As for size, this thread gives some good clues and comparisons.

Thanks for the help - very much appreciated

Hi all, I'm trying to get a feel for the Isle of Kortos to help set the scene for the players.

Is there something in the real world I can relate to it in terms of climate, terrain etc ?

Thats what I expected but thanks for the response.

Hi folks - are there any rules yet specifically for world creation ? Eg establishing the stats etc.

Or is it simply just right down a few notes and thats it ?

Southern Garamund - but selfishly specifically Holomog as thats where im working up some ideas right now for a campaign.

And yet again Mr Bond i win....

Thanks all for starting to get this thread to come alive.

That map is fantastic - ive used Campaign Cartographer myself for years so i thought it recognised the style as soon as i opened it up.

Im looking to pull together my old "kids game" - they are all 19/20 now so it will be a different take as im the dad of one of them. Im either going with Pathfinder using Holomog or possibly Starfinder. My first choice though is the Pathfinder option.

Hopefully a few more ideas may appear in relation to Holomog to help with the creative ideas.

Are there any maps out of there of Holomog ? Im thinking of running a campaign in the region starting out from Anuli and id like to get a better feel for the region.

Any suggestions for any of the above would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Thanael and Wolfgang. I guess ive got some more downloads to check out ! Im off on a business trip next week to Canada and the US. (Im in the UK) - this is giving me plenty to read on the plane :-)

Thanks again for all the great advice - downloaded the Lizardfolk Racial Options - great stuff. OK as per Thaneal's request here ya go. There are 4 players in the group. Three aged 30-45 and my son aged 15. As its homebrew ive allowed them to play what they want and then we sandbox the world around them.

The party consists of Gnome Druid, Dwarven Monk, Goblin Alchemist/Gunslinger and a Hobgoblin Fighter. All of them are level 5. They live in a region known as 'The Serpent Lands'. The southern area is predominantly like the Louisianna Bayou wheres the north his more dense semi-tropical rainforest that eventually becomes mountainous. There are scattered Baronies, Kingdoms etc but there is no one or more regional rulers. In fact there is lots of 'unclaimed' territory simply because nobody has been able to establish and hold onto the land. Lots of walled villages and homesteads each of which carves out a living in this 'harsh' region. In my eyes a region where heroes can really make a name for themselves.

One challenge my son has set me, literally last night. He would like his goblin character to be less Golarion and more Warcraft. e.g. Mercantile, steampunkish basis. I really do like where he is going with it as he could really play it well.

OK just ordered that one. It seems to fit perfectly !

Nope not checked it out but im about too !

Thanks all for the great recommendations so far. My own campaign to day has centred around a swamp region full of ancient ruins that have some relation to a long dead serpent folks. The region is predominantly inhabited by lizard folk that appear to worship an ancient and long dead leader of their race. The players however have uncovered a sinister event involving the ancient leader rising from the dead in the form of a lich.

Hope that helps give some ideas of where my game could go and possible steer some more ideas.

In asnwer to Owen's question. I guess its a bit of both. I personally like things that help me flesh out my world and things that inspire me. I also like to read what others would recommend in general as i can always find a use for something !

Hi All

I'm thinking of buying some 3rd party Pathfinder products. What would you folks out there recommend to someone like myself who prefers to DM my own campaign world rather than Golarion.

Thanks in advance !

Thankyou so much for all the help. I think we might have a solution for him across the thread so thanks all for the help !

Awesome stuff - thankyou

Thanks Sniggevert i shall check that out as ive got that supplement.

OK so thats something for him to work towards. Is there anything actually themed into the game e.g. Arcane School etc (not that ive found it if there is)

Hi All - my son wants to play Pathfinder and has specifically asked if there is a class that used blood magic. I cant find anything in any of the main rules but i could be going blind. Is there anything that ive missed ?

Thanks all for the help. Much appreciated.

Hi all,

I've been trying to find some rules on creating organisations, cults, groups etc and I'm failing miserably. Can anyone point me in the right direction please ?

Thanks.

Oops - my players have been getting away lightly - very lightly. Still it can be a nice new years suprise :-)

OK stupid question.

When a monster has multiple attacks listed e.g. bite, claw x 2 and tail swipe does it get to use all those attacks in the same combat round or do I choose one of them each round ?

Thanks all for the help - very very much appreciated. I shall check out all the suggestions.

Hi All

One of my players really wants to develop his character as a merchant (almost as a background but to help drive plots etc). Does anyone know of any good merchant rules out there that includes rules for trading etc ?

Regards...

Thanks folks that will do me nicely !

Hi All

Are the Yuan-Ti in the Pathfinder rules anywhere ? Ive been looking in the bestiaries as i thought id seen them but cant seem to find them.

Any ideas ?

Thankyou - much appreciated

Thanks folks - much appreciated.

Hi All - is there an adventure path set in the Mwangi Expanse at all ?

Hi All

Anyone know if there is a form fillable town roster sheet out there. Ive tried google fu but with no luck - any one seen one ?

So are mooks like minions in 4ed e.g. 1 hp bad guys doing 4 dmg that I can just throw at the party OR do i simply use the base level monster from the bestiary etc and make the leader a tougher version ?

In hindsight yep frogs make shocking mounts....in the game though a lizard man riding on the back of a frog leaping 30' over a wall was pretty cool ;-)

Out of interest where do I find the rules to increase or decrease the levels of monsters ?

Thanks for the advice folks it is much appreciated. I shall experiment a little as per the ideas above ready for the next session. Just as a note they are all using basic equipment with no special gear yet. Admittedly there was 1 crit in the fight but there was also two spectacular misses as well :-)

Hi All

Well last night I GM'd my first Pathfinder game and I hit a bit of a problem (not that the players noticed).

The party consists of 6 characters.

1) Witch lvl 2
2) Barbarian
3) Ranger
4) Druid lvl 2
5) Wizard
6) Rogue

All 1st level except the 2 mentioned and the setting is a huge swamp/bayou.

They are exploring a ruin thats half submerged in the foul stinking rotting vegetation and they have encountered 2 lizardmen with their riding beast giant frogs. Effectively each of these is a 400xp CR1 monster.

I have calculated that the APL of the party as follows:

Average Party Level: 1.33
Size of Party = +1

So APL = 2

I wanted to create a hard challenge for their first encounter so that adds another 2 which if im reading the rules correctly means I should get a challenge rating of 4 for the encounter giving me 1200xp to spend.

The above 4 monsters were effectively 1600xp. The party mopped the floor with them and only took a total of 4 hps damage.

Am I doing this right as it felt waaaaayyy to easy ?

River Into Darkness takes place in a jungle. I skimmed through it briefly just now, it looks like it has elements of Heart of Darkness and The African Queen while still being its own monster.

Excellent i shall check it out !

Hi All,

Does anyone know if there are any good swamp adventures out there for Pathfinder ?

Regards...

Ah ok thanks - it did seem overly powerful so thanks for clarifying.

Hi folks

Im just reading the Pathfinder rulebook for the first time. Im looking at Sorcerers and i see they gain bonus feat dependent on the bloodline they choose.

Do they gain all the bonus feats at 1st level that are listed as im not sure if im reading it correctly or not ?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi All - anyone know if the old 3.5 sourcebook has been 'updated' to Pathfinder at all ? Is it already compatible ?

MaverickWolf wrote:
There is no official Psionics book for Pathfinder, and the developers have stated that there are no current plans for one. However, Dreamscarred Press has released Psionics Unleashed (available in print and PDF) and Psionics Expanded (available in PDF, to be available in print shortly). Psionics Unleashed is a Pathfinder conversion of Expanded Psionics Handbook, while Psionics Expanded is the Advanced Player's Guide for Psionics.

Excellent I shall check them out. My son wants to convert his psionic character from 4ed over !
