There were at least two giant empires, serpentfolk, the dwarves of Janderhoff, possibly elves depending on how big the Miereni (sp?) forest was pre-earthfall. I think one of Taldor's Armies of Exploration discovered Varisia before Korvosa was settled. That's all I can think of. May be wrong on some of it. But that's what comes to mind.
My Homebrew Solution to NPC level demographics: For this reason I use a concept of older souls who have been through the cycle more times can gain more levels in life. So your average Joe's can only hit level 5 or 6, pretty much no matter what they do, some older ones cap out around 12, and then your 'bodhisattva'type souls are truly destined for greatness, and can hit 20.
Pc's are always able to advance as far as they want, and it doesn't stop me from making higher level foes when appropriate, but it gives me a base-line to work off of for general mooks and common folk, as well as leader types. Ties it into the metaphysical-river of souls lore too. And is all just back-end stuff in my head that the players never even see.

Some people can do this fairly well. Speaking as a surveyor, I am pretty good at judging distance. And for me its just fun and games to see how good I am. If my occupation, life, or lives of my friends depended on me doing it regularly, I bet I would be a lot better at it. It is an ability we don't use often in our modern world, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible, or even relatively feasible.A lot of hunters I know are just as good at judging distance, if not better.
I have to agree with the folks who say you don't have to have the PrC to be a Hellknight. It serves no purpose to limit a group that was primarily built as antagonists to having to all be cookie-cuttered out of the same prestige class. But, basically, the GM can do what he wills. The players must abide, or find a new GM.
Spoiler:
I don't believe the Scarnetti belong to the Sczarni. The Scarnetti's are a Chelish descended family, while the Sczarni are Varisian. Furthermore, I think it was a Scarnetti ancestor that killed a bunch of Varisian during a peaceful talk about mutual habitation of the area. I don't have any of my books with me, still out for the holidays, but this is how I remember it at least. Anyone, feel free to correct me.

They do! Check out Brock Samson from the Venture Brothers.
MMCJawa: That's kind of based though on our own technological trends. I don't necessarily see a problem with a society more advanced than us building tech to last. Especially considering a culture that is advanced enough to have interstellar, worm-hole using technology, they could have easily had terraformimg and atmospheric-controlling technologies as well, which would almost definitely be built to survive time and circumstance.
Dank Grimwolf is a Kellid barbarian who left his home to search for his sister, who was abducted by Ulfen raiders during an attack on his tribe. He originally had several companions with him, but they have all fallen, whether in battle or to accident or illness, leaving only him to continue the search. He lost their trail long ago, and for the past year has been wandering aimlessly.
I'll need to rework his abilities and traits, possibly a few other minor changes to his stats, and rework his background a little bit. Originally made him for a Second Darkness game that died out. I've skimmed through the books, but haven't ever gotten to play or GM them, and would love the chance.
I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, everything is magnetic to some degree. The problem is getting all of your atomic poles arranged in the same direction. I seem to remember seeing something about them polarizing a frog once, and making it levitate with a magnet.
I am interested in pledging for the P20 Modern, but won't have money at hand until sometime in May. I noticed on your sight that the pledge period ends on April 30th, and you only have around 11% of the funds you need. Does this mean I am S.O.o.L., or what?
Curious and wanting to pledge, but not drawing paychecks again until May.
Its not a body slam, but try and watch some footage of Cung Le. He was the K-1 champion for a bit, I think. I remember watching him in one match where he used a belly-to-back suplex on his opponent several times in the match. Ref had to call it when the other guy couldn't stand up straight after the fourth or fifth one.
On the other hand, 'professional wrestling' is a soap opera with badly choreographed fights. I used to atch a lot, and have two friends who can usually predict a match move for move on a live broadcast.
Most of my friends smoke, and the majority of them are very productive. One of them earned three degrees in five years at college. Another is a chemistry and polymer science graduate. Roughly half of my potheaded friends smoke cigarettes, the others don't ever touch them. Now I'm not saying I don't know any smokers who are a waste of space and resources, but many of them were just as big of a waste before they started smoking. I myself used to smoke, but had to stop once I got a real job, as the risk of losing my job far outways the benefits of smoking. Unfortunately, this means I rarely sleep well, and sometimes go a day or two without eating, but that is the price I pay for being a member of society. The real issue in my mind would be a better way to see if someone is intoxicated at that moment or not. Say someone comes into work that smokes, and there is an accident. If you are intoxicated, then you would not be eligible for workman's comp. But maybe you smoked a week ago at a friend's birthday or something, and it is still in your system. Should you still be disqualified from workman's compensation?

Hearing Mordecai's offer and then his scathing, and to Dank, quite confusing, long denial of wanting anything of his, he sits there for a few breaths, pondering Mordecai's words. He then shrugs, and chooses to ignore the acerbic remark, since he isn't sure he understood it anyway. "Opening? You mean..job? What I do.. for job? What do job pay?" he asks. Then quickly follows with another question. "And.. I told you my name. What you.. peoples' names?"

"Where's a..little man going?" Dank says, watching as Mel walks out of the Gold Goblin. When he turns back to his tankard, he sees Mordecai directing the tokens through the air, and hastily snatches his back up from the table in front of him, glaring at Mordecai suspiciously.

"Uhh..yeah. You give and I take." Dank says with a friendly smile on his face.

"Hrrm...I will be glad to take your drinks and food." Dank replies, seeming to feel each word out as he speaks it, as if he is not quite used to speaking this language. Spotting the crossbow on the ground, he surreptitiously glances around before quickly picking it up and sticking it in his belt, and then follows the black-clothed man into the gambling hall, looking uncertainly at the silver tooth-shaped token he recieved before the scuffle broke out.

With hardly a glance towards the man in front of him, The large Kellid steps past him (he's not worried anout the thug's attack of opportunity at the moment), towards the man who seems to be in charge of the robbery, drawing his axe as he does so. With a mighty roar to gather the man's attention, he lifts his axe high over his head, and brings it down in a mighty vertical chop. I am going to go ahead and action point that attack roll as well.
Dark Arioch wrote: Barbarian from which region? She is a Kellid from the Realm of the Mammoth Lords. She has the northern fair skinned barbaric look. The Kellids are not so fair-skinned, I believe. They tend to have duskier-toned skin and dark hair. Think Conan (from the original stories, or the Frank Frazetta Arnold S.). Of course yours could look as you described, but your 'average' Kellid doesn't.
