Emarthine brushed off her scythe as was her way and moved toward the idol at the centre of the cave and looked closely around the shrine, careful not to touch the various innards strewn around it.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Carefully hidden in one of the rock crevasses, the Druidess found a dirty/bloodied cloth, and, unwrapping it, she discovered another vial and unstoppering it, she took a whiff and noted that the colour of the liquid in the vial was the same as the vials found on the fallen Churgri.
"Clever cleric. She hid another healing potion in the rock around the shrine to her god."
Stoppering the vial, Emarthine handed it across to Riley. The druidess tossed the dirtied rag down by the base of the shrine, wiped her hands on her breeches and moved away from the foul idol. (You now have 4 CLW potions.)
Round 4
Emarthine determined to end the injured kobold opposite her, before it does any damage to her companions, ferociously strikes at it with her scythe.
Power Attack with M/W Scythe on Kobold #2: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 2 = 15
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 2) + 5 = 11
and the kobold falls beneath her assault, landing hard and bleeding out on the cavern floor.
Emarthine then moves down 5 ft to make room for the others.
Two snapping turtles on rock lip remain. Both are now inside their shells. Snapping Turtle #1 is very badly injured. Snapping Turtle #2 is mildly injured.

Round 4: Riley, Braylee, Felix, Rhia and Nighttail to go.
Current Map
Round 2
Noting Braylee move to the side to give her passage, Emarthine moves down and and stands before the bleeding kobold (#2).
She ferociously attacks the creature with her scythe,
Power Attack with M/W Scythe attack on Kobold 2: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 2 = 17
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 3) + 5 = 11
and cuts deeply into the creature and it falls fast; a deep pool of blood forming around the creature.
(Kobold # 1 is down.)
Nighttail with Hak remain in the back, guarding the rear of the tunnel and the female healer before her/them.
Total Defense for full round action.
End of Round 2.
Riley wrote: He looks at Emarthine. "And would the Baroness honor our treaty?"
Emarthine's attention is drawn back to the conversation upon the Half-Elf's question. "If you can assure Lady Origena the situation is well in hand, she may. Or once the chieftain is defeated, this Nighttail can lead her tribe away from Belhaim and find a new home elsewhere and it will not be an issue."
Emarthine inclines her head in compliance. "I will show them the way out and find a safe place for them to wait. I will return shortly." The Elven druidess gestures for the three freed humans to follow her outside. As Bophre draws closer, Emarthine whispers, "Your mother will be elated at your return. She has been distraught these past months."
Emarthine leads the three out through the tunnels and past the dead kobold guards outside the entrance. She finds a place higher up, on the ledge/path, in the shade and thicker brush, for them to hide. She leaves them her spare canteen lest they grow thirsty beneath the afternoon sun. "Do not show yourselves until we return."
Emarthine returns to the party, still gathered in the pungent slave cavern.
What now, adventurers? Any final actions before we proceed?
Current Map
Felix is fully healed (full hp) and Riley is now at 17/19 HP.
--------------------------------
Emarthine moves to search the lead kobold's body for a key to the chains and manacles that hold the three prisoners chained to the rocks.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
She discovers a key on the dying kobold's belt, removes it and then moves non-threateningly/steadily toward Bophre Malak first, "I mean you no harm. I will try to free you of your bonds. Please hold still."
As she inserts the key into the lock, it turns and there's a *click* and the manacles open. Emarthine then moves to Carlo and Sela and uses the key to free them from their chains/manacles.
The Elven Druidess casts her gaze over the cavern and notes there is nothing of value or use.
Round 5
Emarthine steps forward and ferociously attacks the kobold (#3) after its vicious attack on the Half-Elf scout.
Power Attack with M/W Scythe: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3) + 5 = 12
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 2 = 10 (Doesn't confirm)
and cuts deeply - through to the bone - and kobold (#3) drops to the ground, dying, in a large pool of blood.
Only Kobold #2 remains.
Round 5: Braylee and Felix to go.
Current Map
Round 4
Emarthine attacks kobold #2.
Standard Attack with M/W Scythe: 1d20 + 3 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 2 - 2 = 6
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8
but her swing isn't precise and she scrapes the rock instead.
She then moves down (10ft) diagonally to give Braylee a clearer path toward the kobold near Riley, but still be close enough that the druidess can help Riley next turn.
Round 4: Riley and Braylee to go.
Current Map
No worries, Felix. Thanks.
Round 3
Emarthine decides to attack the uninjured kobold (#4) in front of her,
Power Attack with M/W Scythe: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2) + 5 = 10
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 - 2 = 9 Did not confirm
and manages to cut it deep and it falls down, dying. Emarthine then takes a 5ft step to give her companions a chance to finish the other one at the entrance.
Kobold 4 has fallen.
---------------------
Round 3: Riley and Braylee to go. Then kobolds.
Two kobolds remain: Kobold 2 who is very injured and Kobold 3 at full hp near the prisoner, Bophre.
Current Map
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Know. Nature re rodents: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Know. Local re Kobolds: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Emarthine looks over the small cavern covered in mouldy straw and then looks back at the rodents. She lifts her free hand to her nose to stave some of the smell and quietly adds,
"Dire rats. It is fortunate you did not fall ill with Filth Fever when one broke the skin of your arm, Felix. There's nothing here but the pungency of their excretions and the staleness of the straw. Let us go and investigate the other tunnel."
Emarthine swiftly heads out of cavern, scythe in hand, and moves to the back of line again, waiting for the others to begin moving up into the NNW tunnel.
Going into formal marching order again. Let me know how you proceed please and make any applicable checks. Thanks.
Current Map
Emarthine's Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Braylee, you only find the spears and slings on the Kobold guards. Nothing else of value.
------------------------------------------------------------
"I have magical light. If Riley leads, I will follow directly behind. I have been told that he possesses the talent for spotting and disarming their traps."
The Elven Druidess casts light on Riley's blade. (20 min duration or when spell is extinguished.)
A thought enters her mind and she turns to the cat-man, "Unless of course, Felix you would directly follow Riley and then I will come after you."
Emarthine removes a cloth from her pocket and wipes the blood from her masterwork scythe. She heard the oracle's question but left the answer to the beautiful woman's true companions. Instead she moves to the northern entrance of the kobold lair, bends her head down a little and carefully peers inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
The Elven Druidess quietly conveys her observations, "The deeper interior of the tunnel is in darkness (The tunnel is unlit). And as I thought, the tunnel is only large enough for the kobolds to move within. From what I can see, the ceiling is about five feet high. The ceilings will be an obstacle for us larger folk."
Inside the Blood Vow lair, medium-sized creatures are inconvenienced by the low ceilings and will take -2 penalty on all attack rolls while inside the lair.
Round 2
Emarthine jumps down from the boulder and attacks the kobold before her with ferocious might.
Acrobatics to jump down: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Power Attack with Scythe: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 3) + 5 = 11
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Doesn't confirm
Emarthine drops the remaining kobold guard.
End of combat for now.
Current Map: At Kobold Lair
Round 1
Emarthine jumps up onto the medium-sized boulder before her and then attacks the kobold guard on the ground.
Acrobatics to jump onto boulder (DC 12): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Standard attack with scythe on Kobold Guard 3 with higher ground bonus: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 = 15
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6
The attack drops Kobold 3 and it is dying/bleeding out on the ground.
Surprise Round
Emarthine immediately and ferociously strikes the first Kobold (Kobold 1) with her masterwork scythe.
Power Attack on Kobold 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage, if hits: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 4) + 5 = 10
and her mark is true and it falls to the ground, dying/bleeding out.
Emarthine listens as Riley shares with the group his assessment of the kobold guards' temperament and inclinations. "So, what now? I will heed your instruction as soon as I know what it is you all mean to do with the guards."
The Half-Elf scout offers up to surprise them.
"Will you lead the surprise initiative?", the Elven druidess asks him. "I will follow you, if that is acceptable."
Stealth (with Rhia's Guidance) to move forward with Riley: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 = 20

Emarthine listened to the conversation flowing around her. The group would be a disadvantage in not knowing the number of kobolds they would be dealing with. But had they thought about what they would do with the nesting mothers and the young in the tribe.
The Elven druidess listened to the red-haired human female speak of her talent in resolving multiple threats, if they are in close proximity. Then came her words in Draconic - perhaps she was testing her or simply revealing her talent with the kobold tongue.
"Young one, forgive me for I do not know your name, you are welcome to the hospitality of my farm. And, you and your friends may call me Emarthine."
Riley wrote: "Your knowledge of Kobolds will be very helpful. Thank you again for your assistance." He reaches out to hold Talia's hand. "We will meet you there then."
The Elf noticed the familiarity between the Half-Elf and Talia, but she did not cast judgement on it. Talia was entitled to her pleasures. "I have a final question: Do you mean to capture their Chieftain and then demand (through bargaining his life) that the tribe leave Belhaim for good? I say now to you, I cannot condone the slaughter of entire tribe for the folly of a few."
Once the matter was settled on how they would drive the kobolds out of the old quarry, Emarthine bid them a momentary farewell as she would see them again soon enough. She called her head workers and explained to them she would be away for the rest of the day and what she expected in her absence. Emarthine packed some of her gear, food and water, and collected her weapons and then set off for The Wise Piper.
Emarthine watched as the Half-Elf put together a makeshift map of the kobold warren and explained its entrances and guards. "Kobolds are crafty, preferring traps and ambush and they will have the advantage being we will be in their territory. We must incapacitate all six guards so none can retreat to warn their kin inside the warren. The element of surprise will better our chances but the proportions of their tunnels will make it harder on us taller folk. I will need a half hour to make preparations and be ready to join you if you mean to challenge them this day. I can meet you at the inn and we can proceed from there."
Riley wrote: "We actually found an entrance through the tower ruins."
The Elf's fine brow rose at mention of a hidden tunnel. "It would seem the Tower held more secrets than we imagined. Clever kobolds. How many did you spy upon your first encounter with the tribe? Do you know their exact number? Mistress Rhialtyra spoke of her attempt at parlay which fell short due to a communication matter."

Riley wrote: "Well met, Emarthine. I am Riley. I'll let Rhia here explain why we came. You have a beautiful orchard.". He takes a drink of the apple cider. "Wow. This is amazing. Thank you."
The Elf considered the male Half-Elf and wondered which of his parents had been Elven - his sire or mam. She smiled, leaned back in her chair and inclined her head at his praise of her cider, "We provide all the town with cider, preserves, jam, apple sauce and fresh apples when they are in season. We take great care of the trees and land on which they grow, Master Riley. Thank you."
Rhialtyra wrote: "Greetings," she said, smiling at Emarthine. "I am Rhialtyra Sunaki of Oppara. We come in seek of aid to navigate a troubling interaction with The Blood Vow kobold tribe."
The beautiful stranger's words followed by Talia's gave Emarthine pause to consider the growing kobold threat at the old quarry.
"Well met, Mistress Rhialtyra. Your beauty shines bright. Fortunately for your party, I, too, speak Draconic, and am well versed with the land in and out of Belhaim. We were promised the kobolds would be no threat to the town, but as you say, they have breached the perimeter and set the Witch Tower to collapse, then they have broken the accord and must be dealt with." She took a long, graceful drink before continuing.
"It is fortunate, too, that the trees are not in season to bear fruit, and as I have a little time on my hands. I will join you on this quest. The Old Quarry Road has long been left to ruin, so how do you plan on entering the limestone quarry to their lair?"

The Elven woman stands and you brushes the dirt from her knees. She is tall (5'10") and her body slim but well toned from the hard work of running an apple farm. She has long, light brown hair in thick braids with leaf adornments, tanned skin and vivid green eyes. She is comely in a wild Elven way. Her clothes are made of green, brown and blue cloth and furs of brown and silver-grey. She looks directly at each of you and finally a smile breaks across her face when her eyes set on Talia.

"Hail, my friend. It has been far too long since you have visited the orchard, and, you have brought new friends with you. Come, let us sit at the table by the north grove." The Elven druid leads, her strides sure and easy. As she passes another of her workers, she calls out to them, "Ferna, please bring some cool apple cider for my guests." The Human woman nods and moves toward the farmhouse to do as bidden. It isn't long when the woman returns, a tray in her arms - tall jug of the apple cider and cups - and places them on the table and returns to her outdoor work.
"So, I am Emarthine Willoway and I bid you welcome to my orchard. Talia mentioned you have some business of some importance to speak to me about. I would like to hear from you, now."
Opening the floor to the PCs to make their introductions and proposition.
