![]() Thanks all for starting to get this thread to come alive. That map is fantastic - ive used Campaign Cartographer myself for years so i thought it recognised the style as soon as i opened it up. Im looking to pull together my old "kids game" - they are all 19/20 now so it will be a different take as im the dad of one of them. Im either going with Pathfinder using Holomog or possibly Starfinder. My first choice though is the Pathfinder option. Hopefully a few more ideas may appear in relation to Holomog to help with the creative ideas. ![]()
![]() Thanks again for all the great advice - downloaded the Lizardfolk Racial Options - great stuff. OK as per Thaneal's request here ya go. There are 4 players in the group. Three aged 30-45 and my son aged 15. As its homebrew ive allowed them to play what they want and then we sandbox the world around them. The party consists of Gnome Druid, Dwarven Monk, Goblin Alchemist/Gunslinger and a Hobgoblin Fighter. All of them are level 5. They live in a region known as 'The Serpent Lands'. The southern area is predominantly like the Louisianna Bayou wheres the north his more dense semi-tropical rainforest that eventually becomes mountainous. There are scattered Baronies, Kingdoms etc but there is no one or more regional rulers. In fact there is lots of 'unclaimed' territory simply because nobody has been able to establish and hold onto the land. Lots of walled villages and homesteads each of which carves out a living in this 'harsh' region. In my eyes a region where heroes can really make a name for themselves. One challenge my son has set me, literally last night. He would like his goblin character to be less Golarion and more Warcraft. e.g. Mercantile, steampunkish basis. I really do like where he is going with it as he could really play it well. ![]()
![]() Thanks all for the great recommendations so far. My own campaign to day has centred around a swamp region full of ancient ruins that have some relation to a long dead serpent folks. The region is predominantly inhabited by lizard folk that appear to worship an ancient and long dead leader of their race. The players however have uncovered a sinister event involving the ancient leader rising from the dead in the form of a lich. Hope that helps give some ideas of where my game could go and possible steer some more ideas. ![]()
![]() Thanks for the advice folks it is much appreciated. I shall experiment a little as per the ideas above ready for the next session. Just as a note they are all using basic equipment with no special gear yet. Admittedly there was 1 crit in the fight but there was also two spectacular misses as well :-) ![]()
![]() Hi All Well last night I GM'd my first Pathfinder game and I hit a bit of a problem (not that the players noticed). The party consists of 6 characters. 1) Witch lvl 2
All 1st level except the 2 mentioned and the setting is a huge swamp/bayou. They are exploring a ruin thats half submerged in the foul stinking rotting vegetation and they have encountered 2 lizardmen with their riding beast giant frogs. Effectively each of these is a 400xp CR1 monster. I have calculated that the APL of the party as follows: Average Party Level: 1.33
So APL = 2 I wanted to create a hard challenge for their first encounter so that adds another 2 which if im reading the rules correctly means I should get a challenge rating of 4 for the encounter giving me 1200xp to spend. The above 4 monsters were effectively 1600xp. The party mopped the floor with them and only took a total of 4 hps damage. Am I doing this right as it felt waaaaayyy to easy ? ![]()

However, Dreamscarred Press has released Psionics Unleashed (available in print and PDF) and Psionics Expanded (available in PDF, to be available in print shortly). Psionics Unleashed is a Pathfinder conversion of Expanded Psionics Handbook, while Psionics Expanded is the Advanced Player's Guide for Psionics. Excellent I shall check them out. My son wants to convert his psionic character from 4ed over !
