Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

I like that once you showed your belly the vargr became a perfect gentleman. :P

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

:) Thank you, everyone! Have fun! :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

That's one of the things for me with Urban fantasy. I just don't think I've ever read an Urban fantasy novel I didn't enjoy. Fantasy has been really hit and miss. It doesn't help that I'm not a fan of the Lord of the rings (I love the Hobbit, though!), which means that a lot of the genre has a lot of things that don't interest or inspire me (or even that I find tedious - like names I can't pronounce).

As for EAVE and moya becoming friends... Maybe they still will. :P. Mdt can probably pull the character off every bit as well as I did. :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Honestly? A little, yeah! Don't at all feel bad for that, though. You came in, being a great player who's super enthusiastic and has a clear passion for the genre. And the game needs and deserves players like that. :). I don't think I can give that!

I think the difference falls into fiction versus fantasy. The more simulationist something gets, the less into it I become. This probably reflects a little poorly on me as a player, but I feel that I'm not very good at sandbox games, and need a bit of railroad as a player. I mostly roleplay for story directly, and while I feel you can do both, and do both well, that I am horrible at contributing to that sort of environment. If that makes sense.

So, I think the players (and probably dm) are better served by having other players who are passionate and responsive and driven in a way I'm finding hard to be! I don't think there's anything wrong with the players, the game, or even myself, just that it isn't a good fit for me. :). And I'm glad to have experienced it, all the same. :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Also, you can continue using EAVE if you like, or murder her, or ship her off, or have her decide to go a different direction to get launched home, or... something! Just that you can do what you like with her.

Also, thanks a lot for always remembering to have the bots sing for people, it always made my day to read that. :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Alrighty, Kitty! I still super-enjoy games with you, just sci-fi seems to not really be my jam :(

Thanks for the story! :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Kitty... I'm really sorry to say. But, I don't think I like traveler as a system very much. I've enjoyed rumbling around as EAVE getting up to mischief as expected, but all of the systems and how things work just feel sort of draining to me. The story you've put forth has been fun and interesting, and I've enjoyed being a part of them.

I've also been finding the more I try to get into sci-fi style games, the less drive and passion I actually have for them. I definitely enjoy shenanigans, and I enjoy the strange aspects, but I have a really hard time building up any real drive to post or interact or the like. I don't think that's on you, but rather, a substantial lack of experience in the genre on my part.

Would it be any trouble for you if I stepped out?

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE will go with the smaller crew to bolster skills. The Phoenix may be her ship, but success of the mission outweighs comfort, and her little singer bots will keep everyone company in her stead. :P

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

"EAVE thinks crew is going anyway... and upgrading suites results in stronger life support systems, yes? For when crew hyperventilates during panic inducing situation." she pauses. "Or can... not, and simply take on an extra person with no modifications. Would be a waste of space not to, yes?"

EAVE's overall opinion is to take as many as is not a burden; she understands the longing for home, though will not share that as her primary goal in returning them. Only arguing along the lines of 'pointless not to take them'.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

So best to leave at least one single occupancy? :P

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Are there any drawbacks other than expense to changing the Kektys's rooms?

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

"Possibly in cold sleep waiting for Engineer Glitch, yes!" EAVE finishes for her.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

And how does EAVE's training work? :O

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE would suggest we take anyone directly tied to someone that we pick, assuming they desire that.

How many crew do we need for both ships to not be 'skeletons'?

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE stares at Moyasmedsev unblinkingly for a moment. Its sensors flip off and back on a few times. Unlike Moyas, EAVE chose to blink for the sake of others. "EAVE is EAVE. This is Major." the little bot says, weapons array - completely unarmed - waggling. "Fur-faces. With Muzzles. And drool. Run around performing urinary conquests in never ending game of who is best." EAVE offers. Her voice is bright and cheery and far too excited for what she's saying.

"EAVE's intelligence is FAR from artificial. It is VERY REAL, Advocate Moyas." she quips.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE is aware that the thieving dog people repaired the ship, but she's not exactly big on the -numbers- side of it. If someone who knows better about numbers than EAVE were to look at said numbers, EAVE might calm down. But as it stands, she doesn't know whether the transaction was even remotely fair. Just that they took, and then fixed, and no one has told her there was any sort of deal made that they had any negotiating power over. :P

"It is not full of dog people." EAVE offers up. "Dog people also armed to the muzzle, and can take what they want. EAVE doesn't trust thieving dog people. What is benefit of staying with thieving dog people over taking thieving dog people's goods and selling them elsewhere?"

Out of character, I have no preference for where we are. In character, EAVE wants to slowly lead the crew back over to the Darrian side of space, which she is aware is quite far away.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE HAS TIME. :|

EAVE stares unblinkingly at Warren as he disregards that the thieving wolf people were thieving wolf people.

After a few moments, she bobs her body in time. "EAVE agrees on recovering crew and selling things."

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Int/Recon: 2d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6, 6) + 1 + 2 = 15

EAVE doesn't know how to interact with the new Droyne at first. After the others had returned with a new friend. But the very moment that she gets the opportunity to talk to them without the new people around, she's absolutely livid. Or... as livid as she can be. The Vargr had STOLEN their THINGS. And she's very vocal about it (when the STRANGERS aren't around).

When the Droyne is around, at least at first, and especially when mechanics and engineers are working on the ship, EAVE does her best to remain motionless, pretending to be just another of the repair drones.

Eventually, she figures out that Moya is just the new Scandalous (Not Malt; Malt wasn't nearly so prissy) and grows to accept them as part of the new normal, and her crew. When the others suggest the possibility of hiring a crew, or mounting the other ship, EAVE is very enthusiastic about requesting the return of some of her former crew. They likely didn't want to live on a giant kennel, anyway.

Barring the return of some of their crew, she was more than happy to run supplies from place to place if that was suggested as well... but she wanted to move back towards Darrian sectors and would suggest whichever paths could get them in that direction sooner. She didn't say as much, but those more skilled in astrogation would eventually figure out the little bot's plot.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Oooooh, snap.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

It is at this point that I realize, in Imperial Space, EAVE does not get a share. D: Quick. Someone write up an airtight will that the owner of EAVE received all of Malt and Scandalous's shares. :0

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE is currently keeping her forward facing appendages clean, and staying out of trouble... and hopefully staying below radar. Having been given the camouflage of them thinking she's not a superbot, that's exactly what she'll try to give them... until the eventual breakout sequence where EAVE is a hero. :3

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE stays in the small spaces of the ship, taking her data chips with her. Occasionally, Vargr hear her tikka-tikking away from them, but she doesn't approach any of them. It could easily be stated that the little bot being left on the ship had hurt her feelings and had only managed to add to the rift that was programmed into her towards the stupid dog people. She did watch the droyne more closely, having come to rely on Malt more, and didn't shy away from the nearby humans nearly as much.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

"Tell Dogpeople to send engineers, many of EAVE's crew are in danger!" EAVE calls over the comms to her allies.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE has armor 7. Does that mean that she takes no damage from the electrical arc?

EAVE listens to the attempts at communication from the other ship, and responds, though does not use the comms, by simply repeatedly saying "Barbarbarbarbar." After a moment, she splits up into two halves, one slipping away towards engineering, and the other examining Scandalous.

"Oh, no. Civilian Scandalous." comes the quiet voice. "All of your clothes will go unworn. But fear not, EAVE recorded your pretend session. The one where you were doing a documentary with yourself about what happened during the crash."

Meanwhile, in the other room, with Glitch, the smaller-EAVE looks over her form, saying nothing. Demi-EAVE takkataks back the way it came.

Once it returns, it recombines with EAVE, "Major says Engineer Glitch is pinned down." then she immediately takes off to try to figure out which of the life support pods had taken damage from the leap. A small part of her had known that leaping back was going to kill some of them; many had died on the initial trip, after all. But she had not voiced that opinion, knowing that the data that she carried needed to be returned home.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE is happy to aid in doing so. She's studied the piloting in order to be extra arms... I believe.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE would at least like to try to capture the fighter ship if I didn't miss that. It seems an invaluable asset.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

"Jackpot!" EAVE announces, zooming around the rooms, collecting up the bits of jewelry and cosmetics and shoving them into their cases, before sliding them back through the gap she'd come through. "Scandalous needed new clothes!" she adds, as she begins doing the same with all of the clothing that looked like it would fit the woman perfectly. She's gentler with it, in order to try to prevent any tearing.

"EAVE wonders who would want guns." she adds as she reaches into the vault to pick it clean with her tendril, sliding everything out and into the open for easier carrying. After preparing for everything to be picked up and moved, she collects the personal computer and carries it out with her to place it gently onto her seat on the Pennace. She then returns to begin helping the others to catalogue their found loot.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 3 + 1 = 8
2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5, 4) + 3 + 1 = 13
2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 + 1 = 12
2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 3 + 1 = 14

EAVE is more than happy to get to work in an untethered fashion, quickly zipping through spaces no one else could easily reach. A derelict with gravity? Best day ever!

She skitters to and fro, dipping into every alcove she can, in search of what an EAVE-bot liked best. Secrets and Shinies.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE is always happy to help anyone else with whatever they want to do. Unless it's nap time or bath time. And nap time comes before bath time, not after.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE really wants some magnetic feetses, along with more salvage. She also thinks we should stock up on gogurts for the humans and will advocate for gathering seeds from each species, especially her chosen plant. :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE has 18 cold sleep life support pods that it's found on the island in the Phoenix, and 22 cold sleep life support pods that it's found in the Midnight Rose.

So we just need to move 22 sleep pods to the Phoenix, for a total of 40 tons.

After the pods, I vote for grabbing the eternal-battery alien fighter, assuming Major+EAVE can count as extra hands for a pilot to make the check less ridiculous. That will free us up to have two teams doing on-world activities and not be stranded waiting for a bus. :3

"Do not fear, Pilot Dev. EAVE has learned how to aid in piloting. No need to ruin your shoulder!"

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE thinks that leaving the way we came is illogical. Necessary, yes, but whole ship in good shape torn to shreds. Barely survived the first trip. Need to take extra replacement parts of anything we can get. Should get extra ships and all upgrades before leaving. Probably cannot return. EAVE has collected data on sky tops but perhaps should have more. Can relay data that should prevent repeat travels. Put in a box and keep it safe in case everyone dies. EAVE desires magnetic feet. Humans and Darrians and Droyne likely desire food. And guns. And replacement parts for notdying suits."

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

That is a fair assessment. EAVE votes that we begin thunderdome battles immediately to reduce the number of humans and darrians down to one. Because they are all of similar personality and trope.

Warren and Dev may go first.

Then, afterwards, we can have the victor fight Tam. Because all you biologicals think alike, too. :P

*Scuttles off muttering something about roboracists.*

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Beholder is still my top pick, but I don't know if they're still around as much :(

For in character reasons, I'd prefer another Darrian buddy... but 'Stern' is always problematic for me to play with.

Havoc Prince's was never finished, but I loved his Robopower to the Robopeople background.

As I tend to prefer personality over background and such, I'd probably lean towards Keeth over Gabriel.

Overall, that looks like - from want most to want least (no offense to everyone!): Beholder, Keeth, Je-Gan, Gabriel, Havocprincebot (who would be much higher if complete)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

That, or we can RESCUE THEM.

Ill look later tonight. Probably. I've been horrifically busy. :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

"Perhaps we take time learning about them first? Give crash course, then RIP THEM OUT gently?" EAVE asks.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Good to hear, Kitty. :)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Feeling any better, Kitty?

Everything okay, Warren?

What's going on, Scandalous? Good or bad? Hopefully everything goes well.

Speaking of... have we lost Malt?

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE is a floating pair of +1s (or a +2 if she only helps one person who has no other help) for the following skill: Mechanics. Until the computer is up and running she only counts as one unit, as the other is busy controlling the AR-B's (which also provides a +1). Please let me know if someone is doing an engineering check during any timeframe her bonuses to mechanics aren't being put to use so I can give her some training there to help out some down the line!

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

During downtime, EAVE first trains with Scandalous in flying the ship - Scandalous had a head start, but EAVE was really only in it for helping a pilot or copilot to function properly. Afterwards, EAVE begins work on learning to organize and quickly manipulate her pack. Being a strong Alpha was hard, but she knew she would get the hang of it, in time.

At night, during those first two weeks she mostly looks for food, but by the end of it, she's actively using a small menagerie of her friendly bots to help carry more food back during her escapades.

She prepares the two bots as any good Major would, and explains to them how their sacrifices will not be in vain, and how ARB-7 and ARB-8 will have their names etched into her memory for all of time - the greatest honor she can bestow.

By the time the fissionables are cut and ready, she's already moving her units into place to begin work on the ship. She quickly introduces each component as she recognizes it and teaches them the basics of repair on each of them. Each is given a different job in time, and a different 'whir' to make while they work. Good help was neither seen nor heard, but fun help was certainly heard. Oh, the quips she was teaching them.

Once everything begins exploding, EAVE calls out to her minions:

01000001 01110101 01110100 01101111 01010010 01100101 01110000 01100001 01101001 01110010 01000010 01101111 01110100 01110011 00100001 00100000 00100000 01010010 01101111 01101100 01101100 00100000 01001111 01110101 01110100 00100001

Mechanics (EAVE): 2d6 + 0 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6) + 0 + 2 = 12
Remote Ops (Major): 2d6 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 0 + 1 = 8

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

So, one week buys a 0? How long does it take to buy a 1?

Because EAVE will now have Piloting 0 and Remote Ops 0 after this, which makes a lot of these things easier. (An extra pair of arms for difficult maneuvers, for example)

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Then after the first week of learning to pilot, EAVE will go steal the other ship with ETERNAL POWER, and fly away. KTHXbYE

But seriously, EAVE learning to help with piloting is valuable, as is remote operations so she can Aid pilots or aid warren when they're necessary. I don't care which weeks she does so on, but she'll gather food on the other weeks.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Is EAVE able to practice remote operations while gathering food? Like bringing a couple bots out with her while she snags the foods?

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

If Scandalous trains in flight, EAVE will join with her, so that she can act as 'extra arms' in the battleship on the other ship if we go back for it! Otherwise, EAVE will focus on finding food and otherwise focus on aiding the others in mechanics checks when they need it. If Scandalous doesn't train in flight, EAVE will study the remote operations program on the computer, and then play with the bots during other people's downtimes to learn how to manage them better, so that she can aid that check once Dev is up and running again.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

I also have nothing.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

So: Is there a hangar we don't use on the other ship? If so, that seems best. What's two irradiated hangars among friends? If not, ruining the planet that's likely to die to spinny death top for 50k years is the most pragmatic option.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

I'd suggest outside of the doomhangar that we can't go into that's already heavily irradiated?

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

EAVE desires that you all have happy holidays.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

Dex: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5 Go on.

Bestbot/Darrian 8G5D76/8G5975

But then we'd also need an awful lot of tamper evident bands to make the chainmail for a pixie. Because making it out of iron would result in a lot of cursing, methinks...

:>

Regardless, lots of stuff I don't know. Thanks, kitty!
