Understanding their fellow pathfinder needed to take care of her father, Elathras prepares so head below. Knowing the Desnan's were leaving and probably not going to need them, he asks, "Shall we gather the a hidden stash" "Before we descend?"
Relieved to find Koriah's father alive, Elathras listens ash the cleric of Desna tells the tale of death and betrayal. Trying to wrap his brain around all the different pieces of the plot, he leaves the questions to the more educated members of the party. Eventually he asks, "Shouldn't we search the Abbot's quarters to see if we can find the combination, then take advantage of the emergency supplies before we head below?" Turning to the newest member of the Pathfinders to join them, he ask, "Koriah would you and your father care to accompany us?"
As the others fret about the lock, Elathras keeps a watch, making sure nothing sneaks up on them unawares.
. Hearing Koriah's father was in charge of the tower, Elathras asks, as they head toward the door, "Maybe he's just being cautious. What if we just knock and let Koriah tell her dad that it's safe?"
Hearing that one of the original clerics may still live, Elathras, having a gift for the obvious, asks, "Do you know how to gain access to the tower so we may check on him before we descend through the Groetus door?"
. I was thinking it was A4 and A10, or maybe you mean places other than A10, I'm not sure. Obviously, I need to drink more coffee, I'll get a real post up once I've done so.
Leaning his Guisarme against the wall, Elathras searches the body of the dead half elf. As he searches her he sets the items out so the others can see them. Finding the odd key, he holds it up, asking "Do you think this is what we are looking for?" Not knowing a lot about magic he opens the salve and sniffs it, wondering aloud, "Anyone know what this ointment is for?"
Shuddering as the half elf steps away and sends negative energy washing over the room, Elathras shakes his head. "You will not escape." He steps back, lifting his Guisarme and chops repeatedly.
As the giant falls, Elathras sees the woman who's hair is hissing snakes begin to cast her spell. His eyes making contact with hers, Squinting, his eyes begin to water and he sneezes, wrinkling his nose he asks, "Is it dusty in here?" Tapping his heels together he proceeds into the room wading into the pool. Issuing his challenge, "Have at thee Woman!" He slashes at her with his Guisarme.
Stepping back to make room, Elathras brings his Guisarme into play and slashes at the giant.
Taking a moment to observe the stained-glass windows, Elathras asks gesturing towards the windows. "What do you think Elena are these something you'd take a sketch of?" Hearing Bharak's observation about the other door, he adds, "When we have time, I mean." As he speaks he moves towards the other door, inspecting it quickly, he attempts to open it.
Feeling the magic stir around him, Elathras watches as Elena's ants take the fight to the demons. Chuckling as the demon clearly moves slower he raises an eyebrow as Vhane quickly fires off several shots with his crossbow, bringing down the last demon. Making a mental note to ask the dwarf how he gets off so many shots so quickly, Elathras crosses the threshold. "Well done Pathfinders." Leaning his polearm against the wall he quickly checks the room for anything of value.
As Elean uses magic to search for traces of magic, Elathras waits. Once she nods her head, he shifts the polearm to his left hand and opens the southern door with his right.
Just something that came to me randomly. Who hasn't used the Tome of Clarity for the +2 intelligence yet? Elathras hasn't, but no rush
As the conversation about the 'splinter' continues, Elathras opens the door to the north, confirming what he suspected that this floor would not be joined to the locked tower in the center of the fortress. As Vhane finishes drawing a small portion of wood from the chair, he asks, moving towards the southern door. "Shall we continue checking this wing?" Remembering the mummies charging from the previous room, he readies his weapon in case something untoward gets past Bharak.
Still confused by the puzzling poem, Elathras, hearing the creatures were worshippers of the demon lord Mestama, shakes his head and sighs. Using his pole-arm he points toward the fireplace, which seemed to be the only way to continue. "Shall we continue?"
Keeping his Guisarme poised to defend the others, Elathras smiles as dwarf and flame bring down the undead enemy. Moving through the chambers he looks into the southern room, voicing, "Looks like access to the other stairs, no other exit." As he returns his attention to the 'sitting room' he leans his weapon against the wall. Picking up a few books, he raises an eyebrow. "These are mostly written in Aklo and Abyssal." Moving to the table he picks up the book of poems. Turning to the back he reads the poem aloud in Taldane. "Two to the left for annis hag. Three to the right for banshee nag. One to the west for greenie crone. Two to the east for spinster lone. Two to dusk for wife in tears, Three to dawn for witches leers." Closing the book he extends it to the others asking, "Any ideas what it means?"
One round then something is coming through the south door. What are you doing now?
Moving off the stairwell just as Bharak drops the undead, Elathras nod. About to say something he hears movement from the southern room. Stepping over the fallen undead he positions himself near the door, his polearm at the ready.
Nodding in agreement with Vhane, Elathras turns to Bharak, "After you."
As he moves cautiously up the stairs behind his friend, Elathras keeps a keen eye out as he goes.
Looking at the very locked door, Elathras nods towards the south west, "There was the staircase in the guardroom. Maybe the lead someplace where we can keep searching for a key?"
Nope. They're at the top of the stairs you decided not to go up while you had more to explore this level. Cool, so we can still do that, maybe we'll find a key :)
Just to double check did we explore A17 or A18?
Chuckling at Vhanes observation about 'avoiding the deadly trap' Elathras turns to Bharak and asks, "Shall we deal with the trap before we move on?" He smiles, "And by 'we' I mean do 'you' want to mess with it now or later?"
Not yet, I was talking about the other tower opposite the one we are in, where the giant Elathras still stands, I moved the black tile it was numbered A6
Nodding in agreement with Elena, Elathras smiles, "From your mouth to Shelyn's ears." As he speaks he moves back towards the steps, to the large room below and the door to the southern tower. Pausing at the door he investigates it for anything untoward.
Having helped collect the valuables, Elathras mentions off hand, "Maybe we should return the cutlery to the abbey?" Gesturing back the way they came he adds, "We should probably check the tower to the south before we take the kitchenware back there."
Just curious, Is the moral bonus from the flag always active or does she need to be preforming?
He hops onto the stairwell and swings furiously at Bharak.
Seeing the redcap attack Bharak, Elathras moves back slightly and repeatedly thrust his guissarme at the fellow.
Nodding to Axton as he shrinks to his regular size, Elathras asks Bharak, "Shall we?" Realizing whoever was in the room had chosen to hide instead of fight. Elathras calls out, "We know you're behind the stairwell, why don't you surrender?"
Realizing the Large Dire wolves couldn't enter the area, Elathras turns to Axton, "Hey Axton, looks like it's time to dismiss the enlarge person spell, if the wolves can't get in there, I won't be able to either this big." He smiles, "But it was fun while it lasted."
Thanks for the heads up, GM_DBH, Take all the time you need. I highly recommend the sleep apnea study, I use a CPAP machine, a solid nights sleep helps improve so much.
Chuckling at Elena's and Axton's conversation as they walk up the stairs, Elathras gives a wolfish smile at Bharak's recommendation. Turning to Elena he nods, "Yes Elena, Marli and his pack would be a wonderful inclusion to our assault."
Moving up the steps, Elathras realizes it's not quite as easy to move through narrow space in his enlarged shape. Making a mental note to request the spell in more open spaces, he moves into the room to watch the dwarves finish off the last Redcap and to hear the stomping above. Nodding towards the other set of steps, "We should probably deal with whoever is above before they can set a strong defense." Knowing the dwarves will be able to move up the stairs quicker than himself, he turns back towards the steps and the spell casters below him, calling softly, "Third floor footsteps, come on, we're ascending."
. Hearing combat start Elathras begins to hustle up the stairs.
Realizing the dwarves were sneaking up the steps in the first tower, Elathras returns and waits by the worrying, cleric.
He uses a crossbow, but as a Gunslinger he does have to go Bang!. Bang! With the bolts. :) That seems reasonable...
Hearing the Redcaps above, Elathras turns, speaking softly as he nods towards the rooms inner workings, "Steps to the second floor of the gate house." Wanting to verify the door was in fact also door to the other gatehouses inner workings, Elathras crosses the room and opens the door to the southeastern chamber.
As Vhane puts the dwarven logic in terms a human could understand, Elathras face lights up in recognition of the explanation. Noddin his head the agrees, "That makes sense." As the conversation turns to the ancient door, Elathras remembers a little of the history of the monastery. "This is probably the entrance to the ancient site where we should find the shard." nodding to Elena, "The doomsday door, as it were." Turning from the door, "But I agree, look for a key and possibly survivors." Giving a wolfish smile, letting his 'Orders' training show through. "and finish off the Monstrous invaders." As he speaks he moves towards the east and the closed door.
Watching as Axton 'searches his memory' Elathras considers the idea of having someone else's memory in his head. Wondering if it would make him a better fighter, he agrees with the arcanist, "I'm not sure what Bharak is referring to either." Glancing at Vhane he wonders if the other dwarf grasps the metaphor either. Having no desire to be in the kitchen any longer he gestures back the way they came, "Shall we continue checking the rooms off of the great room before we head up stairs?" As he exits the kitchen he continues clockwise, past the former 'guest housing' to the archway on the northern wall. Pausing, outside the short hallway, he turns waiting for Bharak to work his magic.
Nodding his head in agreement with Vhane, Elathras, surprised, turns towards Axton asking, "You cannot?" As Bharak moves towards the bloated trap Elathras wonders aloud, "Why would the redcaps fabricate a trap that encourages them to set it off, Maybe the trap was set by another."
Chuckling at Bharak's response, Elathras nods, [b[]"Of course."[/b] Following the dwarf into the kitchen, Elathras moves to the table where someone had recently been preparing 'sausage.' Having been raised on the rolling plains within sight of the southwestern Echo Wood, Elathras was very familiar with the process of making sausage. Lifting the meat and smelling it, he quickly drops it. "That's human flesh." He frowns looking at Axton, "They were making Human sausage." Wiping his hand on the table he nods as AXton indicates the other door, Looking towards his friend, he asks, "Shall we?"
Nodding as the dwarves dispatch the evil little fey, Elathras comments, "Well done." as he moves through the doorway back into the great room. Gesturing left and then right, "Let's clear these side rooms before we ascend." Turning towards the western door, he furrows his brow, and smiles slightly. "Being large is a disadvantage if the door is through a narrow hallway, Bharak, you mind opening this one?"
Trusting that the dwarves will be able to deal with the single fey, Elathras checks to make sure nothing is moving back the direction they came.
... He enters just inside the doorway, ready to support Bharak if something attacks out of one of the small dilapidated rooms.
Watching the others move around, Elathras keeps his polearm at the ready.
Hearing Elena's question Elathras chuckles at Axton's comment. Not fond of wasting anything, magic included, Elathras shakes his head, "No it will give me a chance to test the size to my liking." He smiles at Axton, "Who knows, I may like it." He enters just inside the doorway, ready to support Bharak if something attacks out of one of the small dilapidated rooms.
Furrowing his brow, Elathras asks, "Looks mostly burned out, do we want to take the time to search the few small rooms remaining along the wall?"
Torn between congratulating the dwarves on a well placed attack and apologizing to Axton for apparently wasting a spell, Elathras does neither. Instead, he nods in agreement with Elena and moves towards the northern door that Elena had pointed out. He quicky inspects the door (if it is free of traps) he will attempt to open it, so Bharak can advance.

Moving into the larger room Elathras readies to attack the redcaps.
Just double checking while we're talking tactics, Enlarged and with a reach weapon, Elathras will be able to strike the redcaps right? Will they get 'partial cover' from the balcony? I'll get a post up later today.
