That's when it hit Celanna. Giving her forehead a light smack, "Gods dammit, how can I be so stupid. S**t, I forgot to get directions." She looked around for someone to ask directions from.
Okay, I think you've probably guessed that this is coming, but I'm going to make it official. I'm going to close this game tonight. I've been struggling with burnout and need to step away for a while. I'm so sorry to do this to the rest of you. You've all made some amazing characters. Best of luck in your future games.
@ Zaranna - Yes, success = half damage Elyana's spell caused both Mephits to shake violently as the electricity struck each in the chest and spread throughout their bodies. Double Crit fail The Oracle's first arrow completely shot through the Mephit that sprayed pebbles at her and the Sorceress, dropping and disintegrating it. Taking careful aim at the other one engaging with Alric, she fired her second arrow and completely removed its head, pinning it to the wall. The decapitated body fell to nothingness immediately afterward. Cardren - Reminder, Trip has the Attack Trait, so MAP applies. As I just looked this up and realized it now, I will not calculate it for this set. But do keep it in mind for the future. As Cardren knocked one of the little bastards on its ass, the other one nimbly dodges his attempt. Unfortunately, he lost his balance and ended up fallen himself. Prone due to Crit Fail on the Trip attack Kicking out at the one he missed, the Monk pummeled his target to dust. Even with the -2 from Prone, you still hit it both times. One left, that's the one that Cardren knocked down. Round 2:
Secret Squirrel: Mephit 2 (vs Cardren | Prone):
Alric and Cardren, don't forget your Flat Checks due to Dim Light. Alric Flat Check vs DC 5: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Alric Flat Check vs DC 5: 1d20 ⇒ 14 Alric moved up and managed two solid hits against the one Zaranna shot. No Hunt Prey this time. Round 1: Cardren, Zaranna, Alric, Elyana, Mephits (Concealed vs Cardren and Alric due to Dim Light) Secret Squirrel: Mephit 2 (Front): -4 Mephit 3 (Wall): -18
The right guard answered, "Lanterns line the tunnels. To get to Shaft thirty-seven, you'll go straight through three intersections, turn right at the fourth, go until you come to a T junction, turn left, go past the next four junctions turn right, then left, then two rights. You should be at Shaft thirty-seven."
Any roll that has the Secret Trait (as linked above) are rolled by me. But for this, I'll roll it. Much more fun that way. The Boss looked up at Zaranna with an incredulous look, "Kristoff? This whole thing started when he disappeared in Shaft thirty-seven. Hard working lad, though I to keep a local smith from lynching him. Accusations of impropriety and all. Fiancé though? Never heard of that. Still, come inside." Ushering you inside his office, you see poor Illa in the corner trying not quiver in fear. Pulling a piece of parchment, he scribbled on it briefly then handed it to you, "That should allow you access to the mines. If you can get rid of those damned Dirt Gargoyles and get up back up into production, I'll pay you three hundred gold. Deal?"
You all seem a bit paranoid. Afraid of shadow ninjas? Lol. The dwarf takes the coin and directs you to the communal sleeping chamber. There only appears to be eight beds in this space and no one else but you sleeping there. With the watches set, you all sleep comfortably for the first time in days. Fortunately, none of you are plagued by strange dreams. Elyana and Alric:
Despite the stillness of your respective watches, you each feel as if you were being watched. Yet clearly there was no one but you in the room. The next morning came with a knock on the door.
Getting his new mug of mead the elf downed a third of it before describing the little bastards. Alric:
Based on the description Celethanak provided, you believe that these creatures are known as Earth Mephits. Small Elemental beings that are fairly strong and hearty for their size. They can also spit a large of amount pebbles from their mouths to bludgeon their enemies to death. "As ta ya brother mate, timin mostly. He disappeared in a tunnel our crew mining and a couple days later dem Dirt Gargoyles start harassin us." He finished his drink and took a couple of tries to stand. "Ya may want ta talk wit the Head Mine Boss in da mornin. Maybe he let ya in da mines." Looking at the rest of the table, "Come on crew." Leaning on a human woman that looked as though she worked the mines as well, the pair stumbled out of the tavern with the rest of the crew.
Zaranna: There are no bodies to search as they have all vaporized. Only the clothing remains and there isn't anything of value to be found.
You definitely feel magic in the area. Suspecting that your bow might resonating with magic now you block it out of your mind as you cast the spell again. You keep feeling magic with each casting, excluding yourself and another ally each time. Until all allies are excluded at which point you detect nothing.
@Zaranna - Them 'popping out' was more a flavor text than an actual movement. The Take Cover action simply upgraded their Lesser Cover to standard Cover. Think of it like the shootout in the movies where someone leans around the corner then ducks back around. Does that make sense? As the Oracle's spell flew at the leader, he knocked it out of the way with his shadowy axe. KA Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 SW1 Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Fortunately Elyana's spell managed to hit both her targets, felling the dwarf as his heart stopped from the shock. Round 2: Alric (15/32 HP), Elyana, Zaranna, Shadow Casters (Cover), Karzoon, Fel & Vei (25/32 HP), Cardren, Shadow Bowman (Lesser Cover) Secret Squirrel: Karzoon -28
So this morning I found myself thinking about the Guns and Gears book description and I thought 'What if we recreated the Planet Express crew from Futurama in PF2E?' Clearly Bender would be whatever they have for the Construct Ancestry with the Rogue Class and Professor Farnsworth would be a Human Inventor. I have own thought on the rest of the crew, but I'm curious what other people would do. Let me know below.
Not gonna lie, I've a homebrew setting that I've been working off and on in for over a year now and I came up with my own living construct ancestry. Though I haven't really tested it out yet to see how viable it is, I'm curious to see just how close I got to what Paizo comes up with. I did Orcs as well for my setting and I was surprisingly close to Paizo when they came out with their 2E Orcs, the only thing I was off with was the Ability Boosts. To be fair, even though the rules from the Guns and Gears are still subject to change, my concept of Firearms is radically different so we'll see.
Zaranna: The arm and hand are indeed yours.
You begin to accelerate towards the light, gaining speed you never thought possible. The light grows brighter as you approach. You hear the sound long before the light comes into view to confirm what your ears already made you suspect. It’s a forge, and standing at the anvil hammering away was a woman with her back to you. As you near her, she is finishing the most finely crafted blade you had ever seen. She turns and you gasp in shock as you see that this woman……….is you. Much older than you are now and far taller, like the height of a giant. Looking you up and down, she crosses her arms and gives you a glare. "You must finish that armor before she is born." Everything goes dark again and you open your eyes to see Alric waking you up for watch. End of this part of the dream.
Alric:
You find nothing in the pockets. But what you do find is a very familiar mark on one of the bowmans wrist. This archer however is much older, possibly mid-thirties.
Elyana:
As you look at the Elf, you do not recognize them, but you do recognize the mark on the wrist. It's the same one that Kristoff had received back in The Piper's lair. Peyra was in Chet's arms absolutely shaking with fear and tears streaming down her face. The groom looked at the Elf, "Thanks Elyana, could you...... could you and Cardren stay with us tonight. I'd feel better if we weren't alone. The others are welcome as well." Fel:
Andros' favor was certainly with this man as the arrow didn't seem to actually puncture anything. As a matter of fact it dissipated as you approached it. If it had been a physical arrow the man would most certainly be dead. Sheriff Auburn tilted her head at the two indicated. They were dragged away towards the jailhouse. "Radiant as always Vei. We'll get them awake and ask them."
Okay, I'm going to move things along now. If you wish to do more, please spoiler it. Nearly the entirety of Swampwood gathered for the ceremony. The brilliance of the pinkening sky added a magically majestic air as Chet and his bride spoke their vows. While most of the town left the ceremony, friends and extended family followed the couple to the reception set out in the town center. The food and drink were quite tasty, conversations were had and general merriment abound. Then came the ceremonial first dance of the couple. Just as they began to take their first steps, a scream rang out from one of the other tables as one of the men at another table fell over from what looked like a strange arrow protruding from his neck. It was then that five figures appeared by what seemed thin air. Two human men with black bows, two dwarves with black weapons of some sort, and the last one (an Elf) appearing behind the newlywed table. Secret Squirrel:
Alric: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 Cardren: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Elyana: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Fel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Zaranna: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Bowmen: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Warriors: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Elf: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Round 1: Alric, Cardren, Elf, Fel, Zaranna, Bowmen, Warriors, Elyana
Alric's first swing missed in his haste rushing forward. However the second swing managed to land in the exact same spot as Zaranna's blow. A very distinct crunching sound was heard as the woman collapsed to one knee. She wheezed for a few seconds before collapsing lifeless on the kitchen floor. Combat over. Damn that was fast.
