All right, I've had to come to a decision. I just don't have the time for PBP anymore with the daughter and my work schedule. I am withdrawing from all my games. I thank you greatly for the good times, and sincerely apologize for any amount of your time that I've wasted these last months. There are a few memories from this game I'll always cherish, such as when I (as Kala) rushed in and saved Zoli from the ghouls.

You guys are awesome and I wish I could give you the attention you deserve. Have a great time and great games.

"There is no quarter for unrepentant evil." Destrina says, involuntarily glancing at Morythine before averting her eyes, not yet sure of his demeanor. "In any case, whether the curse is broken or not, we must quit this place at least long enough to rest. We are at the end of our strength."

Destrina steps back into the fight and swings her massive hammer at the Eugeni with a cleaver/razor in its hand. He nearly dodges the blow, but hat-wearing Eugeni's grip on him prevents it, and the hammer hits the Skinsaw Man with a sickening crack.

Destrina steps away from the skinsaw man for a moment, holds her hammer up with one hand while drawing Ragathiel's symbol in the air with her other hand and reciting a prayer. "General of Vengeance, bless this hammer to crush those who work evil. Bless it that I may bring vengeance for those they have killed. Bless it that your will may be done." A flash of white light accompanies the end of the prayer and afterward the hammer glows faintly.

The paladin turns her attention to the cleaver wielding Eugeni doppelganger, and says, "Feel the wrath of vengeance, of my god, Ragathiel, beast."

Move: 5 ft step, Standard: Cast Bless Weapon on my hammer, Swift: Smite the Skinsaw Man

Destrina finishes the work Zoli started, driving the undead horror back down the slope with an upward arcing strike. After the creatures body lands, the paladin says, "Well done. That went far better than the last one." She continues to peer down below, asking Ragathiel for the sight to find evil.

Standard: Kill the ghast. After combat I will cast detect evil, and scan the area for signs of more evil.

Those were some fort saves. 20, 20, 19.

Destrina slams her hammer into the next ghast, hitting it solidly, but failing to kill it. "Just hold this position, we have the advantage," she says.

"Hold strong." Destrina says as she readies her hammer for another assault of the undead. The paladin looks grim as she waits for the ghouls, she knows the group is nearly out of resources.

"I will carry the blade. It would be folly not to," Destrina says, having seen adamantine weapons used in her time in Mendev. She draws the blade and rakes it across the wall, leaving a deep score behind on the rough surface. "Excellent," she murmurs, resheathing the blade and attaching the scabbard to her belt. She follows Zoli, staying well back as the halfling scouts forward.

With a shout of pain at the bite, Destrina shakes the ghoul from her arm, then spins, lashing out with the oversized hammer. The silvered head catches the ghoul in the armpit driving it into the wall and shattering its torso. It slumps to the floor, dead once more.

She turns to the group and says, "Anyone notice more of them?"

Destrina continues to rampage through the ghouls, her hammer slamming the next into the cavern wall, separating the upper half of it's body from the lower in a grisly snapping of bones. She steps forward once more, unwilling to give the ghouls even an inch of ground.

After laying a hand on herself momentarily, Destrina steps forward into the breach. She raises the hammer over her head, shouting "The Divine Vengeance of Ragathiel take you!" She brings the hammer down on the first ghoul in line, crushing it to the ground and nearly ripping its rotting body in half.

Destrina smashes the ghoul in front of her with the large silver hammer, tearing chunks of rotting flesh and bone from the thing in a long runnel across its chest. She desperately wants to turn and face the bat-ghoul and protect her allies, but until Darius can turn these ghouls to ash, she is forced to defend this flank.

I don't know if you want me to use my standard to move Darius back, or if I can attack. I'll throw in an attack roll just in case.

"There's a bat-like creature hanging from the ceiling there," Destrina says, pointing at it with the head of her hammer. She calls upon Ragathiel to determine whether the beast is evil, and then smites it if it is. Finally, Destrina's hair turns white, her skin turns pale, and her bulk increases, she grows half a foot, and her facial features are subtly different than before.

Standard: Alter Self (Racial) Move: Detect Evil, targeted (Class) Swift: Smite Evil

"A horrible vision to be sure." Destrina says, retrieving a cloth to dab away some of the blood on the aasimar's fur. "Perhaps it is a true vision in some sense. It could be that Aldern or another of these Foxgloves lies waiting below. Steel yourselves for battle, perhaps we may end this cursed place yet." After giving her companions a moment to ready themselves, Destrina leads the way down the stairs, her halo illuminating the path down.

Switching back and forth from days to nights every few days (more than normal) is killing me (figuratively). Coworker has cancer and is out for 3 months (minimum), the rest of us have to cover his shifts.

On another note: I think we need to do something with that revenant, like maybe try talking. I'm rather wary however. Normally I'd think that they wouldn't put something in that could easily TPK us, but Malfeshnekor taught me that's wrong.

"I saw... visions, of the man in those windows. He willingly turned himself into the undead, but was stopped before he fully completed the ritual." Destrina says, shaking her head to clear off the last of the wooziness. "We need to destroy this place, and whatever is haunting it."

Destrina walks over to the bookshelf and begins scanning the titles of the sodden books, trying to decide on one to read.

Destrina draws her hammer and repeatedly brings it down on the mass of rats, trying to smash as many as she can. "Die, blighted vermin!" she shouts.

Destrina positions herself adjacent to her cousin stowing her hammer, then retrieving one of his alchemist fire flasks. "I'm ready if your first blast isn't enough Darius," she says, and readies herself to throw the flask.

My actions take two rounds. On the third round, I ready to throw the flask if Darius' burning hands doesn't take the rats out.

Destrina approaches the cracks in the wall, trying to see how deep they go into the earth.

Destrina activates her halo of light as she descends the stairs, leading the group onward. "Merde! I mislike this place." she says.

Ok, leaving for the airport (to go to PAX East in Boston) in ~4 hours (I should be asleep), I'll get in posts tomorrow, then no posts till Monday/Tuesday.

At Eugeni's reaction, Destrina drops her hammer, draws her sword and tries to cut the scarf to ribbons.

Bastard Sword Attack (no Power Attack): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Bastard Sword Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Destrina gingerly moves the curtains aside with her hammer staying as far away from them as she can.

It takes Destrina a moment to catch wind of what's going on in the confusion (as that is truly not what she's best at), but she reacts quickly once she's sorted it out. Seeing her chance once Eugeni has a hold on the halfling girl, Destrina wrests the wooden sliver from Zoli's hands. "Calm down girl!" the paladin says, once she has the splinter in hand. "It's just the foul magic of this place playing tricks on your mind!"

Disarm: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 4 = 20 - The -4 is for disarming barehanded

Even grappled she still has the use of one arm, so it would be no problem for her to grab an adjacent unattended object. Also, the dice seem to refuse to let Zoli die.

The paladin searches the room, paying particular attention to the fireplace, before waving the group over to the next set of doors and having Zoli inspect, and perhaps unlock, them.

Perception: 20 - 1 = 19

Touch attacks to wand me, woohoo!

Destrina gingerly steps into the hallway, scanning it for evil.

Destrina is unaware of any healing wand. It hasn't been used since she came aboard.

"Everyone okay?" she asks, feeling a strangely relieved that she isn't the only one that has succumbed to whatever foul magic pervades this place, while simultaneously afraid for her companions' safety. Whatever was caused the haunting in the place would be on the receiving end of Ragathiel's Vengeance.

"Eugeni, Zoli, come back in. I have the rope steady," Destrina calls to her companions outside.

Destrina unhitches her rope from her backpack and hurls one end out the window, taking a step toward it as she throws. "Grab the rope!" she yells.

Move: Retrieve An Item Standard: Toss the rope through the window, holding on to one end.

Destrina searches the room for any clues about the murder of the revenant in the room across the hall, but fails to find anything.

"I can't make out anything related to that woman in here," she says.

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Just want to point out that I have -1 perception, not sure where you're getting the +7 from

"Hold friends, stay your weapons. That is a revenant, and she is rendered helpless by her reflection, unless we destroy the mirror or attack her. As far as I know, the only way to slay her is to kill the person that murdered her." Destrina explains. "We may be able to search this room, find out who murdered her, and bring vengeance to that person, destroying both evils. We must be cautious, however, revenants are very powerful foes, resistant to magic, cold, and all weapons but blades."

I traded it for the light halo thingie.

"This is truly a house of horrors." Destrina says. "Let's see what made that scream." The paladin leads the group toward the last door on the right, allowing Zoli to inspect the door before opening it.

Place me firmly in the destroy without looking camp.

"It... took control of me, or at least something did, just after I searched it for evil. It is worse than the rest of the place. More pronounced evil. I would caution that we destroy it, if possible." Destrina says, pointedly ignoring Morythine.

Destrina raises the hammer once more, then just as she's about to swing it down again, she drops it, her will overcoming the magic that took over her mind. The paladin drops to her knees, head in her hands. Tears form in the corners of her eyes. She spends a long while in this position (30 seconds or so), after which she slowly raises her head. "Apologies, madamoiselle Zoli. I am afraid my mind was weak and taken by the darkness that infests this place. I shall seek atonement when we return, or if you should so choose I can leave this place now and do so."

If requested, Destrina will heal Zoli, but will wait until given permission to touch her.

Well shit, at least I can't smite.

Destrina's face suddenly goes slack, with a confused look that contorts into rage. She hefts her huge hammer above her head, seeming to struggle against swinging it, but finally the rage wins over, and she brings it crashing down on the unaware Zoli.

Why dice, I haven't rolled a hit in a week, why now. Also you're flat footed to this attack, so no parry.

Destrina scans the painting for signs of more evil than the rest of the place bears. Otherwise, she remains just behind Zoli, weapon in hand.

Destrina, rather belatedly, lays a hand on herself to heal her wounds as Zoli expounds upon necromantic magic whatsits and doodads. "Sounds like these Foxgloves are mixed up in things beyond their ken. If any yet persist, I'm going to have a very long talk with them." the paladin growls. She stays just behind the halfling girl, unwilling to let anything like what happened in the farmhouse earlier occur again.

All right Brimley. Hit me with the bones.

"This whole place has something wrong with it." Destrina says, not realizing that Zoli is speaking to Eugeni. The paladin scans this room for evil as well, perhaps a particular source of it can be found within.

So I took 8 damage earlier, and healed 4 of it with LoH correct? That'd put me at 44/49

Destrina suddenly realizes that Zoli and Eugeni are moving up the steps, having been distracted by the evil that emanates from this place. She grins sheepishly and follows them up the stairs, though, unlike her allies, not particularly quietly.

"This entire... place, the walls, the floor, almost the very air. It is all evil. This must be the source of whatever malaise has afflicted Sandpoint and its people." Destrina says, a look of dissatisfaction on her face. She turns to her companions and in a very serious tone says, "Be on your guard."

Destrina loosens her sword in its scabbard, still holding the oversized silver hammer in her other hand. She then checks her warhammer, shield and dagger for readiness before moving to the door past the manticore in the southeast corner of the room. "Are you ready?" she says, one hand on the latch, ready to open it and move through.

Destrina quickly scans the stuffed thing again, searching for any evil. "Ragathiel, I need your strength," she thinks.

Detect evil on the thing.

"Burn? The General of Vengeance's burning wings enfold and shield me! It is you who shall burn with holy light!" Destrina shouts. The paladin then reaches out and channels holy energy through her hand into the stuffed manticore.

I don't know if I can use greater mercy on this or not. It's only for healing, and I don't know if this is technically damage or healing. The target definitely doesn't need my mercy however, so I'll roll the die separately and let you decide.
