I'm not actually opposed to a campaign that's steeped in the whole binary thing either, but I did think it was worth bringing up.

I edited AND conscientiously object to Question 20, but look forward to our discussion of lines ... and veils ... and pronouns. I think it will be a good chat.

In addition to the lines/veils/pronoun chat, there's another one that I would like to have also.
You'll pardon my temerity, I'm sure.
Would you discuss, at whatever length you are comfortable with, what your player's take away should be when they read: "I hope to finish the campaign, but if I leave, I will inform the players first."

I remember when I first started with PbP, and someone posted something like, "Well, it's the holidays, and I'll be baking; will probably post in a couple weeks." I was like, for real? I won't remember this character's backstory in 3 weeks without rereading it. I was stunned.

I get that life happens and stuff, I really do. But here's the thing, I've seen people text. Actually, in my last career, I was an email architect, so I am pretty clear on what it takes to get a post posted.

I love other people's lives, I love other people's boundaries, I love other people's families. But when part of the campaign pitch is "a 10 year committment" - well I am expecting the same thing from everyone.

All I want at this point is for these campaigns to cease to be clutter in my campaigns page. Seems like a simple request, and I really do wish the best to everyone remaining. Have a great 2024 :)

Understandable, Erryll, I could not come up with any response to the statement that there was no will except to say I didn't have one, which seemed boring. If the Referee wants I could make it but I don't see how that would advance anything.

This is my check in I stopped, because it was depressing me as well but I will check a few time till the new year.

I think maybe this is a good time for me to say Thank You ... and exit the campaign. Coming in to my campaign page has begun to be a really depressing experience so I thought I would excuse myself and wish everyone the best :)

PORTER SAJAN and the BROTHERHOOD OF HUMANITI

The Brotherhood has cornered Porter Sajan and is demanding that Vlen be buried in accordance with the Brotherhood's traditions.

"He may be apostate, but he is still a sworn Brother," says Aail, while the other monks harmonize behind her, giving a strange weight to her words. "A sample of his DNA must be taken for interment in the monastery archive, so in future millennia all believers will be part of the Ur-Humaniti to come."

"Uh... I think..." begins Sajan.

"And furthermore, the ceremony must take place according to the Scripture. There is a clear precedent to follow, taking approximately six hours. Most of that, of course, is the ritual denunciation."

"The what?"

"The Denunciation. All races, persons, governments, creeds,groups, species or thoughts that deny the essential unity of all Humaniti must be denounced. And they must be denounced in detail."

Sajan looks over at you, the Travellers, uncertain of what to do and seeking some help.

"Lord Sajan!"

"I'm not sure I took the time to make myself as clear as I should have earlier ... but now seems like a significantly better time."

"My documents show that I am a doctor, of reknown throughout the Imperium. My documents show that I am a Lord of the Darien Confederation, which is also recognized throughout known space. This ancient beggar woman though, huh, seems like all she has are a bunch of urchins who hum rather badly when she says 'Fraternal Order of Unwashed Sisters'. We both know that you or I could comm the Highport at any moment and summon a host of solicitors who can order these cultists to be chained and sent to the Duke on Regina. Please, say the word, I can tell they are bothering you trying to get you to falsely endorse their claim."

Finally back up after much bustle and bother, in the new place. I'm now in the Easter time zone of the U.S.

That was sort of my thought Nick, but this dude was really off, like it's sad in a way.

ALL - while I knew I would be a little slower because it was my birthday, the next 2 days of bomb threats on my work place took a little more out of me than I had planned. Please bot me as needed, I will be able to attend to my games on Sunday :)

Before Erryll finishes his first shout, Parad’s big bodyguard steps between him and Erryll, getting right into Erryll’s personal space and towering over the delicate fashion model. His hand has gone to his waistband where he clearly has a pistol, but he hasn’t drawn it.

A second bodyguard pokes his head in the door, shoving Porter Sajan out of the line of fire.

Parad leans in and speaks low. ”Who am I? I’m Yusul f*%*ing Parad. Show some f#%%ing respect for the Backetts and and the people of this town or Morgan here’s going tie you into little knots and dump your f#&%ing body in the swamp.”

”Vlen Backett owes me 1 million credits and I’m getting my f*$+ing money back, y’understand?”

He leans back away from Morgan and Erryll and all eyes focus on the tableau.

About that time, another ship can be heard landing outside.

Erryll could, as one could imagine, quite care less. He'd been brought back to life several times, and one man's silly slug shooter wasn't really a concern ... he ignores Morgana or whatever the name of the little 'w'itch is in front of him, and speaks again to the commoner who seemed to have amassed somewhat of a fortune.

"Morgana's knots or whatever it was aren't really my concern, but I know you know that ... a million credits however, is quite another matter. Given that it is very unlikely the late Mr Backett will be reconciling the debt, I will endevour to help my friend do so on behalf of the estate."

"Please also understand that your friend should quickly choose to move away from me and return to your side, or this is a memory I will erase, completely, another day."

"I almost feel that you, some useless peon on a useless world, were acting as though you might give ME, a dignitary from a real world, directives. I know that's preposterous, and I know you must only seem that insipid, but it gnaws at me. Like a giant bucktooth rabbit on an equally useless world, it GUH-naws at me. Like that can't really just have happened, it's not like you have half the value in half the Universe that Beckett did, right? So, stay put a$$hat, let us know what makes you so important. Erryll smiles a genuinely somewhat regretful smile at Ben, but Erryll was Erryll, and he had kind of had enough.

"I'll leave you now," says Sajan. "I'll see you in the morning for the funeral."

"Don't try to leave Vaca Goya," Parad tells Sajan. "Nobody leaves until this is all sorted out."

Sajan smiles nervously. "As you say," he says, and leaves the room.

The cretin, Porter Sajan, seemed eager to try to leave the room.

"OR WHAT!?!?"

I have to prolongue my absence - moving to the new house is almost finished. But the Coronavirus decided, that things have been too easy. Please bot me, as you see fit.

Nic defers to his comrades as to the most of the conversation but pipes up once to ask, "I don't wish to exhaust you Professor but would it be possible for us to have technical and operational data on the G-detector. That seems something that could come in handy in the future." Nic pauses and more quietly, [b]"We know there are other interested parties and they do not play nice. Anyone connected to this is at risk. We're already in deep, so the more we know the better."

"Lady, could we please have access to your records? Could we lodge at your estate for the briefest moment? I've been away from Darien for so long, but I saved you with tech unlike I have seen in ages. Could I heal my crew and rest for a moment there? It would mean everything. We will return to you when the mystery is solved, my word on this.

Both of you, please, love your life. Your life is what brought you to us, and if it needs a little more attention, give it. It will only make you more fully engaged when you return.

Erryll is more concerned with the Professor than their mission, and it shows; he immediately begins to examine all of the readings and treatment indicators in the room. He takes the professor's hand ...

"Lady Ujinka, I must admit, part of me is tempted to go back to your estate to examine your autodoc, and then send for one of my technicians on Darien to perform some upgrades for you. Your health brings warmth to me, let me know if there is anything you need, ever."

Somewhat apropos, my 10-year old has a cold. He informed me that it might be yellow fever.

Much like when a nurse meaured my height incorrectly ... and I said, omg do I have osteoporosis!?

Still feeling a bit unwell from his last encounter with zero-g, Malaxius grips his seat as tight as he can, trying not to vomit or black out. When he dares he looks at the storage compartment with a worried glance. When the panel hits his knee he shrieks in pain and surprise.

Erryll whirls in place to see what has happened to Mal, but the look on his face is DARK: "Someone should tell me we didn't know those "life" pods were coffins ... "

Linc dumps his prisoner into a lifepod.

"Dump the prisoners into the pods and fire them off! I'll go get the shuttle!" He barked. He repeats the order through his cyberlink to his companions.

Erryll works to situate the prisoners prior to jettisoning them, and seal them in when he is done. He races to the shuttle.

I too would like to apologize for irl distractions taking me away from gaming: I started an amazing new job this past Monday, but it took a lot of time & focus. I am, however, back and catching up right now :)

Erryll is making sure that his actual comrades won't die escaping, when he's sure of that, he may help the criminals.

Is it possible for Erryll to get all the way to Ben, going back the way he came past RED so that he has cover some of the time? Not sure if there is something like running in PF1&2 ...

In this particular situation I'd say it's unnecessary. But if a second character were to also make a successful Medic check for First Aid, I'd say it was probably worth a +1 DM to the first player. If you failed, however, It'd be a -1 DM. Note that a medikit can also provide a +1 or more, based on its Tech Level.

Erryll purchased on that is a higher level than normal, I would need to go look. I will let us know.

I will open the core book again and look at the medkit write up. I do not believe stims are generally in the kits, but she should be able to be stabilized.

A very valid point but absent the kinds of interaction a live session has it is difficult where to draw the line, and I don't have clear guidance on how this is viewed by the GM. And I'm very detailed oriented person. Just asking questions is how I find out just where the lines are drawn. But I'll roll with however the GM wants to play it. I'd like to move forward myself, I've said all I need to say, my last gameplay post was more a flavor thing then anything else. I tend to make minor posts if the game appears to be slowing down. I try to make them meaningful but not critical, I don't always succeed.

K, well, now that I have looked at your AMAZING profile build, I would say you probably succeed a LOT, AND I would say that I am going to read it all tonight, AND I am going to add, I feel a little profile-shamed, so I am probably going to try to make mine a little more snappy. Yayyy @ Nic!

I also have to say that there are times when the rabbit hole gets so deep that it's almost transformational, like where the campaign could be renamed "Secrets of the Vacc Suits"
and I'm not saying that we don't plan, principaly, but I am also not aware that Tarondor has Gygax-Syndrome and is out to kill all of us (yet) either.

People in the known Universe have conquered the idea of multiple charges for Zero-G Environment Suits. Maybe we could use the ImperiWeb to find this dark sorcery and move forward?

I'm making some assumptions about how much monitoring of electronic communications is made on Regina by law enforcement. I would think it high with expert systems running at least Investigate 1 programs to determine any communication for unlawful reasons exists and deliver it for further action. Civil liberties may restrict this but privacy may not be one of the rights protected. Alexa, just for one example, records everything said around it and it is stored forever. Courts have subpoenaed such records for prosecution. Regina is centuries ahead of where we are now and current capabilities for tracking and monitoring are terrifying already. I'd think, at a minimum all electronic items would be shut down for any clandestine meeting or it would be the same as talking in front of the cops. The GM rules on such matters though, of course.

I don't think I'm playing Nic paranoid, if anything, he's being reckless doing anything with comms. Even today overwhelming surveillance capabilities exist and many countries use them extensively, even "nice" ones.

Nic shrugs at the gun check request. "Just the usual for me, Linc. Stunner, don't like deadly guns. Got a static blade from my trader days, for boarding actions. I mostly depend on my unarmed training. I made Sayokan master a short while ago, so I'm good there."
