Game Master the Dragon wrote: You could also do cleric, if you want. Or even gunslinger. Warpriest is a bit iffy, in that it eats up swift actions, which the stalker usually need a lot of, but you could easily build a stalker that avoids boosts and swift action arts. Good point. Hrm. Are we allowed to Multiclass on one side of the Gestalt, or will that muck things up too much?
Allow me to un-grim-dark the submissions a bit. :P Submitting a Stalker/Fighter who is essentially a ronin type character. I wanted to post it yesterday but I had some trouble finding something to mesh with Stalker. In the end I decided to just bolster up my attacks. I'm still on the fence on whether I should have gone with Warpriest instead, but it just felt like there wasn't enough synergy. Ah well. At any rate, I'm happy with him ,and would love to hear feedback!

Ecko looks irate as the gnome's shouting draws the goblin's attention to them. Peering over the side of the hole, he motions again for Brinx to come closer, and fires a shot at the closest goblin to her, intending to prove a point.

Ecko follows the others, quickly cocking his head back and forth, suspicious not only of the goblin, but of all of them. As Felkin's command goes unanswered, the Tengu looks at him in disappointment, the goblin's value evaporating in an instant. "Well done well done." He mutters. "Some chief." He cocks his head at Vinter. "Can't bomb the goblins without maybe hitting the gnome." He cocks his head again. "Watch this one." he nods towards Felkin. With the chief taken care of, Ecko pulls out his gun and points it through the hatch. Keeping it trained on the goblins, he lets out a whistle to get the gnome's attention, hoping that the goblins will be too caught up in their own games to notice.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Ecko strains, listening for the familiar sound of birds. "Can't quite hear them." He says, cocking his head at Jabbik. "What are they saying?" Intelligence Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Plus an additional 4 if Knowledge Nature applies, though with that roll I'm not sure it will help much.

Rather pleased by how that went, Ecko lets out a sharp chirp, though his feathered face betrays no emotions. The ravenfolk begins climbing ladders, ignoring the conflict between the others as being somewhat irrelevant to the escape. The woman had already proved a degree of value, though, and he keeps checking regularly to make sure that she's still moving.

Hmm, I don't have a blade. This may be interesting. At Olivia's mention of the ropes, a grim realisation seems to dawn on the Tengu. The ropes weren't something he'd thought of, even noticed. Now, examining them closely, he realises his error. "Of course of course of course." He squawks. "Cut the ropes!" Cocking his head back and forth, he examines the bundles of ropes while the others climb, before finally settling on one that he thinks will do the job. Wrapping his arms around it he dives in with his beak, gnawing away on the rope for a second before realising that it may not be the quickest way. Muttering quietly to himself, he walks over to the rope leading up above and grabs it with one hand. Steadying his other arm, he fires a shot at the rope that he'd tried to bite, hoping that it's the right one.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Ecko gladly takes the waterskin from Olivia and starts trying to fill it up from one of the barrels. As the banging gets louder, he cocks his head in nervousness, trying to gauge how long the door might hold. Reaching into his pack, he pulls out another bomb, and prepares to throw it only after the door gives way.

Sorry, rough few days Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Ecko seems to shrink back as the large creature tears into the room, swinging its enormous morningstar. Raising his pistol he tries to steady his hand enough to shoot at the beast, firing prematurely before struggling to reload it.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 The first thing Ecko does is go towards the torn corner and peer out into the wastelands, trying to get his bearings. He then goes over and picks up the intact vial of blue liquid, quickly putting it into his bag. He disregards the scroll without touching it, not caring for magic, and not trusting magic enough to even want to try and barter it. But he does pick up the darkwood box and cock his head at the sand snake inside. Not sure if any of these apply, but what the hell.

Int: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Ecko shakes his head at Jabbik, and follows quietly behind Nabbit. "More goblins coming." He remarks, speaking for the first time in quite a while. He looks at the pair of gnomes. "Is that not Brinx?" he asked, cocking his head at the female gnome. The tengu seems to be calculating something in his brain. One could almost see the gears turning. Without saying anything more, he turns quickly to the west and begins walking, squawking "Not much time." as he walks.

HP 6/10 Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Bomb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
After the shot, Ecko needs a second to recover, and surveys his surroundings, hoping to find anything of use - whether it's a place to hide or something that can damage the goblins, but he comes up with nothing. Glaring at the goblin who shot him, Ecko removes a bomb from his pack and throws it at the pair of archers.

I'll have a post up later, I'm actually not entirely sure what to do in this encounter. I certainly can't take another hit or two like that. But I also don't want to bomb I've found that Google Drive works pretty well for maps. Here's one from another game I'm in (Goblins are staging a Train Heist.) - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Anb8VhQd_5RNdFBWV1ZCTE1ZcFdoY0 dQMHlGRVVCOHc#gid=0 - As long as you use a couple of labels, I think it works and doesn't take ages like a lot of the more sophisticated programs.

Well s$+! x2 Coughing and sputtering with the smell of death and decay, Ecko raises his gun to fire at one of the goblins, but is struggling too much to breathe and his shot goes wild.

Accustomed to terrible smells, Ecko doesn't have as much of a reaction as the others do. He cocks his head as Nabbit runs to the other ladder. Not feeling as hopeful as the small gnome, Ecko walks towards the ladder poking into the floor, and climbs down a few rungs. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Ecko cocked his head at the man, wondering if he was making things up. Still, he decided to humour the strange man, and cocked his head the other way, listening for sounds. He thought he did hear some kind of high pitched whine, though part of him wondered if it was only because that's what had been suggested to him. "It's faint," he replied, "But I think I do."

So I am not sure how PBP games usually go with slowdowns around Christmastime, but I wanted to let you guys know that I will be in England from Dec 16th until the 30th. I should still be able to get on and post, but probably not more than once every two days or so. If it ends up that I'm slowing things down, obviously feel free to DMPC me.

'Great.' Ecko thinks, remembering Felkin running the distinct other direction when the trouble started. He looks back at his comrades, knowing that they can't possibly take a trip back through the smoke, especially with the others getting closer. He sighs. 'Okay, new plan.' He thinks, pointing his gun up at the goblins, and pulling back the hammer. "We come in now! Then we take you to Great Felkin. Otherwise we die and you never find him."

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 While most of the others are clearly having some trouble breathing, working with chemicals so frequently has taught Ecko some breathing techniques to avoid such poisons. Pausing for a moment to look behind him, he tried to make out how close the Goblins were to the group. If they're close enough that it seems reasonable, he'll toss a bomb back at them to slow them down.
Moving quickly to the front of the group, he headed towards the end of the tunnel, figuring that helping the others move more quickly wouldn't help much if the ladder didn't end up going anywhere.

Oh right, Range increments. Deciding that throwing a bomb isn't the best course of action, Ecko moves to follow the others as they climb an escape. Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 7

Disappointed to see his bomb not hit, Ecko checks his supplies, noting that it doesn't matter how many he still has if they can't escape this. Hoping to slow down the approaching goblins, he throws a second bomb at them. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Oh I hadn't realised we were skipping time. Ecko peers down at the approaching goblins. "Too bad we hadn't a way to bring the boiling meat with us." He says grimly. While they're still too far away to shoot, he pulls his gun out anyway, nervously looking around. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Ecko isn't sure how the goblin could possibly help the creature once they've left, but his prejudice against magic has blinded him to much of what it can do, and he has little choice but to accept. Moving over to Jabbik, he helps him to lower BloodyPaws. That leaves Jabbik, Asopous, Felkin, Ecko, and Olivia up above, I believe. And I think we are climbing down in that order.

Ecko smiles. "Lend me that elixir. I shall make you another one, provided I survive." He looks to Olivia, "Change in the pecking order, my dear. I'll come down last. No sense risking anyone else over this." He surveys those remaining up above. "Hopefully one of you will be able to catch me should I be forced to leap from the ledge." He murmurs.

"All that means is that it was glaring when it was petrified. I assume our expressions were not altogether different." Ecko reaches for his gun, looking remarkably distraught. "Of course, it's all academic if the healers have all climbed down already. Had I the materials, I could certainly make an elixir, but there is nothing here that would be of use." |
