This looks like a lost cause to me. Oh well, if the rest of you continue then enjoy the game.

The fey's healing ability demonstrated the futility of more bolts so Delweir dropped his weapon and let it hang from its sling. Squinting his eyes tightly, he makes rapid gestures with his fingers as he speaks in an unrecognizable language for a few seconds before suddenly stopping. Then he throws his arm at the mephit and a glob of liquid hurls forth at it.

The creature's appearance momentarily surprises Delweir. For a moment, he considers dropping his crossbow to free his hands for spellcasting. But he levels it at the blue menace and fires it first rather than waste the bolt.

After Vesna makes her way along the bridge, Delweir asks the others "What can we do if it collapses under her?"

Delweir will offer to buy the crossbow and bolts before they are sold to the shopkeeper.

Well it seems decided, then.

"Yes, whatever we can do" Delweir adds.

Delweir silently takes in the conversation and wonders what these folk did on behalf of this Taldan woman. Since he sees no alternative means of gaining traveling companions, he decides to accompany them on their mission against the mephit and her bandit minion. In truth, he is excited at the prospect of seeing being from another plane.

"Yes, I realize that my journey is far from complete. In fact, I was hoping to find traveling companions for the rest of the way to Irissen."

To Kharia he replies "Hmm, I never stopped to consider that."

A sheepish smile crosses Delweir's face before he responds. "My journey is toward Irissen, as implausible as that sounds. The caravan that I traveled with turned west yesterday and this is the nearest settlement that I could find. The crew of the caravan thought that I was joking about going to Irrisen. All the way up until yesterday no one believed me when I told them where I was headed."

"Of course, I did not know until recently that the weather had turned...unnatural for this time of year. This does complicate things."

"Are you natives of Heldren?"

Nonplussed Delweir responds "I meant, do you have room at this table? The inn seems quite crowded tonight and this looks like the only available chair."

Just as the patron's speech ends, a tall man in a winter cloak enters. His appearance is overshadowed by the townsman's exhortation and few take any notice of him. He takes this opportunity to search for the hearth in order to warm himself after coming in from the unnatural cold. On his way, he stops at the bar and orders a strong drink to fortify himself for that time that it takes for the fire to fight off his chill.

Seeing a shortage of available chairs, he approaches your table and says "Well met, all. Do you have room for a weary traveler?" Check the box for 'introductory cliche'.

This should be interesting. I intentionally did not read any of the gameplay thread or the profiles for any of the characters. I want to be surprised so that Delweir's reactions will be more authentic and less metagame-based.

Delweir wants to witness Baba Yaga come to replace one of her daughters on the throne of Irissen because she is a legendary plane-traveling being or immense power. He, somewhat without foundation, that just seeing her appear will inspire him with some knowledge of planar travel and the mechanics underlying the planes themselves.

He might come to Heldren for supplies like spell-components. Or perhaps he became separated from the group he was traveling with when the were attacked or became lost. He probably has no more than a rough idea of the geography of this area. It is likely that he is under the impression that Heldren is a sort of way-station for people journeying to Irissen.

If these ideas are not helpful, I will come up with something else.

Male Human Magic-user 1 (Infernal Binder) | HP 8 | AC 12 FF 10 T 12 | Saves +1/+2/+2 | init +5 | Percep +0

Hello, everyone. I am one of the new recruits for the game. Hopefully, this will be fun for all of us.

Here is Delweir again. The sting of his initial rejection has faded and he is ready to find a Reign of Winter game again.

I am afraid that I forgot about the PFS credit that was mentioned in the initial post. Is a PFS character required for this game? If so, I will submit another character.

Thanks

This character has had zero luck in getting picked for this campaign. Why not see if my luck holds true?

Have fun storming Irrisen, everyone!

I would like to throw my hat into the ring with Delweir, human Infernal Binder. His stat block needs a bit of work but is nearly complete. I put his completed background there.

1. What the heck is your character doing here?
Delweir is consumed with the idea of witnessing Baba Yaga's appearance in Irrisen and has traveled north in order to make effect his dream. He has stopped in Heldren to buy winter gear suitable for the trek into Irrisen.

2. Profession or how does your character make a living?
Delweir has been traveling with a caravan and making himself useful by casting spells to make the journey easier when possible. He has made use of the spell Grease to lubricate wheels and used Infernal Healing to remedy minor injuries to fellow travelers.

3. Describe your physical appearance (you may include link to internet image that best represents your character, if you'd like).
Delweir is a tall thin man in his early thirties with a pointed goatee who often stares, wide-eyed in a discomfiting manner. He wears a heavy blue greatcoat to ward off the cold. Under the coat, his clothing is well-tailored but worn from travel. He looks a bit like this.

4. Why help out when the winter comes? Why not leave and flee? Why get involved?
Flee? Are you mad? If the snows of winter are arriving now it must mean that Baba Yaga has come to Golarion! A legendary being who comes only once in a century is not to be missed. Even if I only see her from a distance that will be worth more than a lifetime of study at the feet of some cloistered professor at the Egorian Academy. Only a fool or a coward would flee the chance of a lifetime.

Just a note: my area is predicted to get inundated with ice and snows starting tomorrow. There is a chance that my power will get knocked out for a few days. So if I am chosen and don't respond right away that will be why. Ironic, isn't it?

I am going to bow out.

Good gaming, everyone.

I finally found someone who I think looks like Delweir.

David Tennant

I always wanted to try this AP. Delweir is an infernal binder who is obsessed with witnessing Baba Yaga's appearance in Golarion despite the danger that she and the witches of Irissen present.

Most of his crunch is done; I only have to pick another trait and make a few tweaks.

Here is a character that I made for RoW. He is obsessed with reaching Irrisen in time to see the appearance of Baba Yaga. This is primarily because he believes that there he will somehow learn something of magical value by witnessing the appearance of a legendary being. But nearly as important is the fact that he simply wants to lay eyes on the great witch-queen. Delweir will rationalize this is any number of ways.

I will look for a picture of an actor who represents him well.

I would like to present Delweir, an Infernal Binder wizard from Taldor. Most of his crunch is done already; his familiar and a few other things are the only missing details.

I am going to withdraw. Good gaming, everyone.

The cold is bearable, but only just Delweir thought to himself as he entered the doorway of the Stout. The narrow confines of the tavern and the rough garb its patrons stirred thoughts of Egoran, with its neat and spacious salons along the cobblestone streets. For a moment the young man stood just inside the doorway and shook frost off of his outer coat. Then he scanned the room for an empty seat.Once he located a vacant chair, Delweir wound his way past the patrons at the bar and sat down. Hopefully, this is the kind of place that has waitresses. If I have to approach the bar for food or drink I will certainly lose my seat.

Delweir would be a utility character who contributes to combat via summoned creatures, battlefield control spells and some buffs to the front-line types.

His immediate goal is to witness the replacement of a witch-queen by Baba Yaga herself. He realizes that the chance of actually seeing this take place is slim but he will risk it nonetheless. After all, what is to be gained by sitting in an isolated chamber reading dusty tomes written by authors who may well never have actually experienced anything that they claim to have done. Delweir would rather experience events and learn from them.

Ultimately, Delweir wants to see the far reaches of this world and others as well.

It is evening in Heldren. There is a chill in the air as you make your way toward The Silver Stoat, Heldren's only tavern. Whether you've lived in Heldren your entire life or are newly arrived, you know that this is a fixture of village life and that the tavern fills with patrons as they gather to share gossip, hear news and reward themselves with a mug of Three Devil Ale for their hard day's work. As you cross the threshold, you are greeted by a crackling fire, the smell of delicious steaks, and the sounds of hearty conversation.

1. The adventure starts in the village of Heldren, a small village in Taldor just north of the Border Wood near Qadira. All characters should be residents of Heldren. Were you born there? Are you newly arrived?
2. If you're playing as a common race, how do you view other, rarer races? If you're playing as an uncommon race, how did you come to live among the common?
3. What will your character contribute to the party in and out of battle?
4. What goals/aspirations does your character have? These don't always need to be lofty or noble.

I can post at least once per weekday, often more than that. Currently I am in four PbP games, one moves very slowly, one moves very quickly and the other two are average.

Here is a wizard (infernal binder) who traveled to Irresen in order to witness Baba Yaga's appearance and the replacement of the queen. I will get to the questions at a later time.

I am going to have to withdraw from the game also. It was fun, but I start a new job on Monday and will not be at a computer all day anymore. As a result I am going to scale back my involvement in most of my pbps. I don't want to hold up the game for a day or two while you wait for me to post.
