Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

i have been waiting, I see no option to mark it myself?

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

While I do love roll20 doing a "live" game would be extremely difficult with my schedule. Standard pbp works best for me as well.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

"I have no wizardly magic that could take out so many, forget doing it quietly. I do have the silence spell and I can summon a mist to hide us?"

The priest is not sure either option will help, and potentially either could draw attention to them faster.....

is the trap door right in their midst or is there a chance to sneak by?

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

The priest quickly thinks through the spells he has prepared to cast for the day, trying to balance the value of using them against the need to conserve them for the really big challenges.

"I can make us truly silent for a time, but it would render everything else around us silent as well......" Not sure if bringing silence to the chaos would hide them or reveal them faster, Deylar holds back as the stryx creeps forward to investigate.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

The priest says a quick prayer over the goblins. It was a necessary thing for the greater mission, and certainly if tables had been turned their enemy would have done the same or worse, but he prays for their spirits to wing swiftly to pharasma's acre anyway.

"Best keep moving. Lots of ground to cover and we cannot afford so many distractions.". Once the potentially valuable dresses are stowed away Deylar casts a guidance spell just to feel the touch of Nethys before continuing on with the others.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

The priest looks around the room, focusing his glowing eyed gaze on the females for several seconds. "How interesting.....that dress there is actually enchanted with protection magics. I guess being stabbed on your wedding day is a real concern for goblin women?"[b]

[b]"I am afraid you are right, Aviz, though I am loathe to do it I have no way of restraining them well enough. Maybe we could find rope or something.......but we are wasting time, we have to keep going to take advantage of our ruse in the first place."

unless we can figure out a way to lock them up, we know what we have to do.........

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar comes around the corner, ready to call on arcane energies to contribute to the battle, but the battle is over before he even gets the chance.

"Afraid not, I do not have that gift prepared today. I was expecting more combat than diplomacy." He looks at the pathetic groveling of the goblins.

"Now what? We can't risk them sounding an alarm....."

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

yikes, I go out to shovel snow and this place EXPLODES!!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar peers around the corner. His mind is filled with ideas for the many enchantments that could get the group past this room undetected, but all are either outside his experience or not within his normal repertoire. He shakes his head to Aviz. "No way I can see to block that exit. I too would rather offer them a choice, but is it worth the risk to the entire mission? I don't see any other way......."

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

"I can create a mist that would hide our presence, but the appearance of a strange mist would alert them just as much I think." The priest pauses for a moment to think until shaking his head. "Might not have a choice, Im afraid. We can try to sneak past but should be prepared if.... when they see us."

DM, am I able to figure out what that wand from a few posts up does? Invisibility would be nice.......

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar puts out a hand to stop the group from progressing. Taking a brief moment to bow his head and mutter a prayer, the priest gives Aviz a blessing to help him sneak past the distracted females. After the stryx takes a few steps Deylar reaches out and performs the same blessing on Rova, then on himself.

Continuing their stealthy movements, the group moves along the corridor to get deeper into the fortress complex.

Cast Guidance on each right before moving along....assuming its possible to cast without the sound attracting attention (which seems to be the case based on the description).

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Sounds like a hearty 'good riddance' is in order..........welcome back from the edge, sir, we missed you!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Ugh, its like Shelden Cooper says: 'b1tch3s be crazy."

Im we're still going, Im ready and willing.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Hoping it isn't, but it has been a while .....

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar gives a grim smile at the stryx's humor considering how tough that goblin was. If they are all that much worse than a normal goblin we are going to be in trouble.

The tiefling takes up position behind the warriors as they begin to move forward into the fort.

wants I should make a check to see what that wand is?

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

A happy happy and a merry merry to all!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Cr@p, really thought I posted yesterday.......sorry folks! And don't forget to add the MASSIVE damage the blast rune did :)

As his companions engage the strange goblin, the two priorities on Deylar's mind are ending the battle without attracting the attention of others and conserving resources for the long crawl through the fort. Taking a few steps back to make sure the others have room to fight the beast Deylar points a finger and utters a string of arcane words. With a high pitched whistling sound a beam of black energy streaks toward the goblin and strikes it unerringly in the chest.

when in doubt, Magic Missile!: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 yup, that's what I rolled yesterday.

Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 not even a surprise round before he's taking actions? boo....... :)

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Taking the bull by the horns....or better said, taking the mutant goblin by the third arm.....

Taking another quick moment to survey the hallway again, Deylar directs Rova and Aviz into two hiding spots that are out of sight from the goblin's direction but are mere steps away from the spot he will trap. Goal is to conceal both of them within a 5' step of the rune's square, ideally they could be between the goblin and escape back into the complex?

Once everything is ready, the tiefling drops to one knee and begins tracing his finger along the bare stone. His finger crackles with a blue spark as it moves but leaves no visible marks on the floor. Satisfied that the work is complete the priest grabs a nearby stone as he stands up. He takes a few steps back from the rune before looking to both his companions to check if they are ready.

Deylar smiles as he takes the stone and knocks on the wall in an irregular, obviously not natural pattern.

Standard Action: Set a Blast Rune, 1d6+2 electricity damage. DC26 Perception check to notice.
Move Action: Back up 15' down the hallway
Free Action?: Knock a pattern he MUST COME INVESTIGATE!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Quickly scoping out the right spot, Deylar lays out his plan to Rova and Aviz.

"You two hide in the shadows on opposite sides of the hallway at this corner. I will lay a magical trap on the floor, then get his attention. When he comes this way to investigate, he gets blasted by the trap. It probably will not be strong enough to take him down, so when he's distracted you two take him down."

@GM - based on the goblin's position and how loud we have been so far, how much is Deylar going to have to do to get its attention and have it move this way? would a "PSSST!" be enough or is it going to have to see someone to chase?

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

With Rova at the top as well, Deylar steps back toward the entrance to put some space between them and the strange goblin.

"think we can draw him toward us a bit? I can leave him a bit of a surprise if he gets too close then we can jump him, hopefully quietly enough to not attract any more attention .... Any better ideas?"

maybe make a noise he has to come check out, and I can use domain power to place a blast rune for him to get zapped? @Duboris: is the tunnel smooth or are there nooks and crannies where two big melee types could conceal themselves? I'd be looking for a decent choke point where 3-arms would almost have to step on the rune that also has a place to hide two ambushers......

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

And I for one am glad to have you back at the perfect time .... Deylar almost had to get his hands dirty!!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

"So much for it not being guarded. That thing does not look like it'll go down easily......."

Deylar makes sure Aviz notices the freakish goblin. "Want to try and sneak up on him? Or lure him this way??"

why have a got the feeling he's got a few more HP than the average goblin??

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Im amused!

Deylar watches Aviz goes to work on the boards, and as the Strix begins his decent the tielfing casts a minor cantrip to feel the comforting touch of Nethys. He is quite glad he did as he is lifted up into the air for the short flight to the entrance. He does his best to get over the indignity of being carried like a sack of potatoes once his feet are firmly back on the ground but the smell hits him hard, which surprises him more than anything else considering some of the things he's seen over the years. He does his best to use some minor magics to make the stench less distracting.

Another cantrip connects the group for easier and somewhat stealthy communication, then Deylar peers into the darkness as they prepare to move into the tunnels.

Cast prestidigitation while still on the ground. Use it to create a floral scent right under his nose. Cast message so everyone can whisper with a DC25 Perception check to be overheard. Ready as I'll ever be........

le bump

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

The tiefing smiles as the warrior launches into the air. "Never doubted you for a second."

Confidence aside, Deylar has a look of worry on his face as he watches the strix go to work, his mind running through options for supporting his companion at this distance if any trouble comes up.

aw....he cares....;P

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar's gaze slowly moves up the climb until it finally rests on the pipe. He slowly shakes his head. "That is the type of climb I was afraid of...."

He looks to Aviz. "Does it look like theres a place to land and work on those boards? Or are you going to have to remove them while hovering?"

The tiefling turns back to the cliff face. "And are you still sure you can get me up there?"

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

As they break camp and prepare to head for the fort, Deylar pulls a small shiny pearl from his pouch, holding it in his hand and focusing with eyes closed. After a few moments the pearl flashes briefly. With a nod of his head the tiefling returns it to his pouch before hitting the trail to get into position.

use the Pearl of Power to recall Bless....better now than worry about getting it later!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

WHEN WE LAST LEFT OUR HEROES.......

we had just rested and woke up ready to take on the fort, that is until a huge bug came along to suck down our resources. Plan is for the group except Saru to take the 1hr 15min walk/fly to move into position behind the fort near the secret batcave entrance the hobgoblin told us about.

Around midday Saru will deceive his way in the front, setting fire to the one tower as a distraction to the goblins (also using a firework to ensure that we know he was successful).

Once the guards are running toward the burning tower we sneak in during the commotion and start making our way through the fort looking for 3 things:

1- their now-smart leader
2- his as of yet unknown female that seems to be the source of his new smarts
3- missing guild member, we are assuming he was captured and brought here (or at least that he's here)

And of course trying to regroup without accidentally killing a disguised Saru.

.......I miss anything, boss?

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

how far away is the fort and how long will it take for us to get into position? Since the little blighters are nocturnal we probably want to do this as close to midday as possible?

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Yup, and Delay isn't going to cure the damage already done....Ive got a Lesser Restoration scroll also.....

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar inspects Aviz's wounds then begins rummaging through his pack.

"I prepared my spells based on battle, so I cannot remove the taint. I can hold off its affects for a few hours however. Can you tolerate it a little while longer? I am thinking we wait until our raid begins then use this so you are at our best for the assault instead of the approach."

He pulls out a tightly rolled piece of parchment and points with it for emphasis.

Heal check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 anything to be done outside magical healing?

He's got a scroll of Delay Poison, but thatll only suppress the affect for 3 hrs.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

nuts you're right. Argh

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

^that MH1 attack can have another +2 from the Divine Vessel ability....

So far the group seems to be doing well, so instead of casting again Deylar calls on his heritage and lets loose a bolt of heavenly fire at the centipede.

Ranged Touch Attack, PBS, Bless, DV: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 29
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

So much for the fortress being the primary threat.....

Deylar takes a few steps forward and begins casting, asking for Nethys to bless their combat. As the energy settles around him he uses his gifts to warp it again to provide his allies with even more arcane power to battle the creature.

Move Action: 30' move, repositioned counter on map (thanks for the heads up, I didn't realize we could do that)
Standard Action: Cast Bless on party, +1 morale bonus on attacks
Swift Action: Divine Vessel power, add another +2 unnamed bonus to next attack roll/skill check/ability check before the end of your next turn.

OK, it wasn't THAT big since theres no change to BAB or saves.....but the profile is all done and ready to go (what my boss doesn't know cant hurt me). A far as spells:

Big level for Deylar, BIG level......3rd level spells baby! probably wont get it finished til later tonight.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

As Aviz rises into the air to check on the noise, Deylar stops cleaning up from the morning meal and peers out into the forest in the direction it came from. He casts a detection spell more out of habit than expecting it to help, then starts moving away from the remnants of the fire looking for cover.

Cast detect magic
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 to try and notice whats out there
once he figures out what direction the noise came from he'll move ~20ft to the right hoping to not be directly in its path when it charges the campsite. If theres a boulder or tree or something he'll definitely use it for cover from the direction of the sound.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

"Lets just hope that does not happen at the wrong time. My spells and his blades will not know the difference either."

He uses the back of his hand to wipe broth from his chin. "How will we know its you if we bump into you in the tunnels beneath the fort?"

And yes, I did look....

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Deylar finishes his morning preparations with the smell of stew causing his stomach to rumble. With a final prayer to The Eye he walks over to his companions just in time to see Rova slurping down his serving. The tiefling allows himself a small grin. When in Ostenso....

He takes his own small bowl and mimic's Rova's performance as best he can, although the slight priest's gulps are truly no match for the halforc's gusto.

"A fine meal, a good omen for our endeavors today!" He gives a quick glance around camp. "Looks like no troubles during the night? At least, Im hoping that's Saru we're breaking our fast with?"

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Gee, that's not ominous at all....

Deylar volunteers for first watch, knowing that he needs his rest in order to prepare spells for tomorrow's infiltration. His watch passes quickly as various scenarios play out in his head, the noises in the distance punctuating how vulnerable they are, how much more vulnerable they are even from the moment they left the airship.

So far guild life was not at all what he expected.

Its too late to go back to town, but any chance that there are 2hrs of daylight left to scribe a scroll? Ive got Resist Energy memorized and not yet cast, would love to put it on a scroll if time allows.....

Regardless, after resting I will use Domain Mastery to make Destruction domain/Catastrophe subdomain my secondary. New spells prepared for the assault morning:

0-level (DC15): Detect Magic, Guidance, Resistance, Stabilize
1-level (DC16): Bless, Bless, Obscuring Mist, Moment of Greatness, Stone Shield, True Strike(dom)

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Cue up the 80's movie "getting stuff ready" montage!!

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Sounds right to me. Hopefully the disguised saru can get down to the "women's room" to meet up with us without too much difficulty ....

Love the firework idea, seems perfect for the situation.

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

For a moment Deylar envisions the song Jahl'ra would write about them.

"And they were never heard from again....."

"Rova, he also said in the morning. Saru, how much time do you need to prepare for the destruction of the tower? And what IS your plan for communicating with us to coordinate?"

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

Ah, there he is.

Deylar silently chastises himself for needing a lesson on goblin behavior from such an unlikely source. Of course the little blighters were more active at night, morning was clearly a better choice. He almost let his desire to prove himself lead down a very foolish path indeed.

The tiefling considers everything they've heard up to this point and keeps coming to the same conclusion. "Not quite sure how we'll communicate if we split up like that, but a distraction at the tower and entry through the sewers sounds right."

He pauses a moment, thinking before speaking again. "You said Metal Teeth wouldn't leave bodies, right Barthol? Meaning another patrol will be coming this way soon enough. Do we make ourselves scarce so we are not discovered, or do we wait for the goblins to return here and try to ambush them?"

Deylar looks back at Rova. "You wouldn't mind bashing a few more goblins, would you?"

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

The tiefling looks over at Rova with an undisguised look of surprise on his face. A whole sentence without the word KILL or DESTROY or FIGHT in it? We are all growing, aren't we?

"Sounds so easy when you say it like that. The gifts of Nethys can allow us to communicate almost silently once we're inside but the distance from the sewer to the entrance sounds too great for such minor magics: coordinating the distraction and sneaking will be a challenge. Then meeting back up with you, Saru, if we go in separately."

Deylar closes his eyes for a moment. "I wish we could rest and recover my spells but I am getting the feeling that waiting until morning may be too long. If our painted goblin friend makes it back to warn the fort they will be on alert. Although not for long if Barthol is correct. Do we think we can be in position by nightfall? Most of us can see in the dark, as well as goblins can, anyway, and having some of them asleep or drunk can certainly help us move around undetected."

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

y changes are in the profile also - added abilities, reduced channel to 1d6, swapped out sling for throwing daggers. Pretty minor all in all.....

Tiefling Cleric of Nethys (Ecclesitheurge) 5 / Empyreal Sorcerer 1

That said, Deylarr, once again the decision is yours. You need to make it prior to pursuing anything beyond this point though. With all the sudden changes in party members, guys, All of you are more than welcome to rework anything you might think needs it.

So if the offer is still open......Id love to go anti-munchkin and go from a vanilla cleric to a Ecclesitheurge archetype.

Ive always planned his style/appearance/gear to look like a mage so the proficiencies don't bother me, and while I love the domain powers I picked the spell lists STINK. The added spell versatility fits well with the concept and the only real loss is the 1d6 to channeling which Heavenly Fire should make up for......

And unless we rest before the raid (which Id recommend, BTW) theres almost no impact until we rest next!
