Chronicle fishing is basically picking and choosing scenarios to play with specific PCs for gear/boons by looking up chronicle sheets of scenarios you have yet to play.

as to why its frowned upon, reasons range from having knowledge of the scenarios challenges and how to deal with them quickly, to being a cheap way to min/max a pc.

How is this a chaotic action?
Davos's use of a gnome hook hammer in combat breaks with the knight's tradition of fighting with a longsword (a chaotic character challenges traditions and represents the destruction of order, CRB p. 167-168).

According to the RAW, A cavalier/knights tradition is fighting with any simple or martial weapons... Even Paladins and inquisitors have the option of using a favored weapon of their god... but its' not required!

Unless you're using some weird archtype or something. I'm sure there are some of those out there.

Frankly I wouldn't play in a game where the DM looks at the character and says "nope! Not cookie cutter enough..."

Nope, there is no mention of simple and martial weapon proficiency being a Cavalier tradition.

I used the longsword as an example. Lawful Cavaliers would have different traditional weapons based on region and culture.

The Lawful alignment is not a requirement to be a Cavalier but if a player decides to play a Lawful Cavalier they have to follow tradition (RAW, CRB p 167-168). And combat has no exemption from tradition, if anything you would find tradition prevalent in combat situations.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Cavaliers are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, light, and medium) and with shields (except tower shields).

I dont know what you mean by not being a cavalier tradition since this is the actual text from the prd on the APG's page for cavalier :/

I'm not sure bout wondrous items in ink form existing for purchase under normal circumstances, but some scenarios do give access to special magical tatoos.

my sorcerer does have two that he gained in that method.

Grand Lodge

scenario 6-01 trial by machine.

Upon inspection of a few rooms, my character starts signing a modified version of frozen's "Do you want to build a snowman?", Took 5 mins for the GM to stop laughing imagining the PC as Anna singing into a doorknob.

Grand Lodge

usually there is a reference to where the item is from on the chronicle sheet...

but besides that the closest thing i found as a mask that gives a bonus to intimidate is the orc item: battle mask from the ARG that gives a +1 to demoralize on your intimidate checks...

There is a certain Sorcerer that is so good looking he charmed a succubus and an alu demon into a three way and lived to tell the tale

Grand Lodge

Nice, thank you very much :)

Hey everyone,

I recently played 4-20 words of the ancient and at the end the wizard and I did the ceremony and got branded,

my question is about the side effect of getting branded (-1 to all stats) is this a permanent thing? and if so how can we get rid of the penalties? we were thinking of using restoration spells but the GM is more in thinking that we have to get rid of the brand which might need more then that...

reason why im asking is because the gm said that the scenario doesn't specify that the stat change is from a drain or ability damage.

thanks in advance for your help.

PS: I don't mind if I have to remove the brand since my pc is a sorc, to get rid of the neg stats

I suggest you take look at aquisition inc. on youtube.

If you don't know what it is, basically its the guys from penny arcade who play DnD during the Pax expo. they also have podcasts of their games in between expos.

it could give you an idea on what to do for your own thing.

i got a few chuckle from my very beautiful but intimidating mysterious stranger human gunslinger raised by a half-orc gangster who named her after his favorite alcohol: Sake

Grand Lodge

Hi,
I am about to run the caravan section of brinewall legacy and was wondering this:
Is it normal that caravan encounters give no exp?

thanks in advance.

I have GMed this scenario myself at the higher tier, but while reading it even the lower tier tactics never say when exactly the BBEG starts to melee and it does not even state who it actually targets first. Hell when I ran it some of the pcs had actually lined up in a line by accident resulting in a near fatal attack on the healer.

Rats of Round mtn BBEG low tier tactics block:

Before Combat:
Before burrowing up to the landing, Xiangnuer casts detect magic and suppresses her frightful presence.

During Combat:
Should the PCs engage Xiangnuer, she no
longer suppresses her frightful presence and immediately
uses her breath weapon. In later rounds she wades into
melee, using Lunge to extend her reach whenever needed.

Morale: Xiangnuer’s primary goal is to add new treasures to
her hoard. If reduced below 40 hit points, she realizes the
PCs are no easy score and attempts to flee by flying away
at full speed, finding a spot in the shadows, and burrowing
deep within Round Mountain.

for campaign 3 I think it should be more like:

Level 9: The Golden Serpent
Level 9: The Sundered Path
Level 9: Pagoda of the Rat

since pagoda of the rat is the sundered path's direct sequel.

Pagoda spoiler:
You start off in the Hao Jin tapestry after defeating the dragon and finally reaching the pagoda, and is the reason why they actually sent you in the tapestry in the first place in sundered path.

Grand Lodge

well if they ever create PFS PCs then they will be able to apply the chronicle to that PC when it reaches level 8

Grand Lodge

yes they will get a chronicle sheet that can be applied to a PC that is between 8th and 10th level.
in a PFS setting the module can be played by any PC that is within the level range.

and yes you get a copy of the chronicle sheet as well.

I am no longer allowed to charm monster an alu-demon and her succubus mother for a 3-way in a hellknight's master bedroom.

5-03 The Hellknight's Feast

the young charismatic sorcerer Drake McCliffer is sitting at a table sipping a glass of a wine as he recounts his latest exploit:

spoiler:
So the group meets the succubus' daughters on the second floor and I decide that I don't want the nearest desirable man-eating she-devil to suck my soul out(pun-intended) and successfully cast charm monster on it. I kindly asks her to help me out to which she replied to take her hand so she can save me, being chaotic (read as a bit of bat manure crazy)I decide to take the extended hand. she proceeds to teleport us to the master bedroom for some "rest."
As I undid the top of my robes to show off my sihedron tattoo off, I ask her if we can make the moment more interesting by having the party and the other demons join them. she instead says she had a better idea and spoke to someone via telepathy. next thing you know her mother shows up for a three way.
A bit shocked I took a few steps back and for the hell of it tried another charm monster on the Succubus, and what do you know SUCCESS!
now here I am stuck between two very attractive she-devils, knowing my friends were nearby I magically opened the door to let them know where the party was at, unfortunately mother was not too happy with my friends showing up and attacked them with her remaining daughter.
the wizard successfully casted feeblemind on the mother while the daughter was put down to a permanent rest.
the party decided to finish off the succubus and with a tear in my eye I told her farewell before she left.

Grand Lodge

My sorcerer left his signature on the wall of Amara Lee's lighthouse in way of the kirin and when i run the game characters with very high perception check can spot it, which leads to some funny "wtf" moments with some pcs who has met him in other adventures.

had one inquisitor say "he's everywhere..." with a look of horror.

How does an imaginary Kraken save the day!?

rolled nat 20 and a +8 in bluff and bbeg rolled low enough to be believe the lie

My first pfs char name had to do with the fact he is a sorcerer of draconic bloodline and I wanted a irish/Scottish last name.

as for my second char who I haven't used yet I made it up while thinking of her backstory, a little girl who was adopted by the half-orc who killed her parents, who seemed to have respond to the her new father's favorite alcohol sake. so her name is now Sake Orcblood

Grand Lodge

unless i'm mistaken you do get a chronicle sheet but depending on your character lvl you may not get all of the tier rewards

I.E. running a subtier 4-5 of a lvl 1-5 scenario and your character is lvl 2. you would only have access to the tier 1-2 rewards and ALL subtier part of the chronicle sheet.

Cyphermage Dilemma:
In the final area our party backed away into the cave's entrance, everyone readies their action and my level 1 sorcerer who has a +9 in bluff decides to surprise the boss and scare her into believing he had brought a Kraken.
so here comes the boss with her hostage and my sorcerer calls out: ATTACK MY KRAKEN! (roll the die and hit natural 20) and next thing you know only our summoner's eidolon succeeds in his save against the bluff.
as for my sorcerer's surprise round he threw a tanglefoot bag at the boss.
