I apologize to everyone, but I have been moving toward a departure from these forums for some time and find that I cannot put it off anymore.

I no longer have the energy or desire to continue with these games.

I thank you all for the experiences and have enjoyed playing with each of you, but I am leaving. I realize that this leaves the game in a bad state, and for that I am sorry.

Dol takes four silver pieces and slides them into the little grooves. If nothing happens, he will use four gold pieces instead.

Yeah, that is a standard utility spell I like to carry on a scroll but I haven't had time or money to buy one yet. Of course, whenever I've had a scroll I've never needed it....

Dol returns to the fresco of coins and begins tapping on the wall attempting to determine if there is empty space behind it. He will also feel around for hidden buttons among the coins.

I always feel items like that should go to frontliners first. I'd suggest Loth.

Web is a great control spell, but if you want to be a blaster, that's fine as well.

The Grab monster ability doesn't normally work against a creature who is larger than the creature. That doesn't mean that the creature can break free of the grapple, but it might mean that the crab is not able to confirm the grapple (and thus not inflict more constrict damage).

Seems like a good idea, though it will likely just mean the crab moves his attacks to a smaller opponent.

Regardless, I will heal her. I am a little slow to post as I am currently on vacation.

Dol looks into the room and peers at the carvings, then moves inside to take a closer look at the pool (but not too close).

"Perhaps, Tarphrex. Though, it would have to be a very small dragon, and one that didn't care if its treasures got ruined by water."

I've heard three options:

1. Take Lyrie back to town, come back once we are healed up on Strength
2. Take Lyrie aboveground and continue exploring
3. Just continue exploring

My vote is for #2.

I don't think we should leave Orik to care for Lyrie by himself, yet this castle needs to be cleared as well. I am torn.

Dol looks back, having missed the struggle between Lyrie and Orik in his worry over his teammates.

Leaving the empty crypt, he rushes back and tries to speak soothingly to Lyrie.

"What is it, Lyrie? What caused this reaction? Was it the shadows? The undead are gone now. There is nothing to fear."

Funny that you should mention the glaring S. I think it would be glaring even without the tag there.

Dol looks with concern at Zenaida, but feels helpless at the moment. "Perhaps if you lighten your load a bit? I can carry your pack, or even the armor, if need be.

You could wear my breastplate for now, if that would be better."

Dol looks about the room as well. "I doubt there will be anything left in these sarcophagi, but we should take a look." He starts to move toward one, but his face scrunches up. "Odd. The symmetry of the room is all off. That alcove in the center of the wall should have another sarcophagus. Razvik, maybe your eyes might pick out something hidden there?"

Dol begins moving from sarcohagus to sarcophagus, taking 10 to search each one. Perception T10 = 13

I want this thing dead. It is doubtful we'll run into more shadows and I have plenty of healing capacity for the time being. Hopefully that takes it out.

Dol considers the strange cat and looks more closely at Lyrie. "This whole time, I thought it was the other woman who was charming people, but she was a cleric. Charm isn't typical of clerics and unlikely from a Lamashtan."

He tries to keep his voice steady, but begins to grow wary. "Lyrie. Does Malfeshnekor speak to you through your cat?"

Dol peers at Orik after his response, wondering exactly how long Orik has known the woman. Shrugging, he turns his attention to Lyrie, just in time for Zenaida to begin making introductions.

"Yes, hello, Lyrie. I am Dol Stormmaul. We are friends of Orik here. He seemed quite worried about you, so I am glad to see that you seem well.

Is there something you are looking for down here, or something that you need? Perhaps we can discuss it back in town. I'll buy you a round at the Rusty Dragon."

Dol watches the cat and Kyrie, furling his brow as he tries to consider what may have happened. He still overhears Tarphrex though and agrees. "Yes, looking for traps is always wise. You should look for magical traps as well, if that is within your ability."

He continues examining Kyrie as he talks to Orik. "Orik, has she always had a cat?"

"There was a nasty looking trap on a pressure plate just beyond the door there, but Loth disarmed it."

He looks down at Loth. "Maybe you should make sure it hasn't been reset before we proceed?"

He peers down the hallway, attempting to listen for remote sounds. "To that end, we haven't seen much of this level. It is good news that no enemies filtered into the rest of the structure. Perhaps that means we have already cleared it out. I wonder what became of Orik, though."

Moving closer to the hallway, he calls out. "Orik? Are you down here? We're coming back to help you with your search!"

He sighs, tracing one of the vines. "I suppose it will start flaking off as soon as we get into the first battle. Maybe we can find a way to strengthen the bond at some point."

Picking up his pack and new hammer, Dol cinches the straps on his breastplate, then offers to help Zenaida don her own armor. "Well, we may as well track down the rest of the team. Thistletop isn't getting any less goblin infested as we sit around here."
