Speaking of Constitution, does anyone know if CON mod boosts affect your total HP retroactively? It obviously did in PF1, but I have found nothing in the playtest to suggest it works that way.

I have a tripping Fighter in one of my campaigns. I just trip him back all the time XD

I don't see why he can't just pawn it off on someone who doesn't know any better. I f!*+ed up crafting a portable hole for an NPC a few sessions ago (it became a devouring hole, OOPS!) and lied to him about misunderstanding his instructions. I told him I'd get his money back and make the item he desired. Next time we came into port I found a magic shop and pawned it off to the first vendor who had the money for it.

Though, I suppose a Bluff check of 33 has its perks. Using Suggestion to have them roofy themselves at a bar later's also a good way of covering your tracks XD

So, I just had my GF play her first game, ever.

We decided to treat her as a new player, and not a new girl player.

It worked well.

We decided to go beginner box, and that worked well too.

She decided to go with Amiri, and smash enemies.

A lotta women will surprise you...barbarian seems to be a popular class, out of the girl gamers I've known...and they tend to play pretty hardcore, too!

My brother's wife's first character I remember was a Bbn...pretty wicked...and had the hobby of knitting. (yeah...well, hey. *shrug*)

My girlfriend's actually playing a barbarian in a game I am DMing at the moment. Before that she's played a rogue and a paladin.

She liked smashing/beheading things XD

I would say Shadow Demons as well. I'd hate to be the 4th or 5th level party that has to deal with Magic Jar >.>

My sister's DMed roughly four campaigns now and I really don't see her gender impacting her ability to GM in any way. She's not the best GM I have had, but she's certainly better than most.

OP Monk... Does... not... compute

Granted the monk was absolute garbage by herself, but she was built for party utility/tanking. Master of Many Styles combining Snake/Crane/Mantis styles and min/maxing AC, saves and Stunning Fist DC made her completely unkillable in most situations (CMD was average) and she was able to disable bosses due to excessively high Stunning Fist DC. Her hit and damage were terrible, but that wasn't the point. Picked up a team work feat with the party Rogue who was tailored to fight by my side. Paired Opportunist twk feat + Rogue talent Opportunist meant I was frequently granting her max AoO per round. She was using a single attack feint build, so with multiple AoO's per round... that's a lot of sneak attacks. There are obvious weaknesses to the build and strategy that a seasoned DM could exploit, but considering the Summor and Feral Mutagen Alchemist we had in the party... I think an unkillable monk was the least of her worries.

Best moment for the monk: At level 12 successfully stunned a CR 17 Raksasha Mystic Theurge and in the two subsequent rounds succeeded in three 7th-level spell saves. She was pretty mad about that one.

I'd imagine a drow would make a good one considering they can cast darkness as a spell-like ability. The party would have to be able to fight in darkness themselves however.

Wart?

I kind of want to make a Grippli monk. Battletoads!

In a homebrew game once my cousin rolled three attacks in a fullround. All 20's. The damage dice was 3d6 for each hit... he rolled max on all 9 damage rolls. That was an interesting night.

I'm confused. Since when could you choose the size of the specific animal you are wildshaping into? That seems to be what Jason is implying in that other thread. There are no "huge" tigers in any of the Bestiaries.

Only things I am aware of that let you deliver touch attacks with reach using Magus-specific attacks are the Lunge feat and getting enlarged.

I remember reading that you can take a free hand on and off of a weapon you are wielding as a free action.

One of my players casted Loathsome Veil on a monster during an arena battle. When I didn't roll the save for the monster he asked why and I said, "You're in an arena, half of the patrons wtaching the fight are throwing up all over the place now thanks to you. Pretty sure their HDs are much lower than the monster." :P

Always be aware of your surroundings.

My group's currently playing what we call a "roulette" campaign where we trade off GMs every adventure and its been pretty fun so far. All but one of us has GMed for this group before. As GMs none of us are strangers to playing the GM card and cheating a little bit to make the game more fun for everyone, but we never blatantly state that we are cheating the system and if a GM got a rule wrong at a player's expense we generally try to reach a compromise.

The other day our party was ambushed while we were asleep at camp (apparently NPCs make bad sentries) and I rolled a flat 3 (no ranks or WIS) on my Perception check to wake up from the sound of combat. The GM said that I had failed the roll and missed the surprise round and was automatically last on initiative. Okay, that's fine, but I didn't think a 3 was actually a failure.

Looking up the rules I quickly found that I had actually succeeded at the roll: Perception check to hear the sound of battle is a DC: -10. You get -10 to Perception checks made to hear things while asleep, therefore my roll was a -7 and beat the -10 DC. When I brought this up before the surprise round was over my GM simply said, "Nope, GMs can cheat you are asleep."

I was kind of peeved especially because he let everyone have there armor on despite no-one having Endurance, so I was really the only one being screwed over. It wasn't a huge deal as I am the healer anyway but I still have a thirst for revenge.

When it's my turn at bat I kind of want to get him back and this is where you guys come in: I need a prank to pull when I'm GMing the campaign that won't do any kind of permanent damage to his character and that blatantly breaks the rules in a situation where game mechanics and rules are important (combat is the most obvious). Something funny and tongue-in-cheek. Not something wholly malicious or detrimental to the other players.

Wow, Focused Study is really good. I will consider it for my feint/rake Rogue. He has a somewhat feat heavy build however so I will have to ponder this for a while.

If you want to gain the devilbound template you could always barter for your freedom, but that nearly guarantees an evil-shift in alignment and also nearly guarantees that your soul will be back after you die. On the other hand, you could get some nifty bonuses and you get to say you're boss is a devil. :)

Unfortunately the lich we're working for (pretender to Mammon's throne... long story) needs us specifically because we are NOT evil. We're eventually going to need to travel to very anti-evil places in order to complete our mission. This is also why we're keeping an eye on our cleric who is on the verge of becoming evil and has it in her head that summoning an oni is a good idea.

If you can find a way to get Dismissal or Banishment cast on you and the barbarian, that would technically work. I don't think many things in the Abyss naturally do that sort of thing though. I would be careful about using limited wish as your out either way. There is a costly material component to it (1500g diamond) that you may not have with you.

My Gm's okay with me being able to cast it once I'm 14th (as part of an unrelated discussion) and I think I had diamond dust already for something else. I'm not sure if devils would banish us voluntarily instead of just killing us outright... guess I could geas one.

We're 13th level (almost 14th) and at the end of the last encounter me (Raksasha bloodline Enchantment Sorcerer) and our classically dim-witted Barbarian were sent to the Abyss, separating us from the rest of our party. Thankfully I have permanent non-detect and the barbarian has some vs. evil stuff going on so we've managed to stay out of sight so far. We made a shelter and slept one night. That was the end of the session and our GM told us we'd have to figure out a way back on our own.

So what do you guys think? We're 6,000xp (a CR 12 encounter) from leveling , so the most straightforward way I can think to escape is to ambush some devils for xp and get 14th-level so I can cast limited wish and planeshift us the hell out of there. Considering it is just me and the barbarian it would be pretty damn risky but we should be able to handle at least an Ice Devil between the two of us.

If given prep time for an ambush I can buff the barb up considerably (and myself), make us both invisible since most devils don't have see invisibility, and have plenty of enchantment spells to keep enemies locked down. If we end up fighting an Ice Devil (safe bet considering its CR) I should be able to lock it down by spamming Hold Monster.

Any advice you guys can offer? I'd rather not sneak up on a very powerful devil and geas it into shifting us out if I can help it... they'd probably come at me for revenge later.
