with any of the other shipmates. I really like the idea of these three becoming Fargrim's boarding partners and leading them into a fight with all them in a rage. The vision makes me smile.
Fargrim, now deep into his own form of rage, does not seem to notice the open wounds and blood streaking down his arms. As the warrior draws the bleed from his flesh, Fargrim strikes out with an uppercut to the chin!
Fargrim grins as the blades of the daggers sink into the flesh of his forearms. He roars in raucous laughter. "Yes! That's it, boys! Let go of the fear." He recognizes the glazed look of rage in their eyes and follows suit, dropping the ever-present barrier to his own bloodline powers. "Let the rage guide your strikes. It's yours to command, it doesn't command you!" With that he strikes out suddenly, connecting his mighty fist into the solar plexus of one of the warriors!
Fargrim throws the axe down in disgust. "It's no wonder your families were taken! You couldn't even cut down a tree standing still!" Throwing caution to the wind, the slightly insane dwarf starts throwing punches against the armed opponents.
Fargrim sighs exasperatedly as he once again dodges nearly all the blows, once manages to land, but his armor turns the blade. "Come now, is this the best you can manage?!" He roars in challenge and once again swings the axe with the flat of the blade towards the same warrior.
Fargrim lets out a wild laugh at he dodges around the blades. "Not good enough! Work as a team, not as individuals. Surround your opponent, don't give them anywhere go!" With that, he suddenly draws his boarding axe and with a brutal strike he swings the weapon towards one of the young men, using the flat of the axe head to avoid any serious damage.
He rubs his hands together in anticipation and grins wickedly. "Alright, Captain, I do enjoy a good challenge. Give them yet another reason to be wary of me!"
Fargrim stands, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand and looks over the men with an appraising eye. "You all can fight, yeah?" He looks them each in the eye before glancing back towards the elder to translate. In the meantime he calls over his shoulder to Sandman. "Sandman, check out their wounds and work your mojo. I want to test their mettle."
Fargrim rubs his hands together at the mention of food. "Do you have anything fresh? Perhaps a celebratory feast in our honor, eh?" He is looking revitalized after the fatigue of the battle upon the ships.
Fargrim mostly remains silent during the discussion about the fate of the Chelish captain; however, his views align closer to that of Nivian and Johara. "Agreed, let those Devil-worshiping scum come to fear our sails and the Covenant! I despise their arrogance, reminds me too much of home and their ridiculous rules of honor and tradition."
Fargrim grins as he removes all the captain's weapons from him and starts shoving across the planks. "Move! Who else is aboard?"
Fargrim lets out a sudden, maddened-laugh at the thud of the manticore succumbing to his Captain's magics. He turns his attention to whistling captain of the vessel and grins. "No escape, Captain. Surrender to us and survive. Or die like your men there." He jerks his head towards the numerous fallen pirates. He slowly approaches the Captain, twirling his dorn-dergar around and sends blood, bits of brain matter and bone flinging in all directions to emphasize his point.
Fargrim turns to glance at the manticore on the deck before twirling his dorn-dergar around and letting the heavy ball fly towards the remaining sailor standing before him! He was never one to leave an enemy at his back...
Fargrim gives into the raging song of battle that Nivian weaves with her words and swings his ancient dwarven weapon about, smashing into two of the injured sailors with a sickening crack! He takes a step back and stretches out the length of chain with a humorless smile.
Fargrim looks down at the bolt in his arm as if it were nothing more than a bee sting. He methodically wraps his chain around his forearm and begins moving towards the other ship, preparing to crush more heads. "Surrender now and you will live! Fight and die!" His dwarven-chain lashes out once more!
Fargrim lets out a mad cackle as the ships crash together, maintaining his foothold. "Now this is a worthy foe!" Suddenly that mad grin slips from his face and before the enemy across the chasm can even react to the strange shift, Fargrim's dorn dergar streaks out and smashes hard into the face of the sailor!
Fargrim readies his dorn-dergar into Reach mode and prepares to strike at the winged beast if it comes into range of his weapon...
Fargrim cheers when he spies the ship turning for a fight. "Alright lasses and lads! Looks like we're going to have a real fight this time! Grab your weapons and your hooks! Don't forget your boarding axes! If you fall, it'll be the only thing might keep you from a bloody date with a shark! Get to it!" He bellows with a mad grin upon his face, while rubbing his hands together gleefully. "One last thing! Those that surrender are to be given full quarter! They might have reliable information on the fortifications of that island!"
"Aye Captain!" Fargrim rushes to aid, but his heart is more set upon the pending fight than his duties...
Fargrim rubs his hands together in excitement. "I hope this lot has less cowards aboard. I'm itching for a good fight."
"I'm in agreement with Sandman. Although, if there are fortifications upon the island and the ship has communications with them... we may lose our opportunity for the island plunder. Either way its a risk and I say we take the ship first. We don't want to risk it coming back while our fighters on are away."
Fargrim spits once more onto the deck and retrieves his weapon. "Next time I suggested you raise a fight against someone looking to take your ship. We could've just as easily killed you all and sunk this boat. Aye, you're free to go." With the nod from Sandman, Fargrim orders the boarding party to gather all the booty and disembark. "Let's move! Wasting daylight here!"
I would be perfectly okay with Rhemus making a return.
Fargrim looks over their captives with a sneer. "Give up without a fight, eh? You're lucky we don't take slaves, you spineless whelps! I would ask if any of you have the steel to join our crew, but I don't believe any of you even have a bit of iron in ya! Go back to your catch!" He spits on the deck and cracks his knuckles as he lays his dorn-dergar in a line of the deck. "Any of you that think you've got what it takes, step over that chain and prove it to me." His face cracks into a mad grin.
Fargrim grins and starts bellowing orders. "You heard the Captain! Gather your gear and prepare yourself for a fight! Move out you lazy slowcoaches! Those of you not working, get below deck and sleep. And don't worry, I won't let none of yous miss the fight!" He grins, his white teeth very visible beneath the short beard, and rubs his hands together as he looks up at the taller half-orc. "Now this is going to be a good time!"
To my respective GMs and/or players, I am posting this in all my games that I'm running or involved in. I was involved in a force on force incident today during work. I cannot go into details for obvious reasons, but suffice to say no one was seriously injured. I'll be very busy with paperwork for the foreseeable afternoon/evening. If I have time later this evening, I will attempt to get caught up with my games. Otherwise, look for me tomorrow!
Glad to hear it! That she's okay that is, sucks about the tight work schedule.
"In the meantime, I'll be looking to make warriors out of our new recruits..." Fargrim puffs up his chest and begins to bellow orders. "New recruits, topside in five minutes with whatever weapons ya have on ya! Any layabouts will be taking a roll with me in the bilge! Get movin'!"
He grins. "Aye, I can always crack a few skulls too if needed."
Oooooohhhhhhhh. Yes that makes much more sense, Nivian.
Fargrim shrugs as he struggles with the heavy load. "Don't matter to me, Cap'n. Just say the word..."
Fargrim would be okay with giving the slavers the choice of death or joining our crew, but not with the slaves themselves. Considering that's what was done to him by Harrigan... Fargrim despises slavery to the fullest extent.
Fargrim nods and gets to work looking for anything he could use as a skid to drag back some of the boar meat.
Fargrim immediately takes a step back and uses his dorn-dergar to crush the skull of the nearest boar.
