When some weeks ago I warned that I would be slow due to some changes, I never thought I would be that slow. And now it's Summer time and that means even more work.
So, being honest, I've been slow for more than just a couple of weeks, anyway, and even though I love RotR, I love SoP and I love this game in particular, I think it's better to keep most of my games aside, since I don't know if I'll have time enough at least until September.
I wish you all the best, guys. It seems this AP still avoids me! :P
Just wanted to say I'm going under a formation for lip-synching, dubbing and off-voice narrative. It's going to take away some time from me, specially at the beginning, so I'll be (even) slower than usual.
Okay, I think I need to make a touch attack with Cure if I want to harm people. In this case, ranged touch thanks to the Reach talent. I'm also going to assume that, from a spot more or less adjacent to Zarque's, all I can see is Red and Yellow.
Drek once more invokes his energies, trying to create a gap in the undead ranks.
Cure (Harm) ranged touch attack, vs melee:3d6 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (1, 6, 5) + 4 - 4 = 12 Damage:1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Save vs Will for half damage:3d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) + 8 = 21
It's a completely underpowered attack, with both an attack roll and a save, but that's what I have.
Sorry, skipped notifications because I was soooo sleepy...
Drek's not sure that his help will be needed, and in any case he can't do much, so he keeps his magical energies to cure his friends if they get into trouble.
Drek greets all the group, and makes an arm gesture presenting two folks that come with him.
"Hi, all. These are Mirah and Gurin. Father Zantus assigned them to help us fighting the disease."
He does some itroductions for the mewcomers as well, and then asks them.
"Father Zantus said you were no fighters, but could give magical/healing back up. Are you guys aware of what we're diving on? Anything you want to add?"
"Alright, Father. Send the acolites, we'll meet them there. I'll see how much gold we can gather to speed up those materials"
Drek goes back to tell his companions about it, thinking he was maybe wrong to assume the church was about to help without getting something in return.
"We will need volunteers, people who doesn't care putting their lives at risk for the greater good. I swear we will do all that's in our hands to ensure their safety, but their numbers will infinitely help down there."
He shrugs.
"We thought you might have a better capacity to summon them. Oh, and we should have a word also about some Holy Water..."
Walking and speaking with difficulty, Drek asks if no one wants to stay here to watch their potential movements. "All we have to do is find some clothes and maybe some spices, and this should help us with the stench. Then we can be back and explore with less risk."
"We can't go in there with that horrible stink. It wouldn't let us investigate properly, not talking about fighting whatever."
Drek still coughs a bit.
"We need something to protect our noses."
He could cure nausea, but not prevent it, and it would be a problem if he fell to nausea himself. Probably a handkerchief with preventive herbs or balms applied to our noses? If so, some of us could go fetch what's needed while others watch that nothing comes out/gets in.
Drek quickly jumps over the puddle, launching drops of mud everywhere when he lands. He needs a bit of time to recover, but hastely goes back to the chasing.
"Yes, I know, there's even a whole organisation dedicated to unearth Thassilonian things. But, given how things are, it wouldn't do any harm to at least note down who's interested in something which comes from the same source as the you know what from you know where" Drek explains. "At least, making Quink tell us about them. But up to you guys."
He also nods and expresses agreement when the lighthouse is mentioned as a potential point of investigation.
"Given your findings, there's not much else we can add" Drek sums up. "Burn the ghouls, Thassilonian symbols... I guess the most interesting part was that he offered to buy Thassilonian parafernalia in orden to sell it to potentially interested clients." He pauses in case Zarque or Idun want to add something. "I believe it would be interesting to find out who wants to buy these things."
"Good morning" Drek greets with a smile, even if not truly from the heart. Somehow, he feels this man will give them information that will only turn things clearer, but worse.
"Well, we would like to know about these symbols here" he asks, showing him the paper. "Oh, and whatever you can tell us about ghouls."
Drek adds from his own harvest. "Say, Sheriff, weren't the Lighthouse Crimes from years ago executed by a butcher? If so, maybe we also need to have a look at the lighthouse just in case." He thinks over it for a second. "It's a fitting place to hide things or people, anyway, since nobody seems to - or wants to - pay attention to it."
A new dawn. Smell of breakfast, stretching muscles, morning prayers.
Drek is quite interested in what the Sheriff has to tell them, more so given he's a bit lost as to what our who lies beyond all the clues they've found. He truly hopes they suddenly find something that helps put all these clues together.
"Depending on what the Sheriff has to tell us, we might want to have a look at the lighthouse. I think that's were the butchery from terras ago took place, right? Maybe we should ask the Sheriff about it, I don't have an the info."
"I wasn't here at the time, but... wasn't a butcher involved in some crimes decades ago?" Drek shakes his head. "But yeah, it won't do us any harm to rest and clear our minds for tomorrow."
"I'll be at the Rusty Dragon when you're done, folks. Need to put my head together with an these undead things. I don't think the Life Spirits approve."
Note: Drek totally doesn't want to offend anyone, nor does he imply he feels guilty. No one else needs to feel guilty either, but of course you guys can if you want to. It's not Drek's intention to force you into reading this as well, but you can of course, and your personal data will be handled privately either if you do or if you don't, unless you decide otherwise. No goblins were hurt while writing this text.
"Well, honestly Sileven, I think we don't have much to tell you... We haven't discovered much else than what is obvious. At least I didn't" he adds, half joking.
Drek thinks carefully about Milah's words. Quartering the corpse do that someone else reassembles it? "That seems quite an elaborate plan. We ought to know who else is into this before they can cause greater havoc, and we're still in darkness. Where shall we start?" he asks, more to himself than to any other.
But did that really happen? I'm not aware that there was some loot - and I mean loot, as in, not the rod which is obviously the key item who every single bad guy is looking for - that hasn't been shared. If it is, please point me to it because it seems I'm losing my reading capabilities.
Also - and I'm not really siding here, I want that to be clear - I think the "risking the settlement's safety" is an out of order argument here when we've gone to the outskirts, locked ourselves in a safe room, tied up the guy and stood 6 Vs 1 in case it might have managed to set itself free. It was not a careless "let's do this right here right now" situation, in case you ask my opinion. That, of course, doesn't mean everyone has to agree; in character, there's people who doesn't want anything to do with undead and that's perfectly legit.
"Secrets?" Drek asks, surprised. "Guys, this is serious. We've done this to try to learn things that might help us defend Sandpoint. I hope you're not keeping important things to yourselves..."
Drek still doesn't know what's going on here, and the insinuation that some others might have own agendas doesn't really make him feel more comfortable.
"So yes, it is a good idea to copy the scheme of you're going to erase it. Everything that we can keep proof of will be of help. Oh, and someone should put that out poor guy to rest."(In case no one has done it already)
"As much as I love to amplify my knowledge on the afflictions of the body and the soul, I think this poor lad has given us all what he has to give." Drek addresses Sil's worries. "I know we're dealing with dangerous things, and we're too close to play gods, but hopefully the knowledge we got will be useful saving many others from the same fate."
"We shall do as the authority says, then" Drek agrees, "but have in mind this when, if, some more corpses or even people start showing a spread of the potential disease, if it is to be called so. The info we will not have by then might represent our demise."
Drek loses interest in the corpse, keeping to his own thoughts about possible alternate futures for this event.
"Ah, good idea to use this balm, yes..." Drek comments when he smells the familiar odor.
Heal:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
"It's funny, because the state of the corpse is much worse than it should have been, judging by the time it supposedly happened. So the balm was indeed a very good idea."
Drek thinks carefully about the condition of the body. "I wonder what could have made the flesh rot that fast..."
He also explains what happened to it - the cutting and tearing - in case any of his companions can shed any light into it.
"This must come to an end, and we will do everything in our hands" Drek says. He feels very, very worried, specially after hearing Bethany's story. Life shouldn't be taken away just like that.
