I realize this isn't helping with our recent pace, but my family and I are heading out of town starting Friday for Spring Break. I have no idea what connectivity will be like. If I hold things up, bot Xing.
Sorry. :/
Heads up, crew. I'm leaving early-early tomorrow and will be out of town until next Tuesday. If I'm holding things up, bot me. :)
Hope everyone's having a good start to 2023. We all still onboard? If so, when do we think we'll kick this thing into gear again? :)
general holiday nuttiness does seem to be the way of things lately. Hope you get some rest (that goes for everyone).
Yep. This tends to be the tough time of year on people's schedules, unfortunately.
Hey, gang. My apologies for the absence. Contract work went to 200% over the last few weeks (due to some turnover at not one, but two of my clients) ... I guess it's good to be wanted. On top of that, my wife had a long business trip, so I was single-parenting it during that time.
Basically, time and brain-space have been minimum, and 0 hobby time has been in the cards. I'm going to try to catch up later today, and try to regain a 1/day posting rate during the week.
Thanks for putting up with my flakiness. :/
Yes, but in Justin-World, pants wear people and EVERYONE talks about Fight Club!
At least that's what I heard.
Cool. Sorry if it was slap-dash. it's mostly a place for me to catch cool-looking items for now. Didn't mean to create more work for you. :/
I started to put together a gear wish list. It's on that Group Loot doc (a new tab for Xing). I dropped the link to it in Xing's Equipment spoiler on her character sheet. :)
It's a bunch of random monk stuff, for the most part.
Since our last loot reconciliation, we've only gained the loot from the hag kill, correct? Which was 110g and the wand (that Uller has offered to help us fence).
I'm hoping to get Xing a few goodies before we head out looking for this wayward shipment (assuming we're agreed that's the plan).
I don't have a strong preference either way. It's clearly not RAW, but I don't know that I think Sage and Empyreal were intentionally left out.
By simply renaming it, it makes sense and doens't feel overpowered. Brutal Insight or something would make it work both thematically and mechanically.
*shrug* I'm fine letting it work for Senna.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If no one wants it, I'll take the spot after Choon. I can definitely get my thoughts together by then. :D
I'll plan for us to still be level 3 or 4 by then.
Similarly, who all has played the Ruby Phoenix Tournament adventure? I've always wanted to run it, but have never had an opportunity. If no one has played it, I could call dibs on a DM-stint while we're around levels 8 or 10.
Thoughts?
Hopping to 3rd level is fine with me. I'm not looking to super-speed-level or anything, but I'm fine jumping up to 3rd. That's what I need to get Tiger Style ... which is kind of central to Xing's theme.
2nd levels spells are pretty great for Clerics, too. /shrug
So who's next?
I was cooking up one adventure idea, but mine might need to be a bit higher level, too. Let me do some noodling to see if I can find or dream up something cool for 3rd level.
Fair warning: I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm going to give you guys my best effort, but I'm not very experienced as a Pathfinder GM. So teh going may be rough, but hopefully I can help facilitate some fun. :)
Since we're doing automatic bonus progression, I'm going to have to do some homework for gear. Does anyone have a favored site or resource for easily/quickly looking through gear options?
I love free crap! (or feats, in this case.)
I'm 99% sure I'm taking Power Attack. I'd take Tiger Style, but that isn't available until 3rd level.
And WAY TO GO, US! Thanks for running the show so far, Justin. I've enjoyed it. :)
I definitely recognized the second one. A shot from my youth!
Lol. Well, since we're talking about a rule we don't like ... that might get Yash into some trouble. I mean, I guess that's up to you whether it's worth it or not. :D
Lol. Gotcha. She didn't exactly spell it out, huh?
I'm not trying to belabor the pranking ... I just thought it'd be a funny addition to Xing if she doesn't really understand them. Like Winston from New Girl. :)
Thanks for updating those, SR. I've gone ahead and cleaned the rest of the loot doc up. :)
We should be good to go for the next round of lootz!
Sounds good to me. I was waiting to hear from Yash on it, but that was my leaning, as well. :)
Cool. I was thinking along those same lines, but didn't want to skew everyone's perspective ... since I'm the guy directly benefitting.
Unless we hear that Yash has a differing vote, I'll go with that interpretation.
Sabelina wrote: I'd also like to thank those of you who have kept track of loot and wand charges and such. I never do those things. Ha! Same. The entire purpose of that Sheet is that so we can share the load a bit. :)
I have an Automatic Bonus Progression rule question. How is it done for unarmed strikes? Can I put my "Weapon Attunement" on a pendant to effectively make it an Amulet of Might Fists +1? Can I put it directly onto Xing's body (making every unarmed strike enhanced)?
Or do I need to put it on a glove, and only that fist is +1? That feels awkward to me, but I don't want to take advantage of the rules, either.
Love to hear thoughts.
HERE is the most 'official' answer I could find. :)
Oof. Also, do we have any idea how many charges are left on that wand? O.o
EDIT:
THIS POST:
4 charges
THIS POST:
1 charge (2nd skulk fight)
THIS POST:
1 charge (just after 2nd skulk fight)
So I believe the wand is at 44/50 charges remaining. I'll update the Loot tracker page (unless you're tracking it on your own profile, M.C. Let me know.
Oh yeah, and you all should have Paizo PM's with an invite to a loot tracker I threw together. I'm open to feedback.
I'm pretty much assuming everyone is taking one of the MW backpacks. :)
Gotcha. So that's 918g earned. Splitting that 5 ways means we each can add 183.6g to our characters. :)
Okay, so what we've nabbed as loot so far.
THIS POST:
8 GP
12 daggers
3 Tanglefoot bags
3 MW backpacks
THIS POST:
3x MW Backpack
3x Tanglefoot Bags
6x Daggers
1x MW Thieves’ Tools
10 GP
And we got a Wand of CLW at some point. I couldn't quickly track that down.
What else did I miss?
I also forgot we were using Automatic Bonus Progression .. which makes item parity less of an issue. I mean, if one person is holding all teh cool doo-dads, we may want to revisit it. But power levels between characters shouldn't be too problematic (at least from a bonus perspective).

So, how do we want to handle inventory?
I’ve kind of been in games where we handled it 1 of 2 ways.
Option 1 is just having people claim what they want or makes sense for their character. This is definitely simpler, but over time can create imbalances in player wealth .. and largely relies on the honor system to track parity.
Option 2 is more involved, but does a better job of maintaining that parity. This is how we did it in a previous game, and it worked pretty well.
We created a Sheets doc that tracked all gained loot as “Group Loot” with secondary “Personal Loot” tabs for each person.
Basically, all money (or other ‘liquid’ assets like gems, etc) was immediately split equally among the characters.
Looted gear (weapons, armor, wondrous items, etc) was dropped onto the Group Loot tab, but assigned to the person who carried it. If you’re carrying it, you can use it, but you don’t own it … it’s still a group decision what to do with it.
If a person wants to own an item, they can “buy” it from the group loot at a value equal to what the group could sell it off as (generally 50% the cost of the item).
Consumables (particularly smaller consumables) generally got left on Group Loot, and used as party resources, unless there was an item that a person just really wanted to have on their own … and it was treated as other items above.
I’m also open to other ideas, if people have them.
I vastly underestimated the impact that the beginning of summer would have on my posting.
I'm going to try to create some discipline around getting at least 1 post up in the mornings moving forward. I"m still here! I want to see what's next! Don't give up hope on me! :D

... all I got was COVID. Did you get a t-shirt, too? There was no t-shirt, though there is a stubborn, lingering cough. So that's cool. :/
The claws are coming out now.
I'm sorry for all the hassle, RD. And I'm especially sorry to hear about your pet death; that's rough. I sure hope things smooth out for you.
I've had my fair share of surprise-busy-times, so I certainly won't hold it against you. :)
Lol. No, it does not!
It's not exactly empathy that's guiding Xing's suggestion here, though. More like a survivor's "do we know what we're messing with?" approach in general.
I don't anticipate muck dwellers speak Common - or are sympathetic to our goal of cleaning the sewers - but it seemed like the neighborly option given that were trying to establish a friendly neighborly reputation. :/
Hmm. Weird. But yeah, I can see that.
stormraven wrote: Xing, sorry I didn't place your character in the right spot. I was moving the group around and screwed that up.
We still need a couple players to check in to Roll20 so I can assign their icons.
No biggie. I'm happy to help adjust stuff. :)
And t looks to be working for me.
I'm not trying to drag out this rp / Q&A scene, but I'm trying to establish some reasons why Xing would be interested in sticking around. She's definitely curious about this place (which is somewhat motivating), but she's also been chased out of many towns before, so she's skeptical that any new place is "the one" for her, ya know? :)

... though, honestly, I could find a way to enjoy cleaning trash off a beach. /shrug
Noice! Hope you did something fun. :)
Quick heads up, so everyone can plan accordingly. I have a trip coming up next week (full Sunday through Saturday). So I'll be available as normal this week, but you won't likely hear from me at all from 2/27 through 3/5.
Just wnat to give everyone a chance to be ready for Xing to go Uber-silent for a bit.
stormraven wrote: Thanks for your patience with the wall o text narrative bits and monologues. We should be at the end of those except for setting the scene for new areas and nice bits of color. I just didn’t want to drag out the scene setting and getting you the basics of Threshold. I meant t respond to this, but got pulled int work stuff (and then forgot). I loved the descriptions. You know I love me some colorful narrative immersion. (just take a look at my character intro descriptions. Some have called them excessive. I call them fun.)
Gotcha. Yeah, I dont know why it was written in that specific way (or why it wasn't clarified/modified later). They could just as easily have said "your casting stat".
It makes even more sense to use Charisma if it's a spell-like ability. Those usually are keyed to Charisma, anyway, right?
That was a Core spell, but Oracle was an added class, correct? I'm good with that shift. It makes sense.
alright, I kicked all of my clients in their demanding nuts and then washed the battle-fatigue down with a bottle of questionable red wine. I'm back in the saddle.
again, sorry folks. Hope my pause didn't cause any undue stress. Let's discover Threshold!
