Settlement Name: TBD

Alignment: LG

Location: Mountain Tile (If possible)

Based on recent information and discussions internally, the company of Full Metal Syndicate has decided on the direction of forging a new path in Pathfinder Online. We will be looking to establish a settlement with like-minded Lawful Good players and companies with similar interest. Our vision is to place a monastery like fortress. It will deal primarily with ore and stone to develop armory for the strong Paladin contingent that will reside there. We will also be focusing on trade and selecting an area that will maximize PVE opportunities for those interested. PVP will be a primary focus and the warriors of light that band together will find brothers (and sisters) in arms willing to defend against the blight plaguing the Golarion lands.

This is a post for reaching out to people interested in banding together to create a settlement, not to join our company. We have no interest in specifically recruiting for our company to make this settlement work. We realize that we must work together with other companies to make something like this a reality. We've had an interested few parties speak with us, but rather than just go through back channels - we thought it best to just come forward and be upfront with our intent. Numbers don't lie and we will know whom has what very soon. If you are a company that is interested, please feel free to contact one of the six core from Full Metal Syndicate to set up a meeting with the groups if interested. If you are a free agent and interested, you are most welcome to apply to our company as well. We are a company that focuses primarily on diversity for recruitment, but that doesn't mean you have to be a specific sub-sect of a group to join us. If you are tolerant and overall nice person, you have a place with Full Metal Syndicate.

As you can see, we have left the settlement name TBD. We want to keep key ideas flexible for others that will join in making this settlement to have significant input as well. This will be a cooperative agreement in forming this new spiritual bastion. We are looking to work with people, not tell them what to do. This could be an exciting venture for those looking for an opportunity to explore this avenue within the Pathfinder Online world. Of course being a Lawful Good settlement also means we will be a destination for those seeking the higher tier training in the ways of the Paladin.

If interested, please feel free to respond here or reach out to us via PM.

Where there are those in need that seek protection, we offer the tools to defend yourselves.

Where there are those that beckon forth the destructive forces spewing from the wound, we stand in defiance.

Where there are shadows, we will cast light.

Until now, your settlement project is the one that I find the most appealing.

I wish you the best of luck in getting your settlement off the ground. I think members of our Ring of Light will be interested in stopping by and getting a look at your facilities.

Congratulations guys!

MAJOR UPDATE!

We have diplomat and settler forums now! Click 'Apply to Settle' and choose Diplomat, Settler, and/or Member.

Join as a settler if you are interested in settling with us as a free agent or company. We really want to collaborate on the settlement in a big way. This looks like the easiest way to do that, so I am quite excited to see this happen.

I'm still totally available via PM here for diplomatic things and our mumble info is available once you register.

Well said, well organized. Impressed I am. This, in my opinion, is the example of how settlements should be moving forward at the moment. The "settler" approach is absolutely brilliant.

(Is my jealousy that I did not think of it first showing through?)

Best of luck to you.

Oh, to ask a few questions:

Have you considered any settlement names?

What will be the expected power relationship between FMS and other companies that might want to take join a Good, Lawful, Paladin and Blacksmithing focused settlement?

Will you allow characters to settle that are known destiny twins for characters in other associations?

Congrats and good luck. I will certainly swing by for a visit though I likely won't start with a Paladin type

Hey Forencith, Thanks so much!

Now for your questions:

Have you considered any settlement names?

We have discussed a few names, but nothing concrete. We of course have a few ideas, but we want to hear what other interested companies are thinking. We think that if we are truly going to work together as a team, then it's important to maintain the vision while allowing particulars to be discussed among all the settlers. We are a company (guild) that is looking to join forces with other like-minded companies that share a common goal from the onset.

What will be the expected power relationship between FMS and other companies that might want to join a Good, Lawful, Paladin, and Blacksmithing focused settlement?

Well the settlement is Lawful Good. Anything that falls one step from that is acceptable, per game rules. The settlement and the vision of that settlement is intended to be what we described above. Some of those players on the other hand I'm sure will color outside of those lines. Which is exactly what should be expected, considering that this is a sandbox game. A Lawful Neutral company could join us to form the settlement as an example, but the settlement itself would be Lawful Good. This is one of the few particulars right now that is non-negotiable on our end. This is because the Lawful Good alignment for the settlement is a woven integral part of the vision of what we are trying to create. Insanely long answer, but the alignment part I felt needed a proper reply first before getting into the second part of this question. Power sharing is still (like many things with PFO) relatively innocuous.

We would like to go with a democratic system that would be befitting of our chosen alignment. Particulars of that will have to be hashed out when we have interested parties to discuss with and know real game design mechanics that will support such structures, if any. We want to be successful and have a long stay in PFO and that is going to require effort, respect and compromise from all companies and free agents that join; including us.

Will you allow characters to settle that are known destiny twins for characters in other associations?

The Destiny Twin issue is a tricky one and a great question all settlements must ask themselves. This will be one of many things that will be decided among the companies in this settlement. We would not rule on this particular issue without consulting other companies whom wish to join us. Such decisions have far reaching implications on recruitment and diplomacy for groups. Therefore, it would be better left on the back end of the decision making once our settlement is formulated and all companies partnered have agreed.

I agree with Forencith, "Apply to settle" is a brilliant find. I am hoping more Guilds/Companies/Gaming communities that are participating in the landrush will put such a button up.

People may not be ready to commit to a company,Guild or Gaming Community just yet, however most probably already know what type of settlement they want to be part of (Alignment, location in the world, theme) and this way they can have a home when EE starts, and their vote does not go to waste.

I hope other landrush settlers are taking notes here! :)

Quietus, any idea where FMS would want to locate their settlement if they get to pick?

@Tyncale For the moment, the best answer we can give is mountain tile because of the unpredictability of the landrush outcome

Plus, mountains would give me access to make golems out of stone since Q will only let me use the metal bits for crafting arms and armor.

Thanks, Flintlokk, that is a good indication. Seems like mountains are going to be popular. :)

thats when you say
Hey, see those hills over there? There's gold in them hills
and cue the gold rush

Yet there are only four settlements on mountain hexes. I and T have mountains within one hex of the settlement, but for T they'd have to travel a minimum of 10 hexes (and thru Ws territory) to get to it. There might be one additional settlement adjacent to mountains in the three new locations to be added, but that's it... at most six viable mountain settlements in the land rush.

Exactly why we are reaching out in this form to find similar companies with similar interest. Why compete when we can come to an agreement and work together to accomplish virtually the same goals?

Sounds like an awesome Settlement idea, Quietus.

I'm really hoping you guys can field an army of armored cavalry with pinioned lances, slowly advancing to the trot across a dew dampened field.

Good luck!

Any interest in Crowdforging the Settlement name? Or is that something you're doing within your own group?

This is something we'll be doing with our own groups.

How long before someone names their settlement 'Settlement'? Not you fine folks. With such a good design team I'm expecting great things from you.
